"Beware: S&R Lounge Speed Dating Event Never Happened" I purchased a ticket for a speed dating event advertised at S&R Lounge, Hotel Zetta (San Francisco) on Sept 4, 2025. My attendance was confirmed, but the organizer canceled the event with little notice. I asked to be moved to Sept 11 instead, but my request was ignored. When I requested a refund, the organizer repeatedly refused, citing a "no refunds" policy and insisting my ticket "never expires." That might sound flexible, but in practice it means: if the event is canceled, you don't get your money back -- just vague promises of future events. This is unacceptable. The specific event I paid for at S&R Lounge never happened, yet the organizer kept my money. Looking at other reviews, this is part of a pattern: last-minute cancellations, poor communication, and refusal to honor refunds. Each year on our wedding anniversary we take a trip up to San Francisco! This is where we got married. We don't try to re-enact much of our experience, as we know there is so much to see and do that we like try something new. We still keep some rituals, but introduce something new to take back with us! Since we started becoming more active in Yelp, we decided to make this years theme a little more Yelpiversary like! On this trip, we were thrilled to meet four of our favorite Bay Area Yelpers (and couples) at S&R lounge for cocktails and light bites. S&R (which means Salvage and Recovery)...is a New York style lounge (attached to Hotel Zetta) with a low-key, classy, and intimate environment. I love to visit a lounge where you don't have to scream to hear one another other speak! There was light music playing in the background, yet it remained subtle and consistent throughout the evening. My drink consisted of the Brooklyn martini (it was so good I had to order another. However, the drink I originally wanted to order was taken off the menu). As a group, we decided on food to share. My favorite food item was the brussel sprouts. Art, Jean, Stan and Ann were the best company...there isn't much we didn't discuss, (we never even made it to the playroom filled with board games, shuffleboard, pool, and free WiFi). It's not too surprising as we were a talkative group and we ended up closing the place down, after conversations of art, business, food, drinks, photography, sports, travel and Yelp. We left planning our next get together for brunch and... (perhaps a future group cruise)! I'd recommend this for a quick drink pre-game as the drinks are on the pricey side. There is no happy hour either. Or, this could be a post-dinner place where you cannot imbibe much more. There are nearby lounges where the cocktails match their high prices but not here. However, it is a swanky lounge on par with any boutique hotels (here, it is part of Hotel Zetta). The decor is made from salvaged and recovered (the S&R part) items. It's amazing how ordinary junk can be re-purposed to modern furnishings. The upstairs has games and a billiards table for free play so it is fun and definitely worthy of visits just for that. read more

Games + Drinks = Lots of fun for me! Yes, S&R Lounge appeals to the kid in me with games while satisfying the adult in me with booze! I came here last month with Rodney H to meet up Peter L for post dinner drinks and snacks. (Yes, the fatty in me needed more food after eating a full on meal at Barlett Hall only 15 mins before we got here!) We started in the lobby with drinks and snacks. Smoked Manhattan ($13) - dickel rye, house smoked sweet vermouth, smoked cherry I've been on a dark kick lately so I was liking this. I typically don't prefer sweet vermouth, but it worked with the smokiness of this drink. Lavender aviation ($12) - distillery 209 gin, maraschino, creme de violette, lavender tincture, lemon This was Rodney's drink. It tasted light after having my Smoked Manhattan, but I could see myself enjoying this if I wanted something a little more refreshing to sip on. Chicken nuggets: honey mustard sauce, ranch ($12) - Fresh out of the fryer and nice and crispy! Deviled eggs: horseradish, tobasco, crispy shallots ($3) - Good, but not amazing considering they are more expensive than the ones at Park Tavern and they can't even hold a candle to those deviled eggs. Don't get me wrong, these were good, but I don't think they're worth the price. There were many more glasses of scotch and 2 glasses of Macallan 18 that slightly hurt the pocketbook at $45 each, but we eventually moved upstairs to indulge the kid in me! Played the giant Plinko game a bunch of times (cuz I was winning against a friend, hehe!), beat Rodney twice at Connect Four (yay!) and watched the boys play pool. We got more beers while we were upstairs so you can drink and play games at the same time. I'm glad Rodney & Peter introduced me to S&R Lounge since it's such a great place to get together. This is a pretty unique and awesome lounge inside the Hotel Zetta. One of the first noticeable things is the illuminated wall left of the bar of Alcatraz mugshots- a perfect conversational piece for a lounge area and an eclectic piece in this otherwise minimalist decor. On the wall next to the bar is a giant pinball machine with soccer balls- very creative and fun of course! You just have to go up top to release the balls. Upstairs there are even more games like pool, giant Jenga and shuffleboard. Who says you have to go to a dive bar or Irish pub to play games? Bring the fun here and play in a chic venue! What other goodness here? They have some bar bites. I had dinner anyways but tried the horseradish deviled egg with onions. It was different and yes, yummy. The service is very friendly and attentive too. I love that they leave water out for self serve. It takes a load off the bartenders. A couple of friends and I wanted a nice place to chat and hang out for the night after dinner. This place is within the Zetta Hotel and has a nice area to just sit and relax and chat. I had the G&E 75 and it was decent. I liked the blend of the elderflower with the grapefruit taste, and the cocktail as a whole was well made and decently strong. There's a place upstairs that you can toss soccer balls down along the wall, and there's a pool table and other amenities. Seating can get a little tight for larger parties, as there isn't one giant area for everyone to sit. We ended up combining a few of the seats in the back. read more

I didn't have a chance to try their food when I wrote my last review, but since then I visited S & R a couple of times for a meal before and after watching a movie nearby at Century Theatres. What a great spot for a guys night out. I'd say it's worthy of a destination location since for my group of 10, we were able to have drinks, play games (for free), and then even have dinner at their British inspired restaurant, Cavalier, downstairs. I went there on August 14th for a going away party and invited 50+ of my friends. The burger is AWESOME. I actually prefered it to the one at The Cavalier though they are the same price they have a different preparation. The S&R burger has bacon which you can never go wrong with. With great cocktails and a handful of beers on hand like my favorite Racer 5 you can't go wrong here. Even with 50+ people S&R is plenty big and your guests will be sure to enjoy themselves. Minor things that really put it over the top are the access to parking at 5th and Mission garage. So many great restaurants lack parking options so this is notable in my book. Also, if you prefer public transit it is right above BART and every underground MUNI line. read more

The duo of Anna Weinberg and Jennifer Puccio keep expanding their empire. With Marlowe bursting the seems and Park Tavern surpassing what i though North Beach would handle, S&R Lounge crops up in a the new Zetta hotel. Now theyre not done yet, a restaurant is coming next door but for now, the snacks and booze hotel bar has some good character. A giant plinko like board next to the bar, a game room upstairs and a decently lit first floor allow you so just chill with a cocktail. We saddled up to the bar before our dinner resys and also escape the south bay heat. Tried the: [SERIES A] RYE, FERNET, BONAL & LIME A fairly solid cocktail, bitter and citrus with a little earthiness. The director of beverages happened to be bartending that night with a student that is studying hospitality. We got to chatting a while and even the two big bosses dropped in to have a drink. A good sign that this area is moving in the right direction after so many millions in the previous years hadnt done much. Always good to see a new solid drinking option in town read more

The sight I most like to see in a bar on a Friday night after work? Available seats and no line at the bar. Even better, someone who comes over and takes my drink order! S & R Lounge (short for Salvage and Rescue) had all this and a gin based, grapefruit juice cocktail I loved (The Angel). For those that like spicy sweet drinks, I recommend The Valley. My group gathered at the tall communal table near the window for pre-prandial drinks but since we had dinner plans nearby we didn't partake in any of the snacks. In future I could see ordering some popcorn or a salumi plate and maybe even playing some giant Jenga! read more

"SnoRe Lounge" Came here on a Friday night to chillax. It's not hard to chill but still, this place was kinda weak. When you walk in you'll notice the aesthetics are on point. Everything is pretty stylish and there are a lot of nice places to relax. Drinks were aiiiight. The blueberry in the old fashioned was clutch though. Entertainment wise, there's a lot of variety. Free pool, games, Jenga, pool and a photo both (bring $5 cash). The wackness: -The games are all missing pieces! (No body parts in operation, 3 total battleships, insert more sadness here) -The place closes at 11! On a Friday! If you want to stay out later it may be better to just skip this place. -Place was kinda dead. People mainly just pass by on the way to their room. Overall this is mainly a just a bar for the hotel guests. There were even kids running around. Protip: This is actually a pretty decent event venue. S&R combines 1 part childlike delight (re:giant plinko, giant jenga, etc.) with 2 parts classy interior a la Hotel Zetta. On the up and up, S&R charges a bit more for things. Their highly touted chicken nuggets were more like a chicken burger and actually pretty good. Their "fried mozzarella" allegedly contained cheese curds but wound up tasting more like bland fried balls - nowhere near the magic that Wisconsinites have come to expect out of "fried cheese curds." First of all, I love lobby bars. Sadly, San Francisco for the most part sucks at them. Sure, there's the St. Regis and Four Seasons, both swanky enough, but please don't tell me the Clift is a regular hangout for you. Ok, I go there sometimes, but come on, really? And the W redux? It's like Miami threw up on itself. But then, all of a sudden, in the revamped Hotel Milano (now the Zetta), there's all of a sudden this very playful and airy gathering spot. S + R is short for salvage and rescue, and our girl Ashley there told us about the reclaimed big block letters up front, the sharp and distint chandeliers (gaudy in a good way), and the mug shot negatives of Alcatraz inmates that make up a singular back wall. There's a friendly bar, but also plenty of plush seating to tuck away for a meeting or people watch. But the big draw is the playroom upstairs, which reminded me of a new Hollywood actor's interior decorator's attempt of adding wit and vim. There's shuffleboard and pool, a giant Jenga set and chess... but the pièce de résistance is Plinko. It's hard to convey to you, dear reader, the flush feeling of rolling a soccer ball and watching it plink and plonk it's way down to the ground floor, with bar guests looking from below. With a menu and cocktail program from Jennifer Puccio and Anna Weinberg (of Marlowe and Park Tavern fame), S + R is setting the standard for what a hotel lobby should be all about. I'd give this place a 3.5 stars for now. I gotta say their prices are really reasonable for a bar in sf and the bar food was delicious and very filling. My party of 30 had the communal table and we shared the space until the previous party left so we can get the corner spot with the couch. Here's why it's not five stars. I called right before arriving about a television because a majority of my group wasn't going to come unless we could watch the Warriors finals, which made total sense. I was told that there's an event until 7 and 2 tv's are available. We can move them to our party space at 7 when it's available. So I told my group to hang out on the 2nd floor where there are a ton of tv and games until we get our own tv. Finally the group left and the tv was available so we all got ready for the game again. The tv was set up and everything was perfect. Then, all of a sudden, the TV was turned by the waitress so we could barely see the screen! Of course, we turned it back. Then the bartender gave us a dirty look and said "oh so no one else can watch!" We were shocked and confused. We were there to have a great time and my group was of 30 people which is half the size of the 1st floor anyway and we paid a F&B minimum just so we can do this and she was giving us attitude? I even went and asked the front desk about that second television so maybe they could have that one. The front desk told me the other tv has no stand. Again, confused. So we went on and tried to make the best of it. I specifically told the waitress not to block off the area because when they were changing from the previous group to our group, a family (mother and daughter) started playing pool in our area. I didn't want to kick them out, we were just gonna watch the game. But then when I went to the end of OUR space to move a chair closer to the TV, the mother protested and said WE were using that. Clearly there was more than 2 chairs there plus a part of our couch for the two of them and they weren't using it because they were playing pool. That lady was just rude when she could clearly tell that was a part of our space. I'd recommend putting reserved around your area if you reserve it or guests there will take it for granted and ruin your night. I'm going to assume she didn't know but the three of them (husband came later) just gave us dirty looks the rest of the night, which we totally could have avoided in the beginning if we weren't nice about sharing the billiard table. Literally then guests started drinking in our space and looking at our appetizers like it was open to the public until our waitress stopped them. They would have started eating the food we paid for and the drinks we paid for. At the end we tipped the waitresses and bartender very well, $250-$300! But if I go back again I'd make sure our space was completely blocked off and we get an agreement on that TV. On the bright side, again the food and drinks were excellent! There's a VR corner and a ton of games. Overall it was a great night except all of the little hiccups that made it a 3.5. I'd recommend getting the chicken nuggets (so worth the $$ and my favorite) there are about 6 big pieces. 1/2 dozen Oysters were pretty good, they are the small ones), the fries, and their salt and pepper wings. I heard the sliders were great too. We had the Yamakazi at the end of the night, which was a great Japanese whisky, their most expensive too. read more

Amazing space, great lighting and architecture all around. The playroom is where it is at upstairs. Much more spacious and conducive to large groups. I love the giant plinko. They have pool table, shuffleboard, Jenga, connect 4, board games, wii, etc. there's a London phone booth and plenty of couches, tabes and seating. They have outlets if you need to charge up, and TVs that play sports games. The food is very expensive though for dinky portions, so if you can hold out, I would recommend that! We had the spinach artichoke dip for $12, but didn't get that much dip at all. The angel cocktail was very tasty. They do have a lot of food options from 4-11pm. My only qualm is to play better music. Nestled in a modern Hotel Zetta with iMacs in the lobby for hotel guests. This place is bound to get discovered/packed soon. read more

As others have noted it is a rather cool space. At first I was taken aback because it really is the hotel lobby when I was expecting a bar attached to a hotel but it really didn't make a difference. I don't think there's quite enough going on to make it a great first date or intimate meeting place but if you're looking for something fun and platonic then it might be worth the price tag for you. Service was friendly but a bit slow. (If it were faster we definitely would have spent more money there - and walked out flat broke so maybe they were actually being courteous.) I tried the S+R Burger ($16) and the gin/grapefruit cocktail ($11). The burger was done really rare, without me asking for it, so if you like it medium to well you may want to specify. It was pretty tasty though. From what I recall, I prefer Marlowe's but it's still a good burger if you're a meat, cheese, and bacon sort of person. Personally, I like to have some leafy crunch to my burgers. I was stuffed after 1/2 and barely made a dent in my fries so I recommend sharing with a friend if you want to save room for intoxication. The cocktail I had was well balanced and very refreshing. I think it came out to $13.50 or so after tax/tip - so it's a bit of a punch to the gut but not unreasonable for a nice bar. The harder punch to the gut was that a shot of fernet cost the same amount. That's absurd in my book. If you're with a large group looking for an easy meet-up spot near bart I'd say it's worth a try so long as you aren't heavy drinkers. It's nice and bright inside so you can actually see who you're talking to. For me that's worth a star, but depending on your agenda you may feel differently. :) read more

Would have been 5 stars since I loved the location, ambiance, and food, but the service left much to be desired. The bartenders/waitresses didn't even acknowledge us after we'd been sitting in the lounge for about 15 minutes (and making eye contact!). I had to go up to the bar to place our order. The blonde bartender also got annoyed about the fact that a patron had placed their order with two separate servers, which caused a duplicate order. Needless to say, I was very impressed by the impeccable service, menu selections, and drinks for the opening day. I had the Bubble, which is a tasty sparkling wine cocktail made with gin and chartreuse along with several of the American inspired classics like pigs in a blanket, popcorn, and the ultimate french onion dip with chips. So I've been here a few times and it appears as though it's progressively degrading in quality. Plus it closes early. On a Friday night, it closed at 11pm. This place used to have more game options. Now, there's a pool table upstairs and downstairs, plinko, shuffle board table, giant jenga and a couple of board games. However when I tried to play a game of battleships, there were only three ships in the box. Also the game of operation was missing all of the pieces minus the body. Drinks are decent, they have cocktails, wine and beer. And they do serve food, can't speak to the quality or taste, as I've never ordered the food here. But I have to say, the venue is a nice space. While it's s hotel bar, it's got a cool setup with the bar located downstairs and some games on that level and the rest upstairs with a lounge setting. SUCH a cool place. I'm hesitant to write this review because I so desperately want the place to myself. We came here after work on a Friday for some relaxation, and were very happy to see that this place wasn't super crowded yet. They have a great selection of drinks, and then you head upstairs to the huge game room. I'm talking pool table, shuffleboard, board games, massive jenga, a wii, and much more. Love the space. I hope it doesn't get too crowded as a result. When we went, they had a waitress that would periodically (and i mean sporadically) come upstairs to serve drinks. This lounge is awesome! I happened upon it while trying to decide on a place to meet up with a friend after work. We grabbed two seats at the bar and the bartender was pretty chill. I liked my Trees Knees drink! They have some pretty interesting special cocktails in addition to wines and beers. We got the beef fat fries and chicken nuggets to go with our drinks. The beef fat fries were really interesting; the fries are thicker, almost like steak fries. After a couple of them, it starts to feel a little heavy even though they aren't super oily. I recommend sharing it with at least one other person. The nuggets were delicious and came with two dipping sauces. You can put in your order at the bar then head upstairs to play shuffle board, board games, and with the giant plinko board. Fun place to hang out with friends and grab a drink or two near Union Square :) read more

Great quick, low-key drinks and snacks. The Brussels sprouts chips are delicious and have a little spicy kick. The brut rose is crisp and lightly fruity while dry. Super cool: 2-story wall of plinko!
