Sabor Venezolano is easily mistaken for just another taco truck in the taco truck ocean that is Houston. How wrong would you be, my friend. You really need to come here and order what is probably the best Venezuelan food in town. The fact that they are open VERY late night (4am+) only makes it that much better. For the uninitiated, Venezuelan food is very heavily meat and cheese influenced, basically every single dish will have some sort of meat and/or cheese in it. The staple of Venezuelan food is the Arepa, which is a dough patty that is filled with your choice of meats and cheeses. The arepas here are good, better than the competition at Miguelitos. Of the almost limitless choices you have for your arepa filling I would recommend the regular ham and cheese, the "pelua" which is shredded beef and gouda, and the "Reina Pepiada", a wonderful concoction which includes chicken, avocado, and mayonnaise. Another good choice for authentic food that you wont find almost anywhere else are the "cachapas". Cachapas are basically sweetcorn pancakes doubled over and filled with handmade soft white cheese called "queso de mano" that is only made in Venezuela. On top, you'll find a shredded, salty, hard cheese called "queso de año" which counters the sweetness of the cachapa perfectly. All this should be covered with copious amounts of butter for a real, authentic experience (healthy huh?). My gripe with the cachapas here is the same I have with Miguelitos, which is that while they are amazing, the length of time that the soft cheese and pre-made sweetcorn pancakes take to be imported dampens the overall quality. If you've ever had one in Venezuela you'll know that while these are good, they can be SO-MUCH-BETTER. Nevertheless, it is a great place to satisfy your fix, and you can't really blame them for the quality of the cheese, though it would be awesome if they made the cachapa pancakes in-house. Overall, Sabor Venezolano is really the place to go for your Venezuelan food fix, cheaper prices and better food make it a complete no brainer. Add to it that you can hit it up after a long night of partying, and well, it doesn't get any better. read more

I ordered from UberEATS. My group had 3 types of arepas, a torta, and the tequeno guayaba. Overall my arepa was pretty good, I had one with shredded beef. Also, the tequeno was good too, it's like a cheese stick, but the breading is actually a pastry and it's also filled with a guava jam. My friend had the shark one and thought it was just ok for shark. 4 stars because they actually left out one of the arepas in my order, would've been 5 stars. read more

Excellent arepas (corn cakes with various stuffings), platanos (plantains) with white cheese-try the yoyo, carne mechada (shredded beef), tequen~os (cheese wrapped with dough) and deep fried, all delicious! Fantastic cachapa (shredded beef/cheese). Haven't had one in years and it totally hit the spot. Shredded beef was marinated and flavorful and the cachapa was not over cooked and had the perfect level of sweetness. The empanadas were also good, especially the black bean and cheese. I am Venezuelen and am always looking for comida tipical de Venezuela. This food truck is very good and recommend it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it doesn't taste like my mother's cooking and wish the areas with shredded meat wasn't so oily. Other than that, great food. I've confirmed with Two Venezulean that this place is great. After reading the review, I've decided to order Cachapa, Arepa, "Reina Pepiada with Beef. The upside is the food is great and nothing like your typical Mexican or Savadorian food. It will be something new and unique to your taste bud. Down side, the bill came out to $18 total. I ordered Sabor Venezuelano from Uber Eats after wanting to try it for a while. I have to admit there is much better Venezuelan food in houston. The taquenos must have been cooked in old oil because they had an unpleasant taste despite the fact that the cheese had a decent flavor. I also ordered some cazon (shark) empanadas which also had an unpleasant flavor. Finally, we ordered a cachapa and it was not very good. Never coming back to this place & I do not recommend this place to anyone. This was my 1st time at this place & my 1st time trying Venezuelan food. I ordered the Chicken Arepa ($5), 2 fajita tacos & Al pastor taco (Total cost $10.72 with tax). It took them over 15mins to cook my order and I was the only customer there at 10:30am on a Sunday morning. Now it could've been that they were not fully prepared when I showed up but you shouldn't open for business if you are not fully prepped. -Chicken Arepa: The chicken was over cooked and dry. The sauce or marinade they cooked it in was bland and watery which caused the crispy arepa to get soggy when they served it. -Fajita taco: No seasoning on the beef at all, I've had better tacos at other food trucks. -Al pastor taco: I'm not sure what kind of seasoning they use to marinate the pork but it was absolutely disgusting!! I love Al pastor tacos and have had them from many other places so I know what good Al pastor is suppose to taste. It's a disgrace to the Mexican culture that they serve this crap and try to pass it for Al pastor. The corn tortillas for all the tacos were old and not warmed all the way. They do not serve tortillas made from this morning that they could've picked up if they're not going to make it homemade. When I asked the guy what would he recommend, he had to look at a list and choose what to tell me as his "recommendations". The beef fajita tacos were flavorful but the star was clearly the Arepas I ordered, even though I never had one before. It reminded me of a Gordita but made of flour and lighter and fluffier. The shredded beef was chock-full of meat and was still piping hot even though it took me 15 minutes to get it home. I also had the chicken with avocado and egg, which sounds strange, but wound up being tasty, although not what one might look for for dinner. (Lunch item, maybe?) Can't wait to try more! We had arepas and a few tacos. The arepas had beef fajita and Venezuelan cheese and was excellent. It was our first brush with Venezuelan food and we loved it. This food truck has been around for YEARS so that should tell you something already ;) I'm Venezuelan and must say the food here is so authentic, delicious, and fresh. Love how they're open after hours, so you can grab a bite to eat when those cravings hit. The service is friendly and quick. Reasonably priced as well. I have been going to this place for many years now, at least 5 or so. I think the food is good, reasonable price. I am from Venezuela, so I can easily tell when something is good or not so good. There are people from Venezuela in Houston that over-criticize this place because is not nearly as good as what you would get back home. Can't believe I haven't been in so long! But went back earlier today and tried the Jugo de Parchita (Passion Fruit juice), and it was jaw dropping amazing. Just like they tasted back in the beaches in Venezuela. Also had the empanada de queso, and it's texture was on point. After reading reviews, my husband and I headed over on Friday around 1 pm. The truck was just as described, in the corner of a gas station lot. We had arrived after the lunch crowd, which was great. Elisia, who was working the window was happy to take her time and answer our questions. (my husband is trying to learn Spanish) We orderd the arepa (reiana pepiada) and a cachupa. We sat on the bench beside the truck and enjoyed every bite. The prices are listed on the side of the truck, and yes, the cachupa is expensive for truck food at $7. But they have to import the special cheese and sweetcorn cakes from Venezuela! Arepa is only 4. I've eaten at a lot of food trucks in Austin. I love the popular, new way of dining. But hey, I think it's pretty fun to eat at a food truck that isn't trying to be trendy...it's just serving yummy food I've never had before.
