Cliffnotes: After two or three failed repairs of the same part, I settled for a partial refund. Several months back, I brought in my alternator that had died on me for a full rebuild to the tune of $120 or so, by referral from a friend. It did come back quickly, two business days I believe. When I installed the alternator back into my car, the car started right away, functioning as it should, with one exception. The alternator was making a noticeable whine from the bearing, but I didn't want to take the time to remove it and take it in again. Fast forward a few months (I think it was about two), and the alternator dies again! I swapped it out for a used unit I borrowed from a friend locally, and brought it back in to S&N, and they rebuilt it again under their warranty. After it was rebuilt, I installed it again. Like the first time, it worked, but was making a whine, though I think it was quieter this time. After a short while with the twice-rebuilt alternator, it failed on me yet again, so I brought it into S&N. The technician there told me it had failed because the alternator had been overheated and overworked. I thought this claim to be rather outlandish, as I've always expected a car's parts to perform throughout the range of situations a car is put under. Now, here's where it gets fuzzy. I don't remember if I took it in another time or not, because I was so fed up with the quality of work here. Either at this point, or after it failed yet another time, I brought the alternator in and just asked for a refund. I was offered a partial refund at first ($75), stating that there was time and materials already put into the repairs, so I took it, and left the alternator. In retrospect, I should have asked for a full refund because the poor repairs also cost me time and money. I purchased a rebuilt alternator, for not much more than the cost of a rebuild, from www.alternatorpros.com and it came quickly, was quiet, and has been in my car for almost two years now. Please do take my review with a grain of salt though. I may have just had bad luck with my car's alternator. My friend, who had the same service done here, had no problems with his repair, and others haven't either. However, I'm sure my case is not unique. The staff at S&N did try what they could to make my problem better, but was not enough for my time and frustration. Nothing against the people here, they seem to be honest, hard-working folks, but their service just wasn't for me. read more

I am very pleased with my service. I have a 76 BMW. I needed an Alternator. I had my existing refurbished instead of going to Autozone and getting a BS one. The price was very reasonable considering the 1 day turn around. I was advised to bring in the external regulator to be tested (it looked like the original) it tested good. I went home installed all and my car fired up and ran with no problems. The alternator charged at 14.1 steady! I definitely recommend them and I plan to go to S&N in the future for my other vehicles. I was looking for high output alternator for a small block Chevy and found S&N on the internet. I went there and purchased a high power alternator. I wish I hadn't. After purchasing the alternator and installing it, my battery went dead overnight. I recharged the battery and the same thing happened. I took the alternator out and brought it back to be checked. Sammy checked the alternator and said it was fine. I installed it back in the car and the same thing happened again. This time, I drove the car over to the shop with a meter and showed Sammy that the alternator, when hooked up, was draining the battery when the motor was off. He again assured me there was nothing wrong with the alternator that he sold me. He advised me to take the car to an auto electric place because the problem was not the alternator, it was the alleged bad wiring in my car. Given how many years he professed to be in business, I believed him. I then took the car to California Rewire. After paying a diagnosis fee, I was told that the alternatior had an "internal short." Back to S&N I went with the reciept from CalRewire. Sammy told me that California Rewire was wrong. I asked him to call CalRewire and he refused. Frustrated, I took out the alternator and brought it to BoyleFutureTech in Auburn for a second opinion. Within 5 minutes of testing, they said the alternator had a bad internal voltage regulator. How S&N could not diagnose this problem is telling as to thier gross incompetance. I stopped in the shop with my reciept from BoyleFutureTech and asked Sammy why he could not find the problem. Sammy demanded to see the bad regulator. He didn't believe me! The bottom line is that Sammy has no clue and I would not recomend this shop to anyone. After explaining how much time and money I have spent on this issue, he didn't bother to apoligize. If you want a rebuilt alternator or starter, don't go to this place. read more

The owner was very helpful and went out of his way with finding out what starter I had. I tend to bring in oddball pieces and pets wherever I go; which sometimes stumps shop owners. Not this guy. He quickly identified it and had my seater rebuilt for me within a few days. Bit expensive, but I have used them before for other vehicles and have this far been pleased. Thanks guys! This is the kind of shop you can feel confident in with both service and staff. I brought my Wife's Subaru starter in to look at having it rebuilt. Sammy explained that the contacts on these starter wear out. He also explained that the starter was a poor design and not worth rebuilding. He offered to sell me a new starter and have it shipped to my door next day. Needless to say, my wife was without her car for less than 24 hours. The prices were fair considering two dealers wanted over twice the amount and said it would take 4-5 business days to to ship from back east. Overall a great experience! read more
