Great setting. Great bar. Great location and view. That's where the praise has to stop. Eggs Benedict isn't supposed to be hard-cooked eggs unless I asked for that. And not on crusty, hard to cut bread. Yuck. Waitress never checked back, never refilled our water, never offered a drink refill or asked us to order another round. Just a lot of basics of service and cooking that were missed, especially when they put the price point so high. We've been here before for dinner and it worked better. But I just can't recommend their brunch after today's experience. Note: they say they now can only split checks two ways. So in a bigger group the math could get complicated. read more

The moment I walked in here, the hostess with the orange Phone was RUDE and preoccupied gossiping on her phone to acknowledge us or greet us. It was clearly a PERSONAL CALL. Made reservations for dinner on a Wednesday night at 8pm. We arrived over 15 mins late and they were able to seat us right away. Service was really great even though the place was packed. There was a tech event on the other side of the rooftop so it was popping. There are good views and you can sit outside by the couches. It was pretty cold so we sat inside right by the glass doors separating the inside from outside. The food overall was a bit underwhelming. The oysters didn't taste as fresh as expected, though the bluefin tuna tartare was a highlight--well-balanced and enjoyable. The roasted cauliflower, on the other hand, lacked flavor and depth and ended up feeling like a pretty forgettable starter. For my main, I had the braised short rib. The meat was tender and nicely cooked, but the dish leaned quite heavy and a bit too salty--I ended up taking half to go and found myself reaching for water throughout the meal. On a more positive note, the cocktails were yummy. The Summer Breeze in particular stood out. It was refreshing, well-balanced, and not overly sweet. read more

We were able to make a 4 pm reservation on open table for this spot, this is becoming more and more common now for eating/hang spots to do this, takes making the reservations off of their plate. This spots views were incredible to say the least. Awesome awesome feature that lived up to the hype. Obviously because of the views most people when they come here request to be seated outside where they're right in plain site of all the tall buildings, even shots of the Bay from the outside too, it's awesome. We ordered a few rounds of Old Fashioneds. Then a round of rose. My wife also tried out the raw oysters too. The drinks were quality, made perfect. One thing I want to mention here was the service we got. Both our server & the bar tender were awesome. For some odd reason our phones were draining battery like crazy. We then Uber Eats ordered 2 charging cords & a hub, the bartender helped me out and charged both of our phones rotating them for us behind his register at the outlet. Huge help to us. To be fair, I was staying at the hotel, so the commute here (and back to my room) was easy peasy. But, I have been getting tons of recommendations to come here and I'm glad it was such a convenient way to try it out. Arrived around 8pm and sat right at the bar. I took a second to peruse the menu, but eventually just asked the bartender, what his favorite drink was and went with that. The Labamba! So good too! Im a girl who loves a spicy drink so this was up my alley. Fruity and spicy! This evening (Tuesday night) was a bit on the quiet side and Shelby's was much smaller than I anticipated, but I still had a blast. Cute little 30 minutes spent here! A friend had recommended Shelby's, and I was glad to have secured a patio spot walk-in (no RSVP) just slightly before 9pm on a Saturday night. At the time, it wasn't too busy but by 10pm? Wow did it get PACKED with barely space to line up. I had their drink closest Paloma - so good that I had forgotten the name. It was super tasty, super strong (yes you'll feel it) and also on the sweeter end. The sweetness unfortunately couldn't have been adjusted. Drinks aside, the ambiance was pleasant and could be intimate. Sit by the window and watch the sunset or the stars; it's amazing. Very cute rooftop, I came just to get a couple bites with friends and we shared a charcuterie plate and salmon pate. Overall the food is pretty good but quite pricey for what it is, but I think the vibes and environment really set it apart. We were invited to an intimate 18th birthday here, out on the terrace. The location is very unique, prior to this I didn't even know it existed. It was definitely cold that evening, there are heat lamps but they don't seem to reach the table spaces, I felt like they were heating the walkways more than anything. They do provide blankets on request. Our party ordered mostly tapas to share and one main dish to share as well: roasted cauliflower, tuna tartare, prosciutto & burrata flatbread, pan roasted red cod, the braised short bread, and the bread pudding to finish it off. The girls also ordered Shirley Temples. I will have to say the tuna tartares were the stars of the night as we ended up ordering 2. And the bread pudding was delicious as well. I came by this place this past weekend and unfortunately left extremely disappointed. It was my sister's birthday so I wanted to take her to a nice rooftop since she had never been to San Francisco and it was her first time. When entering the building the friendly staff in the lobby directed us to the elevator and told us the restaurant was located on the twelfth floor. The view was beautiful although we didn't get a table by the view and had even waited for one while one waiter waived at us to another table. There wasn't much interaction for the first ten minutes we sat down, then a waiter came to order our drinks. The waiter began to get annoyed by us ordering things off their menu they didn't even have "in stock". We had never been there before and their menu is not a large selection so that became uncomfortable. The food was not the best and very underwhelming for the price point. After bringing a few plates of food out, our waiter did not return the remainder of the time we were there. I even tried to wave him down with the menu and make eye contact, he simply turned the other way and walked away. We all decided after another fifteen minutes we would not order another drink and leave. We decided to ask another waiter passing by if they could bring the check. Once we received the check we paid and the waiter who did not come back to our table after serving our food practically ran over to our table to retrieve the money. He then walked between my sister and I counting the money in our face and walking away from us without saying a word. I genuinely hate when I have to leave a bad review but after seeing so many reviews based off service alone I feel comfortable writing this as I am not the only one who experienced such thing. It's very disappointing to see so many people mention bad service and nothing be done about it especially being owned by Hilton. I am shocked by this experience as I cannot remember the last time I had such a horrible interaction. For these reasons I cannot recommend this place to others. To start I can walking in to the restaurant was absolutely gorgeous. The lighting was dark and sultry, the skyline was clear and the city felt alive. The music was top notch and sent me right into a state of feeling like the main character... However, the food broke the fantasy... We had ordered the butternut squash risotto and the rice felt a little more than al dente. Not the biggest fan. The fish was dry and the pate missed the mark. The service was slow and the space was limited so lots of plates left on the table. The drinks were the star of the show and saved the night! Love the view from here, visiting on one of the nicest days in San Francisco. Came here just to experience the space which is amazing. There was some kind of street music you could hear on the 12th floor and no music playing in the bar area or so low and really drab they need some edm or something playing. I already had dinner plans and I would have liked a start but it was limited to three choices a pate, not for me, oysters also not for me, and charcuterie board and my wife is pescatarian. As stated by many other patrons , views are amazing and the food is good and they have food drinks. Restroom was clean . Great place for a romantic date or family time . We came here before our dinner reservations for a quick drink, and the server we had the night before helped us again. I've had many lemon drops, and the lemon drop here might be one of the best I've had. Perfectly balanced, sweet and tart! I came here on Sunday with my friend. We made a reservation, so we were able to be seated right after on the outside. The view is immaculate as you were able to see skyscrapers and various buildings. This rooftop lounge was on the 12th floor of a hotel. It felt amazing to be level with some of the skyscrapers and enjoy the sunset. The outside was perfect for cute pics with your friends while sipping on some wine and indulging on a cute little dessert. There are some heat lamps, so it wasn't too chilly. My friend and I ordered the Whispering Angel Rose and a cheesecake. The rose was on the sweeter side which I loved! The cheesecake is a burnt basque cheesecake and had this amazing citrus sauce on the side. The cheesecake was light and the citrus made it slightly tart. Our server was attentive and checked in with us every once in a while. My friend and I took the Muni Metro to get here and it was less than a 5 minute walk from the station! Shelby's Rooftop is the best place for breakfast, especially if you're staying at the Canopy. Gorgeous views, pricing that matches any options within walking distance and better experience overall. We ordered coffee and the Shelby's breakfast plate (with bacon) and were thrilled with the quality of food, coffee and service provided. I ordered my eggs over-medium and they were cooked perfectly! The sourdough toast was crunchy yet chewy with butter and a little jar of jam on the side. The bacon was crispy (as I like it) and the potatoes were nicely seasoned too. The server was around often refilling water and coffee so we never were left wanting for more. Popped in for a nightcap and experienced the same gorgeous views (but at night) but found the prices of drinks a bit more steep for the area/ experience. Been here a a handful of times for weekend brunch as a family, and definitely a solid spot to go to, especially if you're taking BART since it's only 2 blocks away from the Powell station exit on 4th and Market. Would highly recommend a going here during the weekend since we found the weekday lunch options were a bit more limiting. The egg white omelette is my order of choice, although we've ordered the burger, eggs Benedict, Spanish octopus, and avocado toast before. The eggs Benedict portion is very generous. We usually get the yogurt parfait for our little one, but she usually likes a bit of everything else we're eating :) The potatoes aren't too salty, but nice and crispy without being too oily. The service was good each time, and we enjoyed the view even when it's on a busy or foggy weekend. Not a drinker, so can't opine on the cocktails, but found the coffee options decent. Virgin does it better. Virgin Hotel that is. When this was Everdene, this rooftop bar was vibin'. Unfortunately, they barely lasted a year because of legal drama. Hilton took over the space and Shelby's opened in December 2022. They remained dog-friendly so yay for that. On a Thursday night, the vibe at Shelby's was just off (we kept getting ignored by the pretentious servers in a near empty lounge) and their jungle drum 'n bass playlist wasn't my jam. As we were about to leave, the DJ (Kat who also djs at KAIYŌ Rooftop) arrived and Biggie Smalls came on. And, they continued playing 90s Hip Hop and R&B. Ok, ok...let's stay for one last round of obnoxiously priced drinks! Three shots of Fortaleza Blanco and three diet cokes were over $130 after tip which is ridic even for the city. Once the opening shift staff left, service was SO much better. I didn't get her name but the Filipina server was super sweet and the busser came by to give us blankets. Restrooms needed attention...TP/toilet seat covers on the floor and two of the three stalls didn't have TP. Expected at a packed club at midnight...not at a hella chill lounge at 8 pm...on a weeknight. Overall, glad I visited this space again but with the grossly overpriced drinks and mixed service, IMO, Shelby's is more of a spot for tourists and business travelers with phat expense accounts. read more

This was my little secret spot for years... I've been to many rooftop restaurants in SF and this one is my favorite. It has nearly a 360 view of the city, protected by glass wall blocking the wind, it's romantic, cozy, and great for groups all in one! The food is great - from bar snack options to fill dinner courses. We've come here multiple times for client group happy hours, and have tried all appetizers and many of their main dishes. The best cocktail I've ever had to date has been from here, called the Summer Breeze. It's the perfect drink if you're wanting something refreshing but also a little sweet. The views you get from this rooftop alone are amazing, then pairing that with exception service from the host to the bartender is what keeps me coming back! Mark the bartender is amazing! Like it had been microwaved?? And they charged us $5 for it. So the panna cotta tasted exactly like a yogurt parfait from Starbucks. I'm literally leaving the restaurant right now, so this review is as fresh as it gets. I've always had a great time at Shelby's Rooftop Bar -- the vibe, the views, and especially the staff. And today I have to say this: the host who greeted us when we stepped off the elevator was unforgettable. His personality, his energy, the way he treated me and my husband -- he was honestly one of the coolest people I've ever met. I was madly in love with his whole vibe. That interaction alone is something I'll remember forever. Shelby's always has great staff, but he stood out in the best way. Now, about the food. I used to come here specifically for the Mary's Chicken -- it was my absolute favorite dish. Today I found out that it's no longer on the menu, which was disappointing because that was the whole reason we came. They brought out a completely different chicken dish without telling us the original one was gone, and that threw me off. I didn't want to try the new version since I came for that specific meal, so we decided not to eat and just ordered drinks instead. I got the Kiss from a Rose cocktail -- $24 each -- and the drinks were great as always. Our server was kind, attentive, and professional. We paid for our drinks and left. Even with the menu change, I still love this place and the people who work here. The atmosphere is always good, the service is on point, and I might come back in the future to actually try the new chicken dish. But today just wasn't that day.
