CASH ONLY as of 8/9/2024!!!! I've had an obsession with cubanos for years! I once spent an entire vacation in Sarasota just hitting up Cuban restaurants and eat all the cubanos I could. So once I found myself in the area on one of the few days Sabor Miami is open each week, I called in an order of a cubano sandwich ($12.50) and a cubano empanada ($3.50). They were ready in 15 minutes during which I looked around the restaurant's cute interior and themed merch for sale. I ate the sandwich immediately. This was one BIG honker of a sandwich! It kept me full for hours! The bread was toasted and incredible and the pork was tender and salty. The cheese was a bit too processed and of low quality, unfortunately. Meanwhile, the empanada is very small. For $3.50, I was expecting something bigger and stuffed with more filling. This was going to be my dinner (so I ate it a few hours after I ordered it) but ended up just being an afternoon snack. It was tasty though! Apart from the awesome empanadas (with that pink sauce!), I get their maduros and a cafe con leche. I dream about all three when the craving hits. This spot has been on my list for too long and I'm so glad I finally made the call! They were closing soon, but Mariel (?) took my order anyway. We wanted a sampling of things, so we ordered a few things. When we arrived, everything was hot and ready. She offered me a coffee. I don't drink coffee, but I tasted a sip before I passed it off to my husband. So tasty. Comfort in a cup. Cafe con leche. My husband is still talking about it. The Cubano, my main reason for trying Sabor, was unlike any Cubano I've ever had. Better, in many ways. Chilaquiles were super tasty. I have no comparison, but we loved this dish. We live about 20 minutes away, so I don't know if I'd get this again if I wasn't dining in. I love the crispy parts and the soft parts. The pork trop chop was excellent. Super fresh, authentic flavor- which was made even better with the special sauce and pico. Outstanding flavor. Husband loved the empanadas. He can't wait to try a chorizo one. She moved to Cleveland from Miami and has had her restaurant opened here for the last 4-5 years. She is originally from Honduras. EMPANADAS -- I bought the beef with potato empanada ($2.50) and the Signature Cubana ($3) which has beef, ham, cheese, and pickles in it. The beef with potato empanada was yummy and was my favourite. It is full of flavour. The signature cubana was equally delicious and this one will leave you more full or satisfied because it has 2 types of meat inside, beef and ham. So this is a heavier type of empanada. Both of these empanadas that I ordered did not have onions in them which I prefer since I hate onions. This bright friendly and clean local gem of a restaurant is convenient to access from the highway and has parking. It was a 28 mile drive from my Firestone Park Akron home, according to GPS, but smooth and direct-- set your cruise control, crank up the music, and head on in! This place is lovely to visit in the winter, when you're longing for warm weather. I stopped by today to get a couple empanadas and an horchata, while picking up another order. The staff were nice and the order was made in just 10 minutes. I'm surprised I hadn't been here before since it's been open for 4 years but now I know I'll definitely be back. I tried the choriqueso and the Buffalo chicken empanadas. Both were delicious; well seasoned and well portioned. I also tried the Honduran horchata. The chef makes it with lime peels throughout which gives it a unique spin on the traditional Central American drink. Really tasty food. I mean really yummy! Very adorable art gallery and small, doesn't seat very many people. Only one issue - we live right around the corner and every time we crave some Sabor Miami, it is closed. The hours are horrible. I really recommend that you call ahead whether you're eating in or taking out, it takes about 20+ mins for them to prepare your order because it's only the restaurant owner as the cook and one help staff at the register - that's it! We drove up from pittsburgh for a quick weekend away from the grind and I stumbled on this place in my last minute googling for a lunch spot. I found a winner. This place lives up to the reviews. I mean it was great. The staff was friendly and they were understaffed -- the counter person was late or something according to the women who I think was the owner/chef. We tried a couple empanadas and a pork and rice dish. I love Caribbean cuisine and it was the first time my husband and daughter ever had it. Husband declared at one point "ok, I guess I love Caribbean food!" Lol (he is a picky eater even though he will never admit it). Colorful Cuban cuisine at its finest! My favorite spot for Cuban food. I have tried their Cuban sandwich, various empanadas, and also the pork trop chop bowl. All of them were amazing. For the Trop Chop, I mixed the magic sauce and salsa into the bowl and the results were wonderful. Please call in your order in advance as this is a smaller shop and they would have a hard time keeping up with a ton of walk-in customers. Every time I have called ahead, they had my food ready on time and checking out was a breeze. Oh and their Facebook page gives you an idea of the food and drinks they offer. I'm a tad biased about this place. I learned the owner, Mariela is my birthday twin! So aside from being in my neighborhood and serving great food, she's an amazing human being. Been going here for over a year. Sabor Miami is consistent, tasty, reasonably priced and feels like you're in your best friends house and sitting in their dining room. After being saved in my bookmarks for way too long I am happy I finally made my way in. I must admit Yelp gave me the initial push. Now they can't get rid of me! First off the curb appeal alone is just refreshing. I love how the colors instantly transport you from Cleveland to anywhere you know, warm. The interior decor keeps up the feels. There really is a gallery of super cool artwork and merch. This is one of those places where you're sure to see something new in the decor that you missed the last time, every time. The most colorful little corner in the CLE! It's no wonder Sabor Miami has 5 stars. It's AMAZING and truly one of a kind! The Cuban cuisine is authentic and so delicious. I recommend trying a variety of the empanadas. I also got the El Cubiche wrap and the sweet plantains really made it. The coffee drinks were calling my name (iced mojito latte and rose vanilla latte especially), but I'd just stopped at Coffee Coffee Coffee, so definitely next time. I hear their pancakes are good and I'd love to try the Cuban toast next time too! The decor is just beautiful. Hand painted murals and artwork abound. I have been trying to get to Sabor for a few weeks and finally I made it. The Rose Latte was soooo good it had just the right amount of rose flavor and it was creamy loved it! Why have I not been here?! I have been sleeping on this gem that is only 10 minutes from my house, but not any more! My friend and I popped in for a Saturday lunch at this unassuming but cozy spot, and we were instantly transported south. The menu has lots of delicious-sounding options and I had read a few Yelp reviews, so we decided to pick a sampling of things to share. We both wanted to start with a coffee though, me with a more traditional café con leche and my friend with a new special rose latte. Both were delicious and the rose latte was beautiful and fragrant as well! For our meal we started with empanadas - 2 each of the choriqueso and the potato cheese. WOW. The empanada shell was perfection: crispy outside, flaky, soft. The fillings were equally amazing, stuffed with delicious melted cheese and meat/potato. I could eat them every day and never tire! We also ordered the salchipapas - fries with corn, cheese, grilled sausage, and a zesty sauce - which we devoured immediately. It was a perfect combo despite its simplicity. We also ordered a cubano - which we ended up taking to go because we were so stuffed. It was a perfect dinner and I will definitely be back to enjoy it fresh. I learned about this place from a fellow foodie. This place is tucked in the middle among a few lack luster businesses so it is very easy to drive by and not even know it exists. But what is lacks from its outside looks is far shadowed by the quality of the food and service, like a million times over. God bless Mariela, just a Cuban angel from heaven who opened this place and personally painted/decorated the place. She is so humble, genuine and invested in her craft. She is an artist as well, so the front of the restaurant showcases her work. I will tell you that half of my love of this place comes just from my experience with her. She did not seat us nor serve us, she simply came out to assess our satisfaction and despite the number of people in the cafe, spoke with us for at least 20 minutes. But I came for the food, which was excellent as well. The place was so authentic, I really felt like I was in Cuba with respect to the decor and the heat (I will say poor AC or ventilation....even with the door wide open, still quite warm and sweaty inside when I ate there this summer). So i started with a cuban colada for $2.25, which is a cuban espresso, but felt more like liquid cocaine in a 4 oz cup. Like most Spanish coffees it is already sweetened, it was not burnt at all. In fact the flavor was smooth like silk and the energy hit me like an upper punch. I got the Cuban sandwich for my entree for $8.99 (pork roast, sweet ham, swiss cheese, pickles, mayo and mustard). What a deal, I could easily see this priced as like $12 at a normal place. I was pleasantly full at the end. Please check the website for hours as the closing time seems to vary between 2:30 and 8pm. Sabor is a true treasure in Cleveland and an excellent cafe. We are so lucky to have it! The owner, Mariela, is the sweetest person ever. She has crafted a truly unbelievable business bursting with personality. Not only is the food delicious and exciting, but the physical space itself is inviting and inspired. Mariela creates interesting, vibrant art that is for sale (hence, the "gallery" part of its name), and the entire space is photo worthy. It's super cozy and cool! We ate here for lunch and their Cubano was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It was huge and flavorful and felt like a comfort food I never knew I needed. It also made incredible leftovers. I have low expectations for leftover sandwiches, but I literally said to Rosie D today, "How does this taste better the next day?" I also had the mojito latte, which had awesome cinnamon and mint flavors. I recommend both! I was so torn on what to order, but I don't think there's a bad decision. You cannot go wrong with anything on their huge and amazing menu. This is one of my new favorite places and I can't wait to return over and over!
