There was no hard sell just discussion of facts as well as the shortcoming relative to health and safety items that were not up to code. We ended up having Quality West replace our boiler, add an additional zone to the basement and install three thermostats, one for each floor. Rob and his expert team (Bob and "The Kid") did a wonderful job and performed the job in 2.5 days. They setup very efficiently and cleaned up well. Bob was very thorough in explaining the system and labeled all of pertinent components. The system functions as it should and was within our budget. Nicholas thought about it for a moment and said something similare to, "I try to figure out a way to get this done." We got the furnace taken apart and cleaned for a couple hundred bucks. A/C is cranking. Beware of these types of shady practices.

I had Tobin come out and give a quote on a new A/C unit a few weeks ago. Their estimator came out…read morepromptly at the specified time and was very thorough in their inspection of the current equipment. We had a 3 year old furnace, and they recommended we match the furnace equipment. (They also conveniently worked with and stocked that same brand). The estimator left and we had a full quote and contract emailed to us quickly. The quote was very fairly priced. It was exactly what I imagined a new AC unit would cost with installation. I was able to price out the equipment myself, and it wasn't unreasonable given the labor involved. I did get several quotes from other HVAC companies and all the other quotes were several thousand dollars more, and did not quote the same brand. Tobin gave us everything we wanted. We scheduled the work a few weeks later and again Tobin's people arrived promptly during the specified time frame. They got to work removing the old equipment and installed the new units, lines, electrical and got everything charged up and tested. The whole process took less than 5 hours. They gave me some tips, answered any questions I had and generally did a good clean job. I would highly recommend Tobin. The other big name guys charged a big name price. Tobin doesn't appear to have nearly as big of an advertising presence, but they were just as professional. No doubt they get a lot of customers through word of mouth, since that's how we heard about them! If you're reading this review, give them a shot!

They charged us for an inspection that was clearly not done properly, pushed us to replace perfectly functional parts at nearly 10 times the market price, and literally laughed in my face while telling me my HVAC system was "shitty" and needed to be replaced. Three days later, the system had another issue because they completely failed to identify the actual problem. We were then pushed yet again toward more interventions and more part replacements by a manager who had never even seen the HVAC system himself and could only give vague explanations about what the issue "could" be. When I later requested my file, pictures, and full documentation from the visit, nothing was ever sent. No transparency whatsoever. We finally contacted another amazing company ALTITUD BRO HVAC-- which I strongly recommend -- and unlike UHCPC, they actually inspected everything properly. They identified the issue immediately and charged us only $400 for something that probably would have cost us over $2,000 with UHCPC. What a joke. And the funniest part? They're apparently just as bad with plumbing. We worked with them in the past on another property and, after charging us over $20,000, not only were they unable to properly fix the issues, but they also damaged one of our showers. Matt Robledo, the owner, even told us he had to fire his plumber Dave because "he was not good" and promised us compensation or future repair credits. Of course, none of that ever happened. Once they take your money, they seem to forget your name very quickly.

2026 Update: One of the exterior irrigation pipes has cracked. After consulting with irrigation…read morespecialists, we were informed that the pipes installed during the 2025 repairs were designed for indoor use rather than outdoor applications. As a result, the exposed conditions caused the pipe to fail in less than two years. The irrigation contractor will repair the damaged pipe; however, it is likely that other pipes replaced during the 2025 repairs will experience similar failures over time due to the use of the same unsuitable materials.

Update 9/28/19: To make this situation worse this company continues to lie instead of completing the project and repairs. Here are the facts based on the owners comments below: - the pictures I provided on this post were taken less than 24 hours after I was told the job was completed and 2 hours after I received the first voicemail from the owner stating that he was demanding payment in full or he would file a lien on my property. - I requested 5 repairs to be made, they came back and fixed 2 of them and refused to fix the others. - The 2 repairs that were resolved were the dryer vent was placed inside the wall cavity, as it should have been, and they extended combustion air vents so that they would pass inspection. - JM Heating and Air refused to make the following 3 requests: 1) They refused to add a heat duct to the laundry room which was clearly requested at the time time they provided the estimate and included in the written estimate I was provided. At no time did they ever state this was not included until after the work was completed and then I was told they could add it for more money. 2) They refused to attach the exterior vents to the concrete with the appropriate anchors and clean the excessive caulking. 3) They refused to add expansive foam to properly seal around the 4 ducts that exit the house. This would have taken less than 5 minutes and less than $5 in parts. I was told they never do that but would for an additional $50-100. I have received numerous angry voicemails and texts threatening to lien my property. The first was left less than 24 hours after the job was supposedly completed and before I took the pictures on this post. Even though the owner did not physically threaten me or my family, I am still frightened for our safety do to the insanity if this situation. I now get to look over my shoulder every minute of the day and hope that this does not turn into something far worse simply because I hired this company and expected them to do the work they quoted me for and do a decent job.

Called Walrath and left message after hours and they called Monday morning and were able to set appt. for Tuesday even though they were booked. Dan in Service was able to maneuver personnel to fit us into schedule and had unit repaired by Tuesday evening . Temperatures were up to 100 degrees these days and extremely uncomfortable for us including for our two year Granddaughter, especially at nap time. I want to alert the public to the unscrupulous actions of this Lakewood-based company…read more A year ago a serviceman from Walrath Heating and Air Conditioning alerted me that my 20 year-old furnace was on its last leg. He suggested that I plan to save $6000 to $7000 for a new one this fall. In November I met with a Walrath salesperson who evaluated where the furnace was located in my crawl space and advised that the price would be $8000. Two days later his written proposal came in at $10,000. When I asked him about the difference, he said that he had forgotten to add in how labor intensive my particular installation would be. He was certain it would go into a second day. I took him at his word. It took the workmen less than 6 hours to complete the job. The salesman and head of the company - now called Walrath Mechanical - refuse to talk to me about the $2000 extra I was charged for labor that was not required. This is a scam. I have since noted on Yelp that I am not the only reviewer of Walrath who trusted a grossly inflated bid. These guys are crooks. Homeowners like me and managers of commercial properties may have once appreciated this small company. Don't be fooled - they no longer care about you.
