What a wonderful experience! We were greeted right away when we walked in & were sat right away. They had high chairs for kiddos & so my son was able to join us at the table in his own chair. I ordered their mule which was not only delicious but a great price too at $10.00! For my main I ordered the Taste of Maydoon which included a taste of everything! There was not a single thing on the entire plate that was not delicious. The meat was perfectly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The salad dressing was vinegary and refreshing! This plate is a little on the higher side at $28.00 but for the portion I think it's well worth it! A suggestion to the restaurant would be to add a changing table in the bathroom. I had to change my son on the sink countertop which was less than ideal but we got it done. Would be a nice addition to the restaurant. Will definitely be coming back in!

Try the whole menu! You'll not regret it.
Ordered the Taste of Maydoon with Chicken. Our order was packed up nicely and the portion was perfect! The chicken was soft, I loved the fire grilled veggies (tomato and bell peppers) and the rice was fluffy. The sauces that came with it were all amazing! The hummus was delicious to eat with the pita bread! This is one I'll be craving to go back to!
I walked past here this week, and then last night was over this way for spin and decided to give it a try. I was thoroughly impressed. The inside is cute, but we were sweaty post spin class, so we decided to eat outside. It was perfect weather. Our server was attentive and offered great recommendations. I started with the tehran nights cocktail. It was their take on a spicy marg, and i enjoyed it. I wish it was a little sweeter or had more citrus, but overall and good drink and lovely presentation. As a starter, I had the Kashk E Bademjan which was grilled eggplant mashed into a spread, topped with yogurt and mint oil, served with pita. It was flavorful for a dip/ spread. There was a perfect ratio of pita to spread. The pita was warm and a perfect vessel for the spread. For dinner, Melissa and I both had the same thing: The Maydoon Bowl. This came with the choice of either shredded lamb, ground beef kebab, chicken kebab, or Falafel. Served with rice, cucumber, tomato, and onions, topped with pickled onions and our signature dressing. I went with the ground beef kebab, per our server's recommendation, and she did not steer us wrong. The meat was tender and flavorful. It was beautiful presentation, even just for a bowl. I enjoyed their signature dressing as well. Additionally, I loved how many pickled red onions they put on this dish. We closed the meal with persian ice cream which was flavored with saffron, rosewater & pistachio. This was such a refreshing ice cream. Creamy consistency, and I loved the rose flavoring.
One of my favorite restaurants and it is a fan favorite with friends and family! The restaurant is spacious and beautiful, has lots of seating both inside and outside, friendly staff, and a bar. The food is absolutely delicious, so many vegetarian friendly options, the cocktails are refreshing, and you will definitely be satisfied with anything you order! I love getting their dip trio or maydoon bowl. They also have an amazing Persian ice cream for dessert and you have to try it at least once! I would recommend getting a reservation because they get very busy!

We also tried the tahdig and dips, which were incredible and tasted authentic.The atmosphere is modern, warm, and perfect for a date night or dinner with friends. Service was friendly and attentive even during a busy evening. Portions were generous, and every dish felt thoughtfully prepared.
Work day + can't leave the office = takeout. This is my third time eating Maydoons and it is a solid option for Mediterranean in Sacramento. I had the koobideh taste of maydoon 9/10. The meat was not dry and it included two different sauces to mix with my meal. I had a yogurt sauce and hummus! I'm a fan of dipping so it was perfect. Highly recommend for a good lunch.
My friend group and I enjoyed our monthly get together by dining at the lovely Maydoon. Situated in midtown, Maydoon open floor space with a bar; the ambiance reminds me of a chill vibe in SF or NY. For apps we ordered dolmeh, falafel bites and the dip trio. All were freshly prepared and delicious. I finally tried dolmeh and I am in love! As an entree I ordered the Maydoon Bowl with ground beef kabob. Alyssa, our amazing server, helped me with my dinner selection (great call, Alyssa!). I'm still salivating over the ground beef kabob...OMG so good! The rice was cooked to perfection and served with tomatoes, cucumbers, and the green sauce was amazinggggg. The Mast Have cocktail was a lovely complement to a wonderful dinner. Can't want to return with other friends as well as my family.

Clean, friendly, waiters are attentive and let's not forget the food is great. No complaints about this spot. It's always friendly and welcoming. Def recommend making reservations if you are trying out this place bc of seating.
I hadn't heard of Maydoon before seeing this restaurant on the Dine Downtown Sac 2026 list; I originally planned to eat off that menu. However, after looking at both menus, I decided to order off the normal menu. First, I need to mention the service, as the hostess was very off-putting. My husband had called for reservations at 6PM. Upon arrival, I let the hostess know we had reservations and she said, "Oh, you're early." She said it in such an unhappy tone, that I immediately checked the time...it was 5:56PM. After seeing we only arrived four minutes prior to our stated time, I was worried how the service would be here. Fortunately, our waitress was genuinely friendly. However, she did fail to check in on us, refill our waters, and brought the check out before asking if we wanted dessert (which I did). She was helpful when ordering though, so overall it was fine. I ordered the Maydoon Bowl with a side of Green Salad. (The waitress was kind enough to point out the bowl already came with Shirazi Salad so I added the Green Salad rather than the Shirazi.) My meal was delicious - very flavorful and filling! I had the Combo (a scoop of Persian ice cream and a baklava) for dessert. I personally didn't care much for the baklava, but enjoyed the ice cream. I'm glad I now know about Maydoon and would return in the future.

I got the beef bowl and let me tell you... it was so good! The bartender Kareem recommended it to me. I also got a margarita that was one of the best I've ever had! Inside is very clean and welcoming. Get over here now and try them! Don't forget to tip Kareem! read more
When the friends group wants to try Persian cuisine together, Maydoon is it. Apps and drinks were ordered and enjoyed. Falafel, pita/hummus,dolmeh, all tasty. As were the adult libations. Dinner was super delicious. The restaurant was super accommodating to us, and the simple changes we requested to our respective dishes. I ordered the Maydoon bowl, and substituted the rice for additional veggies/salad, and created my own salad bowl. My choice of protein was the chicken kebab, with added extra chicken. The chicken was tender and lightly seasoned. The combo of the layer of flavors in the salad, and a chicken made for very tasty bites! Service was spot on, and our glasses were kept filled. Fun little spot to meet friends, family, or even for an easy date night. read more

We enjoy Persian food. We recommend the bowl and the apps. Cocktails could be better. Service is excellent and the ambiance is nice for a quick bite and dine. We will def come back bc it's reasonable price. read more

We booked Maydoon for dinner on Thanksgiving Eve. We are new to the Sacramento dining scene and Persian Chicken Kabobs with Saffron Rice is a usual crowd pleaser in all the cities we visit. Maydoon is a modern, festive, and brightly-lit restaurant that has a bit of a sports-bar feel. The food and cleanliness, including bathrooms are superb. Very casual and great for sports fan, date night, family dinners, you name it. My only criticism is that paid street parking is super difficult to find even on a weeknight, so maybe plan on 1-2 blocks away. I started with the Mast Have cocktail - vanilla vodka with pomegranate and sour cherry was super refreshing and balanced sweet and tart. The yogurt gave it a nice smooth finish. The Stewed Eggplant appetizer was tomatoey and great with the soft, warm pita bread. Almost like having a miniature pizza bite. Beef Koobideh was decent though slightly on the saltier side. I liked the inclusion of blistered tomatoes and a large roasted green pepper. The star of the evening was the Persian Chicken Kabob - and definitely as for thigh meat. Perfectly seared and so soft and juicy inside. Top tier among all the Persian places we've had in Seattle and Bay Area. read more

Well I finally came back to Maydoon for their Taste of Maydoon platter. Taste of Maydoon allows you to taste everything. There's a yogurt sauce, hummus, pitas, rice, protein of your choice, salad, grilled tomato and grilled pepper. It is so filling that it is usually both my lunch and dinner. I was surprised to find out that the price has dropped from $26 to $21. This is almost free. It's a huge plate of food and very tasty. It's beautiful to look at. The Mediterranean food here is better than any I have tried in the Bay area. If I live closer, I'd come here every week. I love the grilled chicken thigh. It's juicy and has a great flavor because it's been marinated. It's slightly charred from the grill. It is both slightly crunchy from the grill and yet incredibly juicy inside. They always grill it fresh so it is the hottest thing on your plate My husband had a different protein, he had Koobideh ground beef. You get a choice of ground beef or ground chicken. It wasn't too salty like another person said it was. To me, it was a bit bland. It tasted like a very tender and bland meatloaf. It's very pretty and has a nice shape. My husband liked the ground beef Koobideh but I prefer the chicken thighs. This place gets incredibly loud during a weekday. I highly recommend you come right when it opens at 11:00 a.m. By noon, the entire restaurant was full and extremely loud. As an introvert, it was a bit overwhelming for me to sit in the loud restaurant but when the food came, I was able to distract myself with the tasty food. Highly recommend this restaurant during the off hours. read more

One of the only places in town you can get Ghormeh Sabzi! The staff are very professional and polite here. The decor is also very well curated and beautiful! Even the design of the plates and bowls show that someone really cares about the ambiance of the restaurant. My friend ordered a koobedeh kabob dish that looked amazing. I ordered the ghormeh sabzi and loved it. The complex flavors and strong preserved bitterness of the lime really makes this dish so unique. There was quite a bit of meat in the stew and each piece was tender and delicious! It was served with quite a bit of basmati rice and even a large crispy piece! The amount of food provided for each dish was substantial! My friend has shellfish and nut allergies and the restaurant serves no shellfish and only nuts in the desserts! The prices were quite reasonable for a dinner spot in Sacramento, $16-30 for an entree. read more

maydoon has a nice outdoor patio. i got the maydoon bowl and hummus appetizer, which came with plenty of hummus and tasty fresh pita bread. the bowl was well portioned (enough for leftovers!) and balanced overall. the pickled onion was a bit bitter for my tastes. the chicken breast meat was tender and flavorful, especially the pieces with more char. solid rice and veggies. a great meal overall and friendly, casual service. a great place to go out with friends or coworkers if you want something nice, reliable, and won't break the bank! read more
Yum!!! Currently salivating writing this review... Our lunch at Maydoon was fresh and fulfilling. I ordered the Maydoon bowl with chicken. The cucumber, tomato, and onion provided a salty, tangy flavor and the chicken was perfectly grilled for some added smokiness. The rice soaked up some of the juices from the vegetable and was very flavorful. The ice cream was great! I was surprised at the flavor profile - saffron, rose water, and pistachio - coming through fully. You can really taste the different flavors. It was nice and creamy, and a refreshing end to the meal. The baklava was fine but didn't stand out to me. Would definitely come back again. read more

The girls and I walked over to have lunch while at work. I had the Maydoon Bowl which came chicken kabob served with rice, cucumber, tomato and onions, topped with pickled onions and signature dressing.i added extra dressing and the spicy jalapeño sauce and it was to die for. The service was amazing and the food was so flavorful. The restaurant can be busy during lunch time and dinner. Ambiance can be good for lunch/dinner with the girls or a night out with your partner. Spectacular food! Came on a Friday however I didn't have a reservation, arrived around 6 but to get a table, I was quoted for a reservation at 8:30! My goodness was it busy. My group of 3 ended up sitting up at the bar to eat since it was the only area available at that time. I ordered the chicken bowl and the chicken skewers, and the taste was amazing! My bowl was fresh, fragrant, and aromatic, ton of spices and texture. Chicken skewers were flavored but the plain rice was a very basic meal. Overall I would definitely recommend coming here but also making a reservation ahead of time. read more
The food was outstanding and the interior is cute. I enjoyed the mural painting on the wall. The falafel and chicken were both a great texture not dried out like some places can be. I finally had a chance to try this Persian restaurant in downtown Sacramento on February 21st. Restaurant is very welcoming, We were warmly greeted upon entering and seated at a half booth and half chairs table against one of their walls near the windows. Our server was Santiago, he was great, very warm and welcoming, field it all of our questions about the menu very attentive to dietary restrictions. I had brought her a very nice bottle of champagne with me so they set us up with an ice bucket. We started with an order of Dolmeh and Tadigh. Both appetizers were excellent especially that Tadigh. I had the Soltani for my main and my companion head Lamb Shank. The Soltani was excellent or my companions lamb shank disappeared quickly. If you're in or around downtown Sacramento definitely take the time to visit this great restaurant. read more

We had reservations on Saturday night. We got seated immediately but it took about 15 minutes until our waitress attended to us. After that she was very attentive and the service was as good. We started off with the salad shirazi, mast e khiar, and khash bademjoon which were all delicious. They also brought out bread with the appetizers. Our dinner was good too but I feel like the Koobideh could have been better. We will definitely be back and overall recommend Maydoon to satisfy your Persian food craving! read more
I've come to Maydoon multiple times and have always left happy and satisfied! The staff is always friendly. Almost every dish I have tried has been delicious! You cannot go wrong with anything from their menu. The maydoon bowls are usually my go to but recently I have tried their tadigh as I had a small cold I was recovering from and it was warm and delicious. They also have good vegetarian options for those that do not eat meat. I also have had their rose saffron ice cream which is quite refreshing after a meal. The ambiance is also lovely and good for work dinners and fancy night out. This is the place I recommend when I have people coming to visit me in Sacramento. read more
This was my first time here and I was surprised how busy it was for dinner. I ordered the Gheymeh which was yummy and perfect to eat on a cold night. The dish consisted of diced beef with onions and spit peas in a saffron tomato sauce with thin shoestring sized fries on top. There wasn't a lot of meat, but the portions were adequate. The dish also came with a large portion of rice. I ordered the shrazi salad for an extra $3 which was a great deal. The salad consisted of cucumbers, tomatoes and onions with an olive oil vinaigrette and was a sizeable portion. Service was average as the waitress may have been aloof as she never came to check on the table to see if we needed anything, never came to refill water, and provided us the bill without asking if we wanted dessert; she was too busy chatting with the other workers while failing to ensure customer needs were met. read more

Classic, generous portions of my Persian favorites, Maydoon NEVER disappoints. I travel to Sacramento often for business, and Maydoon has become my go-to for straightforward, classic Persian food that's full of flavor, aesthetically presented, straightforward comfort good. Friendly, attentive service every single time. The signature cocktails are interesting, but I'm a wine kinda gal, so the only thing I would change is the wine selection. It just isn't worthy of the amazing food. read more
Good spot for Persian food in Midtown! My boyfriend and I stopped by for lunch and were seated by the windows; great ambience inside. Service was prompt and accommodating. We ordered the drip trio for our appetizer, which came with plenty of pita bread. For our mains, we had the Maydoon bowl (tasty falafel on a bed of the fluffiest rice ever!) & the Maydoon salad, which has a delicious tangy dressing and fresh vegetables. Only downside of this spot is that there are very limited vegetarian options, but otherwise great. read more
Delicious Persian food in a fairly casual atmosphere. Although they have outdoor seating, it was too hot to sit outside the day we came. We ordered the dip trio, tadigh with gormeh sabzi, beef koobedeh, and Maydoon bowl with beef. Everything was so tasty. Child insisted on ordering more hummus after we finished the dip trio because it was so good. It had a more complex spice flavoring than I'm used to in my hummus and made me want to eat more. The tadigh with gormeh sabzi was also excellent. Husband ordered the doogh. He liked it. Personally, I detested it - it was like a thick salty yogurt drink with mint. I like yogurt and I like mint, but I do not like anything that salty. It was worse than the worst electrolyte replacement drink I've ever had. The Maydoon bowl was so good, and the portions were very generous. The beef was tender and juicy and easy to cut with a fork. Loved the contrast with the vinegary crunch of the cucumbers and tomatoes and the sauces that accompanied it. Child insisted on ordering the dessert combo, which turned out to be delicious. The ice cream was a saffron, rosewater, pistachio mix - a very interesting flavor. Baklava was good quality too. read more

Restaurant is clean with a cool vibe. People seemed to be enjoying. The hostess said we are full and it might take 45 minutes. We gave our number and the table was ready in five. When we walked in there were several tables empty. I love irani food and have eaten it in dozens of places in 10 different cities. The food here was good but somehow felt a bit less authentic. Rice lacked butter. Jujeh kabab was juicy n nice but felt different than what I have had before. Koobideh was low on salt. All in all good but maybe a little something was missing. Came out satisfied but not blown away. Service was good. read more
First time having Persian food and we thought it was delicious! Lots of Mediterranean adjacent dishes including kabobs and dips like hummus and tzatziki but with a twist. I ordered their bowl with lamb that came with lots of fresh vegetables, basmati rice and their yummy sauces. My husband ordered the lamb shank and it was fall off the bone tender with a great flavor. We ordered two of their house cocktails - their take on an old fashioned (Baba something?) was fantastic. Their House G&T was very floral and bitter - kind of tasted like drinking perfume so we didn't end up finishing that one. Prices were really reasonable and we were well taken care of! read more

I am always on the lookout for Persian food on any of my layovers and I have been wanting to try Maydoon for eons. As someone who frequents Persian eateries. I will say this - Maydoon is absolutely phenomenal. It has earned a spot in my top ten Persian restaurants in America. The restaurant itself has a classy yet cozy and subtle atmosphere. The service is excellent but the star of the restaurant is the food. I opted for a chicken soltani with a little tweak or having chicken and kubideh and to put it plainly it was absolutely wonderful. The chicken was tender and superbly seasoned and the kubideh moist and melted in the mouth. I look forward to returning and on my next visit I'm going for the saffron ice cream. read more

Are Dogs allowed?
No, this is a small upscale bar and restaurant. There is small patio area that may allow dogs but there is no posted signage mentioning dogs allowed.
Is the food halal?
Yes, on the dinner menu (website) it states that "our restaurant is proud to serve halal food."
Is there a dress code?
I didn't notice a dress code. Most people were dressed casual. Khaki's and button up shirt to Jeans and a sweater or tshirt. Comparable to what you might see at most dine in restaurants on a Saturday night.
Is this place halal?😌
Yes! It states on the website that the restaurant serves halal food and with vegetarian options as well.
