My husband is now spending Monday nights in OC every week for work. After trying a couple of other local hotels, we have chosen the Courtyard. It's perfect for our needs...centrally located, updated, large room, not too big of a hotel, easy parking, Starbucks downstairs in the morning, and best of all a friendly face - Andrew.

Around 3:00 AM, I discovered that the air conditioning in our room was not working. The room was hot, uncomfortable, and completely unsuitable for rest. Given the situation, we went to the front desk to request a room change. Instead of helping, the staff member on duty immediately became rude and confrontational. I calmly explained that she was extremely tired and asked if we could move our belongings in the morning (before 8 AM) rather than in the middle of the night. That's when things escalated. He responded loudly: "You are not supposed to do this. You cannot keep two rooms. That's not how this works." His tone was aggressive and completely unnecessary. I politely asked him to lower his voice, but instead he became even more agitated. He started yelling in the lobby, saying things like, "How could you do this to me? It's only me working today--why would you bring this up right now?" At that point, it felt like he was taking his frustration out on us for simply reporting a problem. As the situation continued to escalate, I told him he needed to control himself and questioned why he was escalating things so far. In response, he said he would call the police to remove us. Let that sink in--paying guests, in the middle of the night, dealing with a broken AC, being yelled at in the lobby and threatened with police involvement. The entire interaction was uncomfortable, unprofessional, and honestly shocking. I was exhausted, overheated, and just asking for a reasonable solution. Instead, I met with hostility and public confrontation. Basic service recovery, respect, and professionalism were completely missing here. Instead of being able to rest, we found ourselves awake at 3:38 AM writing this review. What should have been a simple service request turned into an unnecessarily stressful and disruptive experience due to the staff member's unnecessary dramatic attitude in handling the situation.

The overall facilities were very clean and spacious. I did work from a ballroom and it was open, stocked regularly with water for our team and we had everything we could need for our computers. The room itself was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and the sheets cozy. There was so much space to work from the room comfortably without feeling cramped. Location is super convenient to a small business strip with plenty of food and coffee options walking distance away.

The room is clean and comfortable. Love the bed and pillows and convenience of having amenities in the hotel. Now, for the negatives. When we checked in we were informed that it was going to be $39/night to park! Honestly, I was taken aback. Perhaps that is common in this area but given I booked the reservation over the phone, that is something that definitely should have been conveyed over the phone. It is my understanding this hotel was remodeled in 2024. It does have a new and modern feel about it. So, can you please tell me why they still have showers from the 90's when it was originally built in 2002? The water pressure is so strong in the shower that it hurts! There are adjustments and they are hard, harder, and hardest. Additionally, if you are still using wall showers instead of hand-held in 2026, you have fallen behind. Everybody knows being able to direct the shower is a much better satisfying shower. Additionally, the shower curtain is too short and it just blows around and no matter how you try water is all over the floor. Lastly, there are no safety strips or texture at all on the tub and they are just a slip away from a lawsuit. Several times both my wife and I almost slipped. Because of the sub-standard shower, I will not be returning to the hotel. If they remedy those issues in the shower, I would be happy to return.

The room we had overlooked the pool which looked like a nice pool with enough shade and chairs to lounge in. The room was simple and fairly clean. Nothing worth noting except for some wood shavings at the bottom of the sliding door that should probably be looked at. Pillows were very comfortable and soft sheets. The lighting is a bit dim so if you need good lighting for makeup you might want to use some natural light from the windows. Continental breakfast, it's a nice perk, not the best breakfast but hey it's free. Maybe you can replace those red delicious apples with a different type of apple. The alarm at 6:30 in the morning while I'm resting on vacation was absolutely criminal- that almost made this a 3 star review of it wasn't for your lovely front desk staff. Please check the alarm clocks first before your guests check in

However, I did kill a cockroach which I've never seen in my previous stay. Then on the 2nd to 4th night, the guest/s was noisy either jumping or running around at night. Then they played some thumping music. Their breakfast buffet is pretty good except for the nazi staff who gives a disapproving look as you get food. No personality at all. I checked out and then found out later on that they charged over $200 on my credit card when there should not be any charge at all. I called and the lady said that she would reverse the charge. Three days later and the charge is still there. I went in person to dispute the charge and the front desk that it might take longer to post on my credit card. I finally disputed the charge with my credit card and only then did a get a credit back.

First off the location is great for the parks, it's a doable walk when your feet are still fresh but if you're too tired they have their cute little trolley that drops you off and picks you up from the parks once an hour. It's a very quiet hotel, i've never had any noise issues staying there. The rooms are always clean and the beds are super comfy. Another plus is the A/C's always work great and since they renovated they're in the ceiling so it cools a lot more evenly. They've got a pool and hot tub plus a small wading pool for the little tykes! They've really stepped up their continental breakfast as well. Lots of choices and great things to grab for snacks later inside the park. The staff is always phenomenal and friendly. From front desk, to maids, to groundskeepers and security guards everyone smiles and greets you when walking by. We like a specific area of the hotel and they almost always honor that and are very personable. The price is pretty comparable to other ones in the surrounding area when you factor in parking fees for them. My family is usually willing to pay a little extra for that Candy Cane Inn charm. More affordable than any Disney branded hotel but still that great Disney level customer service.
