This review is based on online pickup. Today was my first time and I'm hooked. Caught a deal on the app ( $45 off purchase of $75) thought why not. 2 hour estimated pickup was 20 minutes till I received message it was ready. Parked ,and on app gave my stall # ,everything was brought out and loaded into my trunk. I was notified that the safeway select chicken thighs were out of stock and offered a substition ,I declined, I knew it was a mistake, the safeway select is in a separate erea from the other chicken products, I was correct, I went ahead and went in to get my own. That being said it was simple human error and still the best grocery trip I've had. Not to mention how much I saved. read more

Megan watched the growing queue from customer service while chatting with a coworker. She was curt with me when I asked her to open a second register. She returned to talking with her coworker. The prices may be higher than a Winco or Walmart but the quality and selection of foods make it worth shopping here. I haven't met a grumpy employee yet and folks are generally friendlier in this little town than in Bremerton or Silverdale. I have always loved to bake lots of Christmas goodies but was a little frustrated, trying to get all ingredients in one place. After going to three other stores, I discovered that everything I needed was here all along! The other store in town didn't even have something as simple as a good assortment of flavorings called for in a lot of Christmas recipes. This is now our go-to grocery store in Belfair. read more

The Belfair Safeway has a good selection of pre-made and ready to-go sandwiches, salads, and other deli items. I stopped here to get something between a snack and a meal and found one of their half sandwiches did the job of filling me up to hold me over until dinner perfectly. This was a stop in mid afternoon with a dinner in the evening. Aisles and entrances were clearly marked with expectations and instructions for shopping and adhering to social distancing to reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19. Aside from the long pharmacy lines, I think this Safeway is gouging the customers with outlandish prices. I can drive 4 miles further and save so much more then when I shop at this store. It is close to where we live, however I only buy there as a last resort. read more

Called a cake order in to the bakery a few days before I needed to pick up. All I asked for was different flowers in various pink colors, and that they were free to use their artistic creativity. Another cake from the bakery department but this one TASTES LIKE METAL. A chocolate birthday cake that tastes like metal....and frosting. Is that scary, or what?!?! Finally some decent staffing in numbers, there's always people in Safeway garb goofing off outside the offices and out where they smoke. The flowers have a good selection and good balloon stuff. Probably the best in town for year round flowers and fluff... it's on the expensive side though. But after seeing the refrigerated items waiting and waiting to be stocked, the flies wrapped in the cellophane on the meats, having to watch expiration dates of stuff coming off the shelf???? I go to Belfair QFC over this Safeway, and every time I go to this Safeway I am reminded exactly why that is. They have a very limited selection of brands when it comes to a lot of their products. It's always Safeway Brand and only one other to choose from, so there is No Variety really. They also removed the "self check out" lanes recently and replaced them with "12 items or less" ... "Speedy Checkout" lanes that are always the longest line now. It went from 4 different check outs being available at any given time down to only 1 a majority of the time. read more

Today, I had a very embarrassing experience in the store. This was a first for me with the workers at Safeway because they treat me amazing when I enter the store. The ladies and gentleman, at the deli counter, not only help with a smile, but they interact professionally and are enjoyable to chat with while having orders completed. The staff which work the floors are always courteous and aid with questions. The cashiers I can always carry a conversation while sorting out my groceries. Today was not the case, I notice when I approached the self check out line that there were other customers waiting. To be courteous I sped along a little faster, and of course, and item of grocery did not scan, When I saw who was working, I knew I was going to get yelled at. I have seen this clerk tell other customers, "next time use the check out line!" as though the customer was wrong for not understanding something that is clearly his responsibility to help with "courteously." Of course, a second item did not scan and he got angry. I of course was trying to smile through the experience, then he proceeded to yell at me saying I was being impatient. I was just smiling watching him work. Of course, I responded back sir, "I'm the customer, the one frustrated and impatient here is you the worker!" I left the store shaking and embarrassed because people laughed who were there. When I arrived home I called the store manager who was amazing at helping with my questions. Secondly, I contacted the corporate office to aid in this matter. I wasnt going to write anything but if you come across this type of behavior please call the store. There team is awesome but "no one" should have to feel bullied or embarrassed. I hope this is helpful great place but no person should tolerate bad customer service at the level of embarrassing and making their customers feel bad. Lastly, here is an interesting observation, I was a Hispanic man, who had a problem with what clearly was a store error (the barcodes not working) and I get yelled at. Can you explain to me why the Caucasian guy who simultaneously had the same problem with the bar code, you didnt yell at him. You treated him kindly? Is that proper customer service? read more
