Sacred Storm Buffalo Butcher Shop & Market is a fully Indigenous-owned and operated nonprofit buffalo/bison meat retail shop and workforce development social enterprise. Located at 1601 Haines Ave in Rapid City, we specialize in ethically field-harvested bison cuts, snack sticks, buffalo jerky, salami, bratwurst, sausage, hot dogs and Indigenous-made goods—including our Pretty Pink Buffalo tallow body products, hand-made buffalo hide drums of all sizes, painted skulls and hand tanned buffalo hides. What makes us different? Every purchase supports sustained non-profit Indigenous food sovereignty. Our products are rooted in cultural respect and sustainability—we use every part of the buffalo, honoring Lakota values and land-based healing. From marrow bones and heart to tenderloin and dry meat, everything we offer is processed with prayer, purpose, and precision. We’re more than a store—we’re a movement for food sovereignty and Indigenous self-determination. History

Established in 2011.

Wambli Ska Okolakiciye (White Eagle Society) is a Lakota-led nonprofit in Rapid City, SD, founded to introduce Native youth to self-determination through cultural education, workforce development, and land stewardship. Led by Chris White Eagle, Sacred Storm Buffalo, launched in 2024, expands this vision with apprenticeship programs in buffalo butchery and traditional harvesting. Next to the plant is the Warrior’s Lodge, offering housing for apprentices. Together with the Oglala Sioux Tribe, Sacred Storm has distributed thousands of pounds of buffalo meat to Native families, addressing food insecurity while honoring cultural traditions. Sacred Storm Meats & Treats Food Hub and the Iron Hoof Grill extend this mission by offering culturally grounded buffalo-based foods and traditional meals, serving as community-driven outlets for food sovereignty, economic development, and Indigenous culinary revitalization.

Hello and welcome! At Sacred Storm Buffalo and Wambli Ska, we’re more than a business—we’re a Native-led movement grounded in culture, healing, and purpose. Every cut of meat, every meal, and every youth we mentor is part of restoring what was nearly lost: our traditions, our food systems, and our future. We do this work because it’s personal. The buffalo is sacred to our people—it fed, clothed, and sustained us. Today, we carry that relationship forward by teaching youth, feeding families, and creating opportunities rooted in sovereignty and self-determination. Thank you for supporting this journey.
