I have nothing to add to the previous reviews except accolades for Jeff…read more We purchased a house over the summer that had a beautiful master bathroom with a large glass block shower. Imagine our disappointment when after a couple of months we noticed a puddle outside the shower where the only way it got there was through a leak. We thought at first, we could just re caulk. But decided to call in a professional to evaluate if there were more problems. Thanks to Yelp, Ashley and Jill (Who needs to pay for Angies list?) I found Jeff Tavener! After my description of the problem, he gave me a quote over the phone, told me not to use the shower for a few days and he would come by to fix it. He came by this morning and after getting to work, showed me the severe problems caused by the original shoddy workmanship. He went above and beyond the work in his original quote, re cementing under the glass blocks and refused to charge me more money! Whoever heard of such a thing these days? I still paid him more than he quoted, I felt it was only fair. Not only did he fix the leak and the underlying problem, but went over what we should keep an eye out for, and will be back in a couple of months to do a little more. Told me to call him if I see even one hairline crack in the grout so he can come back and take care of it. It's a bummer to find out that your beautiful new bathroom was originally done improperly, but finding Jeff was an absolute blessing. My dad was a plumber that did a lot of finish tile work, carpentry, bathroom and kitchen remodels. He was a tradesman that took a lot of pride in his work. Jeff reminded me a lot of my dad, and that's saying a lot!

Jeff did a great repair job, he cleaned and reset the existing tiles and any that were loose. He does not have a website or use email but he is very responsive by phone. Being a long distance property manager can be challenging but dealing with Jeff was easy. Highly recommend.

We struggled for over a year to find someone to help us retro-fit our lower cabinet and counter top for a new cook top. Then we found Paul! He made sure to present us with the best possible options and then executed it wonderfully. When I decided I needed doors for my office, Paul was the first person I thought of because I wanted the job done right and to look great. I am so happy with the outcome. I highly recommend him!

We contacted Paul at DesignWorks Company (DWC) to get a bid on renovating our bathroom. Paul got…read moreright back to us and arranged to come look at our (sad, dated) bathroom. He had some great ideas on how to enhance the space, showing us how we could easily have a bigger shower. We checked with a couple of other companies, but went with DWC because we liked Paul's responsiveness, ability to explain, patience, and flexibility. The bid wasn't the cheapest, but DWC did a fantastic job and was worth every penny! Paul walked us through every step, from design ideas to site logistics to explaining the process to connecting us with wonderful, sensible local vendors for tile, fixtures, paint, and window treatments. He and his crew are reliable, trustworthy, friendly, and CLEAN, besides being outstanding craftsmen. The subcontractors he engages are just as wonderful. They all have a good relationship with the city and took care of all permits and communication with the city. His ability to coordinate and adjust schedules kept the project humming along - it was finished in less time than anticipated despite a global pandemic hitting right at the end! He and his subs worked with the city to get everything signed off despite the city's shutdown. If you've read this far, I hope you'll let me share a story or two. How clean are they at DWC? They set up a staging area in a spare room with plastic walls and floor covering, and covered the stairs as well. One day I looked out the window to see them vacuuming the *driveway* at the end of a day when they were sawing outdoors. How good are they? They found a squeaky subfloor board on the landing and fixed it (yes, it cost extra) because they were worried it might warp the tiles in the bathroom. The subcontractors pointed out many times little details that made them want to work with DWC. How creative are they? They wanted to recess our medicine cabinet but found a pipe behind the wall. So they bumped out the wall there so we could have a recessed cabinet (which we hadn't even thought of, but which looks much nicer than one hanging on the wall). How quiet are they? I work from home, and they never disturbed me. Or our dog, for that matter, but she's pretty deaf. In fact, they were always happy to see her, which of course endeared them to me even more. How perfectionist are they? They fixed some dings made in the other rooms in the course of the work and even had the painter do the stairway, even though most of those dings were done by us. Finally, if you've read this far, the DWC crew and everyone who works with them are just plain NICE. It was a pleasure to have them work with us, and I would engage them again in a heartbeat.
