I accompanied my friend to S&L Gem in the Roseville Galleria when he bought a pre-owned Rolex on September 19, 2025. The manager, Gia, promised that he could return it within 24 hours for a full refund if he changed his mind. The next day, we learned from a Rolex dealer that the watch was nearly 30 years old, not a 2022 model as Gia said. When we returned it within 24 hours, Levi and the staff refused to process the refund because the manager wasn't there. Later, Gia claimed the sale was final--something that was never disclosed or signed knowingly. They still have the watch and only refunded a small portion. Very dishonest and misleading business. After reviewing my sales receipt, they admired that cleaning, polishing AND re-engraving was covered under the warranty i purchased. They have since reprimanded the 2 saleswomen who interacted with me and one of them was transferred to another store. Just bought a wedding band from this jewelry shop. The staff was great, they were really nice and helpful at explaining all the features of all the rings. We went to a lot of shops both in Galleria and outside but we got the best diamond quality in our opinion and best deal for the ring here. I was passing by in front of this S & L Gem co, at Great Mall, Milpitas, suddenly a sales lady grabbed my attention to see something inside the store, she said they have coupon, a Filipino sales lady who called me Ate, and showed me a piece of bracelet and pendants and necklace, and made me picked a raffle ticket with a $500 written in it. Price of their jewelries is exorbitant. She said, a piece of jewelry is free with that ticket, and that I'm not obliged to purchase anything. She and the other male coworker, enticed me to buy, and said, buy one, get one free, they just want to see my two IDs. Another saleslady with light complexion asked to see my two IDs to qualify for the free jewelry, and filled out application for me for a new credit card with Synchrony. These sales people tried their best to force me to buy jewelry, and I didn't like that, even uttering unkind words to me, because they felt I would not buy anything from them, i would describe elder abuse words. When I told them, i want my IDs back, not buying anything, just want to go home, the two salesladies, I don't know their name, got mad at me, both told me loud and clear, "Go home, go home, go home." Actually, they don't even want to give my two ID back to me, and said it's pending. But then finally gave them back to me, and didnt even want to return to me the filled out application, but just gave me a copy. I just told them "You should have to have good customer service." Although, When my boyfriend bought the bracelet, they promised that he can bring it back anytime to get it readjusted in the event the bracelet was too big. When we went back to get it resized, of course the salesman decided to BS us and said if they were to resize it and remove the links off the bracelet, it risks the chance of damaging it. Do not go to the Tanforan location. My mom who is elderly went in because she saw a free promotion for prizes and money. They showed my mom a set of pearl earrings and a matching necklace. To my moms understanding the earring were only $180. They told my mom if she opened a credit card with them she can get free prizes like a LV bag and iPhone 15, so my mom did. She kept repeating I don't have to pay anything right? And they kept showing her the $0 balance on the receipt and made her sign. She kept asking if she had to pay anything for the jewelry or the "free" items they gave her but they kept saying 0 and pointing to parts of the receipt that said 0. My mom ended up buying $25000 worth of jewelry and she didn't even know it. She was told she didn't have to pay anything. I think this shop took advantage of my mom because she is elderly and doesn't speak or read English very well. I told her the "free" items she received didn't sound legit and to go back to the store and double check and that's when she found out she had a bill for $25k. When she went back to return the items they said there was no returns. So to do her a favor they accepted the return of the $25k jewelry and sold her a set for $10k. They wouldn't refund my moms money and my mom just wanted to get out of there and accepted whatever jewelry they gave her for $10k and purchased that instead. I am really disappointed in S&L Gem co.! Ever since I have dealt with this company they are very slow and giving me a monthly statement in order for me to pay for my merchandise. The statements are always late which makes my payments late and they tried to say I need to pay a late fee! I never pay a bill without a statement because people can say they never received it. This place does not comply with State Laws. Less than 7 days later, went back and attempted to simply return my items. They stated that they did not accept returns as stated on my receipt. However, per the department of consumer affairs, return policy must be displayed at each cash register and sales counter or at each public entrance, or on tags attached to each item sold under the policy, or on the retails seller's order forms (if any). As I was walked around the store, I only saw one tiny sign, posted on one of many counter-tops. I spoke to Lucy about my situation and explained to her "Legal Guide S-6 DISPLAY OF RETURN POLICY BY RETAIL SELLERS" and she totally disregarded what I was saying. Mind you, I was coming in less than 7 days after my purchase... These guys are only in it for the money. Customer service isn't a priority. If they properly posted their signs correctly, I would shut up and take the loss but have some integrity and accept fault and learn from it. Lesson learned from the negative comments here. They actually did me the same thing - asked me the ID card and ran to the computer. Then they used another salesman to disrupt me by selling me something, so the other saleswoman can check my credit (as I am assuming). Guess what? The salesman tried to sell me a Tissot while I would never buy a Tissot. I just needed to replace the battery of my watch, and unfortunately I found this terrible place and learned the lesson. 2 stars because I did get my refund. I bought a couple of items for my wife for Mother's Day last week. One was a tennis bracelet sold as having white sapphires. She wore it at the weekend and some of the stones fell off. Checked it in more detail and quite a few are loose and the stones were not white sapphires. Took it back today and they initially told me no refunds as was displayed on the receipt. I argued about it not being white sapphires and actually being manufactured stones and they agreed and offered an exchange, but no refunds. I had my doubts about overall quality now and did not want anything else from there. I had seen other reviews about no refunds, so had gone in prepared and pointed out the California attorney generals website explicitly says "The policy must be displayed either at each entrance to the store, at each cash register and sales counter, on tags attached to each item, or on the company's order forms, if any. A return policy printed only on a receipt, for example, is not sufficient." It was not displayed as such and so they quietly gave me my refund. Moral is check he quality before you buy and be certain and also be armed with the right info when you have to go back. read more

But I would highly suggest that you don't think about purchasing unless you have some notion of the value of the piece you want. And when you do, be prepared to haggle down. You know, it is so hard to find a jeweler that you can trust, but I feel so lucky that I found one! When I stopped into Jewels by S & L, I got so much more than I ever expected. I found a jeweler that was not only honest, trustworthy, and knowledgeable but is also passionate about their clients. It has been over a year since I got the wedding ring from my husband, and I still wake up every morning, and love love love the beautiful creation on my finger that my husband bought me from them, and to this day, still get compliments on what a gorgeous wedding ring set I have. My husband and I had been searching for the "perfect" wedding ring set for quite a while in CA. When a friend of mine found out that we were looking to get married she suggested, and had only the nicest things to say about S & L. Knowing word of mouth is sometimes the best advertising, so we decided to pay S & L a visit ourselves. I had the perfect diamond in a setting that my mom gave me when she passed away, although it had sat on my finger for more than four years. My husband and I went to every major jewelry chain in San Bruno, and they all had the same type of selection, and all tried to get me to settle for what they had in their display case. Some had even refused to set my diamond in one of their settings and suggested I buy what they had to replace my near-flawless diamond. With 15 days left before I had to leave on my wedding cruise, we decided to give it a last try. So, we stopped by S & L Gem Co. When we arrived, I figured I was going to have settled again so it would not hurt. We were greeted with warm, genuine smiles from the salesperson here. I told them what I was looking for, and they showed me what they had. Although they had beautiful things that I had never seen anywhere else and could be modified to be close to what I wanted, but you know, nothing was exactly what I was looking for. So, we started talking about that. We discussed the different design elements I wanted to incorporate, and they took measurements of my diamond, redrew what I had with measurements to give it scale and proper dimension. There were many nights that I wanted to settle. But they did not want me to. It was clear that I feel like client satisfaction is their priority, and they are genuinely passionate about that. I understand that being in this particular industry, you have to face a lot of happy clients and also not that happy ones too. But I would say my experience with them is wonderful, and I cannot say enough good things about S & L!! So, when the day came, my ring was the most beautiful set I had ever seen. It was better than what I envisioned!! I am stopped by random people who comment on my rings all the time. This thing sparkles for miles! Thank you, S & L, for your commitment to excellence.
