They encountered problems when trying to recalibrate the sensor, as the process failed numerous times. They had to get the OME windshield approved by my insurance. This process was extremely fast and the had the OME windshield installed and calibrated in less than a week. I was very pleased with my experience at Safelite on Oxmoor Road. read more

I had an unfortunate event that required a replaced back windshield. I was able to set up a mobile service through my insurance app. Sadly, my comprehensive coverage has a high deductible so the replacement was going to be out of pocket. I got a confirmation text right away after scheduling. In addition, I got a confirmation text the day prior to the scheduled service. The timeframe given to me was 8a-12n. The morning of the service, I received a call from the technician James, informing me that I was last on his list for the day so he would likely be coming around 12 or 12:30 and asked if that was okay. I told him it was. He was very professional and polite. A little bit later in the morning he called to let me know he was delayed due to an issue with a prior installation and apologized for the inconvenience. He arrived about 1:30 and communicated his arrival. He was pleasant and professional throughout the service. They do not have a way to slide a credit card, but can manually enter the info. That was an issue for me as some of the numbers were worn off the card, so I thought I'd mention that. You can also pay online when you schedule it. The job was complete in the expected timeframe. I was instructed on care procedures as the glue/adhesive set. (Keep tape on for 24 hours, no car wash for a week, but rain is okay. Don't tint for at least a full week) Speaking of which, when I took it to get tinted, the technician was unable to place the tint as the metal between the deck panel and metal body underneath the back dash was too tight on the right side to apply the tint. This was not the case when it was first tinted, so I'm not sure what happened with that. Overall, great service. It cost me $560 dollars to replace the back windshield. There was no cost to remove the previous tint as the whole windshield was shattered and had to be replaced. read more

I had a small crack in my windshield that I had to get replaced. Safelite had previously repaired a crack for me in my other car. So I decided to give them a try again. It was easy to book the appointment online. I was able to find the location easily. Last time I used them, they came to my job. But I live outside of the mobile servicing area, so I had to come to the location. There was parking right out front. The agent at the desk was very helpful and they immediately took my car back and it took less than an hour for them to finish. While you can still see the small crack, so far it has not spread and this is what I was hoping for. Overall, great service and the process with insurance was also easy. read more

I had a great experience with this Safelite. Although I had to drive almost 2 Hours, they got me in the week my windshield was damaged versus waiting weeks in Huntsville. USAA makes it very easy with their partnership. I was in and out in 2 hours and they even had to recalibrate the sensors on my windshield. read more

Had 11am appointment & told it would be 2-3 hours. 5 hours later the only phone number I had was a corporate number that had me on hold for 18 minutes. Then was told it would be 30 more minutes. Tried calling back at 4:55pm and the corporate number said they were closed and to call back the next day... finally took an uber back to store and was told they tired my cell and it went to voice mail with a full box. Interesting because there wasn't a missed call from an Alabama number. So if you want to get a run around, not have a local number to contact and wait for 7 hours to get your car back... read more

This has little to do with this particular location, but Safelite auto glass process is not easy to work with I have a crack in my windshield. So I need it replaced. If you start the claim online, you will fill out all the information to start the claim, Complete the online process, then get multiple emails and a couple phone calls, then have to talk to someone and give ALL that Info again TWICE on the phone. It is very frustrating. I dropped off my keys in the drop box this morning at 7:30am They let me know in the afternoon that they were starting on my car. I got a VM that it was ready for pickup. Great. I came in the lobby with my mask on. A girl at a desk not ear the lobby window asked if she could help me. I told her I was here to get my car. She asked me my name from across the room. I told her, she couldn't hear me. She dis not come to me but yelled for me to repeat it. So I had to announce my name again to everyone in the office and lobby. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH SAFELITE. Absolutely terrible. I came with a small chip in my windshield, barely noticeable, but wanted it to be repaired. I left with the longest crack that extended to the edge so it can't be repaired and they won't waive anything because their technicians are incompetent. Theynwere training someone on my glass and cracked it. Go anywhere else. Your insurance should have a list. Safelite will never get my business again. I will also warm anyone with in need of a repair or replacement to never go there as well. This wouldn't happen if you would have waived the fee and fixed my windshield. Go to professionals. I was impressed with the professionalism with my service in the Birmingham area, but was a little disappointed with the end result for the single chip that was repaired. My understanding is you shouldn't really be able to see the chip after the service is complete, but not only can I see it but it is starting to slowly spread again. Unreliable--crazy because you pay a premium for Safelite because you think you can depend on them. I scheduled an appointment with Safelite last Friday. First available appointment was today (Wednesday) 12-5. Annoying, but they're busy, it's ok. Yesterday, I get a call AND a text confirming my appointment. Wow, that's squared away! Today 12pm I'm standing by patiently waiting for Safelite to show up and Safelite-repair-Safelite-replace. Today 2:30pm, I receive a call and text informing me that my appointment has been canceled and rescheduled for next Monday. Apparently a technician "called out". Ok, do they only have one technician? Did the technician call out at 2:30pm? Why is my appointment being canceled halfway into my 5-hour appointment block. Fortunately I called a local shop and they can do the job on Friday $50 cheaper than Safelite. At least I learned a lesson. read more

These guys accepted the appointment online, took my vehicle information, VIN and all optional equipment and wait until I've been at their shop for 30 minutes to tell me they don't have the tools to replace my Miata windshield. "Someone should have called, we have a lot of new people, the factory won't sell us the needed tools, the last one we tried to do took 3 months to get right, we're real sorry" Amateur hour. Avoid at all cost. UPDATE: * I ended up getting the windshield replaced at Cassaddy and Self. They did a great job, it was finished before the time promised and it looks like new. More than a week after Safelite admitted they didn't have the tools or knowhow to replace my windshield, they keep sending me emails asking me to reschedule my appointment. I made appointment at 930am to replace my windshield and call back around 130pm to see if it was ready. They said it will not be ready until 500 because the system said I choose a drop and go. I spoke with the agent and manager and said why would I choose that option if I brought it in at 930. I could have taken my car another place, they also charge my credit card when it was dropped off. When I dropped it off had to stand in line for 15 minutes while watching agents on the phone as the line got longer. will never request to drop vehicle off at this location. read more

I made the appointment through my insurance company, so I cannot speak to that process when dealing directly with Safelite, but they communicated incredibly well with me throughout the day. I chose the 12:00-5:00 service window, but they called me around 11:30 to narrow the window down to 3:00-5:00 which I appreciated. They also emailed me to confirm my appointment, and also to let me know who my technician would be (including his picture). I also received a text message when he was on the way to my location (I chose to have them come to me vs going to their shop location). Conner explained to me the process and the risks (although minimal, I appreciated the honesty) of making the windshield repair. Ours had a fairly small ding from a rock hitting us on the interstate. Conner was professional and got to work immediately. The repair looked great! Almost unnoticeable now! Took less than 20 minutes. This service was covered by my insurance so I did not have to pay SafeLite directly. They handled all the paperwork with my insurance company, but did send me a "receipt" for the work done. They called later to inform me that they had the wrong windshield so i rescheduled with the assurance that they would have the correct windshield. The local office is disorganized. You cannot reach them by phone. You are forced to call the national number. The 855 number told me my vehicle was ready 6 hours after I dropped it off. I arrived via Uber on assurances that it was ready and was told they just started the replacement and I'd have to wait for recalibration for another 1-2 hours. They destroyed my day waiting on the vehicle. Terrible customer service and process of getting this done. They don't really have any competition and it shows. If I could use another service I would. Update: they expedited the repair after I complained. The technician was very nice when he finished the job and he said "this happens several times per week"..."we have no idea why the 800 number tells customers jobs are completed". So maybe the national team will read this and change their process. Why not let the customer speak directly with the location doing the work??? read more

A bad weekend turned into a terrible Monday, Safelite made sure of it. The front glass of my vehicle was vandalized Sunday afternoon. The insurance company steered me to Safelite. Speaking with the Safelite salesman, he said that they could schedule me for 1pm. I agreed and arrived at 12:55pm. I had stated during the entire process that I had to leave by 2:45 pm. At 1:05 pm I witnessed the first glass technician slowly arrive back from lunch. It was 1:12 before another one arrived. Yet, no one had come to collect my keys. At 1:21 another worker leisurely strolled in from lunch. Now, I was aggravated. At 1:30, the office "manager" told me that they couldn't do it that day and wanted me to reschedule. She told me they were all booked up and the crappy manager co-signed, only for me to call their Regional number and be told how free they actually were and that they had another appointment the same day less than THREE HOURS LATER! In fact they had MULTIPLE OPENINGS! I wouldn't be as upset about this "fib" if I hadn't expressed how difficult it would be for me to reschedule for a week day and she literally had NO KINDNESS to just say "you'll be waiting hours but we can get you at whatever time". First the negative: After getting two significant windshield chips in two days, I called the local 205 phone number to ask if an appointment time was available for today (July 24th). Unfortunately, I was connected to a nationwide exchange and had to play 20 questions before this information was provided. I understand that much of this information is necessary, but it would be nice to FIRST FIND OUT IF AN APPOINTMENT WAS AVAILABLE! Grr! Now the positives: 1. Very nice waiting room with many amenities provided at no cost. 2. Very friendly and helpful staff members. 3. Outstanding, professional job of repairing the windshield chips at a very reasonable price. (which was covered by my State Farm policy) 4. In and out in 1 hour. In conclusion, I understand that Safelite has to have a national answering and screening process. BUT, this could be improved by answering a few basic customer questions prior to the grilling.
