I would not recommend this place, I went to get Lexus ES bumper replacement and not happy at all. First time they installed the defective bumper, paint and color didn't match so they agreed to replace the bumper. Well, it took them forever to get another bumper and still it wasn't a quality work nor a bumper, I was told that's how it comes so I have no choice but to except it. I was just tired of keep going back to that place. Lesson to learn, never again. I would say GM Ed was very professional though Under writer, she was nothing but (I'll leave it) xxxxxx, she was kept forcing me to accept car the way it was, very unprofessional. The windshield of my car cracked (actually started as a blemish like tiny crack and progressed to large star-like crack across). I didn't understand why until friends told me that's hail damage this spring, which is evident as the car also has small dents on the roof and hood if one looks at them carefully. We never experienced or filed hail claims before and this year is all but unusual with hail activities. Since Gerber is listed in my insurer's preferred list I went there. They offered no assurance how they will work with our insurance company to make sure we are taken care of. Neither do they want to give even verbal estimations for us to understand the options. They just want to book the sale and collect the money. When I have questions, their manager (Mike, in his military outfit) even questioned whether I'm sure that the damage to the windshield and other body parts were from the exact same single event, implying a deep hostility, mistrust, and condescension. Honestly I later told my insurer's claim associate and she was not bothered with such kind of silly mistrust -- I never filed such claims and never filed any claims, be it storm or basement. If it is not some thing I'm not sure that's worthwhile and is insurer's responsibility. If this Mike thinks holding hands of customer is wasting of his or his staff's time, for sure customer will go elsewhere. His technician won't spend time on customer's car to make sure it would be an excellent job either. So I have to cancel the verbal appointment they tried to push and give the business to somewhere else that has care, etiquette, and trust in customers. As a side note, their tiny parking lot is full of cars and their offices / cubes are full of junk, I didn't peek into their work floor... I feel pitiful for the people having to put up this kind of environment and keep the business running. read more

From the beginning my experience with the team at Gerber was terrific. After filing a claim with American Family Insurance for hail damage to both of my cars, I received a call from Rachel at Gerber. She arranged the appointment, had Enterprise car rental waiting for us and the drop off took less than 10 minutes. Within 36 hours our cars were done. The manager Matt called to let us know the cars were ready and suggested a few items they could touch up for us which we accepted. We got the cars back and they look brand new. They even washed them! Phone call to arrange estimate to replace my side-view mirror: maybe 2 minutes Estimate itself: 20 minutes, including the offer to remove the dangling mirror altogether so it wouldn't bump against the door as I drove Part drop-off, since I'd bought it myself: 3 minutes, two of which were waiting in line behind a woman multitasking her Gerber business with some other business on her cell phone (paging Stephanie Tanner) Installation: 12 minutes, max - I had time to make a move in Words with Friends and not much more I can't speak to pricing for paint and labor because I have never had to replace a side-view mirror before and hope to never have to again. But I would go back to Gerber if lightning struck the same place twice. That's not to imply that lightning was responsible for the de-mirroring. It wasn't. read more

My car was hit overnight and my insurance company sent me to Gerber. As it wasn't my usual car service place, I was anxious to go, but ended up pleasantly surprised. Dana (the woman who does the estimates and handles the business) was amazing. She was super friendly and really knew what she was talking about. My estimate said the car would take 12 days to be fixed. However, I walked out with a brand spankin' new bumper and quarter panel in THREE days! They even washed my disgustingly dirty white car-inside and out. I highly recommend Gerber to everyone, they did an excellent job with my car, and the customer service was impeccable. Someone decided to leave a sizable dent in my less-than-one-year-old car (gotta love city parking) and since the paint wasn't scratched I thought I'd stop in to Gerber based on the reviews to have them see if they could bang it out. Well a mechanic named Ziggy took one look and offered to do it then and there. Ten minutes later they were done and no more dent! I go up to the counter and Rachel, who had initially helped me, said it was on the house! I was floored! What is this magical place? Truly fantastic service. As a victim of a hit-and-run -- I was understandably pretty concerned/frustrated upon arrival. Fabian in particular was very professional and helpful in assuring me that the damage which I thought was catastrophic was fairly routine and wouldn't be an issue for the techs. The guys did a great job on my car and even cleaned it up for me, which I didn't expect. As a result of some unknown battery issue (probably my fault), some of my car's features started acting out of sorts -- Fabian and his manager personally worked with me to get my car in ASAP and catered to MY schedule, for which I am very grateful. Furthermore the technician (forgot name, sorry) was willing to explain the issue to me at my level. 10/10 -- great people, great service. read more

I got sideswiped. Twice in a month. My Sienna's side view mirror needed replacing and the rear driver's side panel was scratched and scraped badly. I was originally told it would take over a week. Although I never look forward to going to a collision repair shop going to Gerber makes it pleasant to undo whatever damage has been done to your vehicle. They are very professional at this location - quick to give estimates and throughly explain what needs to be done and options you have. Today I had the side mirror on my SUV replaced because someone hit it as they passed my car when it was parket on the street. On Monday I got an estimate from Peter which took less than 10 minutes. I agreed to have the work done and he must have ordered the part right away because by Wednesday they received the mirror and finished painting it to match my vehicle. When I stopped in today they had it all done in 25 minutes while I waited. Robert the manager noticed the light was on because my windshield washer fluid was low which wasn't related to the mirror. He went above and beyond by having them fill the fluid up when they washed the car! Wow...I can drive safer now with my brand new side mirror and plenty of washer fluid to clean the windshield. I worked with Gerber when my insurance company referred me to them after a minor fender-bender. Dana, Rachel, and Kelvin did a wonderful job and were really great to work with. Dana processed the estimate and was extremely thorough. She has worked in this industry for a long time and is extremely reassuring and helpful. They kept me up-to-date the entire time and when they found a previously unnoticed issue, I got a call immediately. There were also some other dings on my car that they graciously buffed out/touched up. The work was done several days earlier than quoted and when I noticed a ding that had not been taken care of, they immediately fixed it. My car was sparkly clean to boot! First, they rummage through my car and stole a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. I had to go back three times to get the work done to my minimal satisfaction. There was overspray and tape residue of which they denied it was from the work they did. Do not use Gerber collision and glass. read more

Mann, I'm disappointed. About 5 years ago I got my car fixed and they gave me my car back within a week and a half. They have had my car since around 8/22 and here it is 9/20 and the said they still didn't get some of the parts for my car. They have had my car for a month now and every time I call it's something different. I will. It be going to them again just because they told me they talked to my Insurance and extended the rental but they taking 20+ dollars a day they thought I went through enterprise. I had a great experience with Gerber Auto on Greenbay Rd. I chose them b/c of an alliance an insurance company has with them. I had to change my appointment twice and they were accommodating. The estimator, George, was very friendly and assessed my car in the timeframe he said he would. He explained the damages and necessary repairs well. They got me in a week early and got done 2 days early. They arranged the rental car for me too. They also texted me throughout the process keeping me aware of the progress. The car looks brand new! I would give 0 stars if allowed. I am finally getting around to putting this review in place after almost a year. While attending Northwestern, my daughter's Rav4 was hit while parked in Evanston. Since Gerber was a nationally (we live in CO) State Farm certified repair center and the work is guaranteed we had the car repaired at this location. Work was finished in March as scheduled. My daughter thought it looked great and even noticed they chipped the left rear light casing which they promptly replaced the following weekend. Seeing it remotely via mobile phone, I thought it looked pretty good as well. We get to Evanston for my daughter's graduation in May. Go to clear out some stuff in the trunk to make room and there is 4 inches of water in the mini-trunk! I decide to deal with it when she gets the car back to Colorado. It just happens that the rear door on the other side was hit (don't ask) and so I took it to Caliber Collision to get that fixed. The right rear door was fixed, but they took a look at the Evanston repair because of the water that was in the trunk in May. I quote "Your car would have never left the shop in the condition this repair was done" and "We won't touch it". I take the car to Gerber here in Colorado and they agree to examine the repair and agree that the repair is not as required by the manufacturer and promised. On the original repair, the rear body panel was replaced but improperly spot welded to the car, it was not sealed when it was welded in place, the tire well rubber grommets were missing, the paint was bubbled around the left rear window, there was primer overspray on the roof, the paint was not blended into the rest of the car at the rear door frame, the rear carpet was moldy due to the water leaking in and there was rust build up on the interior frame. Gerber in CO replaced everything and did the repair correct. There was nothing they could do about the primer overspray on the roof which was sealed under the clear coat from the previous repair. That still bugs me. This whole process took from September until first week in November. Fortunately, we didn't need the car. This is outright fraud as the repair was paid for by State Farm and me and billed as within specifications and as required at the full price and clearly corners were cut. I would inspect any repair work beyond the surface quick look and make sure ALL the work promised was done. UPDATE: 2/13/2020 Michael, the new Manager of the Evanston Gerber location called me to see what they could do to make things right given the whole process noted above. He made all the arrangements in Colorado for me with the local office and we corrected the paint issue promptly with no problems and in a very timely manner. I can't say enough about Mike's efforts to "make things right" and amending my review that the location is under new management and if Mike is attentive to my needs one year after the repairs under previous management, I can imagine he has taken strides to make sure the Evanston location does quality work in a timely manner. read more

I just needed to repaint my bumper because I had a few MINOR scratches on it (I'm a little OCD, yes). I came in to ask them what the estimate would be, and the lady came out took one quick GLANCE. That's right GLANCE, and said it'll be $700-900. For painting a BUMPER!?!? Mind you, I don't drive a Mercedes - it's a Nissan 2014. Dana, was so nice to me and explained that American Honda would replace that for nothing. A recall that no one else told me about. I had it done through Honda and it cost nothing. Have had a few different experiences with Gerber. Just picked up my daughter's car -- that had teenage damage. Gerber fixed it for $48. And then buffed out some scratches and did a in/out cleaning. My experience with Gerber for a windshield repair was absolutely horrible. I called and scheduled a morning appointment, in which the technician would arrive between 8am and noon. I was told that the technician would call that morning to give an estimated time of arrival. That call never came. When I called for the estimate, I was told between noon and 2pm and that the FOUR hour window is NOT a guaranteed time frame. Nothing could be done to get the technician to my home within the initial time frame. The dispatcher blamed the initial representative for improperly guaranteeing a 4 hour morning window. Around 11:30 I get a call for the technician saying that it was too cold outside and that I needed to bring my car to a shop to be repaired. When I schedule the appointment Gerber knew what the weather would be like the next day. Why was this guy waiting until the end of my I had to spend at least 15 minutes on the phone with various Gerber employees (because no one wanted to take responsibility) before I could get this issue resolved. A "manager" arranged for the technician to still come to my home to repair my windshield and told me that he would call to confirm the time. This call never came. The technician didn't call until he was outside my home at 12:20. He actually repaired my windshield so I guess he deserves one star. However, he left materials in my car and on the street. I was not given a receipt nor any documents regarding the replacement glass. As I result, I would only recommend Gerber to someone who: 1. Can sit at home and wait all day for someone to arrive (and then wait at least 2 additional hours for the repair to be made and the glass to cure) because Gerber will overbook and won't honor the time frames even if it means that your child will be stranded after school because your car is not safe to drive. 2. Can spend time on the phone trying to find a responsible person when the technician decides he doesn't want to come to your home anymore because it is actually cold in Evanston in February. 3. Doesn't want/need a receipt of your transaction. 4. Wants to clean up your car and street after the technician leaves. read more

Highly professional and fast service. I came to Gerber to fix a smashed tail light. They were extremely responsive and charged me only the cost of the part plus $10 for labor, a very fair price. It took their mechanics 5 minutes to pop out the old housing and replace it with the new one. read more

Frankly I had no idea what to expect, because I had always used my usual repair shop in Wilmette in the past. Well, from the moment I walked in, I was treated to a very high level of attention and customer service. A fellow named George took care of me from start to finish. He was a consummate professional in both explaining the repairs that were needed and following up with me through the process. More importantly, repairs were done to perfection. Gerber fixed our car after a minor accident. They worked with our insurance, the work was done quickly, it was a positive experience. I stopped there today after noticing someone hit out Honda CRV and detached the bumper. Dana greeted me, was friendly, took a look, and said it was a simple fix. She had one of the guys reattach it with some special screw, and I was on my way, 10 minutes later! So great! These guys (and gals) are now officially my auto body shop! read more
