Took my BMW here to diagnose an issue it was having with a possible vacuum leak. Immediately upon dropping the car off, the entire staff was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Making sure to fully understand what my concerns were. Once the diagnostic is done, they send an electronic inspection report for you to review just like the dealership does. Nester took the time to explain everything the car needed in depth and go over pricing prior to authorizing any work. They had my car repaired and back to me quickly and a very reasonable price. They were very thorough in going over all the issues they found and prioritize all of them in order of what needed to be done immediately to what could wait. I was getting my car checked out for a move several states away and needed to be sure I could drive safely without spending several thousand dollars on repairs immediately. I had gone to the dealer first and with them, everything was urgently needing to be done. I appreciated the insight and attention to my concerns. It also turned out that I somehow had 2 different tire sizes on my car and when the dealer rotated the tires, they caused an issue with the steering that I only noticed after leaving this business. I had driven straight from the dealer to here so didn't notice the issue. I took the car back to The Mecahnic OC questioning what they had done since I didn't have the issue before and they discovered the issue with the one tire. They put the tire in a different location and the issue was solved. They didn't charge me for this and it was much appreciated. I would recommend them 100%. I took my truck into Mechanic OC to have it looked at months ago when I first felt issues - called out the rumbling of the steering wheel, and they told me it was all clear. Prompt, thorough, and polite! We've brought our plug-in hybrid for regular maintenance a few times and couldn't be happier with our friendly neighborhood mechanic. Recently this car passed 100k miles and threw a code that the manufacturer locked behind a paywall. In short order, Mechanic OC diagnosed this (free of charge) and directed us to the manufacturer. It then took that manufacturer two days to diagnose/clear their own code! I am very tempted to give The Mechanic OC 5 stars and upon further work with them I will update my review as needed! I brought my car in for brakes and a 100K service. I was also having some shakes in the car that needed to be checked out. I love my car and I honestly believe that most mechanics try to make you do more than you need to do to your car when you bring it in for any sort of service. The Mechanic OC was very detailed in their report and did not push unnecessary services. I was greeted at the desk for drop off and allowed to wait in the lobby, which is very small and has very few amenities but is serviceable, while they did the initial check up on my car, which takes about an hour and a half. They then sent me a report that had each item that needed to be addressed listed with the severity of the need as well as photos and videos to accompany. For example, the shakes in my car were because my motor mounts were broken on one side, and there was a video showing me exactly how loose that was when the engine was on - which was kind of terrifying but i formative and effective. The breakdown details the amount of labor cost as well as the parts. They offered suggestions on things that needed to be done and let me pick and choose if it wasn't imperative. As noted with the motor mounts, one side was broken, the other side was not, and as I was on a budget I was able to just replace the one side and we are keeping an eye on the other, to I can come back and fix them at a later date with the quote that I was given. Overall, I had a positive experience and feel the work they did, almost 2 weeks in, was great. I will be bringing my car back to The Mechanic OC in the future and even recommended it to my parents. read more

I used this firm today to repair a major radiator leak on my 2016 Mercedes Benz. They did a great job at a very fair price. Initially I had gotten a quote from MB in Lake Forest dealership for $2100. I paid $1360 for the same work here at Mechanic OC. Diana is their receptionist & do everything office manager & she is really good. Very pleasant, personable and professional. When I picked up my car she asked me if I would like to see the parts that were actually replaced - they were laid out so I could see them & when asked, Diana explained the parts. That's a first for me in that I've never been offered the opportunity to see what parts needed to be replaced in any of my cars. After getting screwed by local Chrysler Dealers we researched for a good reliable mechanic to figure out what was wrong with our 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The dealer (in Tustin) had nothing but excuses and empty promises saying they'd get it fixed. After I paid thousands of dollars the issue wasn't resolved and actually got worse. The OC Mechanic had amazing reviews and so I called them to interview them. The gal who answered was honest, thorough, professional and helpful. We took our Pacifica in and they figured out the issue and they were able to get it resolved. Their prices are very reasonable and quite frankly it was worth every dollar we paid them. After we picked up our van they followed up with us to make sure everything was still good. They did this for a few months and they also sent us a nice card. Where do I begin with Nestor and the crew at The Mechanic OC. My family and I were visiting SoCal for Thanksgiving 2024 when my wife's Tahoe gave us the dreaded blinking check engine light and started running rough. Everything I read online told me to stop the vehicle and have it towed to a shop immediately. I knew this wasn't good, and couldn't have come at a worse time- Wednesday night before Thanksgiving. No shops would be open for several days and we needed to be home to Arizona Saturday. Friday morning came around and I was on Google making calls first thing in the morning. I was finding that most shops were closed through the weekend for the holiday. Then I found The Mechanic OC and gave them a call. I was greeted with a friendly voice telling me to have the Tahoe towed there and they would get right on it- music to my ears. The code this car was throwing could have been something really simple (sparks plugs, ignition coil, or wires) or it could be catastrophic engine failure, lifter failure, or head gasket. The Tahoe was towed there and I received calls from Nestor over the next couple hours telling me what they found and what they hadn't found. He was up front, honest, and meticulous. He sent me a multi page very detailed inspection report with pictures, graphs, and statuses of minor and major vehicle components (never had a shop do this). He didn't try to sell me things I didn't need done at the moment, just simply told me things to be aware of. Luckily he had great news for me- bad plugs and ignition coil. He could have easily told me it was worse and I would have paid at that point. His team busted their asses to get it fixed and dependable so my family would be safe driving back through the desert. I received a call at 4:30 telling me we were good to go. Picked it up, drove it home, and it's been running great since. One thing I'l never forget- they told me at pickup that if there were any issues when we were on the road or back at home in AZ to have the shop here call them so they could work it out. Basically telling me they stood behind their work, even in another state. Unbelievable. I can't thank you enough Nester and team. You are the best of the best in an auto repair world full of liars and thieves. You will not regret taking your vehicle here! read more

I got an AC problem diagnosed by a dealership but used Yelp to get some other quotes to fix it. The Mechanic OC gave me a rough quote and said they would confirm the quote after they had inspected it. I took the car in and then they called me with a diagnosis cost that was more than the quote to replace the part and combined, more expensive than the dealership. They apologized for not explaining their process in advance and for wasting my time. I offered them the opportunity to put things right by completing the diagnosis at no cost but they said no. Mistakes happen but not taking the opportunity to put things right was extremely concerning and the reason I won't be considering them to be my new mechanic. read more
