I'm went thru a divorce, and you know that is already stressful but to top it off this company Safe Home Security will not release my name from this agreement. Per my divorce decree it is in the court order he is responsible. I sent the divorce decree papers to them and this lady in their collections department was so unbelievably rude and had no sympathy at all or even cared about this and said I signed it, and I have to pay it. I'm not even in the house anymore and have not been since July 31, 23. I would not recommend this company to anyone as they only care about getting their monthly monitoring fee. if I could give zero stars I would. we have been loyal customers for 8 years. We were never late on payments the entire time. We have been experiencing issues with alarm for about a month. According to their customer service, there is one tech in the whole state of VA. we had to wait several weeks for first appt and the. tech came and thought he had fixed but the problem was back immediately. I called back they gave me another service date and they canceled the day before and didn't have another appointment for several weeks. Our contract is up for renewal which we decided not to do. we explained multiple times to multiple different customer service reps why we chose to cancel. They were pushy after that. The problem is, my grandma was diagnosed as having dementia within weeks of having it installed (which means she had issues with memory well before that). I contacted the company as I'm helping to take on some of her responsibilities and asked if they could close the account out. They asked for 90% of the 5 year contract, which amounts to $3300. Given that she doesn't even know who the company is and can't run the system, this is ridiculous. She has had overdraft fees and has been hurt by this constant charge. I get it, the guy didn't know she suffered from memory issues when he sold it to her. However, per her notes that I found she apparently attempted to close the account within the three days allowed on the contract but the tech that installed it never returned her calls. Her notes also state that she was told it would be $5 a month, not $65. I am absolutely livid to think that she may have been misled. Of course she doesn't even remember taking the notes at this point and I only found them while going through all of her stuff. I have called/emailed the company for close to 2 weeks and they keep asking for more documentation while still charging away. I sent documents that showed her as being treated for dementia. They then asked for the initial diagnosis paperwork, nevermind the fact that what I sent them showed her as having it and being on medication specific to dementia treatment. My guess is to try to correlate the date of diagnosis with when the contract was signed. It doesn't matter, she doesn't even know what it is or who the company is! At this point they have stopped responding to my emails even after I sent the paperwork for the initial diagnosis. I just want to close out the account, if I have to make this a legal issue I will. Don't bother doing business with this company. What a complete and utter joke. Update: Their VP Doug Hallowell reached out to me to state that because my mother who was taken in from my grandmother helped her through questions on a video (they weren't even informed of) that that is valid enough to charge an 82 year old person into debt. Nevermind that my grandma was who took my mom in. He commented that payments have been made fine (yeah because I have helped them for over a year and overdraft protection kicked in but still charges her). My mom hasn't been employed for 8 years because of physical/mental health issues and has zero income. I help as best I can but I can't get over the fact that they still don't seem to give a damn. He said "people have buyers remorse all the time". What a terrible VP to say that when she has dementia. I filed with the Better Business Bureau and reached out to a lawyer. Was with Safe Home Security for over 20 years. A few months back, we started having trouble with the sensor in our basement. We called for Service call and had to wait a couple of weeks. The tech finally came out and supposedly fixed the problem. A few weeks later, I set the alarm and didn't even make it to my car, and they were calling me saying I had motion in my basement. I disarmed the system and the next day I tried it again, with the same results. I call again for another service call and requested a Saturday appointment, as we both work out of town. I was told that they don't have any Saturday appointments, and if I wanted to make an appointment during the week, the next appointment was weeks out. Meanwhile, I cannot set the alarm because it kept activating as soon as I walked out the door. I then called to cancel my account. They told me that I had to give 60 day notice. I again explained I could not set my alarm, and that didn't seem to matter to them. A few hours later, I got a voice message from Safe Home Security stating that they found a Saturday appointment, which was three more weeks out. I have closed my account with them and will be going elsewhere. Waiting over a month to get service for a home protection system repaired is unacceptable! Stay away from this company!~ read more

A guy named Joe came to my house asking all kinds of personal questions of my husband. He used false pretenses to enter my home, then when I asked him for a business card, he didn't have one. No references, no identification, no pamphlets. I asked him to leave my home because I couldn't verify him and he got defensive. I called the police because the whole thing was unsettling and disturbing, turns out the guy was drunk, couldn't prove he worked for SafeHome and was cited for solicitation without a permit. This guy didn't even see our security cameras that caught the whole interaction. Do not trust anyone claiming to be a representative of this company, report them to the police as they may be canvassing your home and neighborhood. Kudos to Bret S. for attempting to do damage control on all the other reviews, clearly it isn't working so maybe you should just stop. Once the contract was signed, service was spotty. The installer never connected my windows as previously installed. I was supposed to be getting an update of my panel. The installer was very rude, he disconnected my windows and never returned to reconnect. Please read your fine print, they snuck in a five-year contract. I will complete the contract and rip this trash out of my house. I use EUFY and SimpliSafe for my rentals and love both. I would seriously consider any other security system but this one. We have not even had service that has worked for 9 months because it was 3g or whatever, the company should have sent new equipment as they kept charging us. I have had awful time trying to cancel my service!! I've called several times and on my third call, I was told to cancel in writing. Then I was told I didn't cancel in time and the penalty was paying for the next entire year. Didn't know that until, alarm set, I came through back door and when I opened sliding door alarm went off. This was after 3 1/2 years called and asked for a rep to place a sensor and since my home wasn't "Safe". Set appointment and they canceled a few days later. I have requested his service be discontinued and they just keep saying he signed a contract. A contract they will not produce. They bought out my security contract from my local homebuilder in NV and I signed a 3 year contract. Since that time my service has been down 6 weeks each (in 2022 and again in 2023) as they are unable to provide a local technician any sooner to handle issues. 6 weeks without security is unacceptable to a senior and a disabled veteran couple. I have written them and requested to be let out of my contract early, since they clearly took on a contract in a location that they have no technicians to service, but they have refused so far. Two guys came to my house claiming to be from Spectrum, they said they were offering a discount on internet and TV if we would sign up for a security service, it seemed to be legit and I fell for it. The offer was they would reduce my Spectrum bill the same amount as the security bill, so internet, TV and security all for the same price I was already paying for internet and TV. After a few months of no Spectrum discount I finally called Spectrum, the two men did not work for Spectrum and they would not be reducing my bill as they had no partnership for association with this company. Not sure that my review will come as a surprise given how many poor reviews this company has received. Check out their C- BBB rating as well. Really tells you something about a company when their Yelp rating is 1* and their BBB is a C-. In any case, here is my review: First the good - I purchased a Toll Brothers brand new construction home about 4 years ago. I was told that they required me to sign an agreement with this company for home security. Well - who doesn't want good security so I signed the agreement without thinking too much about it. It was a 3 year agreement. At the end of 3 years, I decided to cancel. The system did what it was supposed to do and I don't have any complaints about that. However, having teenagers at home, I could never get them to arm the system. So I decided to cancel the service after 3 years with the idea that I would consider reinstating it after my kids move out (but since my experience is so bad - that will never happen!). 1st call - In July of 2023, I called SH to tell them I would like to cancel. I was told. No problem - we will cancel your account, and we're sorry to see you go. After about 3 months, I received a notification from Credit Karma indicating that they had reported me 90 days late! I wasn't aware that they were reporting me to the credit bureau, but in any case, I was furious (I am very protective of my credit). 2nd Call - In October 2023, I called to tell them that I was reported 90 days late and what the heck! This should have been canceled. I was told by the customer service person that they do not accept cancellation orders via phone call - it must be in writing (email). I was more than a little irritated, but life is too short so I asked for the email address to send the cancellation notice to. I sent an email that same day. 3rd Call - I never received confirmation that the account was closed - so I called customer service after about 30 days. I was told that they do not have record of my email. They then gave me a DIFFERENT email address to send my notice to. I sent another email cancellation to the new email address. A few days later I received notification that the account had been closed. Around April of 2024, I get another notice from Kredit Karma that my account had been reported late again! 4th Call - I call customer service. Speak with a manager, Jessica Tourangeau. I told her that I was extremely frustrated because I had been trying to close this account in good faith since July of 2023 - and I kept getting incorrect information. She looks into the account and tells me that there is a past due balance. That I owe 200+ on the account but that the manager had forgiven me all but 78 of that so that I needed to pay 78 to close the account. I was completely floored. In all my other calls, the CR persons didn't indicate anything about past due amounts owed - but in any case - the reason that there was an amount owed is because they KEPT BILLING ME after I had told them to close the account. I tried to explain this to Jessica, and that they were negatively affecting my credit. She kept saying, "But you are late, so we are correct in reporting you..." I kept trying to explain to her that the only reason I am late is because of the information received from SH about closing the account. It was like speaking to a robot. She could not understand why the company's actions were at fault. I finally just threw up my hands and told her that I would pay the 78 to just be done with them and that I would dispute it with the credit bureau. Brings us current - I look at my credit score and notice the account is still showing late and open! 5th Call - let me start off the 5th explanation by reminding everyone that I have been trying to close this account, in good faith, for about a year now! In any case - I call and speak with Alison, a customer service manager. She wouldn't give me her direct email but the email address she gave was customercare@myshs.com. In any case, I explain the whole situation for the 5th time. She then tells me that the account was not cancelled because I still owe 120.20 (which is the 200 amount minus the amount I already paid). I told her that I was told by Jessica that the amount owed was 78 which is what I paid the last time. It was like speaking to a brick wall. Alison just kept saying that they reported me late because I did not pay the amount owed. I kept trying to explain to her that the reason I was late is because the account was not closed after multiple attempts and yet they kept billing me additional months. She completely disregarded what Jessica said to me - just saying that she does not have any record of the company "forgiving" me the other amount. I finally got her to admit that the calls were recorded so supposedly they will review the call. Anyway - running out of room to write more! I genuinely felt safer without the use of a security system than I feel relying on Safe Home Security. We've had multiple instances of alarms going off at inappropriate times due to problems with the equipment. We've noticed a lack of knowledge about equipment and services from almost everyone we've spoken with at the company. The customer service department has been unhelpful. We were told that our account was inactive moments after the company unnecessarily dispatched emergency services to our address. Now we are struggling to have our service canceled. This system came with my new home. I cancelled the service in 5/2022 after about 12 calls and 20 emails. The other reviews are self-evident as no normal company can have this many bad reviews unless they are true. Its just impossible for this many folks to be lying. So, after finally getting it cancelled i just received a bill in the mail. After calling customer service and choosing almost every option to finally get a live person. I was string along with all the questions of"why do you want to cancel?" and "i have to fill out a long form to proceed with your cancellation so pls tell me why your cancelling". So, after being on hold multiple times i was told a Supervisor will review my cancellation request form and get back to me in 24 hrs". What company in 2023 does not immediately cancel a service at the customers request? I felt bad for my Customer service Rep(Leonard) as he was a nice guy working for an evil crap company. After reading some of these reviews i thank God i never gave them any bank or credit card info. I will update this review after the 24hrs.. 5/18/23....Its 24 hrs and no call and no email from SimpleSafe so i called them and used the extension of the Rep from yesterday(Leonard ext 1771) and left a vm because no one has ever answered the phone when i have called the last 8 hrs at various times. 5/19/23...No call backs yet as we start day #3 of this adventure trying to get a live person on the phone as i choose any and all options they give you when you call even the Spanish line. Finally got through to a different Tep named Ruth and she informed me my account does show i wish to cancel it and that is currently 'being reviewed by payroll". When I asked Ruth what that means exactly she told me that 'i dont know what they do down there".But i should get a call tomorrow so lets see how this goes. Can i just add that Ruth didnt think any of this insanity was abnormal in any way when it comes to cancelling a service. 5/20/23...Got a text from original Customer Rep Leonard saying its the weekend so nothing will be solved for a few days but they are "looking into my case to cancel my service' and i should check back Monday 5/22/23. 5/23/23...After 2 complaints filed with the BBB i got an email from the BBB that my service "has been cancelled" and then a text from Leonard saying the same. Someone from Safe Home Security got him signed up, and they've been billing him ever since, but monitoring was never actually switched from Brinks to SHS (we called Brinks to confirm this). If this company could be rated a zero I would. Looks like we're going to court. They probably should have offered me an amount to cancel but instead here we are. I never signed the contract they said I did. They supposedly have a phone call recording that is not me. I would have MEVER signed anything for 66 months. Once again they called last week breaking Indiana consumer protection laws Dawn Doorman demanded repeatedly I give her a reason for wanting to cancel the service. We have computer forensics on the alleged contract I allegedly signed it was created and modified on the same day by Haley P in 2022 when I was supposed to have signed it on 2020. They use spoof business names when calling your phone identifying themselves as another business. Furthermore I sent in writing that they stop sending signals to my home in writing. Dawn Doorman told me they will do what they want and send what they want to my home. That is a violation of federal law. I have filed with the Indiana Attorney General and also have spoken with the Connecticut Attorney General and will file with them this week. We have e also contacted a lawyer to go ahead with a lawsuit. I can share the attorney he has already won 2 lawsuits with Fiat Chrysler a few years ago when we had issues. Additionally after a discussion with the attorney this afternoon I obtained some information that may help someone else. If they have hung up on you as the have done to me and/or refused to respond back to emails and just put "Ticket Closed" as they have also done to me they are in direct violation of DOCKET NO. Another big thing in the discovery was if you send them in writing as I have to stop sending signals to your home and they continue to send monitoring signals they are in Federal Violation Territory on illegal monitoring. When I tried to cancel, they wouldn't let me. They claimed I signed a contract, which I didn't. Privacy and security are not a priority to this company. So one of their customers created an account with this company using MY email address. I am getting all of her security alerts. It is very annoying. But I was an honest citizen trying to report this. I have received 17 notifications from this company within the past hour for their customer that apparently doesn't know their own email address. I called the company to report the mix-up. The customer service rep said that there's nothing they could do, and I should just delete the emails. Granted, I am receiving emails about this customer reporting a police and a fire panic. Seems like an invasion of her privacy. My response back to the operator, "This doesn't sound very SECURE for a SECURITY COMPANY...that I have the login information for YOUR CUSTOMER now does it? Shouldn't a security company be more SECURE? I can see everything going on at her house. I can change her password if I wanted to." I could theoretically log into this lady's account and start theoretically hacking into her house. A salesman came to my house yesterday and gave me the whole pitch. I'm not happy with my current vivint service so I was interested in their offer. I knew I had three days to cancel so I signed up. The salesman wanted to schedule installation immediately but I told him I'd do my due diligence first. He looked a little defeated at that point. We scheduled the installation for today. I went ahead and read the reviews. After that, I called their office to cancel the installation. They sent me a letter of no obligation since the contract doesn't start until the equipment is installed. It's also strange to me that even though they say they're a local company with no ties to vivint, the salesman had a Utah phone number. Maybe just a coincidence but I don't think so. This business is absolutely horrible. I signed a contract with a a security installer company. That contract ended and it then went month to month. No where on my contract was Safe Home listed. My monitoring service was changed by my installer company. It was changed over the phone and I was never told via the Safe Home person or the installer company that written notice had to be sent. This occurred February 2020. I never received any notice from Safe Home or anything, so I assumed service cancellation was accepted. Fast forward to December 2020 and me refinancing my house. I get told from the lender than I have a notice on my credit saying I owe a balance to Safe Home. I call them and they say I owe almost $600, for a service I haven't received since February. No supervisors contact me back after multiple attempts. It took weeks to get ahold of Karen Christiansen, who I hope sleeps well at night ruining people's bank accounts during Covid times of people not working. Karen essentially disregards/doesn't even address all the reasons how I'm not liable, not to mention the fact that I don't even have a contract with them. She tells me she will only cancel/close my account and notify the credit company when the balance, which was a different amount than I was initially told, is paid. I was never sent notice that I owed a balance. Karen tried to say they mailed me letters, but they had by previous address on file and not my current. So their service was useless for me for the almost two years I was in my new house since first responders would have been sent to my previous address. They only updated my address in their system when I sent them the cancellation email. I've sent 5 emails trying to cancel the account that still haven't received a response about. In summary they will accept cancellation over the phone and then not close your account, keep a balance accruing for months without notifying you, not send you any letters or messages telling you that you owe money, notify credit companies of the owed balance, then refuse to close your account unless you pay a balance you don't owe. Best kicker is they do this even if you don't have a contract with them! The Connecticut Attorney General's Office already has won a lawsuit in 2014 and then filed an injunction for this company continuing their predatory business practices in 2019. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY WILL EXTORT YOU. Zero stars if I could. In response to the Director of Service stating there was a "miscommunication", since I can't message him directly or comment back: There was no miscommunication. I never had a contract or policy with your company. I signed a contract that never mentioned your company name. I had a balance accrue on my account after the service was cancelled by the company I had a contract with and I was present for. Your customer service department and your manager in collections, Karen, all gave me different balance s that were owed. When I finally called in to pay the balance since it was now affecting my refinance of my home, I have to call several times and was hung up on by the collections agent. I finally was able to pay the unjustified balance on my inactive and closed account and was charged a different amount than the manager in collections, Karen, stated was going to be due in order to close the account. Also, you guys should verify you have the correct address on file. You had the incorrect address for me for almost two years. Had I needed first responders to my home, you would have sent them to my previous address. This is also the address you allegedly sent bills and letters to. However I never got them because, you know, you had the wrong address on file. Which I can't help but believe is another scheme in your predatory business practices. But you still never sent me certified mail that I had to sign for, like most collections agencies do. Everything you do is a scam. Your business practices are shameful and I don't know how you or your employees sleep at night charging people that don't even have contracts with your company. Thanks for giving me the general customer service phone number that will do nothing to help me whatsoever. Am I to call that number and ask to speak with you directly because all of your employees, with the exception of one, that I spoke with never forwarded my information to a supervisor that contacted me. Or your supervisors don't care. I was told to essentially "go f*** myself" on numerous occasions. So I'll be in touch with the CT and NV Attorney Generals Office and the BBB. I'm sure there's another injunction heading your way due to your continuing your business practices. read more
