After a day of shopping for fortune plants, I had a golden opportunity to take my lovely mom to Sabai. We were exhausted and we were famished, so I suggested to have lunch here since we were in the area. The restaurant itself is rather roomy and clean. Pink flowers adorn every table which I thought was special. Buddha sculptures and fortune plants are also on display. They were running a lunch special entree for $8 which includes a soup or salad. I ordered the veggie delight and a Thai lemonade and mom dearest got the Pad Thai and Thai tea. The service here was super quick and the dishes were delicious. The chef definitely made the dishes pretty and our waitress was super nice. The only thing that bothered me was the music. It was a tad loud and distracting, so it was hard to enjoy a good meal. This place is so hit or miss I can't even believe it. Been here many times in the last 14 years. If you want Thai spice, better go back behind the chef to make sure they actually put anything spicy in there. What a joke. Pad Thai tasted (not spicy) vinegary. My wife could eat it which indicates that there was zero spice. What? Will never go back. Hostess was nice and accommodating. Let me start off by saying - LOVE THIS PLACE and definitely a great spot for delicious Thai food! I'd also say this is a nice spot for Thai food "newbies" to get some great food thats not too adventurous for those who aren't used to the unique flavors. I read several mixed reviews and was nervous to order thinking we might not love it, but SaBai turned out to be exactly what we wanted. We had a family of four with two Thai food lovers and two less adventurous eaters, and there was something for everyone on the menu (we were all satisfied). We ordered takeout which is also always a risk (easier to get things wrong over the phone and have some dishes come out at different temps), but everything turned out delicious. We ordered the avocado curry, basil shrimp stir fry, vegetable delight, fried rice and cashew chicken. We appreciated that they asked for spice level, and ordered a couple of the dishes in medium and mild. The medium was SPICY but in a great way (I loved spice), and mild was truly mild with great flavor. They also let us customize our order to make everything with brown rice for an extra cost, which was great since a lot of places won't offer brown rice. Added plus for sure. Don't let mixed reviews scare you from ordering from here - we had a great experience and look forward to ordering from here in the future. Open on a holiday Professional Wasn't expecting this type of experience. Hardly ever order take out, so I was just waiting for disappointment. I was taught to expect the opposite from now on. If you like the perfect amount of spice, order medium. And if you like eggs like I do, you may have to request extra. Whoever took my order, I appreciate you. Did not like the pad Thai. It was a weird texture and had so much sauce at the bottom almost seemed like they boiled the noodle and just threw the sauce on it. I was looking for a Thai restaurant by my new place and found this spot... I entered to an empty restaurant and was seated right away and handed a menu... I looked over the menu and went with the Spicy Noodles with beef and an order of the Bangkok Wings... I rate the Experience as followed. We've driven by this restaurant a countless number of times and finally decided to stop by. The ambiance is casual and intimate enough that it would be a good place to go as a couple or small group (keep in mind that the Saturday evening we went, it was around 6:30pm or so and not busy at all). When we sat down, we were given water with cucumber in it, which we thought was a nice touch & we ordered the Thai iced tea, which was really good (maybe a tad expensive, however, considering the glass was small & it cost $3). After browsing the menu (and looking at some photos on Yelp) we settled on the SaiBai Fried Rice & the Pad Thai for our meals. The fried rice was really unique; it was seasoned with a curry powder which is definitely different ... I personally haven't had anything like it at a Thai restaurant. There was an abundance of chicken, cashews, & cranberries in it along with a few pieces of shrimp (three to be exact), broccoli (again, three pieces), pineapple and some carrots. The pad thai was decent/good - I'm not a fan of pad thai to begin with so I only had a couple of bites. The noodles & meat were tossed in a sweet & sour type sauce. I guess I don't have much more to say about it but my date finished the whole plate so I guess he liked it! We had ordered both of the dishes mild but in hindsight, I should've probably gotten the rice at a mild-medium or medium. I normally don't write anything until I go to the restaurant 5 times. The first time I went there the yellow curry chicken was good. The 4th and 5th times that I went there with the same order, the food tasting has declined from the first visit. Their food tasting is very inconsistent after my 5th visit. The last visit my yellow curry tasted watery. It wasn't creamy. I was not impressed with their food. I have decided to eat elsewhere. I really enjoy the food here and it's convenient to where I live. The reason I give three stars is because someone took me on a date here after I suggested it, and the waitress was rude thru out the entire meal, and when she delivered the check it was awkward she stood at the table holding it waiting for someone to take it, like why not set the check down on the table or give it to the man and let us figure it out on our own. My date did not enjoy the service either. Maybe she had had a bad day? The ladies in my department and I ordered here through Grub Hub. I can't speak to their experiences with their order but I ended up getting Pad Thai and their crispy Thai rolls. The Pad Thai was OK. I found it to be on the slightly sweeter side but it was good enough to satisfy my Thai cravings. The crispy rolls were pretty unique to me as I've never tasted anything like that before. The filling was an unusual blend of veggies but I still liked it enough to finish the order. I would not order from here by myself but if the group decides to get Thai again, I will probably join them. There are other Thai places I would choose first over this. read more

This is the best Thai I've had in a long time. Phoenix has other Thai options, but they're duds compared to here. They can also make anything vegan, and the service is great. I just moved to Phoenix and am on the hunt for a go-to Thai restaurant. After other dinner plans fell through, I ordered takeout from SaBai. I'm very picky about Pad Thai, but this one was great. It was saucy and delicious! The avocado curry was good and had a TON of avocado in it. It was a little runnier than I prefer but still worth ordering again. Just had the most satisfying meal all week visiting Phoenix. It's torrential raining and I don't feel like walking to get dinner. Found this on grubhub and ordered the papaya salad and 1 of the curry dish with shrimp. It arrived in 40 mins just as promised on the App. Food temp is still hot and everything nicely packaged. As for the food - I loved them. Great flavor and curry is not overly sweet or dense. In fact, I ate at Wild Thiager last wk and their 24k curry had just those 2 problems. The curry flavor here is one of the best I've had. I ordered extra shrimp +$3 which there were a lot of and extra mixed veg +$2 which didn't seem enough. It tastes like noddles completely covered in sugar, the vegetables are barely cooked. It's full of liquid..... Could barely eat it. I wanted mild spice and got Zero Spice. I got this food the first night I came to visit. And I was skeptical because I am half Thai and the people working here were not even sure of the menu at all. I got to my hotel to start eating and ALL of the veggies were old. The som tum (papaya salad) tasted sour and there was no dressing. Not like a lime sour, more like an old taste. I also got laab (chicken salad) which also had no flavor and the chicken looks like it came straight from a can. The sticky rice had A BUNCH of uncooked rice piece which made it hard to eat. Also while waiting for the food which I ordered a lot. It only took them 8 mins to bring my food out which if you get Thai food you would know it's takes them a bit longer for them to make fresh. Not sure if they do this on a regular with using old food but I wish I could get my refund while I'm down here, because I will never come back.
