I had a security system installed in the Spring of 2021. I agreed to a three year (36 month) contract with Safe Home at my previous address. Upon moving (Spring 2024), I sent in my letter of cancellation as the agreement had come to term. I received multiple letters insinuating that I had signed a contract through 2027. I have sent in demands to have this account cancelled and charged off as I did not agree a contract of that length. I have been ignored. I am now receiving collection letters and calls with threats to affect my credit score. The government action that Safe Home is currently going thru - providing consent judgement settles allegations that the defendants violated state consumer protection laws by using deceptive long term auto renew contracts and engaged in illegal debt collection practices - is the same thing that is happening to me. I will be contacting the attorney general in both Missouri & Connecticut if this account is not settled and resolved. read more

They claim they are saving you money when they are in fact committing you to a 5 year contract which can only be cancelled by buying out your contract. They require you pay at least 90% of the $4009.57 package. My mother entered into a contract with this company in February of 2022 at 80years old. She was moved into a nursing home in September 2022, we sold her home and tried repeatedly to cancel the security system but were unable without paying $3009.57. Don't get trapped in this contract. AMP Smart is much more cooperative and willing to work with you under extenuating circumstances. read more

On April 16th we notified, Safe Home Security that we are selling our home and wish to cancel the contract for my residence only. We also have an account with them for our place of business. They denied our request and demanding that we pay them, $220.46 to release us from our contract. I do not have the ability to transfer my service to the home that I am renting. Safe Home Security is a company that intentionally engages in tactics to rip off its customers. I had a contract. The contract expired. I refused to renew. They continued to auto debit my bank account. I placed a stop pay to terminate the debits after several hundred dollars had been taken out. I emphasize, this is after the contract had long expired and been paid in full. They reported my stop pay to the credit agencies! I made a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and learned they have settled a lawsuit on similar rip off business practices with the Connecticut Attorney General, and then after promising to reform settled a court contempt action for failing to honor their agreement to reform. Piling on here, sounds like a class-action lawsuit should be explored by any lawyer looking to make a nice commission. In short, doing business with this company exposes you to predatory practices, the worst customer service you'll experience for the decade, binding arbitration clauses, dense and nearly illegible contract formatting, and absolutely no accountability on their part. This is a company that exists simply to bilk money from its customers in exchange for a bare-minimum type of product Dealing with Safe Home Security has been an absolute nightmare: they have no website you can login to view your account, manage payment activity, or do anything that you'd normally expect with a modern service provider. Further, if you move to a new city like San Francisco, can't afford a million-dollar home, you are fully responsible for the 90% of the balance of your FIVE-YEAR CONTRACT which for me equates to well over one thousand dollars to end my monthly payments. No exceptions, no suspended contracts, no alternatives: pay monthly for five years or terminate but pay anyway. Safe Home Security is a business with predatory cancellation practices, forced arbitration (meaning you can't take them to court), and the language in their contracts is entirely focused on what clients can or cannot do -- nothing in their contract language is friendly to you, it is written entirely to shift accountability and responsibility away from their company and onto their customer. I wish I could choose 0 stars. I'd rather set up a home alone booby trap for protection than ever deal with this scum of the earth company. Consider this a warning to anyone even possibly considering Safe Home. My client has utilized Safe Home since 2012, in 2021 they called Safe Home because their security system was not working, they were told that it was because they were using an old system on a "3G tower," and it needed to be upgraded to a "4G" compatible model. While the service worker was there, he harassed and forced my client into signing a 5 year contract. At the time of the forced contract, they were heavily medicated and unaware of what the employee even had them sign until they went to cancel the contract because they are no longer able to live by themselves and therefore would be leaving the home and did not need their services. All instructed documents were sent to Safe Home, and they denied their cancellation. Upon speaking with various employees at Safe Home, I was told that in order for the (illegal) contract to be cancelled that (1) the house must be sold and threatened my clients power of attorney with putting a lien on the house (the house is under Trust and the house will remain in the family, so not an option to sell), or (2) they must die. Worse, one of their employees (Dawn) stated that even if they die that the estate is responsible for the remaining contract, that should have been null in the first place. Again, the contract was made while my client was incapacitated and not legally able to make a contract and the employee took advantage of an elderly individual, whose deteriorating health was VERY visible, and locked them (unwillingly) into a 5 year contract. The client has since stopped payment at their bank, and is being harassed daily by Priscilla in collections. They are the worst home security company. They bought Toll Brothers Security in Las Vegas and they are horrible. I had issues with my alarm that they couldn't resolve. Finally installed a different system. Now they want me to pay for monitoring for 6 months when there is nothing to monitor. Spoke with at least 6 different people and have gotten no where. In 2019, A agent contracted me and I signed a 3 year contract, it expired in 2022, then the same agent let me sign a new 5 year contract to 2027. On Oct 10th, 2023, I transferred the ownership to another company, and the company continues to use their system. Recently I emailed to close my account, however I was told that the ticket was closed, and let me provide the sales of business, I provided it and verified that we have completed the ownership transaction. SHS agent continues to let me pay buyout to 2027. Ridicules, it looks like a scam company. Same way I transferred ownership to the new company with Comcast, Potomac Edison... my contract will be automatically terminated by the new company signed a new contracT. To even give this company 1 star is an insult to stars. Two years ago, we had a salesman from Safe Home Security knock on our door and claim he could save us money on our existing security system. I specifically remember discussing our plan to move in the next couple years with the salesman and the fact that we didn't want to be under contract for that reason. We wanted to maintain flexibility to cancel at any time because of our uncertain timeline. I was assured MULTIPLE times that would be the case and we'd have that flexibility to cancel on a month to month basis at our discretion. We still said no several times, but he was badgering to the point that we believed him and that's the only reason we opted to move forward. I called Safe Home on August 22nd to submit our cancellation request for the end of August. Keep in mind I called several times the week before, but could never get anybody to answer after staying on hold for 20-30 minutes each time. To my complete shock, I'm informed that we are no able to cancel and we would owe monthly dues through 2025 if we did. I am absolutely stunned. In hindsight, I am absolutely appalled by the unethical business practices of this company and the manipulation that occurred. Over the past week and a half, I have either emailed or called daily. Could not get a response at all! Finally received a response this morning from Tonia, the manager of Customer Retention. It was a complete joke - the most heartless, least empathetic business email I've ever received. Essentially told me I'm screwed and I owe them $1,000+ to get out of my contract. As if that isn't enough, they will "offer" to move my old system to our new address for a large fee. Keep in mind, this isn't even their equipment! I already had it prior to signing up with them! Sent email and escrow paperwork, do not feel I should have to provide my personal info. (sale of residence with details ) Escrow paperwork shows date of sale. Was told they would review my request. I've been trying to cancel the SHS alarm monitoring service for years but have been unsuccessful so far. I'd like to go to other companies for my security system and SHS refuses to acknowledge my cancellation request. SHS has been saying that I failed to send my cancellation letter on time and that the service is on auto-renew. SHS so far has not been able to show me any renewal contract as proof. Does anybody have any recommendations on how how to successfully get out of SHS's scam? If I can help anyone with making a decision about signing up with company please save yourself the time and problems. I was a loyal client for over 12 years, at multiple locations. I have dealt with customer service issues, hardware failures, and lackluster call tree frustration when trying to reach human being. My latest gripe, I served my contract out, paid in full, and cancelled. I'm not going to steal the thunder from these other reviews, their cancellation process is horrible. I played by their rules, cancelled the contract, service monitoring, all through writing. Fast forward a year later, credit score takes a hit over 127 points because of an open balance. I flipped. I had a past due balance of $1.00, a paperwork fee. No bills sent to my residence, no collection letter, just a charge after I cancelled, after i paid the balance of the contract out to get rid of them, just sent to collections. Here I am, logged a complaint with Allison, who was very sorry, with no call or resolution back. No empathy, no care, no sense of urgency. I have no faith they will call back. Called all the credit bureaus and sorting out my next steps. $1.00 balance, no bill, no notice, sent to collections. Scumbags. The only words come to mind. I will keep you posted if they ever call us back. Do yourself a favor, pay the extra money and find yourself a company who actually cares about their yelp rep, BBB rating, and overall customer satisfaction rate. Stay away from this company they are the worst. The sales people (Nick Fulin) lie and tell you one thing and then the corporate office tells you the opposite. I have them for my alarm system and my security camera outside. They installed my security camera end of March and by end of May the camera battery went dead. I contacted the sales person (Nick Fulin) and he said to take it down and recharge it and if that didn't work he would send someone out to look at it. I recharged the battery and re installed and now the camera doesn't record properly. Then the sales person (Nick Fulin) said to call a tech support number that he provided which I did and they said the camera settings were correct yet the camera still doesn't record properly. I filed a complaint with the better Business bureau on this company and now the company is giving me the run around and telling me I agreed to the terms of the service agreement. To this day I am still fighting with their corporate office and they aren't doing anything to resolve my issue. I called to cancel my service and in addition to waiting 10m for a customer service person I was told I need to write a letter requesting the cancellation as well as show documentation for why I wanted to cancel the service. Then I was told it could take 2 months to process, sounds like an extra billing period to me. This is ridiculous! As a customer I have every right to cancel for any reason I want. I was validated so there was no disputing it was me. They just want to make it difficult so they can claim I never cancelled properly and they can keep charging me. This is a scam and a terrible ending to what was otherwise a decent experience. I see that this problem is rampant in the company based on some other reviews. What a scam. I can't work with a company that I can't trust. The sales people blatantly lied to me. They have zero internet presence, so you can't really confirm anything they tell you. Their customer service is garbage. It takes so long to answer, and then no one really helps. One representative said "Sorry because you're not a corporation I can't help you." They offer to do things and then you find yourself calling for a week about the same issue. Scam of a company. My experience begins with their salesman. He claimed to be from the neighborhood watch and claims they want to give me a security system as a welcome to the neighborhood gift. He tells me that it is all paid for and I just have to put the sign in my yard. Next day I got a bill. They explained that they had me on a 5 year contract and I would have to pay. The security company I was with was bought out and the customer service now sucks. I had a problem with the system during the holiday and got a totally unhelpful tech by the name of Derrick. Then I waited 2 days to hear back after calling the next day so I called and spoke with a supervisor named Ashley that said my problem was solved and I need to wait 2 days to hear from the local technician. How is the problem solved by my waiting 2 MORE days and the system is not functioning. Find someone else since all I got for security is nothing. Here it is 4 days later and still no call. This representative agrees that the account should have been closed 6/2018 but somehow wasn't. This is now reflecting poorly on my credit report and this hasn't been rectified or resolved as of yet. If I could give a minus zero I would. These people came to my door saying they were local and could take care of my needs faster than the system I had at the time. This new system started reporting malfunctions with some of the sensors and then the main box started beeping. I called to get a technician out to check on it. They scheduled a date, I waited long after the time they gave me and then called them. They scheduled another day then the day before called and said the technician couldn't make that date and rescheduled. Again they called the day before and said they had to reschedule again. I called today because they rescheduled again and I told them I had much better service with my old company. I am checking my contract to see if or how much it will cost me to go back. We signed with this company when we took over our unit from my mother. She had used them before. I should have examined the contract in detail, but trusted the salesperson, as he was a family friend. Now that cell towers are being upgraded, they want to charge the client for the upgrade. I would think that is the cost of doing business and they need to absorb it for clients that have an existing contract. But, no. I don't want to pay it and now my alarm system is not operational, but I am still on the hook for the monitoring contract until Dec 2022! Shady company! Entered into a 5 year contract with this company. Now they are saying we have to pay an additional $5 a month and extend our contract another 3 years because of cell tower upgrades. That is not a consumers problem and the contract is binding for BOTH the consumer AND the company. When my wife called into the customer service manager Michael Kostek he was less than helpful and laughed at her when she said she would file a complaint with the Attorney General and Better Business Bureau. I have contacted the company's customer service several times to cancel my account and get the payoff amount, but to no avail, they haven't sent me the information nor have they cancelled my account. I get the email about them receiving my request and I also get the emails from them saying that the case has been closed. But when I called to ask why I haven't received the payoff information, they say something is wrong with my email address. "Sir, I have received multiple emails from you already, so how is that possible?" Worst security company. Equipment stopped working less than 6 months after they installed it and locked us into a 5 year contract. I have set 7 appointments. Only one has had someone show up. He disconnected and reconnected the alarm and told me it was faulty and I needed to pay hundreds of dollars to replace a part in it. I said that should be under warranty and I expected the company to fix it.... he said to work it out with them and left. My husband passed in October 2020, I ha d no need for a security system as I went to live with family. They held me to the contract, had to pay a buyout of almost $900.00, for a product I didn't need.
