They put liens on your home after showing up when you do not request their services. They "say" you did sign up for the service. No contacts, no emails, no phone calls to tell you they are coming out to turn on your sprinklers, or even replace timers, they just do it and charge you and then say you asked for the service. They put a lien on my house. Company is a scam. They agreed to aerate my lawn for $75. I called them on the day of service to ask how to make payment they told me I would receive a bill. Two weeks later I called them again to see how I can make payment. They told me they send invoices at the end of the month. Four months later still no bill. I never heard from them, no letters no emails no phone calls. Today I received a certified letter with lien against my house. They're asking for $225. These Safari reviews are very familiar to our experiences when we were using Safari Lawn care for doing yard work at a rental of ours in Boise. Continuous billing errors, nearly every time something was done, I had to call Jeff to explain a problem, usually with being billed twice, poor work done or for work that wasn't even done at all, ... always something! We needed a row of 31 arborvitaes trimmed at our own residence and had a scheduled date with Safari to do the work but no one showed up to do it on the scheduled day. During that time frame, we had been seriously thinking about getting rid of Safari anyway because of the problems. I ended up hiring another Co. to trim the arborvitaes. A week and a half later -one- (1) kid showed up to trim the 31 arborvitaes that had already been trimmed and he started trimming... I explained to him (as he could obviously see) that the job had already been done by someone else and sent him on his way. The second Co. had sent 4 guys to do the job and it took them 4-5 hours to complete it. Safari's idea of one kid to do that job was a joke. About a month or so later we got a bill from Safari for trimming the arborvitaes. After round and round explaining to Jeff that the kid he'd sent out to do the work didn't do anything, the bill was voided. That's the last of any of our dealings we had with Safari. Terrible! I terminated my contract with Safari. Apparently, they thought I still wanted them to blow out my sprinklers. I hired someone else for that, while I was home, for $35. I get a bill from Safari for $75, after it was already done. When I contacted them they said "That's too bad". I offered $35 just to get them to go away. The initial sales service was good, the sprinkler job was understood and good suggestions were made. Executing the job is a different story. I wanted the hoses that were close to the surface trenched down deeper. Safari did very little of this. They even brought a sophisticated trenching machine but didn't use it; so they knew that was part of the job. I appreciate that they replaced the sprinkler control wires but the worst part of the job was that they cut the wire where it goes under a 6ft stretch of concrete and ran the new line on the outside of my home, twisting the wire around an AC hose and leaving it exposed and not buried again. The control wires weren't even twisted tight, nor buried underground. Safari Lawn Care holds true to the motto, "If you want something done right, do it yourself." I ended up having to do the wire replacement, drilling under the concrete and running the wire myself. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. read more

Like a previous review said, "run don't walk away immediately". I hired Safari to trim weeds and rake and remove on Aug 5. On August 16 a kid showed up with no notice. In the first 15 minutes he sprayed my daughter in laws parked car with rocks and debris. We yelled at him to stop, but he could not hear with ear buds or he just ignored us. She immediately moved her car to stop more damage. The kid stayed for about 3 hours, he did not trim all the weeds, he raked about half of what he trimmed and removed 3/4 of the piles of weeds I have previously trimmed and raked into piles. I contacted Jeff and stated that I am very dissatisfied, he did not respond to that, but the bill for $500 was promptly emailed to me. Jeff Mower at Safari Lawn Care is an absolute crook and scammer. We used his services at our office building in downtown Boise. We stopped by the building in July 2022 and noticed they weren't actually doing the work they were billing us for so we cancelled all services with them. They continued to invoice us from July 2022 through January 2023, and after multiple emails and calls telling him that we've canceled services and to stop sending invoices he said we owed him the money and put a lien on the property. NO ONE SHOULD EVER USE THEIR SERVICES!!! Jeff will rip you off and scam you out of money by placing fraudulent liens on your property. read more

This has been the worst service by far, I have ever received. Alex, who works for Jeff (the owner) who was sent to my home to assess the sprinkler drip system that I needed revamped, ended up being so shady. He took the job from underneath his boss, charged me the same price as the company charges and tried to get me to pay for supplies he stole from his company. I ended up firing him and reached out to his boss Jeff to inform him of this, and Jeff simply dismissed it. I double paid, the company and Alex and then was sent a bill for $301.72. I was livid. I paid the bill, a month later, and then received a notice from a collection agency! I am appalled. I am now having to dispute this on my credit. Turns out Jeff sent a subsequent bill for $23.00 for being late AFTER I paid the bill, and reported the $23.00 to the Credit agencies. After everything I had already went though, is this necessary!? STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! This was the worst experience I've ever had with any business. Read the other 1 star reviews too. I bought my first home this spring 2022 and called Safari to turn on my sprinkler system (I'd never owned one before). My neighbor said she thought Safari had been to the house before so I figured they'd know the system. Jeff came out and looked at it but couldn't figure out how to turn it on. He left apologizing for not being able to get it turned on and said he could redo the entire system but it would cost $4k+. He never once communicated to me there was anything owed. I called another company that same day who came out 2 days later and turned it on no problem. Everything worked great, it did not need to be redone like he said. In October 2022 I received a COLLECTIONS BILL from Safari for the sprinkler turn on he never completed! I never received a bill in the mail, an email, or a phone call from anyone saying I owed anything (which is correct since they didn't turn on the system). Suddenly 7 months later Jeff sent me to a collections company with a bunch of fees added. I never signed anything or filled anything out on their website yet somehow I'm in collections for a job that was never done??? When I called Jeff on 10/3 to explain this must be a mistake he insisted it was not and HE SAID THEY CHARGE CUSTOMERS WHETHER THEY DO THE JOB THEY WERE HIRED FOR OR NOT. Which I could not believe... He said if I did not pay the bill it would stay in collections and he would put a lien on my house. I was forced to pay a bill because Jeff (Safari) threatened my credit and my newly purchased house. All for a job he was unable to do. The fact that he sent it to a collections company without telling me there was a balance or sending me a bill first is unimaginable. His inability to appropriately operate a business correctly ended up being my responsibility. I (the customer) had to pay for his mistakes. Technically twice since I had to hire another company to do the job he could not. This company is strong arming customers into paying for things they should not with threats and they don't take responsibility for their mistakes. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY FOR ANY REASON. The right thing to do here would have been for him to apologize, erase the bill, and take me out of collections after I called him on 10/3. They were late in the fall to blow out the sprinklers. I had to call and leave messages to get them to respond. They did not arrive in the spring to do maintenance and replace heads. I had to call to get service. After tearing up a sprinkler head, they never came back to complete the job. I now have to find a new company to complete their work. read more

I usually only read reviews on Yelp and got a lot of help from helpful reviews. But I have to write something about this business. My husband called a sprinkler service in late May through a different company, not Safari Lawn Care. After the service, the guy told my husband that the bill would be sent to his email. A few days later, the bill went to my email address instead of his and in Safari Lawn Care's name, not the original company that my husband called originally. I am not sure how it was working like this. It seems like they are taking orders from other business. And one month later, my sprinkler had another problem. The bill didn't catch my attention because I didn't order any service from them. The email I got looked like a phishing email. And the second time I got it, they are charging me $85 late fee while the service fee is only $75. This company only cares about money. Find another lawn service. And ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS confirm the company name when the service person is onsite. We forgot to double check because we never had an experience like this before. It may not be the same one that you contact and you end up getting more than DOUBLE on the bill! read more

I agree that it can be difficult to reach Safari by phone, that work gets scheduled out a long way, and that it can take over a month to get a billing after the work is complete. However when I leave a message, someone always calls me back, when someone comes to my home, their assistance is meticulous, spot on, and well done, and when I get a bill, it is fair. As others have said they bill for services they don't perform. I was billed for 2 sprinkler head replacements and Jeff's response was "there's no way for me to know what my techs did". I'm now digging up sprinkler heads because they didn't actually check to see what worked. They reported low water pressure and said "I don't know why". The first guy turned on my irrigation and city water. When I tried fixing it I called and told Jeff I don't know if I did it right so he offered to come out and check. When I set up the service I told them they were recommended by a local realtor. They got my sister's email, for billing, and never showed up. We let Safari know via text message that we no longer in need of their service. So when we received a e-mail from them saying we needed to pay, you can imagine how surprised we were. We reminded them that we had canceled and had gone with another company, they insisted we hadn't. So I immediately called my new lawn company and asked if they had been going out and doing our lawn and they said yes, and told us the day of the week it was being done on. We emailed Bill back to ask him the day they said they were doing our lawn for those 3 weeks, it happened to be the day after the new lawn company came.... We explained that to Bill and asked why they wouldn't have called us if they arrived to a house with a freshly done yard... Why would you re-mow or take credit for work someone else did?!?!? After many back and forth email conversations with Safari they are not willing take any of the blame and have now put a lien on our home for $400. This was the absolute worst and most unprofessional company that I have ever dealt with in my entire life. The manager does not care about his customers at all. They came in and mowed my lawn and honestly a ten-year-old could have done better than they did. There was multiple spots that were completely missed a whole side of the trimming was completely missed and they did not pick up any of the trimmings whatsoever. The job was so bad I requested for the manager Jeff to come and talk to me about it to see if we could work something out because I was very unpleased with the job that I was paying for but he absolutely refused to come to the house and even look at it. I had to send him multiple photos and he said that he thought the job was done perfectly. We have continued to fight with him because we do not feel like it is Justified that we should pay for the terrible job and he refused to budge whatsoever to even come to a compromise. Please read all of the reviews and complaints filed for Safari on BBB before deciding. I actually called "Boise Best Lawn Care" after reading their positive reviews on Google. Kenny answered the phone and said "Safari." When I questioned the name of the company, he said he was recently bought out by Safari. I didn't take the next step and look up reviews of Safari. Mistake #1 on my part. However, my experience is very similar to several of the complaints filed with the BBB and reviews on Google for Safari. I asked Kenny for a quote on spring clean up. He says he charges by the hour, $65/per person per hour. (Mistake #2, I didn't ask for that quote in writing.) He says he usually sends out 1-2 people. We scheduled the spring clean up for the following week and he arrived on time, alone. He started the job at 9am, then left at 10:35am telling me he needed to run to the store to pick up more supplies (?!?!?!). I asked him how long he will be, and he said "not too long." I asked again, "15 minutes? 30 minutes?" He said "yeah, it shouldn't take too long." He returned at 11:30am and then abruptly left our house at 11:45am, running out as he told my husband that he was late for his next appointment. He left without asking us if we needed him to do anything else as part of spring clean up and also left without providing us with a bill/invoice. I was not able to catch him in time to ask for the final cost in person. A month later, we receive a bill by email for $250, almost double of what I was expecting to pay, before tip. Of course, this is higher than the quoted $65/hour for one person. I immediately responded to the email asking for clarification and received no response. Two weeks later, I call the same number for "Boise Best Lawn Care" and Jeff answers the phone. He tells me he will investigate and later calls me back to say the invoice is correct and there was a "dumping fee." Kenny never mentioned a dumping fee to me on the phone. Jeff then says he'll ask Kenny to call me to clear up misunderstandings. Kenny never called. I paid the $250 but told Jeff I would be leaving a review on BBB, Google, and Yelp. I just wanted to move on from this company and never use them again. I also would like to warn anyone else from being scammed. Please, find someone else to care for your lawn. I understand that this turns into "he said she said" because I did not ask for a written quote. I own my mistake #1 and mistake #2 above. Hired the company in 2014 to blow out my sprinklers. In 2015, unscheduled or approved by me, company allegidly blew out my sprinklers. Didn't find out about this until i received a bill for $55. As a note, the normal cost of this service in my area is $25 for a 4 zone system. Attempted to contact explaining I thought the billing was a mistake. Only ever got voicemail. 3 months of bills later (Now $75 owed due to "interest" due to unpaid bills) and no response from my voicemails, I get a lovely notice that I was being sent to collections unless I paid them for a service I never asked for. So, to clarify, this company allegedly provided a service that I (the homeowner) did not request/schedule/approve, then proceeded to threaten to send me to collections if I did not pay them $75. Sounds an aweful lot like extortion, doesn't it? After 2 weeks of e-mails, the owner agreed to reduce the cost in half $37.50. Wouldn't even dock his outrageous interest fees. I paid it simply to ensure that my credit was not damaged. I also filed a complaint with the BBB. You'll see this has happened to at least 1 other person with a very similar experience. A Warning. The owner justifies this by saying once you schedule an appointment, they will Automatically provide the service every year. Whether you agree to those terms or not, apparently. A simple phone call to the customer scheduling an appointment would resolve this, but I'm sure they know they would loose out on a lot of business if they actually confirmed that the customer wanted their service! God knows how many people just paid the fee not wanting to have to deal with the repercussions! I encourage you to stay away, simply on their shoddy business practices/ethics. read more

Jeff Mower has no command of the English language, you have to draw pictures for him to understand anything. His patented response of "oh, okay well take care of that" really means I'll do it half-assed at my convenience. Their billing practices are atrocious, they don't invoice for months at a time and when the finally do, add late fees and service charges that are arbitrary and capricious. They also have a practice of billing for services that are not performed so watch your statements closely. Bottom line is, we concur with many other negative reviews (Yelp, Nextdoor, etc.). I tried to hire them never herd from them after a few attempts I canceled said I would do it myself. I herd from them the next day saying they had already treated my property a few weeks prior when I didn't even have an account set up with them yet. Then I got billed so I called thier billing told them they have never been on the property it went in circles. Next I received another bill with even more charges for yet another service. When the renter (who also should have informed me) did not pay promptly, I was surprised with a claim of lien against my home. Jeff made no effort to contact me, the owner, prior to doing work or warning me of his intent to file a claim of lien. We came home on Memorial Day after a picnic to find that our yard had been sprayed, a flag in the yard saying keep off the grass, and a note saying they used roundup. We have small children, an organic garden, and did not order Safari's services. And they came on a holiday to a house that didn't want them there. We used Safari Lawn Care for our two rental properties and they performed the work requested. The pricing was slightly higher than other lawn care businesses but the work was reliable. Our concern and complaint follows what we have seen with this company as seen elsewhere on comment boards - the billing was a problem. They did not send billing for about three months and then wanted to charge for late and collection fees that should have been their responsibility. For these properties under management the management company sent two checks and Safari only cashed one of the checks then again assessed fees. We attempted to work with them as soon as we discovered that they had not been paid, but they were unwilling to do so and would not accept responsibility or be accountable for any of these issues. Did a great job quickly getting our irrigation back in shape after we added an addition to our house. They were able to start the next day after several places said it would take weeks to even get an estimate. James, who did the work was extremely professional and diligent. (Important in work billed by the hour.) Jeff, on the office side of things was great to work with all the way through the process.
