This is one of our go-to Thai restaurants, and it rarely disappoints. We always order their pineapple fried rice with shrimp, pad spicy eggplant, and green curry--these dishes never miss. This time, though, we decided to branch out and try something new: the pad see ew and egg rolls. Unfortunately, the egg rolls didn't quite hit the mark. They lacked the crispness we were hoping for and they weren't as good. The pad see ew, while flavorful, was a bit too salty for our taste. Next time, we'll probably stick with our usual green curry, which always delivers. On the bright side, the service here is consistently friendly and the restaurant is clean. Been meaning to try this place because of people telling me it's good and I'm glad I did. I paid $17 for a HUGE plate of fried rice with shrimp. Plenty of leftovers for tomorrow. First off the lady up front who is not the usual lady I've seen for years did not smile and was not friendly at all. When taking our order she didn't ask spice level. Which is very unusual for this place. I have been coming to swatadee for over 15 years or so. It has never disappointed. Tonight it did. All three dishes we ordered were not good. The chicken in all three tasted rotten. We ordered the red curry, drunken noodles and pineapple fried rice. Usually these are HITS. I couldn't believe what I was tasting.... This was not the Swatadee I've experienced the last 15 years. After a Google search I found the business owners had changed. Guessing they hired new kitchen staff as well. Although I used to really like this place, the last couple of visits have been disappointing. I went there today for an early dinner and ordered the salad rolls and Lana's noodle curry. The server who took my order was friendly, but she never stopped by to ask if I needed anything - no one did. That was the extent of the service. I was totally ignored expect for taking my order and presenting the bill. I had to get some extra napkins myself at the front counter and wave down the front desk person for some things. The salad rolls were so plain, and blah and the curry was too salty and too spicy for a medium spice level. I can handle spice, but this level was 'hot.' I won't go out of my way to go here again. There are better places closer to me in Tigard and Beaverton. read more

Note that Sawatdee Thai Cuisine IS OPEN during COVID for TAKEOUT and DINE-IN. My family and I came here for lunch after walking around the Tualatin Refuge Park trails. They have a lunch special menu. The prices are mostly based off of the choice of protein: chicken, tofu, and shrimp are $10, calamari and beef are $11, and mixed seafood is $13. We ordered: pad kee mao with calamari ($11), pad thai with calamari ($11), chicken basil fried rice ($10), pad rama with chicken ($10) and pad Thai with calamari ($11) to go. The restaurant had our order ready within 15-20 minutes. Portions are absolutely HUGE. My box of pad kee mao weighed like 2 lbs! It easy could have fed two people. I got 3 stars and it was the perfect spice level- just enough to make my lips tingle without making me sweat. The noodles had plenty of calamari and vegetables (onion, bell pepper, and tomato). The wide noodles were smooth and smothered in brown pad see ew sauce. The rest of my family was also very pleased with their meals. The only disappointment was the Lana's special noodles; the noodles were gummy and stuck together making it impossible to dip or stir into the curry. All servers were wearing masks. Food: I have ordered the pad Thai along with the Thai fried rice. Unfortunately, the pad Thai did not meet my expectations. There is a lack of depth to the flavor that I expect from a pad Thai dish. Same with the Thai fried rice. I ordered spice levels 2 and 3 and did not find any flavor outside of the spice. Service: service is good, with both times being online order and ready before the estimated time. Staff is nice. Very solid Thai food. I ordered Tom yum guong soup and pad see ewe with beef and tofu. The soup was fantastic. Probably one of the best Tum Yum soup I have had and I regretted not ordering a giant bowl. Would definitely order again. Pad see ewe had very good flavor. Spice level was on point. Noodle was cooked very well. The only criticism I had was that the beef was quite tough to chew. Service was prompt and friendly. Overall very pleasant experience. I sick and tired of these Asian restaurants cutting corners and passing off nasty not authentic food as the real thing. I know a lot of people who are not of their culture would disagree. I've grown up on all this food and their food is 2/10 at best. For example their beef Larb is made with ground beef and is ridiculously sweet! It is so offensive that they would make it out of cheap ground beef. Larb should be made with small dice and sliced pieces or beef. Not cut corner ground beef. There is a huge taste difference. And to add sugar to it??? OMG! It supposed to be a savory, spicy dish!!! I have given this place so many chances and it is disgusting every time. Unfortunately in the Wilsonville/sherwood area there is no such thing as great authentic Asian food. I will drive the 1.5hrs to my Mom's house to get the actual thing next time before I drive the 5mins to this place. Will never ever go there again!!! read more

We called in a fairly large lunch order for the ER and everything was packaged up nicely and easy to figure out who ordered what. They got all the orders correct and that's pretty impressive in itself. Everyone seemed to love their meal. I ordered the Sawatdee's peanut sauce noodle lovers with chicken this time. I was pleased with the flavor and portion size but I was very disappointed all my rice noodles were in a clump stuck together underneath the sauce. They should probably toss them in the sauce and not pour the sauce over the top. The other person that ordered the same thing as me has the exact problem with her clump o noodle. I was very pleased with the beef pad see ewe from last visit and I would order that again. They seem to have a great variety and a bunch of lunch specials. They seem like they are doing great business during the pandemic and with all the great flavors I understand why. Safety measures are all in place. But Thai food aficionados come far and wide to this little strip-mall store front for outstanding Thai flavors. The Tom Kha Gai soup is an absolute must. Such excellent flavor. Pad Thai, Green Curry, Panang Curry, Jungle Noodles, so many favorites. All of the flavors are amazing. And that is all that need be said about the food; it is well above your average Thai place. This restaurant is in a strip mall anchored by Safeway, right off of Highway 99W. Getting here is easy. Parking is no problem. This place is decidedly strip-mall casual. You come here for the food, not the ambiance. But do come here for the food. Vegetarians are well-accommodates here... and they generally are at Thai restaurants. Other exotic diets should preview the menu. But, if your diet is like mine: eat good food, then you'll be fine here. Seriously, this is a Sherwood gem. Check it out. read more

We were met with a very unfriendly person upon entering. The younger woman was nicer. I am vegan and asked specifically about their curries and if they were vegan gluten free. I was told yes they were. When we got it I took one taste and knew it had some kind of fish sauce or something in it. I asked again and was told no it didn't. I asked then about the curry paste they use and she went to look and sure enough it has shrimp paste in it. There was no apology or care or concern for the situation. If you have allergies I would be VERY careful here. The owners would benefit from the staff being kind as well. read more

I was in Sherwood around lunchtime with a break between meetings. I could actually eat real food instead of a dusty granola bar out of the depths of my bag! Yay. Rather than post a thread about where should I eat lunch in Sherwood?, I used my handy yelp app like a boss and landed on Thai. This little place is in a Safeway shopping center off Hwy 99 and Roy Rogers. Its clean, nicely decorated, and has about ten tables. I took a cue from fellow yelpers and ordered Pad See Ew. It came with a cup of free soup and a refreshing glass of nice icewater. The noodles were tender and not clumpy or overly oily, the chicken, egg, and broccoli were perfect in a sweet soy sauce that wasn't too sweet. It is $7.50 on the lunch menu and a reasonable sized portion. It hit the spot. The service was efficient and quick. I visited the restroom and it was clean but smelled freaking awful. It reeked of some medicinal, mentholly stuff like vapor rub or something. Not pine sol...I don't know what it was but it was not good.Not helpful to the appetite. That's the only reason I couldn't give a five star rating. I dont usually comment on things like that but it was very unpleasant. The food is delicious though.
