It has one of the best designed traffic flows I have seen. You drive to the back, find your row, take a left and pull into your slot. Look on their web site if this doesn't make sense. It's super easy. Every site is a very flat concrete pad with plenty of room. All roads are asphalt and are in perfect condition. It's the easiest place to get into and out of that I have seen. They have all the expected connections at every site. No cable, but there are more than two dozen channels available via antenna. They pick up your trash. Super nice pool. Golf carts for rent. Places for kids and dogs. The grass is very nicely maintained. The place is secure with a real gate that they give you a card to open. Everything here is first rate. The staff was super nice. We got an Amazon delivery but we're off at Bald Head Island near closing time they called us about it and we said just leave it by the door... someone took the time to bring it to our site! While you are there, definitely take the ferry out to Bald Head Island. It's not far. I definitely recommend this place and honestly will say that it deserves more than five stars.

We love the family atmosphere and our kids enjoyed riding their bikes, playing on the playground, and going to the pool. This is the perfect campground if you love smaller campgrounds with SHADE. It is definitely not a concrete jungle like some of the other campgrounds. The bath houses are the best and they are cleaned on a regular basis. The campground also has a small store that offers free movie rental for those rainy days/nights. The staff is very friendly. I cannot say enough great things about this campground!

I visited in a 40 ft motorhome and was placed in one of the smaller spots from what I can see walking around as many sites were of nice size. The site picnic tables are concrete so unable to move them and mine was placed at the very front of my site making it useless unless you want to be roadside attraction. It didn't take me long to understand why when I wanted to put my awning out and bring out my chairs I would be sitting on top of my neighbors sewer and electrical box, yes, they were right beside my camper on the passenger side making no room for a picnic table. Therefore, no sitting outside on this trip unfortunately. As far as the "resort"......not even close. They offer no resort amenities. No concrete pads, no food service, no planned activities for the kids, a very small pool was closed for the season. So we are clear on my expectations and experiences at a true "RV Resort" they have a restaurant on property, they have concrete pads, they most often have a year round pool or hot tub, they have spacious sites, the property is well maintained, they have places around the campground you can sit and relax or have family activities. This place offered none of this but yet the price we paid during off season was more than what we pay at ocean front resorts in NC. This campground is more of a community of long term or permanent campers. Some sites need to be reeled in by the owner as they look look like a collection point of recycling. A camper at one particular sites was circled by debris doing this place no favors. The place was full of RVs, but yet we saw only about 3-5 people over a 3 day stay. The customer service over the phone was great. Very friendly and helpful. They do have a limited offering of supplies in the office. The price point from my experiences here would be more realistic at $30-40 off season and 50-60 during peak. We paid $80 off season. This will not happen again as there are choices in the area where the prices are more balanced with offerings for a visit with family who live in the area.

This is a older recreation area but they have everything you need for a getaway. The location is on the Atlantic ocean coastline of North Carolina. Make reservations before arriving they do sell out all yr long. Check- in is easy, jus follow the directions on your email receipt. If you forget anything there are some items for sale inside the visitor center. They have several lodging options, rv hook ups, canoes and bike rentals. There is a beach house with food, lots of area for cooking out with seating. You can also go boating or bring your own jet skis. The views off the dock are absolutely beautiful stayed in a cottage which was rather nice for the price. I was literally across the street from the Kure beach. Houses in the area start at 1 million dollars and up. Hotels and house rentals in the area are a bit pricey, but would be worth it for a short getaway. Just a few miles down the road Ft Fisher has a state park & a aquarium that is close. Call before you go to for hrs and operations. Im sure I will be back for a future visit! I've never been to this facility before, so I had no idea of what to expect. The cottage was beautiful. It was a 3-bedroom, 2-bath bungalow. Simple but lovely. However, for my husband and I this was a lot of cottage. I had no idea of the pricing because we were told by the groom that a place had been secured for us. With that said, I figured when we checked in the following morning that we could just move to a 1-bedroom cottage if there were any much like a hotel. (DON'T ASSUME!) Even though there was a 1-bedroom, the staff said we could not move because we must stay two nights in one rental. I asked if we could at least get the pricing of the 1-bedroom for the 2nd night simply due to ignorance on our part, and we were told we must speak to Lisa. We could not catch up with her while we were there, and it took 4 days to get a return phone call. When we spoke, I was informed that she lives on site, and if there were any problems that we should have called the number on the paperwork. PROBLEM: typically meaning emergency. (DON'T ASSUME!) Apparently, this could have been resolved had I called the number to discuss the issue. No credit forgiveness was given. The customer service at this facility is not the quality I would expect in a beach setting (and not just due to the lack of refund). However, a huge shout out to the wedding host at the Beach House Bar and Grill because she was professional, fun, and hosted the wedding with great attitude. At least now, if I ever return (which I would like to explore this area one day), I will know that the terms and conditions are not customer friendly.

Probably a great place to stop by with family if you lived near by, but I'm not sure that I would ever go out of my way to come here. And probably not really with a dog. Lake Waccamaw State Park is located in Columbus County. The Visitor Center was a great place to…read morespend a rainy day! It is filled with history and ecology. It is on the smaller side but filled with interesting information and dedicates a lot of space to the history and artifacts of the Waccamaw Siouan Indian Tribe. The Lake is the largest of the Carolina Bays. The bays are multiple oval-shaped lakes that were likely formed over the last ice age. The Waccamaw Siouan Indian Tribe viewed the lake's formation as the result of a meteor that left a deep crater. The Visitor Center explores that theory, as well as others. Lake Waccamaw was a logging town, and cypress trees were used for shingles. The weather-resistant shingles were chosen for George Washington's home in Mt. Vernon. Fifty years after the Lake Waccamaw Dam was built, the state established a state park. It started at 273 acres, but over time, more land was acquired, and the park is now 2,300 acres. The park is considered a hyper-unique ecosystem because the limestone bluff keeps the water clear, and the alkaline conditions support fish and mollusk species found only here, and nowhere else in the world, such as the Waccamaw spike mussel and the Waccamaw darter fish. They have a fossilized skull of a Balaenula whale that swam through the coastal plain millions of years ago. The Lake Waccamaw State Park is home to black bears, bobcats, carnivorous plants, and American alligators. Though the rain kept me inside this time, the park also features several trails and a scenic boardwalk that I look forward to exploring on a sunny day.

The end of the road yielded a parking lot with no shade and a worn boardwalk to the lakefront. The lakefront is nice. The trails were a bit overgrown, and I quickly abandoned my search for rare carnivorous plants. For some users, the park will be quite nice, but I found plenty of room for improvement. Like all NC state parks, it is free.

The FHU's worked flawlessly. They pick up trash from your site. They had a live music duo and a giant bubble machine for the kids Memorial Day Weekend. Even then, it was still quiet each night. Nice little trail to a local coffee shop house and a very cute little "fairy island". Plenty of different sites. No pull thru's available. We had a back-in that was very big, easily handling our 42 ft fifth wheel and tow truck. And frankly, it offered more privacy with the trees and shrubs between sites. We enjoyed our stay here. The pothole and the circuitous exit were the only negatives. The exit can be a bit tricky to navigate, particularly if there is a rig parked at the office. After the office you need to take a weird left turn, then you have to avoid any incoming traffic. Oh and if your GPS wants you to turn left out of the park or do a U-turn down the road - go right and use the Military Cutoff Road.

To be honest I was a little worried based off of some of the negative reviews and moving such a far distance. My experience turned out to be completely different than what some of the reviews stated. We were welcomed by Ruth and she made it very comfortable from the beginning. Keep in mind this a full time RV park and not a campground, so that means everyone around you is living there and not there for the night. They ask is to keep you site clean and presentable, don't cause a ruckus, stay on the gravel lot so you are not tearing up the grass with your vehicle & the most basic of them all is pay your rent on-time. This is all basic neighborly etiquette that you would find anywhere else especially in an HOA. The monthly prices are phenomenal even if you are on a lot where you pay your own electric. We stayed for 4 months and would have stayed longer if we didn't buy a house. I also want to shout out Melissa who was an amazing neighbor and who has recently started working in the office with Ruth. She has been a huge help with any questions we may have had and her family helps ensure the upkeep of the property. One of my favorite things about this place is the amount of property in the community and not having to leave the community to go for long evening walks with the dogs. On my last day I went in to take care of my electric for the month and Ruth had a check for my deposit refund waiting for me. Thanks again Williamson for giving us such a great full time RV experience.
