I have nothing but amazing things to say about this office! My 3-year-old son recently saw Dr. Chelsea Townes-Francis, and I was blown away by how well he did. She was so patient, kind, and gentle with him--he absolutely loves her! Dr. McKay and Dr. Dobbs are also incredible and always go above and beyond. The staff is extremely respectful, explain everything clearly, and are upfront about costs, which I really appreciate. I even travel all the way from Queens just to see them. If I can give them 0 stars I would but Sarah Office Manager referred my case to Premier Ortho in Patchogue and I met Dr. Joseph Sleilati and he saved my tooth from Sachems Dental Practice Butchers. They are money grabbers and botched a root canal and push implants on patients to get more money since insurance does not cover cosmetic dentistry. Stay away from Sachem at all possible!!!!!!!! I was crying knowing what they did to me is corrupt malpractice and should be shut down! They caused an infection by doing a botched root canal causing me almost to end up in the hospital a gum was spewing blood. Dr. Slelati at Premiere Ortho in Patchogue not only saved my tooth but comforted me and talked me through all he was doing during the process and relaxed, he was honest and advised me that he would do what ever he could to save the tooth. At the end not only did the pain stop but I was relieved to find he saved my tooth and could save the other that Sachem wanted to extract. read more

Wiped out my annual insurance using a ."specialist ", when the general dentist i have used in the past completed all procedures. $200.00 for sweet air? The customer is not considered nor cared for. Complete rip off. I'll deal with my issues and wait for the new year. Good care is not an option it is all profit driven. Plus the endodontist (root canal). Was nasty and rough. Avoid this place. I would not recommend Dr. Julia McKay- unfortunately she is the only oral surgeon in this location and I had a very bad experience with her! As a medical professional- caring compassion & professionalism are VIP traits one must have! With my experience in my last visit with her she didn't exhibit any of the above- unprofessional, rude with ZERO compassion! I am in the process of dental implants one on the right side & one on the left side- she gave me a needle to numb my mouth however apparently it wore off quicker then her procedure so I felt pain and dealt with it because she kept telling me she was almost done - she ended up accidentally cutting my left side of mouth and had to stitch me up - accidents happen though There were two girl assistants in the room also during my visit - it appeared to me that they weren't properly trained as I almost choked 2 x - once when they shoved gauze in my mouth to deep and the other when they shoved the x ray instrument in my mouth- I literally was sick to my stomach and vomited outside when I got to my car I called the office immediately and was told that Dr McKay had already departed the office and there was nothing they could do for me until Monday - this was Friday I stressed concern about having an antibiotic because she accidentally cut my mouth and ibuprofen for pain - it took 4 phone calls to get them to finally call in an RX to my pharmacy! I was in pain for the next 5 days & used all of my antibiotic rinse! It's a shame that she is the only oral surgeon on board here! This is by far the worst and most unprofessionally run dental group I've ever experienced in my life. For months they have been sending me a surprise bill for $500 and then they have been threatening to send me to collections when I didn't respond to their correspondence. I've spoken to their office manager and their billing department on multiple occasions in which I was told they would bill my medical insurance or try and submit different insurance codes for the procedure they did on me over 2 years ago...when I tell them they told me this procedure was covered by my insurance before I even walked into the office they told me they "spoke to the doctor and he told them to charge me $500"...their office managers and billing staff and rude and very short on the phone. The only redeeming quality of this office is Dr. Mazzola (Jr.) and his assistant and the hygienist Dawn. They are the only decent people I've encountered in the office. I should have listened to the countless people who told me Sachem Dental wasn't a good group to go to. I will never go back to them. Also their online bill payment doesn't even give you a confirmation number when you pay the bill so I wouldn't be surprised if they try and claim I didn't pay them the $500 that they STILL will not explain to me why they are charging me that amount. I am no longer a patient there after the terrible way that they have conducted themselves. There is no integrity in this office whatsoever. If they send me to collections after I paid the money to avoid them ruining my credit they will be hearing from my lawyer. *** I just want to update this review by saying that the main office manager got in contact with me after they saw my negative Google review and did apologize to me for the way that I was treated by the front staff and billing staff she implored me to stay with the practice given that I really do like the doctors and hygienist, and she was probably the most professional person that I have spoken to in the last six months trying to dispute this bill or even get a simple explanation... While I appreciate her calling me and being extremely personable with me, I believe I will still be setting out to find a new dentist. read more

To be fair I've always had positive experiences here, the doctors thoroughly diagnose there patients and the staff works effectively. I never once had an issues with my teeth after going here, If anything my situation was fixed. I've been to plenty of dentist through my life and experience a lot of negative/miss diagnosis. I work in an office myself and I feel this is a better dentist office to go to, the doctors are absolutely terrific and care about you. I highly recommend this office to anyone. read more

Remove dr Woolf from your practice. How is it I'm in more pain than what I went in there with. He "fixed" a molar that I didn't have any issues with and when I eat it's sends a throbbing sensation throughout my entire jaw. He didn't put enough filing in my tooth. Soft foods cause me pain and when I expressed that the tooth he had previously "fixed" was in pain he brushed me off like I'm a hysterical woman. Disgusting behavior and unprofessional. read more

What an awful experience! Firstly, I must have had at least 10 reminders through text, phone call and email to confirm my appointment. On the morning of, I received the paperwork one hour prior to my appointment, which I thought was odd seeing the number of aforementioned reminders (a perfect opportunity to send the paperwork). Once I got called in, The X-ray technician was NOT friendly in the slightest, (no "hello, my name is" "how are you" just "take your earrings out." After the x-ray she whispered something, (I'm guessing, "follow me"?) and then disappeared, leaving me wandering in the hallway. Several employees saw that I didn't know where I was going, and said absolutely nothing. The hygienist was rude, cold, and impersonal. She told me since I was normally a patient at the Broadway location, that they have no way of looking me up in their system, and that I would be liable for any fees. This would not have been an issue, if her delivery wasn't so rude and cold. I felt very judged and embarrassed from her passive aggressive comments made in front of me to the doctor, regarding having difficulty with my cleaning. The dentist seemed like he would rather be anywhere else, did not engage at all, and honestly, made me feel like a nuisance. I was maybe in the dentist's chair for a total of 10 minutes, including the cleaning. Afterwards, when I asked the hygienist if I should come back in 6 months or one year, she was VERY rude and told me she wouldn't know, and to call the Broadway location. Their only redeeming quality, was the receptionist at checkout , who was very sweet. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but I would definitely not recommend this location. The staff at their Broadway location is absolutely wonderful, so I was highly baffled. Very disappointed. read more

No stars! Orthodon strung me along for 4 months. only to be told I wasn't a candidate with no explanation why whoever called me just said you're not a candidate. I don't have access to your records. I can't explain it to you after I went to multiple doctors upon their request. First, they blamed the insurance that went on for three months, even though the insurance had approved it, I guess I don't make enough money to support their lavish lifestyle and to give somebody a reason you're just not a candidate with no explanation it's totally ridiculous. Very professional clean office. This place is well organize and knowledgeable . My daughters have anxiety when they go to the dentist but with this office they are much better than other places. They are more relaxed at sachem dental. My nine year old went for a cleaning and turned out she needed a lot of work done in which they took care of within half hour. This is a profit oriented office. They seem not to care about their patients health, just seeing how much money they can make. I reiterated the fact that I was allergic to codeine on March 22 and it was updated personally by Dr. Christian DiTolla in their computer system. On March 24 Dr Chaudry wrote a script for me for oxycodone, which is a derivative of codeine. Thank God Walgreens warned me. I have a cavity which they claim not to know how long it has been there, despite that fact that I have been seeing Dr William DiTolla for over 50 years. When I asked Dr Christian DiTolla to check prior records I was told they don't keep them. There is something fishy going on at this office. Beware! read more

The hygienist that did my cleaning was the best. I have never had a more relaxed experience then I had yesterday The issue I have is that it takes 8 months to get an appointment and if for some reason you have to reschedule, you have to wait another 8 months from when you call. Insurance allows a cleaning every 6 months but you can never get that. My suggestion is to schedule two cleanings. The first will be 8 months out then the second 6 months after. Hopefully nothing happens that interferes with those dates. Dr. Wolff is the best. Great dentist that takes the time to talk to you and does a great job doing his work. You need to know your coverage if you have insurance. If your not sure what is covered and what isn't, before agreeing to any procedure, check directly with your insurance. They told me once that a cap was not covered but in fact it was. Not only was if covered, it was already pre-approved. They girl argued with me and made me wait several weeks because I told her it was already pre-approved. She said she had to verify it herself and not take my word. read more

Easy going guy here. Never left a yelp review but unfortunately the series of events that transpired at this office has left me fuming enough to have to let others know about it.... I had a family member who worked here for years before moving to another state. So when I moved to town myself, I figured I'd go where my family member had worked. I went in for a dental check up, knowing I would probably need some perio work done. They referred me to their doctor palmaccio (check spelling). I left them my insurance card and was eager to set an appt as they prognosis, they made it seem, was dire. 3 months went by without a call to set up an appt as promised. So I decided to call them. They told me that they weren't sure if my insurance would cover it but someone found out the next day they would. Hmmmm. Unfortunately, i still had to go to the back of the line and wait approx another 3 months. So 6 months after being told it was urgent I get into see the perio I have my appt. This guy seems like he would just rather be anywhere else. I told him I was eager to get the scaling and planing going as I want to correct the issue and he basically told me I was spending money for nothing as it's really just a deep clean and he would bet he has to do the expensive surgery anyway. I figured maybe he was having a bad day so I tried to make him laugh and be as friendly as possible. We all have those days. So the next appt available to finish the second part was yet again months later. Upon the second visit I figured maybe his demeanor would be different as I thought maybe just a bad day. Nope same condescending, seemingly uninterested guy with terrible bedside manner. I try always to never let someone else's attitude affect my own. So I chat him up trying to show him I'm a nice guy no worries bud. Again set an appt for a check up on that work months later... here's the last straw... I speak with the office two days before my appt and let them know that as a small business owner I didn't realize months prior that this date would be difficult for me to keep. She told me she could try to get me an appt in late April if I wanted. I explained that it was just a check up and that, being that I've done this before, I wouldn't be in the chair for longer than 3-4min. She agreed but said there was nothing she could do. I told her to keep the appt and I would try my hardest to make it. So, two days later I close my business early, which is 70miles away(as I explained to them) and made the drive that because of LIE traffic got me to their door exactly 14min late. The receptionist, while nice (that's the sad thing the people up front behind the desk are all helpful and nice), told me she would have to check with the doctor if I could still be seen. I told her to please let him know that I tried to get another appt but was told 5 months wait, so I kept it and closed my business for the day and drove two hours to get here. I know I'm 14min late but I also know it's just a 3min follow up (in which he would prob just be doom and gloom anyway) and to please explain that I am sorry but these are the circumstances. The young lady returned with nothing but the doctor said to make one of those spots you talked about 5 months from now. I dislike tardiness myself but I've looked past a lot with this office and have waited an ungodly amount of time in direct contrast to what they told me I needed to do. Out of every doctor/dentist etc I've even been to this has got to be my worst experience ever. I knew I should have ran when the waiting times were so long. The business needs more perio on staff because they are def doing their current patients a disservice while, business-wise, giving up profits due to not being able to service more clients. Oh and, I've asked this office three different times if they had other doctors that could help with the time issue or scheduling as I'd be open to work with multiple perios if it was easier and they said that I could only be seen by doctor palmaccio as he is "your doctor now." I had a deep cavity last year. The dentist told me to keep an eye on it. I started to have pain in the tooth and went in, they said x rays showed nothing wrong with tooth or root/nerve. Now here I am 2 months later after seeing a different dentist that I have severe bone loss from an infection that was obviously overlooked. I have a real phobia about having dental work (I practically have to take a tranquilizer just to make the appointment) but they do everything they can to relieve that fear. And the work they do is top notch. Even my temporary partials fit well. My daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter all go there and feel the same about this group. I would highly recommend them! I came as a new patient for a cleaning. The scheduled a 30 minute slot for a teeth cleaning with exam, x rays and room prep. The cleaning lasted 5 minutes. Horrible. 2 toothpicks could have done more. Now my mother in law called for appointment with a dental surgeon due to pain. The person scheduled an appointment for her and gave her the fixed price of $165 because they don't take her insurance. She told them what was happening but they never should have made appt as they can't help her. They took X-ray as soon as she walked in and then dentist said she can't do anything. Dentist said to go to stony brook and walked away. Wouldn't even look at the sight of pain. Had no problem taking the $165 even though they did nothing though!!! read more

I was in Long Island for business for 2 weeks last month and cracked my tooth on a Monday. Someone at the Marriott Courtyard hotel recommended Dr Woolf at Sachem Dental. I called and the office squeezed me in the same day! Dr Woolf repaired my tooth and ended up giving me a crown the next week. Price was the same as my dentist in Florida charges, and when i returned home - my dentist checked out my crown and told me that the work done was exceptional. Very happy with Dr Woolf and his office for helping me with this emergency dental problem!! Can't thank him enough for helping me even though i was from out of state! Dr Woolf is about the nicest dentist I have even met. Not only has he really made a difference in the overall health of my teeth, he has made my fear of dentists a thing of the past. My husband had a root canal with Dr Francica who was professional and did a great job at minimizing any pain he'd feel during recovery. My daughter recently saw Dr Woolf for a checkup and fitting for a new crown, plus a typical hygienist appointment a few days later, and all went well. I grew up in a time where we really didn't like going to the dentist, but Dr Woolf has made it a whole different experience for my daughter. The office is clean and modern, the staff is friendly and professional, and me and my family have really had nothing but a good experience at Sachem Dental. My experience with them has been terrible regarding scheduling. We book our appointments 6 months out and then we get a call a day or 2 before the appointments to tell us that they have to be rescheduled and we are having to wait 7 months for the new appointment. I understand Covid but this has happened several times to my family. I think that when open enrollment happens, we will be happily changing providers. read more
