I should've done more research. I never leave reviews but I feel I wasted so much money and it makes me sad lol. I got my hair colored and k tips. I spent about 1200 plus I tipped her 200 because I always tip for service. First of all, she died my natural hair about two shades darker than the extensions they ordered for me and so the top layer of my hair doesn't even match. Second, she didn't give me a hair cut at all. I tried to show her photos of what I wanted and she looked at it for about .5 seconds over my shoulder and said okay and then just cut some off the bottom and blended it a little but it looked very choppy and just not natural?? Like??? It looked so off I had to cut it myself when I got home. Third, I have very fine hair and I like to change my part, she put soooo many k tips really close to the top of my head and near my hairline and I said something while she was doing it and she said when they grow out it'll look better but they're so painful so high up and on such few hairs it's heavy. I had to go home and spent hours massaging some of the k tips out w oil and used hair tools to loosen them I just couldn't deal with the ones close to my hair line I felt like they were going to rip the few hairs they were on out. IT WASNT WORTH IT IM SO DISAPPOINTED. the girl was nice but didn't listen to what I wanted or even try to give me at all what I wanted. It's just a major major waste of money. Probably gonna get them taken out in a month or two. I remember my first time going to Maribel for my hair consultation. She might as well have invited me to her house because that's what walking into Sabino Salon felt like...it felt like home. I'm so disappointed by this salon Let me start out by saying I'm giving them a three stars because they were able to see me within a couple days for a consultation, the receptionist was very nice, and prices were fair. The customer service is the main issue for me here. I understand that they were accommodating me by seeing me sooner than my initial appointment at 4 by letting me come in at 2:30. I've had consultation done before and even when I come in early they usually are able to talk to me within a few minutes, the entire consultation was 5 minutes at most. I waited for 25-30 minutes for a 5 minute talk. All the meanwhile there were plenty of other stylists chatting amongst themselves. I know I get it some may have been on a break or something but still I just didn't understand why one of them couldn't just look at my hair (since I didn't request a specific stylist). Now for my main issue, one of the younger stylists took me over to her chair and asked me what I wanted. I was very specific, And i made it clear what was most important to me by mentioning it about three times in order to make sure she knew what I was talking about. I thought everything was fine she told me the receptionist would tell me the next steps. She walked over first and spoke to the receptionist and I could blatantly hear her mocking me for repeating myself about what was most important to me. I don't understand why she was loudly making fun of me like what kind of person does that? And right there in front of me. Like at least wait till I leave. I'm super picky about who I trust with my hair, I was really taken back when I walked into Sabino..being that sometimes walking into a new salon can be super intimidating but that fact that I was welcomed and immediately offered something to drink completely took that timid ness away, all the ladies are super sweet, I met with ERIKA for my k-tip extensions consultation, she was beyond sweet, very thorough when explaining all the need to know info. Being that k-tips are not cheap she made sure to give me time to think about whether I really wanted them (being that I was 6 months pregnant) any other salon would have just done them to take my money, but she was extremely patient didn't force me into anything made me feel so good like she really cares about what her clients wants. We both decided it's better to wait til I had my baby to get my hair done. In July she went above and beyond to squeeze me in her schedule a day before my birthday. The keratin tips are an investment in myself and so worth it to me, Maribel is an amazing hair dresser and I have keratin tips in which helps your hair grow unlike any other extensions, they are bonded in your hair I been getting them for a year I absolutely love them. I've been going to Sabino Salon for almost a year now (about 8 months?) and it's hands down my favorite go-to salon! I drive all the way from West Hollywood, where there's a hair salon on every block, so you know its worth it! I usually see Maribel, but Brenda and some of the other women have helped me as well-- all *so so sweet*. I first came in because my hair was short, brassy, and with a ton of breakage from previously going blonde. Maribel gave me a free consultation and we decided to go dark and do 18" 808 keratip (100% remy human hair) extensions. I purchased the hair and came back about a week later, for the process that took pretty much the whole day. By the time I left, my hair was the softest and shiniest it had ever been and I honestly felt like a brand new person. She's realistic with what you can achieve and what she thinks will look best- which I really appreciate in a hair stylist. My first set of extensions lasted 7 months and, even though they're a bit of an investment, I just went a few weeks ago to have Maribel remove them and put in a brand new set. Beyond the extensions, I also go in to have my hair styled for special events. She did the best vintage hollywood, pin-up inspired curls for NYE and not only did they look perfect all night- they lasted for days after. Obsessed. Some people are complaining about having to wait for their appointment, but of course if you want to go to a good salon you have to book ahead-- lol! I have to start off by saying that I do not like to change hairstylists! Once I find someone I like, I stay even if the integrity of my hair isn't the best. But, I kept seeing Maribel's (the owner) Instagram stories and they peeked my interest. So after about a year of watching all her hair transformations I decided to go in for a consult. I did have to wait a bit, but Maribel was so thorough in explaining how and why they do hair the way they do, ie. no clients are placed under dryers while bleaching. This is a big no no. Ok, so I didn't want to leave this review because I would hate to bash anyone's work. But considering how much I paid, I had to. I did my hair with Brenda about 3 months ago and I asked for balayage.. what i received was highlights. And everyone kept telling me it looked like highlights! And i thought maybe this was just her way to "balayage"... I recently went for a consultation with another hair dresser to go lighter and even she confirmed they were HIGHLIGHTS.. Just wanted to leave this as a psa for any future customers...be extra clear on what you ask for... I guess me asking for balayage + my picture reference wasn't enough. I'll insert a picture of my hair NOW. Please keep in mind that it's not toned and has no heat.. Its actually been a week since I came in with Maribel to put on some K-tips to even out my hair and has been the best decision ive made. My hair was very unhealthy and uneven. Honestly I wouldn't even want to go out anywhere because of it! I wasn't able to have my hair down at all. I literally couldn't style it in any kind of way and had to have it in a bun which I really disliked.I just didn't feel myself. Though nowww I can actually say I feel myself thanks to her.
