It took me over two years in my 3+ years of living in Lake Elsinore to try this place. Why? I feel like every town has these type of local burger joints that have a bit of everything-some breakfast, burgers, Mexican food, sandwiches, etc. If you've had one, you've pretty much had em all. Some love em, some of us are whatever about em. Not to mention, the locals here overhype everything. When I did finally give them a chance, I wasn't disappointed. I often order the same thing here. Maybe the egg sandwich, a breakfast burrito, curly fries or the kids fish combo. The ranch dressing here is really thick and rich-a good thing for ranch lovers. I noticed if I order fries for dine-in, they're usually hard/crispy, but if I order them via DoorDash, they're softer and the way that I like em. The veggie burger is also pretty good-it's vegetarian not vegan. I prefer it to the one at Douglas Burger. The inside is pretty spacious with lots of booths, some tvs and large fans going. Service is good. There's one restroom, maybe two but I believe the other is employees only. Also, look at the way they sealed my package for delivery. I've never seen any restaurant attempt to seal a drink but it was the first time I felt comfortable enough to take a sip of a delivered drink. Definitely worth a visit. TLDR: It's all right. The SS Burger Basket is a classic 'local burger joint' that also does the usual mix of Hamburger & Tex Mex that you find all over Southern California. Service is of the slow, 'eh, whatever' variety. Tables can be greasy. Sketchy area with potholes in the lot. Burgers are competent, appreciate the toppings and the fresh fries. One time when I was there, it was overly charred and on the dry side. Still, it's better than the local fast food joints without being overly expensive. This town boycott them until they stepped up and do better. The excuse from the manager was "we have a lot of new staff". I've been coming to SS for awhile now because they HAD some bomb chicken strips. I have problems eating and these WERE my comfort food. Sadly a few days ago I came in for my regular (kids chicken strips) and they were so hot they burnt a hole through the container they were in! They burned the hell out of my mouth and I was literally picking dead skin off the roof of my mouth for days! I went through the drive thru this evening. I ordered a family deal. $52 after it was all said and done. I requested some items be left off my burgers and went over this more than a few times. I am disappointed as my request seems to have been completely disregarded. Additionally there was an extended wait in the line. 20+ minutes for 4 burgers, 4 fries, and 4 drinks. We ordered a pastrami burger combo that came with a kids size drink and regular fries, an additional large fries on the side and a side of thousand island dressing ($1.08 small side dressing ) for a total of $22. Not worth it! The pastrami was overcooked and minced, the fries were stale and the soda was all carbonated water. Today's visit reminded me why our family has been avoiding it for quite some time now.
