Stopped in for the first time recently and I will be back - but next time I will make sure I haven't eaten for several hours before coming - as the portion size was generous!!!! My bowl was delicious, my husband and kids loved theirs too! The place was super clean, staff was friendly, went through all the options of toppings, explained the process of selections, which toppings were extra changes, which were spicy etc. We even ordered dessert which was delicious too. I went in expecting a decent bowl but boy was I wrong. The rice was ok and the steak was just genuine garbage, probably the worst thing that's I've tasted. It was like 14 dollars for two things in a bowl and the guy put it in the bag sideways so everything fell out when I opened it. The service took a long time and I didn't even get a spoon. The only good thing about this place was they did cook the steak fresh in front of me. I should have known not to come considering I never see anyone there and the place is always dead empty. Stopped in Thursday night (July 23rd) around 9pm for dinner with my wife. Walked in and stood by the "order here " sign waiting for the employee behind the bar taking care of 2 women sitting at the bar. After about 3 minutes another customer came in and stood behind us. The employee behind the bar was taking shots with the 2 women and showing pictures to them on his phone. The couple behind us walked out. We sat for another 2 minutes and left. This was our first visit to Federales Street Tacos on a Saturday evening. It was busy at the counter where you order food and drinks but we got our food quickly ordering the Saturday Special steak tacos, guacamole and salsa. We also ordered the pastor tacos with rice and beans and the blueberry margaritas. There were tables and booths inside and a bar with seating. Everything was prepared fresh and was perfect. I've gotten food here 5xs since the change over. Was Federales. I stay away from tacos since I like corn not flour tortillas. Quesadillas both large & small are good. I couldn't believe the amount of steak I got on my small quesadilla. Burritos are good too. Flavorful meats abound. Guac is good. I've tried the spicy burrito,super burrito, quesadilla grande, & regular burritos. All were good. Nice looking place inside. The food for the most part is made in front of you. Woo-hoo! So happy to have found this place! We were on our way somewhere else for lunch but turned around immediately when we saw the Federales sign inviting us to "drink, eat & relax". We've been looking for a new Mexican restaurant and Federales did not disappoint. I ordered the chicken fajitas and my husband had the spicy steak burrito, both were excellent and exceeded our expectations. We both agreed that we 100% prefer this authentic, local & independently owned place to chains like Chipotle or Condados. So disappointed. Been meaning to try Federales for a while and was really let down when we finally did. We ordered pick up and realized once we got home they forgot our chips ($5). They were very nice when we called and offered a refund with no problem, so it was disappointing but not the end of the world. My husband ordered the Wednesday special: one chicken and one ground beef burrito, but they were really more like large soft tacos with cheese sauce on top. Maybe it was our fault for assuming, but we thought there would be additional fillings of some kind, like rice. I ordered Birria tacos and while the meat and consume were good, the shells weren't fried. Once again, maybe my expectation was off but the best part of a birria taco is the crispy shell so these were very underwhelming. Finally, we got an order of churros. I don't know if the grease wasn't hot enough or what, but they were very heavy and soggy. They were filled with either strawberry or raspberry sauce, but it was so non-descript that I couldn't discern which. We'll give it another try at some point, but likely not anytime soon. read more

So the food here is REALLY good! Flavor is fantastic! Portion sizes are good. Everything was well made and fresh. Margaritas were big and really good as well...the blueberry was fantastic and filled with fresh fruit. The ordering experience is a bit....odd? The place that this took over from, Umami, had the same problem. One person sort of takes an order and just calls it out to the others. Issue I see if when it's busy in there...things are going to be chaotic with long waits!? I've been in food for a LONG time and you should consider, maybe, ordering from the OTHER side, where the register is, then having a ticket printed for the cooks to work from? Just not seeing how it'll work in there when things get crazy...but..what do I know! Good luck though and we'll be back for sure! read more

Authentic Mexican items on the menu. The employees are not as versed in the English language but you can make it through the ordering process. And that also leads to how authentic their menu is. The seating arrangements are nice. Booths for 4 or 5 and long bar height seats for larger parties. They also sell alcohol so I can get my favorite margarita. Just started going here several weeks ago and now I am there 3ish times a week. Super fresh, friendly, and very clean. While some have said its pricey, its honestly like 2-3 dollars more than a chipotle, and absolutely worth it. And beyond that, they also have daily specials that are exceedingly reasonable. I've stopped into Federales about 3x since they opened. They have a full menu and the food has always been very good. The Owner/Manager is very friendly and the workers take pride in what they do. I hope Fairview Park turns out to support this business and it is around for a long time to come. The only challenge is that the location is the not the best and it is hard to miss as it is set way in the back.
