This is the yoga I have been seeking! Very laid back peaceful nonjudgmental environment that offers classes taught by certified yoga instructors in tolerably heated (85-95) & non-heated classes. The classes range from stretching meditative to challenging workout. I have tried the big chain type (which has many good features) to small, personal friendly studios to super strict and yoga-judgmental places (how can yoga be judgmental?) Anelise is wonderful, but truly, I have gotten a lot out of every class with different instructors. Summaya is also great; she is like my yoga touchpoint. It isn't conveniently located for me (live near Decatur and Work in Midtown), but worth the extra effort to get there (on weekends). They have classes early, noon and after work. You will enter Sacred Thread from the back parking lot, which has plenty of spaces weekend mornings and weekdays, but it is more challenging to park weekend afternoons and after work. read more

I'd taken yoga classes in the past and appreciated what yoga did for my body but never became a devotee. But after beginning regular exercise again and experiencing muscle tension and/or pain all over my body, I decided to give yoga another try. I'd taken a Yin class before and knew that it focused on the connective tissues of muscles, and I'd guessed that was more of what I needed since I stretch regularly after working out and get semi-regular massages. I chose Sacred because it's less than a 10 minute drive from my house AND they have a Yin class on Sunday afternoons. I've been attending the Yin + Restorative yoga class for about 4 weeks, and I'm really enjoying it. My body has already shown improvement with less stiffness in my movements and less muscle tension and/or pain. The instructor for the Sunday class is Mary, and she's really great - very helpful to everyone and will answer a question or help you find the right form. And while we may duplicate a move from class to class, every class feels different. You can tell that Mary thinks about the class and the different ways we can work our bodies. Because this location primarily focuses on hot yoga classes, I want to point out that this class is NOT hot yoga. It does happen after a hot yoga class so initially it can be warm and a little funky in the room, but it cools down and airs out pretty quickly. And although you can "drop in" for this class, I like to register. If you're new to Sacred, there is a Groupon for a discount on classes. I'd always been curious about this space as I'd jog past it on the Belt Line. Imagine my excitement when boyfriend told me we were going to yoga and we pulled up here. Joy! I informed the instructor, Jocelyn, that I have a herniated disc. She was very informative and careful about how I should proceed through class. Her instruction was noncompetitive and calming. She made sure to give alternative moves for the injured and less flexible, alike. I left her class as if on a cloud. No pain, much gain. I can't wait to return! read more

Nice yoga place in EAV to hit up for yoga. The free parking is a nice feature, but that's if you can get it. Busy times can make it hard to get a spot. I would say you get a parking spot 60% of the time. Anyway, lovely little studio that's not too crowded. There is only one bathroom so be aware. The yoga room can get packed but I always felt like I had my space. Nice teachers, but nothing that really stood out. The classes were not so much challenging but were more on the restorative side. I enjoyed it but was looking for something unique and more of a connection to the environment/space. Hours are also a bit limited- nothing very early and not that many classes in evenings. I happened upon Sacred Thread during one of my morning jogs. I like the convenience of this place, and it has a rare gem for Atlanta now - free parking! You can park in the back parking lot, and walk right up to the back so you're safe even if visiting late. I've now practiced at Sacred Thread twice now, and I can see this becoming my new yoga studio. So far I've only done the Hot One, but I have a feeling the others carry the same vibe. Not only are the staff friendly and helpful, but they do go above and beyond to ensure your comfort and ease. The yoga instructors I've had have an amazing energy. The energy in the studio is good vibes. Even though I'm not a yogi myself, this place has a welcoming vibe that will melt away whatever is going on outside. I did find them on Groupon to try them out; they were very helpful with getting me set up in the system. 5 stars!!! read more

I bought a month membership for a location that it turned out was a shutting down in a week. At that studio the instructor said it could be refunded. I went twice, one time when I was downtown on errands. Neither classes were impressive. But anyhow, they said that I owed the two drop in class rates of $20 a piece. . . . I didn't and would never go to yoga at $20 a class. I said the month membership is worth at least 5 classes. Even then it's unfair to me when you don't advertise the studio closing and let me buy membership. The way they argued and wouldn't ever offer half back was very unethical. read more

I really like Sacred Thread. They don't overpack their classes with students, and they offer a variety of gentle yoga options - beginners, yin, and restorative classes are all regularly on the schedule. The students and instructors alike are laidback and welcoming, and they match the mellow vibe of the studio itself. They have tons of free parking, but make sure you give yourself a few extra minutes to buzz in at the call box (002 is the code). What I don't love about Sacred Thread is that Ralph Ellis is increasingly busy with traffic, meaning that your yoga class will be regularly punctuated with screeching brakes, honking horns, and sirens of all kinds. Sacred Thread can't really control that, but it is the main thing holding this back from a perfect five star. read more

Bottom line: Sacred Thread was absolutely wonderful. If I could give 10 stars I would. I attended Friday Sunrise Flow (6:30a) with Lizzie. Lizzie is an amazing human, and EXACTLY the kind of person you want to be guiding through the deep stretches, flows, and meditative and grounding aspects of yoga. She was so kind and helpful to the ranging skill levels of this small and intimate class. Not only was she helpful on a technical level, but on a spiritual level as well. One of my favorite aspects of yoga is the internal grounding and appreciation. Throughout the class, along with her technical help, she reminded us of the true reason why we were there. Enjoying and appreciating our bodies and selves. Rooting to the Earth and to each other in the class. During the last stage of the class in the Shavasana, I started (happily) tearing up of how appreciative I was of the experience. It was truly the yoga class I've been searching for. Aside from Lizzie, the studio is beautiful, quiet, and calming. Lofted ceilings and nice wood floors allowed me to open up and concentrate on my inner light rather than outside distraction. Parking is easy too. Then again, this might be because we arrived before the sun came up. But for the early classes, it was a breeze. If you're looking to experience a reflective, deep stretch-y, and somewhat challenging (there were options for inversions!), this is absolutely the class you need. Namaste. read more

Got the month unlimited Scoutmob to check this place out. Their classes are *seriously* hot yoga. I think that's good. You will sweat and you will walk out blissed out. Isn't that why hot yoga is so addictive anyway? Anyway, the studio is lovely. People who go here seem really friendly and I can see that this could really start to feel like home. They have a great selection and increasing class offerings as I've been attending. Nice. I'll say it's not the best place for a beginner. I'm a yoga teacher and I teach beginners. Their beginner class, Mindful Hot, would be tough for a real beginner to follow, and without enough reminders that going at your own pace is ok, the class could easily push a newbie into muscle strain and poor alignment, not to mention some feelings of failure. Go to Mystic Lotus or Decatur Yoga and Pilates for real beginner offerings. Come to Sacred Sweat when you're more familiar with yoga. It's a great place to find a yoga community and get your hot yoga fix. read more

I've been to 4 or 5 classes in the studio so far, and one Wrecking Bar event, and I feel like I can safely say that Sacred Thread is No Joke. I've practiced yoga on and off for a few years, but I'm rusty, so I've attended at least 2 beginners classes. Annaliese is fantastic at walking the class through each movement. I've had beginners classes before where the instructor just goes through the motions - down dog, warrior 2, triangle - and the class just sort of mimics each pose. Annaliese isn't afraid to mix it up while also spending time really explaining where each muscle in the posture should be. Very helpful. I've also been to an all levels class or two. So hard! But in a great way. And again, the instructors will take the time to guide the class gently through a complicated posture, like a headstand or crow. I'm excited to keep going - even considering taking the 21 day challenge this month! read more

This is the FIRST place that has motivated me to attend yoga class regularly. I love yoga, but frequently, finding the motivation to get my butt in gear is the hard part. The mindful hot yoga class is my class of choice. It's unlike anything I've done before. It has a nice flow like your standard vinyasa class, with the heat of a bikram class. I feel like I'm going to pass out when I'm in the class, but I never do and always push through. When I leave, I feel sweaty, but clean with too much energy. The endorphin rush lasts for a solid two hours before I have the best sleep possible. As far as the teachers, I've had great and I've had okay. Annalise is hands down, the best yoga teacher I've had. She clearly puts a lot of thought into her routine, which I appreciate. You can feel it flow better than other classes that may be disjointed. I'm a former dancer, so this "lack of choppiness" is welcomed greatly! It helps you anticipate the moves better and keeps you from getting frustrated. I wont go into the teachers I didn't particularly care for because it's a preference thing in my opinion. The only issue with one other teacher is they seem distracted when speaking, whether they forget music, jumble their words, or have their phone out - this certainly doesn't ruin the studio for me and I will continue to come back. I just choose a different session. :) I wish 2 star review would be removed so this place could have an unblemished record! They clearly enjoy the studio enough to bring friends. Sacred Thread is within walking distance from my house, so I was thrilled to find that they had an offer on Scoutmob. I purchased three classes for $13, which was a great deal as Yoga classes are usually more than $13 for just one class. So far, I have been to the studio twice as well as participated in a cool event that they offer monthly at Wrecking Bar Brewpub- Yoga on Tap. I have had a different instructor for each class and they have all been stellar. The studio is smaller than some places I have been, but so far I have always been able to get into my classes. I believe you can also pre-register for classes online to ensure you get a spot. I have one more class left in my "3 pack" but I will definitely be returning to this studio in the future. I just moved to Atlanta and moved down the street from this studio so I decided to check it out. Everyone at the studio is very friendly! I've taken the Vinyasa class several times with 2 different instructors and they were both wonderful. They're very helpful and the atmosphere is soothing. I left behind my prior yoga studio, which was a bit closer to my house, for Sacred Thread, and I couldn't be happier with my decision! I bought a 3-class pass on ScoutMob after hearing good things from my friends. I knocked out all three of those classes and plan to buy more. Each of those classes was fantastic. The instructors were great (I tried three different ones). I loved the unusual flows, the gentle guidance, and the sweet tunes. I left the studio feeling super refreshed and ready to take on the rest of my day. All in all, it's been great. I love the feeling of this studio. It has large open windows, and a clean feel. It's just so wonderful. A very peaceful place to enter after a long day at work. The check-in process is also very efficient. They keep tabs on you much better than my priorr studio and tell you how many classes you have left at the end of each class. Plus, only Sundays, they run some special deals, including a $5 class. I finally found my yoga studio home in ATL. And it feels g-r-e-a-t. Also, there's sometimes fruit after class. That helps to build a cool sense of community I really haven't had in any other studio. Also also, they have bike parking right by the door, and it's super Beltline accessible. Yay! read more

There is something truly magical about this space & its classes. Hot yoga can be intense for the first time attendee but once you allow your body to acclimate healthily these classes will sing to your soul. Each teacher is different yet the studio offers consistency in the quality of the classes available & I have always left feeling centered, grounded, & grateful. The heat & intimate atmosphere literally melts the stress & tension away. If you've never tried it, definitely give this place a visit. read more

I like this place. I use to go to the o4w location but I think it's closed and now they seem to be having classes in various locations but I can't really find any bigger classes in the EAV studio. So I need to find a private instructor and find another studio close to me where I can practice. read more

Sacred Sweat Yoga is not accepting pre purchased, unexpired Groupon vouchers for their classes. Until today, I never had a problem with this studio. I was already in their system (due to some confusion regarding where I could redeem the voucher I purchased through Groupon). The first woman at the desk didn't know how to enter it into the system this morning at Sacred Sweat, so she called Annalise to ask for help. Annalise then (very impolitely) told me that they are no longer accepting Groupon vouchers because they have not been paid by Groupon in three months and they are currently pursuing legal action against them. That was the end of that. No apology for the inconvenience. No information about pricing so that I could already register for the class I was in for. I would've had no issue with them not taking the voucher if the information was conveyed in a more polite and helpful manner. Maybe a mention of this on their site somewhere would have been nice to help me avoid wasting my time and a rude encounter with Sacred Sweat staff. This location is walking distance from my house, but I'd rather go to out of my way to the Hapeville location where everyone is much nicer and the prices are lower. Doubt I'll be back at Sacred Sweat. read more

I can't say enough good things about this studio and about the owners and teachers. Sacred Sweat has been the best thing to happen to East Atlanta Village since PBR. The classes are challenging, the teachers teachers are lovely, supportive, and encouraging and the studio has such a sense of community and friendship among all the yogis. Whether you are a practiced and advanced yogi or someone who has always wanted to give yoga a try but have maybe been anxious or worried that you don't know what you are doing -- this is the studio for you. It is technically hot yoga, but not to the temperatures of Bikram, so don't let the heat intimidate you from showing up for your first practice. I have been a regular at this studio since they opened and I look forward to showing up on my mat 5-6 days a week. Mindful Hot is a great place to start and hone your postures and balance. The teachers do a great job of making the class incredibly challenging, while also making it accessible to people of all levels. Once you start to get a better idea of the names and postures of the poses, then give their Sacred Sweat class a try. You will work hard and the class lives up to its sweaty name, but you will walk out feeling strong and ready to take on the world. Come support what is, in my opinion, the best yoga studio in Atlanta! Helpful tip -- make sure to sign up for classes online ahead of time because due to the increasing popularity of Sacred Sweat -- classes fill up to capacity quite often so it is best to reserve your spot beforehand to make sure there is room for you and your mat. read more

If you suffer from anxiety, take Matt Donati's class. He knows all the right things to say to a brain on overdrive and it actually translates to me being able to do poses I can't do in other classes. Five stars for Matt, four stars for the studio overall when I compare it to Tough Love. Tough Love wins because of their charity work, pricing, and variety in the class types but I love going to both. read more

The practice room at Sacred Thread is really beautiful. The arrival and check-in process is easy and there are cubbies for your shoes. The group instruction is actually personal and the teach moves around the room during class. The props are clean. They do rent mats but it is recommended to bring your own mat. read more

I've been a "new" client at a lot of fitness studios around Atlanta thanks to Classpass, and this was probably the least welcoming experience I've had. I found my way to the studio for my first class (Beginner Flow) with relative ease thanks to some people leaving the class before me (they don't provide you any instructions on how to get in through the Classpass app). I walked in to the studio and started to make my way to the front desk to check in, as most newcomers would do, but instead of a nice greeting I was immediately barked at by the woman sitting there to remove my shoes. Embarrassed, I removed my perfectly clean shoes and then afterwards noticed a "No Shoes Zone" marked on the floor...I totally understand this for the actual studio itself, but seems incredibly silly to have a "No Shoes" zone in front of the check-in desk. Plus it seemed strange to me they would be so strict about the shoes but then be OK with having a dog sitting on the front desk. Once I make my way to the front desk, now shoeless, the woman asks me my name and hands me a waiver to fill out since I am a new client. After I finish and hand her back the form, she just looked back at her computer and went about her business. This is the first time I think I've been to a studio where they don't immediately show you where the bathroom is, where the water is, make sure you don't have any questions etc. So I had to ask her all these questions myself. Thank goodness I have taken yoga before because I would have been really clueless since she did not even bother to tell the instructor, who was standing nearby, that I was new. Also, I happened to walk past the front desk again twice between my trips to get water and go to the restroom, and BOTH times I walked by the woman looked at me and asked if I had checked in yet like she had never seen me before in her life. The class itself was perfectly fine and the instructor, Malerie, was nice and seemed passionate about her practice, but the weird and uncomfortable experience checking in really put me off, which is a shame because I only live a mile away and really wanted to like it. read more

I have purchased a couple Scoutmob deals to Sacred Thread and have probably attended ~5 classes there. I will preface the following review with the fact that I have been to a lot of yoga studios, not only in Metro Atlanta but other studios as well. I have a regular practice and just visit Sacred Thread for a change of scenery and hopefully to learn something new. The classes I have attended there were good for refocusing towards correct alignment during the poses. I personally prefer faster paced vinyasa flow classes but have been informed that they do offer some vinyasa classes and perhaps I just haven't been selecting the right class for that. Either way, this is a solid option for practicing yoga in town. read more

Sacred Thread has hired terrific teachers who are committed to creating a consistent yoga experience with compassion and care. It is worth the drive to attend one of the wonderful weekend workshops or classes. Getting there at rush hour can be difficult at times, but worth it! I went to Annalise's behinner's class, because I really am a beginner -- I've attended a handful of classes elsewhere, never with any frequency, and I've done a handful of videos at home. She was wonderful. Great verbal instructions so I rarely had to look up to see what I should be doing, and she alternated between demonstrating the poses and walking around the room helping the students correct their posture and breathing. The studio is clean, simple, and beautiful; the staff was welcoming and friendly; and it was a great mix of students in the class, so I didn't feel like the only beginner in a class full of experts. I attended through Classpass but will definitely be back and highly recommend it. read more

I've recently started going to Sacred Thread Yoga in Hapeville. As a novice, I have to say it's been really great.

So, I've only taken a few yoga classes in my life. Mostly at the gym, one or two at a studio. So I have no idea what I'm doing. I found this place on scoutmob and decided to try it out. Im so glad I did. I'm a hairdresser and stand on my feet all day. Also I have a 60+lb puppy at home. So life is hectic and my body was like "hey!! I need some attention!!" So I finally listened!! Best decision!! My first class was the sweat class and it was awesome. Sure there were things I couldn't do, but the teacher was fantastic and helped me modify a few things and I never felt bad or inexperienced, and to top it off, I even surprised myself with some things!! I'm going back friday and I'm hooked. Got up this morning on my own and looked up some simple morning moves to keep this going until my next class!!! I have visited so many studios through the years in different states. This is one of best. Great and kind instructors. The studio is clean, organized, and motivational. Music is soothing. Class options are offered for all people. I love the mindful hot class. This is great for a beginner to moderate yogi. I have been practicing for years with short breaks. However, I return refreshed and feeling great. Sacred is a sacred place. The classes are packed in the evenings but there is always room. The day classes are small. Lavender, cold wash cloths are given at the end of class. Parking is good. Free parking is behind the studio or there is a parking lot across the street. Mindful hot is a hour class. I enjoy it every time. Each instructor has there own unique class so you are never bored. I am near. I support local businesses. Great studio! read more

I started attending classes at the EAV studio about two months ago and, needless to say, I am hooked! I go for the Mindful Hot classes with Annelise and Andrea at least twice a week. I've never sweat more in my life and I say that with a smile. The studio is wonderful, not too crowded, and instructors are fantastic. Yoga has really helped me find myself more and remove stress from my life and I have these ladies to thank. I have seen a ton of progress in my practice in a short amount of time.
