I used to bring all my jewelry that needed new clasps, to be resized, etc to Luis and was pretty satisfied with the work and the service. That is until they LOST MY ITEM. A while back, I brought in my daughter's 14k RG necklace that broke and needed to be fixed. When I came to pick it up a few days later, they couldn't find it. Luis asked for a few days to look around, but I never received any call back. I went back in to check; still nothing. I (not him) offered 2 solutions - to replace the necklace with the exact one (I sent him the Etsy link) or for him to make it himself. Luis is a nice man and I didn't want to make a fuss. He wanted to remake the necklace himself (cheaper solution). The necklace he made was okay, again didn't want to make a fuss so we just kept it. The engraving was very jagged (done by hand and not machine?). The chain was super thin and kept eating my daughter's hair. Just recently, I removed the necklace to clean the hair. It was impossible and I remembered you can burn hair off because gold does not burn. Well guess what - the necklace ISN'T GOLD. It turned black and it cannot be rubbed off. I was honestly still going to go back to Luis for my jewelry needs after what happened, but absolutely not after this. It's so SHADY and it wasn't even my fault that they LOST MY CHAIN. I felt a little embarrassed trying to get a cheaply made necklace fixed but due to sentimentality and attachment I wanted to do anything I could to fix the little thing. The chain had broken off by the centerpiece that needed to be re-welded together. It's one of those pieces of jewelry you put on and never take off so when it broke I was devastated. I was turned away by a bigger, "fancier" jewelry repair service in Burlingame because the jeweler thought my repair service wasn't worth his time. A friend recommended Lonora and practically guaranteed that they would fix my necklace for a low cost. Honestly, I was a little skeptical and gutted after hearing the first jeweler say no one would bother fixing it and it'd cost $$$ due to it being the holiday season. In full desperation on the same rainy day I came to Lonora with low hopes. Immediately I was welcomed in and treated with kindness and respect by the older jeweler. The lights were off so I assumed they'd be closed, but it seems like they wanted to work in sereneness, he even apologized for the lack of lighting. He took a look at my necklace assured me that my necklace could be fixed, and if it was a more complicated fix it'd just be a tiny up charge. He even asked me if I was referred here by my abuela...I thought that was so sweet. Picked it up a couple days later at my promised date at lunchtime and although that didn't go without hiccups I had a good experience. Turns out my necklace was on the working table when I came in so they werent able to immediately locate it. No problem for me, just waited for about 20 minutes for the work to be done. Maybe come in after work if you don't have time to wait. I think I surprised them by coming by during the day. There was a younger gentleman working the counter when I came in who was friendly and helpful. I felt a little nervous not being a spanish speaker in a dominantly spanish speaking establishment but everyone made me feel welcome and included, that was so nice. Necklace came back to me with a dark spot where it was welded but that doesn't bother me so much, I just felt so overcome with relief to have it back after wearing it for years that nothing could bother me--not the wait, not the color, nothing, lol. Super affordable fix. It cost me $8! I think the guy at the other shop told me there'd be a 10x up charge..crazy. I felt so comforted I left a tip, which surprised the staff. I guess that's not a thing here, will know that next time. I'll be sure to return for anything I need repaired in the future. The staff are so warm, amiable, and helpful. I went to that place to change the batteries of my 3 Casio watches, The owner he told me at first that it was going to be $65 for those three watches, he tell me to come back in 45 minutes to pick him up, I went back to pick him up and then he told me that it was going to be $90 just because one of the watches it has three batteries so basically he just put two batteries more and he charge me like $25 extra I do not recommend that place at all. read more

I got my engagement ring resized at Lonora Gold. They are very nice in the store, and they resized my ring perfectly. However, my ring was intentionally designed with tarnish, and I guess they thought it was dirty since technically, that's traditionally what tarnish is. So they ended up cleaning the tarnish. I was pretty sad because my husband had designed the ring with tarnish. I wish the person at Lonora Gold would have told me what else they would do to the ring besides resize it. I guess they thought they were doing me a favor by "cleaning" the tarnish. One of the workers at Lonora Gold promised that the tarnish would come back....and I responded....like in 5 to 10 years? He was silent. Basically, I'd have to wait for the ring to naturally tarnish now. Also, I have a matching wedding ring, but now they look like 2 different designs. My gf bought me this super pimp ass Citizen Eco Drive watch and I needed to have a few links removed. I wasn't willing to take it to to Macy's and have some kid working the jewelry counter pound away at my pimped out watch with a tiny hammer b/c I just don't get down like that. Came in to get my ring resized. Zales (where the ring came from) quoted me $45, but they quoted me $60. I chose them cause well, I was already there and they resize the ring themselves rather than getting sent out somewhere. They played it safe and told me the ring would be ready in one week, but it was ready the next day. They explained to me everything I needed to know about resizing the ring. With how my ring was set up, is that when sized down, it would be oval. I appreciated how they explained and asked me first if that was ok rather than just doing it. They were very nice and welcoming and I liked that. I just came in asking how much they would quote me for it and they were not pushy at all. They didn't ask me how much other jewelers quoted me, they just gave me a price and ask oh so kindly if I decided to have them resize it. Also, when picking up the ring, I showed them my brown (fine silver) Tiffany necklace. He appraised the jewelry I needed to have done for my Aunts estate. He was nice and kind. If an item was of no value he explained why. Let me start by saying I would not take an expensive timepiece here. I am watch collector with several high valued pieces to include Vacheron Constantin, Rolex, Cartier, Bremont, Bell & Ross, etc. The three stars I deducted were related to two sizing issues I had with Lonora Gold. I first brought a microbrand watch to have the bracelet resized. The owner was polite and professional, however sized the watch one link too big. When I told him I prefer to wear my watches firmly against my wrist and not slide up and down my wrist, he told me it would be too tight and to keep it as it was sized. Mind you, I was not asking for his opinion on what HE thought would be best. I was telling him how I prefer to wear my watches. After a brief (albeit polite) back and forth, I ultimately decided to leave it as it was as I am not a confrontational person and since he was spending the energy trying to convince me not to take another link out rather than just listening to my request to remove another link in the first place. Ultimately the sizing bothered me enough that I went somewhere else to get another link taken out. I should have learned from that mistake but this business is close to my house and convenient. Months later I went back to the business to get a Grand Seiko sized. The owner hadn't even heard of Grand Seiko which should have been a clue I should have left. Again, the same sizing issue occurred where the watch was sized a link too large and instead of listening to me and just removing a link, the owner kept trying to explain to me that it'll be too tight. I even explained that my GS was a dive watch with a ratcheting bracelet that extends to go over a dive suit so it's fine if it's on the snugger side. Yet, again, instead of listening to me, he spent time trying to convince me how I should wear MY watch. After a few minutes I just left and again had a link taken out later. Ultimately, I will not be returning to this business. Would I trust them with basic battery changes on my Casio's or to oil a watch I bought at the mall, yes. But the service was lacking in my experience and not knowing GS is a pretty big sign not to take an expensive timepiece here. read more
