My family and I have used Williams Funeral Directors twice before, but after this most recent…read moreexperience, we will not be returning. The level of communication, professionalism, and care we received during one of the most difficult times of our lives was deeply disappointing. My loved one passed away on October 2nd, and his cremation did not take place until November 6th with little to no communication from the funeral home in between. It started the night he passed. Their partners took hours to arrive at the house, even though law enforcement had already informed them of his condition and approximate weight. They arrived completely unprepared, and a family member had to help them place his body onto the gurney. It was traumatic and unacceptable. The next day, October 3rd, we arrived on time for our scheduled appointment but were placed in Raul's office while he took a lengthy phone call. He later explained that he had been "looking for a casket large enough," despite not yet knowing our wishes and we did not need a casket at all. Throughout our meeting, he repeatedly joked and attempted to be overly friendly, which felt inappropriate given the situation. One of our requests was to view our loved one one last time, and Raul assured us it could be arranged for the following day. Instead, I received a call the next morning stating that viewing would not be possible "because of his size" and the need to involve a third party, which would result in additional fees. Only after several hours and my firm insistence were they suddenly able to make it happen the same day. Before the services (held eight days after his passing), I confirmed with Raul that a priest and someone to lead the rosary had been arranged. He later informed me that "Maria" from the church could lead the rosary and that I would need to pay her $100 because it "wasn't in the agreement." I reluctantly agreed. It was only afterward that I learned Maria is actually a salesperson for the funeral home. After the services, I asked Raul whether everything had been received from the doctor for the cremation. He said yes and that they were only waiting for the state's approval. Weeks passed with no updates. When I reached out on October 28th, he hurriedly told me they were still waiting on the county medical examiner and claimed he couldn't email me details because he was "out of town." Once again, only after repeated insistence on my part did things suddenly move, and we received the cremation certificate on October 30th. This entire process was far more stressful, confusing, and prolonged than it ever should have been. Losing a loved one is already devastating; families should not have to chase down information, argue for basic services, or experience avoidable delays and miscommunications. We are extremely disappointed in how this was handled and can no longer recommend Williams Funeral Directors based on this experience.

I know that death is a bad experience for everyone involved and I would think people's emotions and…read moresensitivity would run high when trying to plan funeral services, but I am surprised at some of the other reviews. These people nothing but polite, as well as empathetic. Everyone I spoke to at Williams displayed the perfect amount of compassion, while maintaining professionalism. Given the situation, I wouldn't say it was a pleasurable experience, but all of the staff went out of their way to make the experience as painless and seamless as could be.
