Ordering was cumbersome. Was asked to check my order on the screen. I did. It still came out wrong. I ordered an everything bagel with sun-dried tomato cream cheese, bacon, and egg. The egg round was pre-made (instant?) and had chopped ham in it. The bagel was sesame and not everything. It had sour cream and fresh tomato on it. The location is great - that's about it. It's a coffee shop eatery, but the food looked mediocre at best. This is the kind of place which has Saran wrapped pastries - so nothing is super fresh. I ordered a cappuccino to go- it was poorly made. I find it really off putting that when I go to pay - the barista emphasized there was an option to tip- then stared at me while I fumbled. I wouldn't say I'm terribly picky about my chais- I will really drink whatever- with the exception of steamed milk that I don't believe has any chai in it. Let me start there. * The ambience is very cool-hipster/vintage vibe * At the checkout, you don't give your name, they have a name generator and you listen for your "name" to be called (I was Frank Sinatra) * The location is terrific-right on the main street near everything * They are open early-perfect for the first cup of coffee However, I can't rave about this place because of the bad. The food was terrible. Not just "blah" but truly inedible. My wife ordered biscuits and gravy with a side of potatoes. One bite of each and they went right into the trash. We don't waste food and we don't condone such behavior, but this was awful. They tasted very vinegar-y, like maybe something had gone bad. The coffee, however, was great. We enjoyed this place for breakfast a couple of days ago while visiting Glenwood Springs. A big plus is it's open a little earlier than some of the other cafes in town. We were done with our coffee and breakfast before some of the others even opened at 8am. If you are an early bird like we are with kids, this is helpful. Everyone was nice who took our order. They do a funny thing here I have never experienced before where they assign you a celebrity name for your order. So when it is ready, the kitchen will call out "Ben Afleck" - my husband in this instance. Then later someone else was called "Julia Robert's". We had cinnamon rolls, coffee and breakfast burritos. Everything was tasty and seemed fresh. The green chile in the burrito was good and not too much. My husband is a native Coloradan so green chile is his thing and he liked it. Coffee was good but took a little while to come out to our table. No big deal, it was in to go cups so we finished it walking back to our hotel. The cafe is casual and is kind of a quick casual environment. Order up front, get called up to collect and someone will clean your table when it's done kind of scenario. Very rude staff, horrible communication skills. We ordered 2 bagel sandwiches, one bacon, one sausage. They made them both sausage and when I informed the older lady behind the counter, she rudely mumbled something under her breath and ignored or didn't understand what I had said. She snatched the wrong sandwich from me and set it aside and acted like I was touching someone else's order. She just stood there, didn't try to fix their mistake. My husband has MS and is in a wheelchair. They discriminated against him because he had his companion teacup chihuahua in his lap. His dog was not barking, not running around, just quietly sitting on his lap. A younger girl came out and said we had to leave because our dog. They were smirking, laughing and talking over us and never tried to correct the sandwich mistake. We also had ordered 2 lattes. They were pricey for lukewarm dull flavor water. We ended up throwing away everything because it looked and tasted inedible. I had tears in my eyes for my husband. They humiliated him! Beware of this place! read more

The serving of potatoes could have been a table spoon worth. At $13 per plate definitely the most expensive breakfast we've had in a long while based on cost/food. The flavor was good. Don't be fooled by the other reviews... There is nothing sacred about this place. This is BY FAR the worst breakfast my 3 friends and I have ever had. The portion sizes are small and the quality is insanely bad. It's actually a joke. I don't understand how this place is open. We literally watched them microwave sausage that looked like cat food, slop it onto a plate, then shove it into my friend's hands and walk away without saying anything. They actually forgot to give him his side of sausage in the first place so they should be apologizing instead of being rude. The service is absolutely awful. The employees are so mean -- that should've been the first warning that made us turn around instead of giving them our business. There's just too much to say. read more

Bad vibes. This is my first time reviewing a place 1 star. I asked if they could do a vegan breakfast burrito (they have a vegetarian one on the menu) and the cashier said yes. The woman in the back gave me a huge meat burrito covered in cheese and sour cream. It was also supposed to be to-go, but Ok. No problem. Asked for a vegan one, please. Ended up with a laughably tiny burrito (soggy) with slimy veggies and NO love. I completely get that a lot of places can't accommodate vegan, but it felt a bit like an insult. $20 for the burrito and a tea. They weren't very nice about the mistake, which was clearly there's. We didn't come here for food - just for coffee so this review only applies to drinks. Prior to this destination, we traveled to three different coffee shops. Two of them were closed and one was a drive through only with one person working. Sacred Grounds is located in "downtown Glenwood" so it is guaranteed they will be open but it's also in a nice location so you could hop to other coffee shops if it happens to be closed. This is a safe location to go where you know it won't randomly close before noon. Parking was easy. We parked in the back for free. The drinks were okay. They have seasonal drinks and I did like the pumpkin spice. They also offer alternative dairy but I believe oat milk was the only one available while we were here. It's a cute little spot. read more

Nice shop right off the main drag, got a mocha which was pretty good. They keep the thermostat on the warmer side which is nice. No longer giving out the WiFi password though, said "their system uses a lot of data so it slows it down" which is a bummer because that's half of what I needed. RIP OFF, DO NOT EAT HERE. We ordered a Cobb salad with ranch and the black bear roast beef sandwich. We drove out 30 mins to our picnic area. When we got there we opened our food and the sandwich had two slices of thinly cut roast beef for $13!! When we opened the Cobb salad the lettuce was sour and there was about less than half a cup of chicken and it was covered in vinaigrette... when it was supposed to be ranch. that was $11. They practically sold us sour lettuce with vinaigrette for that price.. When we called back they said they could only refund us if we drove all the way back. The food and the service was terrible. After a few days of vapor caves, hot springs, adventure park we were wiped out, tired, grumpy and in desperate need of caffeine. I had my typical dirty chai and ordered a bagel sandwich. It did it's job. I like the vibe of this shop. Everyone else enjoyed their caffeine and food and we got our much needed energy. We didn't experience anything negative like other reviews had. Ordered at 12:08. 30 minutes later, no food lol. My partner and I thought, "little quaint cafe, let's get coffee and something to eat!" Ordered huevos rancheros and a panini. We were the only people here when we ordered, which lasted for a solid 15 minutes. A Saturday at noon, you'd think a place would have more urgency on a Saturday afternoon haha. Good luck to the people working and the owners! We wanted food still, they insisted on refunding us and gave us a cookie. "A printer problem" we were the only people here...really embarrassing.
