We purchased a 2017 Chevy Cruze in June 2025. Since then, we've had multiple issues. I now believe the other reviews saying codes were cleared to hide problems. We also bought an extended warranty and were told it would cover repairs, yet I still paid over $850 in August/September to fix sensor issues that caused the car to stall while driving. I've now discovered the car had two different size tires and all four are cracked. Clearly, there was little to no quality control before this vehicle was delivered. The most upsetting part is that this car was for my twin teenage daughters. I needed something safe for new drivers, but between the tire problems and sensor malfunction, this vehicle has not been safe at all. I do not recommend this dealership unless you know cars very well and can thoroughly inspect any vehicle yourself before buying. read more

I have to update my review...it took me a long time to do so but I feel like it would be a disservice if I didn't share the outcome. The car drove great at first but after less than two years of owning it, the car died on me despite me taking it in several times for various odd things to do with the engine and even though I was up-to-date on (if not over-diligent with) oil changes. It drove really well for about six months and then required frequent mechanic visits (every few months). The final straw was requiring a new engine, after which I junked the car and cut my losses. The purchasing process was so fast and smooth compared to any other I have had but the car, despite being lower mileage and not very old (a 2016 purchased in 2021) didn't last for whatever reason. It took me a while to update this review because, well, life goes on. But I have since purchased another vehicle from elsewhere. As much as I liked the staff I worked with here, I just couldn't trust it enough to return and give it a second shot. I recently bought a used vehicle from them. I was super excited to buy my very first car. After a lot of research i bought a car that was 8k below market value which is a pro to buying with Sac River. They were really helpful and informative as well as very easy-going with the buying process. Now the tomatoes: i purchased their warranty which covered some fixed within 100,000 miles. Now within a week of buying the car i has a $2,000 repair done as i has engine issues and then another $600 repair the week after because the repair that was done by their shop did not fix the issue. The engine issue also fried the cruise control so i no longer have that feature. Overall, i know buying a used car is a gamble. Sometimes you get a car with no issues and sometime you get one with a thousand. Id say to be aware of that as its apart of life and not whole-fully on the dealer. I reached out recently to view a car, which was in stock. Ahmed told me it had to go to the ship real quick, so I called back a few days later. The lady said it was for a quick maintenance, but after a week they told me otherwise. I was still interested even after the lie, but then they tried selling me a salvaged title for 10,000, and when they said they would reach out when the car was back, which the guy who told me was off for that whole next week. This has to be one of my worst experiences in buying a car. I bought a Honda Accord from the dealer, after about a week a driving the vehicle all of the lights came on my dash. Upon contacting Mohammed he offered to change the part that him and his mechanic thought it could be, but with one condition he wanted me to pay half of the cost. After arguing I really needed the car fixed and decided to go through with it. After a week or changing the part the issue was not fixed, I lost interest in giving more money to Mohammed and his mechanic so instead I went to trusted mechanic where my issue was fixed. I would not buy another car from here because of the poor service and for trying to get extra money out of that I shouldn't have to pay in the first place. The Good: This dealer has a good variety of used cars. Car prices are on the fair range. Sales approach is not pushing. Cars mechanical condition goes from fair to very low and even to unacceptable. We showed interest in a car. We were told it was allow to take the car for a pre-buying inspection as long as the shop was inside a 3-miles radio. SacRiver Auto suggested the shop to bring the car for the inspection. The Bad: TiresPros inspected the car; some safety issues and minor details were pointed out. Based on the safety issues, TirePros tech said he would not buy a car from a dealer that ignored those safety faults. Unfortunately, I decided to buy the car anyway. Thanks God, we pay the fee that allow to return the car within two days. By the end of day 1, we noticed something funny and suspected of the transmission. On the morning of day 2, we brought the car for an inspection at the local car brand's dealer. The first thing they did was a test drive. Within the first 10 minutes the technician identified the transmission was bad and, based on his expertise, it won't last two months. Expect reparation cost, they said, somewhere from $3500 to $5000. Of course we returned the car right away. They refunded the sale price. The low rating is because when returning the car, we pointed out the transmission problem and still that didn't stop them from putting the car available for sale even while we were there; without fixing the mechanical issues. In my opinion, that was not honest since they are willing to sell a car with serious mechanical problems. Conclusion: Do not make business with Sac River Auto in Davis, CA unless they allow your trusted auto technician to run a full Pre-buying inspection. read more

My goal by writing this review is I hope a potential consumer will read my experience and I can help them from making a mistake. I bought a used BMW here three years ago; just haven't had time to post a review. It was pouring rain so I didn't take the car on the test drive I should of taken. That was my fault but the car looked clean. After buying the 528i, I drove it back to Sacramento: 1. Within five miles the check engine came on. 2. Within three months the air conditioning compressor blew out- it cost me $3,700 to repair. 3. Within one year, the engine blew out- it cost me $8,800 to replace the engine. 4. Within the first year I had $12,500 in repair bills. Like most people, I had to repair the car because I had monthly payments. At the time the car cost $15,000 and I had $12,500 in repairs for a total investment of $27,500. It's difficult for me to believe, Mohammad didn't know it was a lemon. He pushed for me not pay the return insurance but I don't think like a salesman or I'm not deceitful. The truth is I feel he knew he was selling me a lemon but what can I do? This is their business and they know exactly what they can get away with. I just hope someone will read this review and think twice about buying their car here. By this point they still have my down payment, I then get a co signer who was AMAZING credit! A day later after i already put money down and get a co signer with amazing credit come and ask me to put $2000 down! They play games with people and are very dishonest. The owner tried threatening me saying dont piss me off or ill come get the car. HE YELLED AT ME IN MY FACE TRYING TO TELL ME WHAT I NEED TO DO. I bring them their keys and the guy has nothing ready! Not a damn thing ready after i called stating I was 15min away. I asked where the owner is , he said he is here on the property, he lied! The owner came speeding down the street walking into the business as if was the baddest man out there. Saying he has to check the damages, there are no damages as to the car was in my possession for 3 days! Also when I put the money down it was straight CASH! He then proceeds to write me a check, after I state I wanted my cash because im not going to wait for your check to clear. The car was detailed when they first received it other than that it had stuff on it that should have been cleaned off with the detail( used car or not) also the gas tank IT WAS BELOEW THE FIRST LINE AND ALMOST ON EMPTY! I ask about the gas and the guy tells me.. its a used car dealership not a new one.. you dont get gas. Soo im supposed to pay for this vehicle let you run my credit get insurance to drive this vehicle off the lot after I juat drove over an hour for this vehicle and your business cant put gas in the tank? I'm a reasonable person who knows that a used car, especially in the sub-$10K range, is going to have issues of some kind and the goal is to keep them at a minimum. I also understand that used car dealers have no real knowledge of the provenance of the cars they acquire at auction and can't be expected to catch everything... but I also want a used car dealer to have integrity if something does go terribly wrong - and the owner and salesman at Sac River passed this test with flying colors. We bought the oldest, cheapest car on the lot, a 2006 Hyundai Elantra for $3999. It drove great, but on the way home (an hour away) we realized the brake lights were not working (that this wasn't caught is a little disconcerting) and the next morning, the electric system started showing all kinds of weird "ghost in the machine" problems, including refusing to turn the engine off! I called Sac River and Mohammed very reassuringly asked us to bring it back. When we finally got to meet with him, he said we could have our check back and cancel the contract, or he would let me trade for another car - with a bit of a discount as well. They were very accommodating and encouraged me to drive as many cars as I wanted to find the right one. The Hyundai may have had a very simple problem, but it could also have been a never-ending $1000+ electrical system problem, so we were worried sick that not only could it cost us a lot more, but that we may have purchased an unreliable car that we were supposed to deliver to our daughter 300 miles away this weekend. End of the story we ended up spending more, but got a very good car with (hopefully!) no more stress about worrying what we got ourselves into. I bought a 2008 GMC Acadia which Mohammad priced at 10K. When I test drove the car I asked if there is anything wrong with the car, they said NO. When done with the test drive I indicated to Mohammad there was weird sound made when driving off and turning, he said he heard that and will fix it. I thought great service. So I bought the car and awaited for the part to come in so their guy can fix it. Meanwhile, I am driving the car and notice the automatic trunk seldom opens all the way and will forcefully close on you. I mentioned this to Mohammad and the said when I bring the the car to fix the other issue his guy will reset the door and fix the door issue. I said great. I finally brought the car in to get both issue fixed. I go home and see the same issues are still there. I take it in to a local car mechanic that found over $3,000 worth of work needed to be done. For one, the strange noise that occurs when driving off was not what Mohammad's thought, it was the steering pump which the mechanic said was about to fall off and needs to be addressed immediately. Mohammed's guy never fixed the auto trunk door. It actually starting occurring more often. The car mechanic found out that the car had a recall on the auto door. This was not told to me when purchasing the car. I ASKED WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. I UNDERSTAND THAT I AM BUYING A USED CAR, I JUST WOULD LIKE IT ALL TO BE FAIR AND KNOW WHAT I AM BUYING. IF I AM BUYING A 10K car with no issues, I should expect the A/C to break down, the trunk to close forcefully on my wife and the steering pump to fall off. That majority of that 3K was the engine mount, front struts and rack and pinion. My only guess is this place buys cars and marks it up according to how much they thing they can get for it and not the true value of the car. And it seems they do not even check out the cars to see what is wrong with them. You would think car selling places would have a mechanic on staff to evaluate the cars. What should the resolution be? I bought a car at 10K because they thought nothing was wrong with the car. Now I have to spend 3k to get my wife a good running car. If you buy a car which I don't suggest you do, bring a mechanic to check out the car and also do all the homework you cannot rely on this dealership to sell you a good car. Oh that's not it. Mohammed's said all he will do to help me is pay for the labor to replace the front stuts and my part will be just the parts which is $375. I priced the parts at Oreille's. Parts total is $250. Labor is 3 hours and his guy's rate at $40, that $120. Total parts and labor is $370. Mohammed again meets my expectation of a used car salesman with trying to get me wherever he can. This doesn't help me at all. I am paying for the whole thing plus he is making 5 bucks. read more

If you're expecting to negotiate, look elsewhere. One of the sales associates, Prescilia, told me the price is firm on a 2015 Nissan Versa. They asked for $6,499, which is $2,149 over the trade-in value according to Kelley Blue Book. In fairness to the dealer's credit, Prescilia was friendly, but it's a shame that we couldn't come to a deal. HA! First of all. The number was hanging off the front end and the rim was destroyed. Someone had driven over the curb. The lip around the window was torn off like someone has tried to break in through the side window, dents EVERYWHERE. The trunk was smashed in, the back tire was flat. Mohammad was personable and when the vehicle my daughter bought blew a head gasket within hour of purchase, Mohammad worked with me and paid for the repair - even offered to take the car back. Mechanic said the car was a decent car so we kept it. Now we are on our third go-around with issues - the car just won't hold coolant over time. Also - (and I understand Carfax reports are based on transparent reporting) we discovered that the car was in an accident even though it had a clean Carfax report. If I were rating Mohammad on his personality, certain more stars, but we are not happy with the purchase overall and wish we would have kept looking. I had been searching for a BMW 330i for my 17 year old son. I have always bought new or lease return cars from a dealer and was a little reluctant to buy an older vehicle from a small independent dealership. So after searching around Sacramento we headed out to Davis to look at 2003 BMW 330i with 127k miles. Mohammad greeted us professionally and explain he bought the car from Car Max and the car was in great shape. The body and interior was fantastic the engine idled smoothly. It drove great all electronics and A/C and heating worked well. Mohammed said he drove the car for three days 40 miles plus a day parked it in the same spot no oil leaks and ran smooth. So I had looked at the carfax assessed the car worked out a price and shook Mohammad hand with his promise it was a good safe car for my 17 year old son. 40 miles after driving it the check engine light came on we took it to Roseville BMW where my friend is a service rep. At dealer price which is 175 dollars an hour, parts and labor for all the problems with the car $12,700.00. I called Mohammad he agreed that there was probably some wear and tear parts that a 127k probably needed. But he didn't agree both catalytic converters were out and all 4 O2 sensors. BMW doesn't know how it passed smog, BMW price labor and parts $6800.00 dollars. Mohammad focused on how crazy that was, he said he would help out, but not by taking the car back. He had cashed the check I had bought it as is, so I don't have a legal leg to stand on. Help would come in the form of using his mechanic in Davis at $50 dollars an hour, I live in Roseville and him buying parts at a discount with his dealer licenses. Car is missing firing on cylinder 2 and 4. Idles very rough, back brakes almost gone, front rotors to small for the car. Ignition coils all cylinders $250 from Bavarian Auto parts, spark plugs $30. Front and rear brakes and rotors 290.00 on Amazon Geniune BMW brakes. Labor from friend who works on BMWs $250.00. So $800 dollars invested so my son can drive the car safely. Other hoses and two oil leaks one from the oil pan which is a $18 gasket however you have to lift the engine off the frame to get to the 6 bolts and take the pan off, so about 5 hours of labor. All of this about another $2500.00. Now as far as the catalytic converters goes two other shops, one is a muffler shop the other is a BMW shop both said yep their failing diagnostic testing. Buying a older car at a small dealership very pricey, Mohammad's handshake and promise to help out worthless. However, this is mostly my fault by not slowing down and requesting a mechanic to look at the car first before making a purchase, very expensive lesson learned. read more

Unfortunately, the only way we could have found all the issues is by opening the car up and doing a full diagnostic. They sold us a car with parts installed that don't even belong to the vehicle. Parts belong to a different make & model. Odometer reading that was found through the LCM does not match what is reported on the dash or any of their paperwork. The vehicle overall has an estimate of $7,000 in repairs. I bought the vehicle for $5,700.00. Not to mention, Mohammed stated he will not negotiate with us and he is conscious clear that he did nothing wrong.
