Freddy's Always Ready... On my drive home from work, my car started losing power, first the windshield wipers, then alert notices that the battery was in protection mode, then a red light on the dashboard and then as I was driving in my neighborhood, the power steering went out. I called AAA Battery Service and my car started draining their devices. They advised that it was most likely the alternator. I asked if they could recommend where to take it and they said S & C. Sea County Towing called Fred and advised what was going on with my car. They also called their own boss to get authorized to do an unattended drop at S&C. Although I was a mess, I handed over the car and key, and they advised me to call S&C in the morning. The next day I called and was advised that my car was there and being inspected. After an hour or so, they called back and confirmed that the alternator assembly needed to be replaced, quoted me a price (I approved) and said my car would be ready later that day. Around 2pm I received the call that the car was ready. Two days later, my right headlight went out and I was concerned that it was related to the alternator problem since I just replaced it a week ago. James took a look at it and tested the hook up and said things were good, just a bad bulb. Lucky for me, I bought a couple of replacement bulbs and had them with me. Excellent autocare here at S&C Pro -especially Fred - the head technician! Iwas referred and towed here after losing function with most of the electricals interiorly: windows, mirrors, lights, and even hand signal blinker, after a battery change with my vehicle. Fred: the primary technician, literally stayed open even after his closing Saturday hours to wait for my vehicle to be towed to their shop. Not only that, Miguel (mechanic) started right away with the diagnostics rather than holding off until after the weekend. He listened to what had happened with my car and quickly started the work. So friendly. Because Enterprise Rental had already closed shop, Fred had the compassion to drive me to the next nearest Enterprise, himself! Fred knew that the other Enterprise was closing soon as well. And he found out that I was not familiar with uber. It was incredible kindness from Fred. My oh my! Worst experience and decision of my life. I got my car towed to this auto repair shop by AAA, but I couldn't move my car elsewhere and the driver said I would get a good deal. New to OC, I trusted him and took him up on it. Diagnostic was $150 ish unless I got the repairs done there and total price was $900, close to 1k for two ignition coils, all spark plugs, and valve cover gasket set. Wasn't the worst part. Said all of this was done from leaking, but never solved the actual problem of where it was leaking from. Three-four months later, another engine misfire and turns out it was the same thing. Go to a trusted mechanic back home, and these guys never changed the ignition coils or spark plugs. Didn't even change the leaking hose which caused the whole mess. Would not trust these men. Thought I could, but they are scammers, including the guy that towed my car who was probably getting a cut. Maybe it's due to my age and the fact that I'm a woman, but at least do the job... read more

Wow. It seems like everything this day and age involves a scam. I think being a woman makes it worse. The battery in my jeep was dead so like would many, I called AAA for a jump. The battery wouldn't hold a charge so it was deduced that it required a new battery. AAA recommended S&C pro automotive stating that they were honest and reliable. The owner apparently used to work with AAA and still does the maintenance on their trucks. So that is to where my car was towed. I never heard back so called the following day (today). Fred the owner told me that he had called and left a message. I do not have his message recorded to my phone or his number appearing in my miss calls list. But no worries. The worries start when he told me that a part would need to be replaced and that the battery alone is $300. So he wants $450 to replace the battery. He also wanted $220 for a smog check. I guess because I am not a car mechanic I do not know how to use a computed to check prices and or get competing quotes? Nonetheless, I somehow figured out how to accomplish such an onerous task and was able to get a quote for $200 less than what Fred wanted for the same job. That does not include the insane cost of a smog check. I would have let this all go without leaving this review, but when I called Fred to tell him that the car would be towed back he said I still owed him $150 for cleaning the car and replacing some part! Keep in mind that this work was never approved. Here's a hint on a performance contact, you cannot demand money for service done prior to an agreement being reached. If that wasnt the case id be out mowing all the my neighbors lawns and painting their houses and then sending out bills for all my hard surprise work. Also even if somehow you can get paid for unapproved performance, the car arrived clean! I certainly did not need this extra job added into a bill. So thanks but no thanks AAA. read more

I am 83 years old. I was referred by AAA to this shop for a battery replacement, yet I felt I was overcharged for the service performed. I checked with O'Rielly for pricing on the recommended battery replacement. S&C charged over $100.00 more than O'Reilly's retail pricing for the same battery. When I brought it to their attention, they back peddled with credit for future services. Why not just be honest up front? Cost plus carry of 10% would have been reasonable. Very impressed with this place and Fred has filled fluids, adjusted hoses, etc. and not charged me on a couple of occasions. Just recently got a power steering hose replaced and pricing was very fair and gave me a discount on labor. When I went to pay I didn't have the correct debit card on me and he said just come back tomorrow! I really trust this place and they never upsell you and only fix what you need! Thank you!
