I have been coming to Sachem Dental for years. Dr. Mazzola is the best out there. He truly cares about his craft and the patients. He remembers me every time u come in and has sincere conversations. Today I had a cleaning with Terrianne and wow do my teeth feel clean. Not to say other hygienists did not do a good job but I really liked Terrianne. I don't even know where to start used to be a good dental practice. My god this place has literally fallen off a cliff. They lie cheat and steal , they actually did work that wasn't needed and so badly done 3 months later after spending over $2000 on tooth had to be extracted. They tried charging me for stuff that my insurance paid for. This entire group is like a bunch car salesman trying to sell you stuff you never wanted then surprise you get a bill for it. They told me my son who's 7 was not on the insurance when I clearly called the insurance and he was. I cannot believe how ignorant these people are. Also , the dentist in here aren't even that great. Nowhere near as good as they used to be. The office staff is absolutely terrible. No customer service skills what so ever. Here's one example- a woman called me from their office and told me that they needed to change my appointment because the doctor had an emergency. That's fine, except it was nearly 20 days before my appointment. I found that odd but it's what she said to me next that made me start looking for a new dentist. She told me that she could give me the number to some of their other offices so I could see if they had a dentist who took my insurance. So what exactly is her job? Shouldn't she have had that information for me when she called? Why exactly is she there? Just to disappoint people? It's a shame because Dr Vogal has been my dentist for 20 years and I think he's great. I just can't tolerate an office staff as incompetent as this one. read more

The Dental hygienists here are great. The dentist that told me I needed 3 fillings which caused me many days of pain as my teeth were drilled too deep hitting a nerve. Should have went for a second opinion. Learned my lesson for next time. If it's not broken, don't fix it. They ruined my teeth. Not happy with this place. read more

I arrived for my appointment on time, the woman at the counter was on the phone and ignored me while I waited standing for 5 mins. I finally sat down and when she go off the phone I got up and reminded her I was there and asked if I needed to checkin. Normally there is a sign in clipboard but not today. She asked for my name and then told me I was late for my appointment and said they could not see me. At that point it was 13 mins late. Unbelievable! I reminded her once again I was here all along, her colleague agreed I was there waiting for her and also 2 other guests in the waiting room agreed and could not believe it. On my originally scheduled appointment day, I arrived to a very crowded waiting room with several more people present than there were seats allowed. Due to Covid, I believed it was not wise for so many people to be together and chose to reschedule my appointment. When I rescheduled my appointment for a cleaning, I specifically asked that the appointment be made on a date and at a time the dentist I usually see would be present. However, at that appointment, after I was already in the chair and prepped for cleaning, I was advised that my dentist was not there and never works at that time of day. The cleaning was more messy than usuaI. I expressed concern to the dentist about a particular thing I am experiencing, but he just asked if I was in pain because of it, checked my teeth as usual and was done with me. My family and I have been going to our dentist in this practice and his hygienist for many years without any problems. I am disappointed that with changes in staff, the quality of care provided was not satisfactory. read more

Dr, Renda is a great dentist. He is very smart and explains everything to you as a patient. He really does a fantastic job. I have also had appointments with Dr. Seltzer for root canals and he was also an excellent dentist. Sachem Dental has also put in place many new steps to remain safe during the pandemic to limit the number of patients in the office, temperature taking, etc. I would definitely recommend Sachem Dental if you need a dentist. read more

If i could give this 0 stars I would - it is soooo sad how they have treated me. I have been getting all my services done here for months, and my services for my implant got pushed back due to covid (understood) so insurance got all mixed up and I ended up having to owe more (less was covered) no problem. I ended up also having a baby in december 2020, no prob i received notices to an old address so had no clue that there was a balance, finally someone called me and I made a payment right away, and what i thought was recurring payments, wasn't. A month after, they didn't bill me, I didn't realize obv because I had a newborn, and they sent me to collections the following month. THEY WILL NOT TAKE A PAYMENT FROM ME UNLESS PAID IN FULL, I GUESS THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT COVID OR ANYONES SITUATION RIGHT NOW, OR GETTING PAID. So thanks, I will go somewhere that actually cares about their patients. I have reached out many of times to settle it so I can continue to be a patient there. Never had any problems until now. I formerly had a long time dentist located in Queens and wanted to change to a group located close by to my current residence in Nesconset. I found that Sachem accepted my insurance and decided to make an appt. Everyone was very helpful and informative. My experience with some procedures were great. The most recent visit was a very pleasant experience..Danielle, the dental hygienist, was amazing! She was very gentle and made sure that I was doing okay during the cleaning. Do not think about going to this office! The staff is so unprofessional, rude and not courteous at all. Looks like they want their patients to run away from them because the way they treat them. I got 10 minutes late to my appointment exactly 10 minutes, on the top of it I have called them before to ask if it's okay that i would be 10 minutes late and they told me to come anyway, when I reached there they took me in for x-rays then informed me that since they are Overbooked they won't be able to do the cleaning, duh! Why did they make an appointment at the first place if they were overbooked or took my xrays? They made money out of my xrays and turned me away. I myself run on a very tight schedule, I don't have time for all this. I will never go to this practice ever. If you want to save yourself time and energy don't go there ever! read more

i was told no out of pocket for my insurance. First they billed me 375$, call and they reduced it to 50$. Call my insurance to see if they should be billing me and Sachem Dental put it on my credit report as a charge off/ jugement . My insurance came back that it should of been no charge. Dr. Renda has been amazing with my teenage son who is still nervous about going to the dentist. Unfortunately he needed many visits. I was concerned my son wouldn't go back after the first appointment. After his first visit he felt at ease and now it's no problem at all getting him there. I'm so grateful for the nesconset office. Outstanding experience...CLEAN office, friendly staff, didn't try to upsell services like so many dentists these day do. Went in with broken molar. Hello I have been using sachem dental group for years my family also we never had any problems until recently while going to the Nesconsit office I had some very legitimate and serious questions about my dental care it involved cancer and the office manager could not have been more rude I have never been treated so poorly and disrespectfully in I a medical setting in my life. I had some serious questions for my dentist and oral surgeon and the office manager could not even attempt to answer my questions I don't even think she told the doctors no one called me back after multiple friendly calls. It was as the office manager really did not want to even be working at all and did not want to be bothered with anything at all . The problem was never resolved I would not recommend sachem dental group to anyone they really don't care for their patients.the office managers name is Leanne she is extremely dishonest and nasty. read more

They have late hours and many dentist, but that's as good as it gets. They are so unorganized, it's crazy. I was called in early to come for my appointment since the doctor was ahead of schedule. I ended up waiting for 45 minutes in the waiting room after signing in. Then I got a call from the receptionist I had been sitting across from in the waiting room for 45 minutes asking me why I hasn't arrived yet. Are you kidding me? Even though I signed in in front of her and had been sitting across from this woman for 45 minutes, she didn't know I was there? Having had a broken tooth for a long time and of course, I waited until I had an abscess and much pain. I called Sachem as it was my insurance plan provider. The oral surgeon Kristin Leis and the assistant (sorry I forgot her name but she was beyond wonderful) was patient and soothed my nerves. I am not a fan of dentists, not saying it was a pleasant experience but my fear has been lessened. The most unorganized dental practice on Long Island. I made an appointment to finish a crown that was started when elective surgeries couldn't take place. Called and confirmed the time, all good. Then when I got there I was lied to and told my appointment was much earlier in the day than I made it and told to come back in 3 WEEKS. Meanwhile I have a temp filling That is chipping away. In three weeks the already weakened tooth could break further and I could have to replace the tooth (more money for them). They couldn't help me with that either by replacing the temp filling with another temp. They couldn't even find my file when I first got there. Yet the office was full to capacity (obviously double and triple booked) with people in there waiting long times for appointments much earlier than mine. Total mess over there. Not the first time this has happened either, this being the one that could cost me the most. The place is going down hill in a toboggan. Seen it coming for years but it is time for me to find a new dentist and I recommend anyone reading this to consider what I've wrote here and make your own choice.... read more

I am generally a cynic, but I was truly impressed with Dr. Georgakopoulos at Sachem Dental in the Nesconset office. I went in to replace a night guard after I needed a crown and it didn't fit. Rather than trying to push un-necessary services (as is so common today) Dr. George offered to adjust my existing night guard to save me $650. On top of that, he didn't even charge me for his time to adjust the night guard. Beyond being conscientious of cost, I find the staff to be very warm and kind. I also find their extended hours to be convenient for those of us who have day jobs. I would recommend this practice to others. read more

THE WORST! The front desk is beyond immature and not helpful at all. I go here for the orthodontist and dentist. The orthodontist was good at first then I began to see a shift in my teeth after having braces for the THIRD TIME and she couldn't give me the time of day to help. When I called to make the appointment to re-bond my teeth back together, I made it clear that this is what I needed done. Nastily I got into the room and the orthodontist refused to do it giving every excuse why she couldn't meanwhile I know she wouldn't because she was running late. That day I left angry and tooth left the same and unfixed and she didn't even attempt to follow up! She was extremely rude and gave A LOT of attitude. Next I came here for the dentist. My dentist is overall a good dentist, nice and does the job right. However it's impossible to get into your appointment at the right time because the front desk is ALWAYS messing up. I got here today at 12, having received two text messages and a phone call saying that's when my appointment was. The lady nastily told me that my appointment was at 12:30 then wouldn't give me the time of day to allow me to show her the texts I received saying my appointment was at 12 which the front desk is responsible for sending out!!!!!! Although I love my dentist, I will not be returning after today because of how rude and unpleasant the front desk has made my experience once again read more

This review is for Sachem Dental group in general, not specifically the Nesconset office. They say they take CapDent insurance, then charge you more than double what they are supposed to. Root canal for Anterior tooth is listed as 225.00. Then proceeded to try an charge 600.00. When asked why, the reason given is because they need a specialist. What kind of "Regular Dentist" can't perform a root canal? If they can't do a root canal obviously they are incompetent, or they use "The Specialist" excuse to charge more out of pocket. This place is a racket. DO NOT TRUST THEM. Why be a member of CapDent if your not going to practice, using their pricing structure? This is old plain bait and switch if you choose a dentist by seeing who takes CapDent. read more
