Make sure you eat this hot tho because the fries tend the get mussy if you wait. I also try the tacos and it was okk. The soft tortilla was a bit dry but the meat do accommodate for that. Their service is amazing, the girls that work the night shift still always have a smile on and a great attitude when I know they're exhausted. My husband and I always have cravings around 2-3am. Usually the most authentic I go is Del Taco, but I was assured by the vegan who brought me to Alertos that he had been told both the rice and beans were free of animal products. Well then, bring it! For a mere $3.85, I received a giant, delicious veggie burrito, stuffed with beans and rice, grilled peppers and onions, fresh veggies, and plenty of guacamole (I nixed the sour cream and cheese), all wrapped in one of the better tortillas I've ever had. The hot sauce that came with the burrito was perfect for me (which means those of you who really like spicy stuff will likely find it weak). The facility is pretty clean and when we went around 7pm, there was only one other couple inside. It took about 5-10 minutes to get our order out, even with the drive-thru line going. The salsa bar is plentiful (try the avocado or cucumber salsas!) but you have to ask the staff for little containers. Wish they weren't so stingy in that sense. When I asked for napkins, she looked at me like I was crazy. What's so weird about needing some napkins? I love how late Sabrosada stays open. It's the perfect midnight meal and thank god they have a drive-thru. I get the Carne Asada fries with no beans and ask for extra crispy fries. I've also tried the rolled tacos, and those are pretty good. The portion size is really good for what you pay. I am always full after I have the half size fries, and I can barely finish the full size. I'd say the full size is enough for 2 people to share. I would definitely recommend coming here! I've been an Al's fan since high school (late 90's) and this location was always referred to as "the good Al's". Sure, the other location on Brookhurst was always a local late night grub spot, but at the FV location, you didn't have to worry about getting shot by fast and furious dickheads. The salsa bar here is clutch, and the gut busting carne asada burritos are top notch. I always get a half order of nachos and dump their hot sauce all over it, throw in a big ass horchata and baby, you got a stew goin'. Over time they seem to have hired a more fluent english speaking staff, which is great. I can speak spanish fluently, but not having to order for my whole crew in spanish to ensure the order is correct is a welcome addition. Cons: the place is tiny, and the drive-thru is poorly designed. You can always count on a line if you bust drive-thru, and if there is a line and you want to dine-in, godspeed trying to get into and out of the back parking lot. read more

Alerto's is another incarnation of the series of "-to's" Mexican-styled restaurants. (Alejandro's, Alberttaco's, Adelanto's, Alberto's, etc.) And, if you've been to one, you've pretty much been to all. It's a small, free-standing taco/burrito restaurant that dishes out some pretty mean Mexican food. The thing here at Alerto's, and pretty much all over Southern California, is that the food is consistently great tasting and, as is the case everywhere, they only accept cash. The problem could be solved because they all have ATMs on the premises. The problem could also be solved if they just start accepting credit cards. This location has a drive thru window, which is cool, as well as an enclosed dining area. The place could definitely use a television set by virtue of having an enclosed restaurant to help differentiate it from others (I stress this because many of these taco/burrito joints don't have indoor seating!). You can tell that this location probably used to be a former Taco Bell or KFC just by looking at the exterior. The place is pretty tiny, and you should probably expect to have your food set for take out. (I can't help but keep thinking of one of the originators of the Mexican free-standing revolution in Southern California, Alberttaco's in Cypress, and how they have a whole dual drive-thru window operation down pat). This Alerto's is conveniently located near my office, so I swing by here once in a while for either a breakfast burrito or a carne asada burrito if I need to consume massive amounts of protein. Both items are great, but probably so bad for you in so many ways. I can only imagine that all that sour cream and lard could not help if you're trying to keep the figure in check. I don't usually fool myself into thinking that by walking here would serve to offset the big burrito I'm about to consume, but I do anyhow. Check it out, but only in moderation. read more
