This is a fantastic gun shop, and although they also sell fishing supplies I was here for the Brass, not the Bass. Bill and daughter Riley are fantastic. They both have great knowledge and were a big help to this first-time gun buyer/owner. They let me handle a gun I was interested in, which is a cousin of the gun I ended up buying. Changing my order mid-process was painless. Bill as an ex-Marine has so much experience and a great rapport with his customers. I even got to see some of the unique challenge coins he has, something I'd never seen before in person. I learned a lot just by asking questions, and he recommended a great local outdoor range which I will very likely join. This alone will save me some money. I plan to order anything I can through their website to help our local store owner, especially ammo and some accessories and extra mags. Although things can get a little busy when it's just one person working the shop and more than one customer, it's Shangri La compared to the madness of COVID when I was looking to buy a lower for an AR-15. Imagine twenty people in line before store opening (Los Angeles) or standing room only in other shops. I learned never to go to gun shops in a rush. Plus, I always have questions and value the knowledge I get from shop owners and even other customers. Contrast this with Turner's in Temecula and wow, I had to wait at least 30 minutes just to find out I couldn't buy ammo until I'd been through the 10-day wait period and background check. One gets much more personalized service with Brass and Bass. Bill even field-stripped my new gun to show me how it's done. The service just doesn't get much better. Awesome place. I was out to buy a "Poverty Pony" AR15 build. I ordered my stripped receiver online through one of their online platforms. They called me a few days later knowing it was in store and ready to start DROS. What really shocked me is that the paperwork no joke took less than 5 minutes. I'm used to the corporate stores where you wait an hour for your number to be called then wait another hour for them to do paperwork and check it by multiple people. This is a 3.5 Rating with room to grow! SO, I NEEDED FISHING GEAR AND LIKE GUNS I dropped in last month. It was difficult finding the place with my GPS, but called the store and they gave me quick directions to their location. They are in a single story shop, with other similar shops, having their exteriors renovated, so you have to look for their signage. The parking is good with some spaces right outside the front door. MORE BRASS THAN BASS They are well suited for gun education and sales, but fishing is not really a strong point. They have basic fishing gear with more on the way. I found what I was looking for, because I just started fishing at Lake Skinner and needed bobbers, weights, and fake food. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS VERY TRANSACTIONAL If you are looking for a more cordial shopping experience, I would say check elsewhere. It's not that the customer servant wasn't helpful, but he seemed focused on getting product sold and moving on to something else. I brought my 2-shot Derringer pistol in to get it repaired because one of the barrels was not firing. After being charged for the repair, I was told the parts needed to be reordered because the wrong parts arrived. So I waited and waited. The parts came in after waiting 6 weeks. The repair was completed and I asked if they had test-fired the weapon. They HAD NOT test-fired the gun. After I test-fired the weapon on an approved range, the weapon still did not work. I was NEVER offered a refund. Just because the store is Marine-owned, doesn't make him an armorer. Good luck in the future. read more

Bought something I wasn't happy with, and I wanted a return due to it breaking on day 1, I took it in and didn't really speak to whoever took my purchased the day I bought it. The item was fixed by the owner. Only thing is that it doesn't work properly, and it feels so cheap. Eventually it broke again. Threw it away and money wasted. I would never go back; He Didn't want to except my return. I would have taken store credit at least, I kept eyeing a gun I've been wanting but I'm glad I didn't buy it now. He needs to practice being nice to customers. I didn't like that he was pushy when I wanted a refund or store credit. I should have been more pushy back. This place is awful. No greeting. Walked around and noticed all the prices were the same as any other big box store. Didn't offer anything unique. As I was leaving the owner pressed me if I had any questions. They don't have much ammo in stock and had about 5 rifles. Not much you can do for me. The shop was a complete mess. Boxes everywhere. Back counter was in disarray. He asked me about my rifle only to talk bad about it and who made it. Then began to lecture me about basics and things I already know when I didn't ask for his opinion nor want it. Here is a opinion, clean your store. It's embarrassing. I understand you have been shooting since you were a kid. That is great for you. You didn't need to tell me four times in the same conversation. Oblivious to social cues. When I walked in he was ranting about how dead people vote and how Biden stole the election. Oh you are a expert in how every county counts votes? Are you a delegate? When I first heard about this place I figured I had to check it out. I got the address and went there but couldn't find it because it's in a little corner of the shopping plaza. My biggest problem here is the location because damn its in a tight corner. Anyway the shop is very small but well organized with fishing gear on one side and guns and accessories on the other. I like how the prices are very reasonable and even questionable but the guns I saw are brand new. The employees are pretty helpful for a gun store compared to other places. I saw a very nice 1911 for under a $1,000 and I believe it was a Springfield or a Colt well anyway the prices here are very fair. read more

Currently using their gunsmith to do some work on my new rifle. Prices are super fair and they also give discounts to military. By the way......someone named "Eric L" posted a negative review on this place. He could not have been wrong. I was a customer that happened to be at this place at the time he claimed his false statement happened. He wasn't in for long and he barely came inside the door. He didn't even wait for 2 minutes and then owner/salesman was still busy with me. Everything Eric L posted was a complete lie and 100% false. I have read other reviews during this virus crap, and it's just not accurate. Through this entire thing, his focus has been keeping both his staff and customers safe. You do have to wait a while to be helped, it's a small storefront with only a few staff members. But when it's your time, your given 100% of their undivided attention. I walked in trying to get an appraisal, but the employees didn't even acknowledge me. When I walked out one employee followed me to my car saying "what's your fucking problem" and continued to say harassing things to the point of "you want some" with his arms raised, trying to engage in a gunfight in the parking lot (The employee had a weapon holstered outside the waste in front of the store in the parking lot) I can't believe how I was treated and feel I was racially discriminated against. read more

I don't like leaving bad reviews because you never know if the person is having a bad day. This is my 1st negative review. Keep in mind I went in with the intention of buying 3 of almost any 556 rifles they had in stock (July 1 is coming fast). Today, I walked into Brass & Bass and walked to the counter. There was a woman there boxing a rifle. I waited a few minutes and she never made eye contact with me or acknowledged I was waiting. I asked if they had any 556 rifles left. Without talking or eye contact, she used her thumb and pointed over her shoulder. I waited for her to say something, but she never did. I asked if she have any more of the Desert Sands in stock (the one she was boxing). She said only black this is for another customer. I waited thinking she would let me know when more were coming in or show me the ones she had in stock....anything resembling customer service or normal social behavior. I just stood there for a minute in silence and left. Still no eye contact, she said nothing as I was leaving. Seemed like she didn't want me there or just did care about selling me anything. Very weird vibe in that place. Will not be going back. I'll continue to drive to 2nd Amendment in Indio. They know how to treat customers right. Or, Turner's in Temecula. Called back a hour later and said he'd do some research and let me know within 24 hours. Called back 2 hours later, said he could order it and for $50 cheaper than 2 local stores. Went in for a simple swap on my Shotgun, replacing both my forend and stock. I was quoted $65 to get the job done and it would be done in a week. Long story short it took over two weeks and the price got jacked up to $90. The customer service is trash, I felt like I was bugging them the entire time I was in here. I went there as the new year and i never bought a weapon , i was issued one but never bought one, Any how i decided to go in and ask questions mainly about laws and regulations as california is not a friendly towards weapons of any kind, somehow i made the mistake of calling a rifle "" an assault rifle"" the man behind the counter got triggered *no pun intended*, he starting talking about how the liberal media calls it assault rifle and how its not an assault rifle , and where the AR comes from and what year was made...blah blah..Look maybe i could be brainwashed by the media by calling a rifle an assault rifle out of instinct but wasn't there for a pollical conversation i was there to ask question about the riffle this guy was talking about and guidance to educate myself on current laws with in california. Even my family was there and they all had a bad experience with this... so if you dont mind the politics and and are not new to owning a weapon then this place for u, i personally will look for somewhere alse where political agendas arent shoved down my throat idk maybe i asked too many questions guy thought i was the ATF, nice guy though , not rude and very knowledgeable though, i can say i would be down to drink a beer with him and discuss politics in a different setting. read more
