Having been Jonesing for Mexican food for a few days we headed to Sabor A Mexico. We had been here once before awhile ago and liked it but we never came back. Here was our chance. Reading the reviews I was kinda nervous about whether or not it was either going to be Heaven or Hell. Well as like most things like this the truth lies somewhere in between. It certainly wasn't Hell but it wasn't quite Heaven either. The place was fairly crowded but there were empty tables. We were seated right away and chips and salsa came very quickly. Drinks next, wife's margarita was huge and very Limey....quite good. My beer, crack your teeth cold and hitting the sweet spot. I ordered the "enchilada's supremo", one beef, one chicken, one cheese and one bean enchilada. Wife ordered the ceviche appetizer and one tamale, one taco dinner. Food came out within an acceptable time. Ceviche first. This is right proper ceviche, fresh shrimp, good cilantro taste, good spice and heat. Very good. My dinner was very good. The star being the beef enchilada which has the best beef filling ever. Although ground beef it was seasoned perfectly and was delicious. Wife's meal was also very good but her star was the ceviche. So although this was neither heaven nor hell it was much closer to the angels. 4 star good! read more

It's Friday. They are unusually busy and I tried to keep that into consideration. Keeping it short. Our waitress was horrible. I had to get up and ask the hostess to find our waitress for the check. A different waitress comes back to the table and says "what do you need you? Your server is very busy." Needless to say we are still waiting for the check. read more

Ordered from here for Valentine's Day. 2 orders of Pollo Loco (their version of Arros con Pollo), a trio of beef tacos, a kids chicken nugget with fries, and a large queso. The Pollo Loco was good but hardly had ANY queso, we poured some of the side over the top to remedy that. Plenty of chicken and seasoned well. Tacos for our 7 year old were a hit. Chicken nuggets and fries were very soggy, the toddler wouldn't even touch them. We will be back! read more

Chips were warm but stale. Pass. Chimichanga had chicken in it but the chicken was in cubes, and tasted like it was taken out of the refrigerator, nuked, and then added to the dish. Beans and rice were blah. Salsa was tasteless. Waitress was decent. No music inside (4pm on a Saturday). Place was nearly empty. Weird eating in total silence. read more

This was our second time at Sabor a Mexico and it was just as delicious. We landed on Taco Tuesday which turned out to be a fabulous deal. Beef or chicken tacos 99c each! Not to mention happy hour margaritas and beers it was a huge win. We also ordered enchiladas which were fantastic - the sauces were delicious. And quesadillas - rammed full of chicken and cheese. Mixed reviews are strange to us as this place was big value and quality - not easy to find. Atmosphere was great - the place was full and a lineup was forming as we were getting ready to go. Well to start the service was good victor was our server and he was delightful. Very friendly very courteous and even chatted with the kids. however to get to the food the ceviche was not great at all very disappointing my enchiladas the chicken tastes more like tuna and the cheese one was pretty good however the beef enchilada was not very good at all. One of my boys ordered the Mexican burger said it was too hard to eat my other son had the tacos crunchy but they were actually soggy and he didn't care for them. So all in all it was not a good experience. I was really just too tired to cook so I wanted to try something close to home. Next time I'll make the drive! read more

Sabor has always been a favorite. Took out of town family here on a Saturday for lunch. The staff was apathetic and despite it being near empty our food took a while. We have always enjoyed their food, but it looks like they have changed something. Salsa was runny, fajita was rubbery and steak tough. Our waitress disappeared after we got our food and we actually had to call one of the three others who were standing around or looking at there phones to get our waitress and the check. Too sad, top bad. Their guacamole has always been runny, but I was willing to overlook that. 5/17/17 - want to say that we frequently get take out and delivery and you really cannot beat their chicken fajitas and their chips and queso, are so good. The chips are never salty and always crisp. Their queso had a nice kick. The service at the restaurant may be lacking, but frankly since my last review we have only done take out and delivery by bitesquad.com. Never disappoints., just make sure they check your order to make sure everything is there. read more

We enjoyed the atmosphere and service. My husband doesn't write reviews and he would give it a 4. He had the mixed grilled. It was served similar to fajitas but had sausage, shrimp, chicken and beef and grilled blancho. I will post the picture. It it more than enough for 2 adults! We will return. Sabor a Mexico is a tasty place to stop in for a taco! I don't live in Brandon but had heard good things about this place. The chips came out warm and the salsa was flavorful, the right consistency for my taste and not spicy at all but still really yummy. I ordered the Tres Tacos with beef. It is usually served in hard corn taco shells but I asked for soft instead. I loved the freshness of the ingredients and spices used in the meat. Even without rice or beans it was more than plenty and filling. They have mariachi strolling around which I enjoyed throughly. It'd make a fun date night or dinner with the family! read more

Stumbled upon this place as I was driving around looking for a good place to eat dinner. Figured it would be like every place I had been to before and man I was wrong! First off the atmosphere is great whether your are a single diner or a large group. Wednesday night from 5 to 10pm is all you can eat! I was beyond excited. We have been going to Sabor A Mexico for over 3 years now. The people who work there are so nice and the food is decent. They have generous portions for the price. The only things keeping it from a 5 for me is that the ground beef is kind of greasy and the "special" on Wednesday is on the menu for 9.99 for two items, which is SO MUCH FOOD. Wish it was a deal ‍ but I do order the Pancho Villa and it never disappoints. The pollo loco is delicious, make sure you add tortillas Love the environment here on Cinco de Mayo, too. Yum yum gimme some! Went here for the first time last night for a friend's birthday dinner. The food was excellent. I got the shrimp quesadilla. Yum! The shrimp was big and seasoned very well. They have ppl that walks around with their guitars and sing to you. Only thing that I didn't like was the space. If you are in the tables it's a tight squeeze. One of the waitresses hit my my head with a serving tray as she was helping ppl at the table behind us. It was fine and laughed it off but felt bad for the waitress since she kept apologizing to me. Chili rellenos with queso sauce is delicious. Queso is not watered down like some other establishments I have been too. A little meat and a lot of veges on their fajita platter. Ate here several times and only had one bad experience with the food and waiter. No accommodations with our valid complaints! read more

Stopped in for lunch. We tried the cheese dip and the guacamole dip- both had good flavor although the portions felt small for the money. For main dishes we tried a chicken quesadilla and nachos rancheros with fajita steak- the quesadilla was very basic without a lot of flavor. The rice and beans were both excellent, freshly made and well seasoned. The nachos were good. We tried the half portion which was more than enough. We went there last night for dinner. We were quickly seated, and our server was ready to take our order. My wife is a vegetarian who ordered the taco bowl without meat, I had the enchiladas poblena mole. The food came quickly (I wish that they had taken a little longer to prepare it). The taco bowl was full of meat, and the enchiladas had been thrown together. We told the server about the taco bowl, they took it away, and quickly brought a new one. The replacement bowl came back as a soggy new bowl, but without meat. my enchiladas were flavorless and disappointing. As was the taco bowl. The real hit was the bill, over 30 dollars for lousy food. I have been going to this place for several years, unfortunately it has been hit or miss, mostly miss lately. I will not be going back. If I want Mexican food, I will be going to Taco Bell. I went here a few hours ago, and ordered a large Margerita, and the Chili Relleno. The Margerita was very well made, and full of alcohol, The Chili Relleno was awesome, and very large. The refried beans and rice were tasty, and the lettuce and Guacamole was freshly made. I was hooked on the fajitas for a long time and have finally started to try other items. Everything is awesome. The drinks are delicious! Tacos were a joke. Ordered a tequila on the list (Patron Roca) and they brought Patron Silver as a substitute - that is not OK. Service was slow and the server was obviously over-worked. I regret having to write this review because I really like the food, but on 3 different occasions they managed to screw up my order. Twice I ordered a vegetarian entree and got ground beef. The third time they neglected to give me my entree, and I had to make a special trip back to pick it up. All I ever got was "I'm sorry." I don't want an apology.
