The Wreck Room is a classic neighborhood bar with great energy and a really comfortable, welcoming vibe. It's got that local feel that's hard to find, laid-back, friendly, and full of good people. I had so much fun at this bar! ID check in the front, you seat yourself and go up to the bar to order. It's incredibly spacious, open seating and has a good amount of fun games. When it comes to dive bars in the city, this is easily towards the top of my list. I've been here on multiple occasions over the years, and the drinks are affordable, the service is good, and there's never been a time I didn't get the high score the on the pop-o-shot basketball game. Being off the Polk St. path, this bar wasn't as busy as the other SantaCon stops, and it was nice to have some space to move around and mingle with strangers. I dunno why but every time I come here, I always seem to meet a lot of cool people over playing pool, basketball, or skee ball. It's one of those things where if you put good energy out there, you'll attract that as well. From the bartenders to the patrons, I've always felt welcomed and left happy. The shot and beer combo for $10 is a great deal. They have plenty of beers on tap, multiple TVs playing sports, and SF affordable drinks with a pretentious ambiance. If you are looking for bar to kick with friends, play games, and watch sports, this is a great spot. Plus they are dog friendly. As a New Yorker, this is my go-to dive bar as they're pro NY teams. It's always full of characters (i heart people watching), with plenty to do while watching the game (pool table and etc.). My girlfriend and I needed a spot to watch the Golden State Warriors game. Stopped by The Wreck Room on Thursday, May 24th around 6pm. Luckily, we beat the crowd as we were able to find two seats at the bar. We both ended up doing four rounds of Coors Light (the tall cans) and Jameson neat. Not sure how we each managed to finish 96oz of beer in a little over two hours, but the game wasn't going well, so maybe we were trying to numb the pain? The whiskey pours were good. I'm more of a liquor than beer drinker, so when my gf ordered us the beers, I needed to add the Jameson. The atmosphere here was great. Plenty of TVs for viewing the game. The bartenders are also super sweet. Very friendly and attentive. They just kept the rounds coming. It is a little dark and loud in here, but that's part of the charm of being at The Wreck Room. Cool atmosphere! After a show nearby, we decided to check this place out. It was crowded but pretty fun. There are games you can play and different drink/beer options. I opted for a beer which was good. They had plenty of seating options too if you needed. The neighborhood is pretty chill. Kind of near Nob Hill (or walkable from there at least). The crowd seemed pretty mix -- different age groups though you'll see more of the early/older 20s and early 30s. There are arcade games along with shuffleboard and other things. I hosted a going away party for myself and my partner here in December- the experience exceeded any and all expectations I had. I went into the bar the Monday of my event (Friday) to ask about having a large group come to The Wreck Room. The staff/management were SO kind and enthusiastic, informing me that they would hold the tables in the back space of the bar and I could even use the bar in the back to set up food (they allow outside food, which is another reason this place is so awesome). Needless to say, the event was a total success. The bartenders and staff were incredibly accommodating and personable- I even had about 5 different people from my group come up to me to let me know how kind the staff was and how much they loved the atmosphere of the bar. My 80 year old grandma who I expected to stay for 20 minutes, loved the bar and people so much that she stayed for 2 hours (one of the bartenders even gave her a bottle of wine after she raved to him about how good her glass was- she couldn't stop raving about that experience). Other perks of WR: clean and spacious bathrooms, arcade games, many TVs, strong and good priced drinks, spacious and open layout, water station I've been coming to The Wreck Room since I graduated University of Oregon in 2015 and have always had the best experiences watching games here, and this experience of hosting a large group confirmed my appreciation and love for this neighborhood spot. I have never been to a better bar! I've been here alll week and spent New Years here and my god if you've never spent a night here you've been missing out! All the bartenders are great! I literally get a refill on my beer half way! They are on it! For New Years it was $70 all you can drink and it was legit! Delicious champagne bottles handed out and super great service! The Wreck Room is a bar located near the intersection of California and Hyde straddling the northern border of Lower Nob Hill or, as many folks like to call this part of town, the Tendernob. North Carolina hometown buddy and now longtime San Francisco transplant Brian C introduced me to this spot. The Wreck Room is like a college bar except it's in the middle of San Francisco. The Saturday night we went, the crowd appeared to be mostly twentysomethings. While the crowd was a little diverse, the atmosphere and vibe were predominantly fratastic. I can see why this place is popular. There are several TVs, great for watching sports. There's an old school CD jukebox. The highlight, though, is probably the assortment of bar games. They include: - A pool table - Basketball "Super Shot" - Skee ball - A boxing arcade machine with an actual punching bag - One dart board - One shuffleboard Spacewise, the bar can seat about 20 customers. There are tall tables and bar stools in the front for about 20 more. Finally, there's a nook in the back with two tall tables and seating for another 20. The gaming area has a wide open space in the middle which is nice if you need breathing room. That is unless, of course, a dance party breaks out. The overall condition of the bar and games is alright. This place definitely has some years on it and, again, reminds me of a typical college town bar. I can't say I enjoyed my time here because it was uncomfortably hot inside. It was an unseasonably warm upper 70s/lower 80s Fahrenheit day. Many older buildings in San Francisco don't have air conditioning. The Wreck Room is on the ground floor of what appears to be an older building, so I can't fault them too much. However, it doesn't change the fact that I wanted to leave solely because the heat was near unbearable (and I'm a warm weather person). It was also pretty busy that night, so the collective body heat, humidity, alcohol, and odor only made matters worse. I'm sure The Wreck Room is more fun and entertaining on cooler nights. read more

Great beer choices, generous pours on cocktails, and a whole lot of Duck Alum . This bar is in the neighborhood and my friends and I always have a great time wether on a week or weekend night. NO KITCHEN, but they're ok with you bringing food in which is awesome. This is a Duck bar, so Beavers and Huskies stay away. The Bartender made a Peach Lemonade for me with Peach Absolut....omgosh...so delicious..and the music playlist had my naughty side wanting to dance.
