Stopped in today for some early dinner. We were pleasantly surprised by both the attentive staff, and the traditional menu. When visiting a Thai restaurant, We normally just order Pad Thai Noodles and Chicken Satay. As we are planning a trip to Thailand later this year we wanted to expand our palate so we opted for a few different items. We started with the BBQ Pork Skewers which were tender and very flavorful, we ordered two main courses to share; Gai Tod Hat Yai (Crispy Fried Game Hen) and Prince Rama w/Beef. The food was served very quickly. Both dishes were excellent. The crispy game hen (The Bird) was crispy on the outside and moist and tender inside. The Prince Rama had the peanut sauce which had great flavor. We were very impressed with our meal. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure everything went smoothly. After eating as much as we could of the main meal, we ordered the Sticky Rice w/Mango for dessert, which also was delicious. I'd come here just for the wall mural and chandelier! Seriously. The inside of the restaurant is very nice, very clean, and spacious. Service is friendly, fast, and welcoming too. I've never had a bad meal eating in or take out. Sabye claims to be "authentic Thai street food." Well, I've never been to Thailand but I have eaten a lot of Thai food and every dish I've had at Sabye has been delicious. My particular favorite is the Mussaman Curry with chicken ($14): chicken thigh, coconut milk, potatoes, carrots, onion, and peanut sauce in a mussaman curry (dry whole spices like cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and nutmeg). It is served with Thai pancake and steamed rice. You can order it vegetarian style too. My other favorite is the Prince Rama ($13): choice of meat or tofu with steamed broccoli and spinach topped with a delicious peanut sauce and crushed peanuts. The tofu is always my choice. A surprisingly light and healthy meal. The classic dish to try, in my opinion, is the Khao Soi ($13.50): Chiang Mai style egg noodles in a house curry sauce, garnished with crispy egg noodles. You also have a choice of chicken or tofu, served with shallot, pickled green mustard, and lime wedges. The quintessential Thai dish!!! The seafood dish to try is the Crystal Noodle Seafood ($17): stir-fried sweet potato glass noodles with a combination of shrimp, squid, and mussels, onion, green onion, sweet peppers, and carrots. Very filling and warming on a cold, rainy Oregon day. The menu is rounded out nicely with an assortment of fresh salads and some mighty tasty appetizers. I've never been able to resist the Coconut Prawns ($9): fried coconut battered prawns served with fresh greens, plum sauce, and salad dressing on the side. I've never saved room for dessert but the Fried Bananas with Coconut Ice Cream is on my To Have List. If you are in Sherwood and get a hankering for Thai food, this is your best bet. We love Sabye, it's our preferred choice for Thai in Sherwood. Their soups and curry are great. I love the tom kha and the fall yellow curry. We go often and I've always had good service. Service great! Food great! Ordered to go dinner (thai iced tea, chicken satay, and khao mun gai todd). While we were waiting, given water and ficen my thai iced tea. Enjoyed the strong tea! The khao mun gai was eaten right away and the batter when frying the chicken was light and crisp. The chicken satay was four even skewers, tender and flavorful. It comes with a cucumber salad sauce and peanut sauce. The salad and sauce give different flavors so it was fun to mix them and try them individually. Quick light dinner that was just what we were looking for and the service experience (even if it was ordering to go) was great! Best Thai food in Sherwood (okay, there are only two). The food here is different from most other Thai restaurants, mostly because they use slight variations of recipes you get from 95% of the rest in the metro area. Best plates for me are the Garlic Pepper and Larb dishes. Their curries are great, but note that they add fruit to all of them, which is unique but not off-putting. read more

Sabye the best kept secret "hole in the wall" in Portland. Sabye is located in a strip mall but there's more than meets the eye. We went in later in the evening and we were the only people there. The atmosphere and environment was cleaned and well-kept. The customer service is top-notch and family owned/operated. The owner came out to us and chatted with us. We stopped in here on a whim and I can't tell you how glad I am for that! Finally found a top notch Thai restaurant close to Wilsonville! The curry is creamy and homemade. I was told the cooks are all grandmas there that know how to cook authentic Thai. It's true... amazing! We had yellow curry, pad ke mao and the most glorious tofu salad rolls. The fact that I can get khao soi in Sherwood gives this place three stars just for that! Sabye is a "street food" version of a local Thai place that's pretty close to this location. The interior is a bit "quick casual" sparse with an interesting mural on one side. Service is friendly and the menu simple. Their version of khao soi looks really good. Comes with some toppings in the side. Unfortunately the heat levels weren't that great and so the hot oil it comes with is a necessity.
