I had this company come to my house to replace a bad alternator on my BMW X5. The service tech's name/owner is Thiago. THIS GUY'S WORK IS INCREDIBLE! The X5 was reporting a bad water pump, but Thiago insisted that the low voltage produced by the bad alternator was causing a false warning regarding the water pump. And he was right. Honest , competitive pricing, extremely talented Did I mention honest Not only did he not charge me for a diagnostic, he didn't do the job, he could have wanted to charge me 1500 like the other dishonest guys, but no!! . He is trained BMW mechanic and said, "this is going to be covered under a recall warranty, even though my car has 80k miles on it. Hard to believe, he could have charged me, didn't to save me money? Doesn't make sense right. He wants to build long term clients by doing the right thing, in heard of right? He called a connection at a local dealership, lo and behold my car is being fixed for free, including additional services being done with it at his request. He not only arrived on time, spent his time working, cleaned up afterwords, but also, let us know when something was beyond what he could help us with. His rates are extremely fair (he doesnt have the overhead of a brick and mortar shop), he is personable and explained everything in a respectful way. I have been contemplating what rating I should give this place, and I have settled on 2/5. I contacted them for a pre purchase inspection on a Toyota Rav 4. About 4 days past, many of which with no contact from the inspector (even after I would message asking for an update) until finally, the car was sold to someone else. The thing about pre purchase inspection is the turn around time should be relatively quick. I have used many (including other competitors in the Irvine area) and ALL have been able to get to the car to check it out within 24 hours. I understand, people can be busy, and I gave him the benefit of the doubt. However, it got to the point that he would just continually say his hands were full 4 days later. It made me not feel appreciated as a customer, like I was being pushed to the side. To give him some credit, he did at one point get to the dealership in the morning, and they didn't have the car ready, so that is unfortunate. Yet, I gave the inspector the number of the salesman I was in contact with at the Toyota dealership so they can figure out a time, and the salesman told me he never once was contacted by the inspector (even after he told me he would). With many days of him telling me he'd get to it the next day, just to not. Or me texting him at 10am just to recieve a text at 9pm with him saying he couldn't see the car that day, with the car being sold to another person, I can say I am really disappointed. This company has good reviews, and the inspector was nice and apologetic, so maybe I got the short end of the stick. I can also give them props and say that the pricing for an inspection is pretty good. However, with little communication, and LONG turnaround time, I struggle to recommend them. If you are not in need of a car inspection asap, or not absolutely in love with a vehicle, maybe go with these guys, but if time is of the essence, consider looking somewhere else. read more

I have done my own brakes for over 40 years. I'm older now and have heath issues. I needed someone else to do my brakes before traveling to Reno this weekend. I found AKP on Yelp and chose them over all the others because of their reviews. Thiago scheduled the work for the next day at 8am and showed up on time. He confirmed that the front pads and rotors were too be done and I added a tire rotation too since he was here. His estimate was cheaper than most, and way cheaper than the dealer. About one and a half hours from arrival to departure including all work, clean up, and test drive. Super clean work, and left my driveway spotless after he was done. During tear down, he even said the pads looked good and asked if I noticed any drivability issues. This was him looking out for me so I didn't have to potentially do unnecessary work. I told him I had shaking when decending both sides of the Grapevine on my last trip. Basically he verified that the work was necessary. I now have my new goto brake guy!! My vehicle failed smog due to a leak and a P0420 catalytic code. I was being quoted thousands to replace the catalytic converter. I gave Thiago a call and told him my situation, he offered to come take a look and diagnose the vehicle thoroughly. He found the coolant leak right away, the reservoir was cracked. He ran his scanner and looked at the data and recommended we change the oxygen sensors first. He stated this would be the least costly option to try initially. But making me aware the catalytic converter could also be faulty. Nonetheless, I trusted his expertise and judgment. He scheduled me for an appointment and serviced the vehicle a different day. Job was completed and re ran his diagnostic tool, reset my codes and checked the data. The codes disappeared but informed me the drive cycle needed to be completed. 1 week later now and no codes have returned ! And I passed smog ! He saved me thousands !
