Started renting a house in late October 2019. Landlord is in charge of pool. Pool wasn't clean when…read morewe moved in. Rodney only came every other week even though he said he was coming weekly. Then came the cloudy and green water. Instead of solutions blame was put on us for the problems. Over the next 8 months it was one headache after another trying to convince our landlord (she is out of state) that it wasn't our fault that the pool was never clear. 3 times in a span of 6 weeks the water turned so green it looked like a swamp. We were told that we used the pool too much and were given articles from the internet showing that our family of 6 were pushing the limits of the pool size. Ridiculous. I began to bring water samples to pool supply stores and saw that the chemistry was all messed up of the water. Trying to convince our landlord that Rodney didn't know what he was talking about was very tough since she had used him for years. His list of "must do" tasks included: for every hour we swam we needed to run the pump for an extra hour; running the pump in the summer had to be for a minimum of 12 hours per night; having our black lab swimming in the pool could not be factored into any pool care and this would be the biggest reason why the pool was turning green. The cyanuric acid levels were off the charts but Rodney produced an internet article and defended that all his pools were kept between 300-500 ppm! He said he kept all his pools at this level and this was the only sure way of keeping pools clean. I showed him a few articles/testing stick guides that said otherwise. He was so sure of his method. When I shared with Rodney about the single digit total alkalinity he said that he doesn't believe in tracking this number. When in desperation I added alkalinity to the pool trying to keep it from turning green he made sure that he shared with the landlord that it was our fault for the green pool because we added alkalinity. He quickly countered with 1 gallon of muriatic acid (later I learned that this isn't ok to add that much at one time). He then told the landlord that we may of damaged the pool because of adding alkalinity (basically baking soda) to the pool. The chlorine levels were wildly kept. Rodney would shock the pool to a total chlorine level of 15 and we wouldn't be able to swim for 4 days. Then the chlorine level would quickly dip and we would have green water days later. Here is what he told our landlord the reasons why the water kept turning green: the tenants (us) turned off the water to the pool so he couldn't maintain the pool for 1 month in November when we first moved in; we put a cover on the pool so the chlorine "duck" wasn't floating freely, we had too many people swimming in the pool, we had a dog swimming in the pool, we turned the pool pump down to 4 hours per night (wasn't true of course). Finally after missing months of swimming because of the constant "shocking" of our pool to get rid of the green our landlord called another company to test the water. They immediately said that the pool needed to be drained. The cyanuric acid level was above 140 (all 20 water tests I had run said the same thing but no one would listen to the "tenant") which means the chlorine wasn't effective and thus a green pool. The nightmare also included Rodney telling my wife that he was "idiot proofing" the pool. This was his way of once again blaming us for the pool problems which after his idiot proofing the pool turned green again 7 days later! Rodney became very short with us once we got the landlord involved. But it was apparent that the landlord believed Rodney and didn't believe us. We never knew when/if Rodney was coming to maintain the pool. The new pool company came out and drained the pool a few days ago. Our 4 young children and black lab are enjoying the crystal clear water. The new pool company set the pump at 8 hours per night which is now making our landlord nervous since Rodney never ran our pump for less than 10 hours per night and insisted 12 hours during the summer. I am hoping that this nightmare is behind us.

Showed me everything that had been neglected by previous company and quickly was able to fix all of the issues. The pool is now consistently sparkling clean and running much more effeciently. I didn't understand why because we had weekly pool service. I reached out to try to understand what was going on. Tara (customer service contact) then told me that they had not been able to access my backyard due to the lock code changing. This conversation happened one day ago (Sept 21st). Our lock code changed in May! I went to my ring cameras and service had not been completed since September. Unfortunately, this was as far back as my ring camera allows me to see. Unfortunately, I can only prove that the service I was being billed for was not completed for 8 weeks. This probably went on for much longer. They claim to have sent me an email on Sept 19th (which at this point I don't even care to go find), but never picked up the phone to try to contact me or fix the issue. When I called to ask them to fix the issue, they tried to charge me for extra chemicals and the extra service to rebalance the pool. Charge me more for a service I had been billed for but had not been complete?!?! They said it was my fault for not informing them of the code. Yet, it was okay for them to keep showing up to a locked code week after week without picking up the phone to call me or text me. They said they had to pay their techs for each visit and that's why they would not grant me any service without additional payment. I also paid for filter cleaning service that the manager said had not been completed due to lack of access... again, there was no phone call for them to try to resolve the issue. Had I not reached out, they would have kept charging and just showing up to a locked gate. This is an awful business practice! They lose a customer over fixing a small issue. I would not recommend this service to out of state owners, STR owners or anyone who is not at the property daily to confirm service completion.
