I went here for a windshield repair, but considering the temps being less than teens since it's winter, I was skeptical in general. Not necessarily a really nice place, like the dealerships where it's comfortable with fake leather seating and choices of fresh brewed coffee by machines, but there were plenty of seats, though a lot of customers (was 3-4pm) but the guy I was greeted with was very helpful in every way - no BS Anna's to the point. This is not the Beverly Hills Rolls Royce dealership, it's a windshield repair and replacement shop! My chip and small crack was deemed to be very minor and he recommended that I don't do the repair as it could last a month or the lifetime of the car. Since I have coverage, he said that if needed, windshield replacement is covered by insurance so just schedule another appointment later when needed. But if I really wanted to, I could still do the repair and or replacement. I decided against the repair and will come back later per his suggestion, which saved me time and maybe some money too. Since I got great advice and saved allot of time, I'm more than happy on the 4 stars. And will come back when I am back in the area and need to do windshield work on my car. Also, since it is wintertime right now, service at your site might be iffy due to weather and availability (there were allot of customers at this location, and it's winter). Had a work order put in this morning, received confirmation and a copy of the work order and a tech never showed. I called the store and was assured a tech would still be out even if it was after the window of time they gave me. Ok- cool. No problem. Then the Rep put me on hold to get ahold of the tech only to get back on the line and tell me a tech was never sent out for my work order and it's now too late in the day to have someone come out. Service was completed in under 90 minutes and was given the opportunity to go over the work before I left. This has been one of the worst experiences with a business I have ever had. We scheduled to have the windshield replaced on my son's car and he drove it over after school and spent several hours there for them to tell him that the replacement glass had a scratch on it and they couldn't do it that day. so we set up another appointment for today at 11 AM and they didn't even get started on it until almost 2. He had no way of getting anywhere and has already been sitting there for hours each time we've talked to someone on the phone they have been extremely rude. You would think since we had to reschedule and come back another day due to their error they would have started on the windshield as soon as we dropped it off. Invoice number 05587-375250, Technician 01807-726. I ordered replacement glass and wipers. The glass was done but had fingerprints on it. I noticed the wipers were obviously not changed, weathered and streaky. I confirmed this with my security cameras. However, I did see the installer snooping around my garage. I had the oil changed the next day and they offered to change the wipers because of their condition, yes I have that invoice with the denial of the wipers at the dealer. I called safelite who transferred me to the store. I spoke with someone, claiming to be the manager, who advised he would refund the price of the wipers and disposal fee totaling $120. I told him about the snooping, he said he wanted the videos and would send me a text with his email address. Nearly three weeks later and no text / email. I ordered wipers for $40 and installed them myself, same price a one wiper from safelite. read more

I have a newer car with a lot of the bells and whistles that make windshield repair ridiculously expensive (and result in me sounding incredibly un-tech savvy in the rest of this review). The tech ran an initial calibration on my car to ensure everything would go smoothly during and after the repairs, ie all my front cameras, radars, whatever would work as they should. Something gave the tech a red flag and he brought me back to explain the issue and my options. He recommended using the name brand windshield instead of the aftermarket one to reduce the likelihood of errors and Toyota trying to void my warranty. Since I was running this through my insurance and still paying quite a bit with my deductible, of course I wanted the Toyota brand windshield! I ended up having to reschedule my appointment so they could order the correct part, but they also pushed the windshield upgrade through my insurance so I didn't have to do a thing except bring the car back. The repair was done in half the time the estimated, and they even gave me sticky pads for my IPass unit (which I didn't have before). Overall very pleased and will recommended! read more

I took my BMW to Safelite with a 9:30 AM appointment to have my windshield replaced. The website states that it takes 1-1/2 to 2 hours to complete the replacement. The manager tells me it could be all day, much to my dismay. I decided to leave it anyway. 15 Minutes after I left the vehicle I get a call from the manager stating they could not do the work as the did not have the seal required to replace the glass nor could they get it, i would have to go to the manufacturer of the car. They knew the make and model and year of my car. You would think that they would know that they need the seal to do the job. What a waste of time and effort to get a simple task completed. I had an appointment to have a window replaced between 12:00pm-5:00pm, after waiting 8 days to get on the schedule. I received at least 7 emails and text messages in the days up to my appointment making sure I was ready, with a list of all their requirements. The morning of the appointment I was sent an email with my installer's name, telling me they would be here to do the work. After not hearing anything else and waiting until 3:30pm I made a call to get an update on the time frame he would be arriving. After a 23-minute time on hold I had a woman get on the phone to tell me that they would not be coming as the window would not be in stock for another 8 days. When I asked why nobody called to let me know, she explained that they just found out minutes before I called. How was the tech ever coming without a replacement window on his truck? I had an appointment about 1-2 months ago to replace my windshield and recalibration. As I'm cleaning my car and getting it ready for a 4.5 hour road trip, I discovered that the cover to my rear view mirror sensors are not only falling off, but the clips are broken in various areas so I can't even put it back on. Very dissatisfied and incredibly disappointed I scheduled an appointment for them to come out to fix this issue for tomorrow/Friday and will be more than happy to update this poor review if the issue is resolved. Their hours are 8-5 and most people work those hours as well which makes it very hard and inconvenient to just drop their vehicle off for repair. **Update 6/7/21** I went back in to have the new parts installed on 5/29/21. The tech told me the parts still did not fit because the windshield wasn't set high enough. He ordered a new windshield in the event that the windshield shattered upon removal. Scheduled appointment for 6/5/21 for windshield, part installation and recalibration. Went back a 3rd timeout 6/5/22 to have the new parts installed, windshield reset & recalibration. The tech said everything looked great and was back to normal. When I picked up my car he showed me what they did and then I look at the parts installed and it is bulging and still did not clearly fit properly. The tech said maybe if it was and OEM windshield that the parts would fit better. I'm now wondering why they wouldn't have suggested that in the 1st place or told me that I was required to request an OEM windshield. I said you do realize that I will now have to bring my car in for a 4th time to have this fixed and he said "well it would be our 4th time too." I said it's your job/profession. It should've been done right the first time. Said he would speak with the manager - Renzo about getting this fixed. I called my insurance claims department and will now have to reopen my claim to have this fixed the right way without broken parts or an improperly set windshield with a different company. I don't even know where to begin with the unprofessionalism that I experienced with Safelite of Naperville over this past month. I contacted Safelite after noticing a crack in my windshield and told the customer service agent the approximate size of the crack (about the size of a dollar). On the morning of my appointment, I received a call from the technician that he was on the way to repair the "chip" in my windshield. I told him it was much more than a "chip" and that the windshield would need to be replaced. He did not cancel my appointment right then on the phone and still proceeded to drive out to meet me, just to tell me that the windshield couldn't be repaired and would need to be replaced when he got there. This is what I had told the person who scheduled my appointment and him on the phone, resulting in a complete waste of both my time and the technician's. One week later, on the morning of the rescheduled appointment, I got a call from Brad of Safelite Naperville letting me know that when he was loading up for the morning he noticed that the glass that was ordered for my vehicle was damaged and they would need to reschedule. How could they not check this at the very least the day beforehand? I was told a manager would be giving me a call regarding rescheduling. No one has reached out since. I had to take off two days of work for these appointments and also drove out to the suburbs both days to meet at a family member's home (I live in the city and my parking garage is too cramped). I brought my car for the standard windshield repair. Our family has a very busy work schedule so it was easy to arrange a time. I picked up the car after hours and I looked over the work there were parts missing and the rubber piece on the top of the window was not put on correctly. When I returned to talk to them about it I was told that that is normal and will go away and they would order the pins . Well none of that has happened and my car still looks like this. First appointment was changed at the last minute since they did not have the replacement part and when we came in for the reschedule we were sent to car dealership to have codes cleared from our vehicle for $180+ that was not covered in order for them to complete the windshield recalibration. Then come to find out they had not ordered the OEM glass as needed for our vehicle due to the windshield calibration. Was told they would need to order the new windshield and even then we might have to have codes cleared again (another $180+) and time wasted. Went to Crest Hill location and no such issues. I scheduled in minutes, from my phone, and got in the next day! When I arrived, I was greeted warmly and offered coffee/water/etc., and everyone present was wearing masks. They were prepared for me to arrive and got to working on my car right at the time my appointment was scheduled. I didn't have anywhere to go so I waited in the lobby area that was nice and warm, had coffee & water as I said, tv on, and easy access to a spotless bathroom. Just had them repair a rock chip in my car's windshield. Repair work was fine but the amount of phone calls, followups, scheduling and payment processing was a nightmare and borish. Then the Naperville manager wanted me to do THEIR administrative follow up with State Farm to effect payment, even though I had given them everything I knew BEFORE the work was ever done. I instructed THEM to call my State Farm agent if additional info was needed. He threatened to send my bill to collections and I told him to stick the bill where the sun doesn't shine. (I'm long since retired and could care less about credit impact since I'll never buy anything on credit in my remaining days on this earth.). After my girlfriend recently had her windshield replaced here I am NOT satisfied with the service whatsoever. I was just looking over her windshield after she reported that her wipers were making a funny noise. Let's let the list begin: The seals on either A-pillar were not installed correctly as in NOT EVEN CLOSE. After opening the hood I found the remnants of many plastic fasteners for the different shrouds all throughout the engine bay indicating that they were not removed properly and also not re-installed. For a company with a multi-million dollar ad campaign advertising how easy it is to have them replace your windshield, this company was VERY hard to work with. They'll send a truck to your location to replace your windshield at your convenience?....um, no, they can't service my particular model from their mobile service. They have a nearby convenient location?... but it's only open 8 am to 5 pm. This is the 21st century. I don't have a stay at home wife who can run this errand for me. I AM the wife, and I work. By 8 am I'm 30 miles away and dialing into my second conference call of the day. Can I drop it off the night before? Most auto service companies are set up to do this. The woman at the national call center assured me it could be done; she'd leave a note on my appointment record to alert the local shop.... But when I arrived late at night at the location, there is no key drop or instructions on how to leave your car. Sorry, I am not leaving my car unlocked, with the key in it, in a parking lot and somehow hoping it will all be ok. So I went online and rescheduled my appointment for another location in the next town over, 15 miles away, just because they had a Saturday appointment open. I got up early and drove there.... and they don't have the parts and can't do it. And throughout all this, the ongoing frustration is that there is NO phone number anywhere for the local shop. You can talk to the national call center, who don't have a clue about the local location. My windshield is still not replaced. read more
