I stop at Red Apple on my way home, probably 3 days a week. I'm not sure what is going on with the cashiers, but some of them need a serious lesson in customer service!! Tonight, a blond, younger person "helped" me. I said hello, she said nothing, I said that I didn't need a bag, she said nothing, I said have a nice night, Thankyou..you guessed it, she said nothing! This is not the first time she has been rude. I'm spending my money at your store, I'm a loyal customer of 40 years, and this is how I'm treated! I have had it! It's insulting!! read more

Ralph's Red Apple Market seems like your typical small town grocery store. I have been here twice now. I have been in contact with a craft beer brewer in Bremerton and he is production only and does not have his own taproom. During our communication I asked where his bottled beer could best be obtained. He said the most reliable place was to go to Ralph's Red Apple Market. He does have other locations that carry his beer but you have to be there at the right time. This small, local brewery is named Smitty's Brewing. There are about nine different kinds of Smitty's bottled beer here. So far I have tried four and fell in love with his beer and made a special trip out of Tacoma to come back here and try the remaining five bottled beers. Where the beer is located was slightly tricky for us the first time around. We found the liquor section quickly but Smitty's is not in the refrigerated section with the rest of the beer. If you head to that section and simply turn around you will see that they have their own little rack of Smitty's. It would be in about the same proximity of a "sidecap" but in a technical way it isn't actually a side cap but a rack. If my directions are too confusing with this be sure and ask someone and they can point it out to you. When I was here I also did some basic grocery shopping for a few things. Normally in a grocery store I don't know very well I wonder the aisles for a while looking for what I need. In this case at Ralph's I found everything I needed quickly with virtually no trial and error wondering in the slightest. I'm not too sure if that's beginner's luck on my part with an unfamiliar store or if the lay out is easy to comprehend to find what you need. Maybe a little bit of both. The cashiers here are very nice and if you buy more than four of Smitty's bottled beer you can a discount on the 5th bottle. Pretty cool! A well stocked independent grocery nearly as large as a chain supermarket, with fairly decent prices (no higher than QFC anyway), can meet most grocery shopping needs. Latte stand at the door. Hot table of instant eats in the back, and ready-made sandwiches. Great pastry section. Super-discount stuff is usually past its date but I only once ever got something that shouldn't've been sold at all and that was years ago. Some of the most gigantic supermarkets wear me out after such a long walk and feel oppressive, but this one's actually comfortable to shove one's basket through, big enough store but not so big it overwhelms. I see by other yelpers that there is sometimes a problem with attitude. I've never seen that. I don't interact with staff and managers a lot, just do my shopping, and it all goes smooth and friendly. Maybe if I was rude to someone they'd be rude back and I'd feel like they weren't sufficiently "customer is always right even when they're not" people. I just don't know what to make of the complaints. But even these whiners don't say it's not a good well stocked market. (If they ever are rude to me for no good reason I'll come back here and let y'all know!) I also like the restaurant next door which is also called Red Apple. read more

Great neighborhood market! It is always amazing what the carry. They carry Muscat Grapes in season when only the Central Market carried them in the county. There meat department is superior - especially when they have their "truckload of meat sale" There salad bar and Deli are great. the fried chicken is excellent, the salad bar well stocked and clean. The soda fountain in the back of the store is a nice touch. There espresso stand and bakery are quite popular in the area. They are an easy walk and a nice destination from the Kitsap Lake area. read more

This store sucks. Their prices are way too high and they refuse to accept Internet coupons of any form. I am an avid couponer and I know better than to try to rip off any company by using invalid coupons. A blanket "no Internet coupon" policy is bad business. The store's selection is mediocre at best. The employees are rude and apathetic. I've lived near this store for over a year and I keep trying to give them a fair shot but every time I leave I am disappointed and angry. Save yourself the frustration and drive the extra few miles to Safeway or Albertsons. read more

This little neighborhood store is ultra convenient and everyone is almost ALWAYS so friendly. Its like going to your neighbors house... Comfortable and friendly. Sure.. it could be fancied up but the quik in and out with no waiting in a long line is so convenient , stressfree and well worth a few extra pennies. The sales are good and the choices are great, with a descent easy to find wine area, local brews, cheese, fresh cut meat & organics & desserts. The walk up hot food & to go deli with an excellent salad bar always offers "immediate" attention with a smile. Same with the espresso stand. I have seen a few of the below reviews..most being possitve. I just want to apologize to the hard working crew for the people who find it necessary to air out their bad day or attitude on media. I see Ashlyns yelps are all negative wherever she goes. Yelp really has a negative side to it and its usually the ungreatful demanding people who dont understand people. Interesting they discriminated against me for having health issues and being unable to wear a mask. The lady who scolded me and kicked me out didn't even have a mask on! She had a face shield which is not even in compliance with the governor's order. I had a legitimate exemption provided for by the governor!! Unreal! And then my wife went there and a cashier said they call people without a mask Covid idiots!! I wish these people could see what it's like to be discriminated against for having legitimate health concerns. You lost a long time customer for good. The previous owners were so much better people and are longtime friends of our family. The store has really gone down hill now. Totally unprofessional. read more

I typically support small business so I walked into this place. I like that they offer warm ready-to-eat food with a salad bar. They have a small area of organic veggies. The prices are too high compared to local grocery stores and im not sure why. What I do like is the muffin tops that they do offer at the front for a much more affordable price compared to the coffee stops. read more

This store is just a Classic Grocery Store! Many departments that include fresh produce, a great deli with hot foods and tasty soups, a fresh meat department with butchers on hand to help with custom cuts, many unique gift items and best of all a KILLER craft beer selection as well as some great new liquors in their service center near the front end! I really enjoy the personal service that comes from a mid size to small grocery store like this one. When I go to a big box store I don't feel the love I get when I go to Ralph's Red Apple. I like being greeted by name when I walk in the front door. Once in the store I am greeted when I pass through every department. I've used the deli for everything from a quick sandwich to catering large family events. I love talking with the meat department manage about meat and seafood. Casey will always recommend a marinade or spice for something I buy. I've ordered many specialty customer orders from him and value, quality and service has always been top notch. I am working in the area and visit the Red Apple for a sandwich almost every day. I have tried almost every sandwich on their menu and have never been disappointed. The ladies that work the deli/sandwich bar are spot on, enjoyable to talk to and make the best sandwich you can get for $4.99. These sandwiches are so big that I usually order a whole and it lasts me throughout the day and sometimes dinner. Their "Flintstone" bread is made in house and is awesome! No wonder why there isn't a Subway around, because they could never compete! Well done! read more

I live near this store and sometimes go there to by chicken backs for my dog. I've been patronizing this store for 10 years and when I tell you that their customer service SUCKS!!!.. I mean it. Yes the store is OVER priced. The building is very old and has a very unpleasant smell when you walk in. Sometimes the cashiers will speak, but most times they won't. The Butcher is very rude and does not speak(not to mention how many times I've had to take meat and fish back because once I opened it, it REEKED. The managers will stand right near you and stock shelves, look in your face,and will not speak. The ladies in the Deli, will not speak. I had ONE lady... ONE!! in 10 yrs that has spoken to me from the Deli. When I told her that she was the first and only one to speak to me in yrs, she seemed really sad and apologetic.. but she's no longer there. NO ONE in this place has Customer Service skills. Now I'm really angry because the QFC up the street where I shop most is going to be closing next month..... I know one thing, the money that I spend at QFC will definitely not be going to this store. read more

I am a frequent Red Apple shopper. There are no two ways about it. The sun will shine, the winds will blow, and I will shop at Red Apple until I move far enough away for it not to be feasible. You may be wondering, "But yelp reviewer, everyone else says this place is unfriendly and overpriced" oh ho ho ho, yes they are overpriced, but everyone says hi to me. The guy in the produce section said hi every time he saw me for the longest time, a couple of the baristas know my order and how to make it perfect, one of the cashiers saw how I would get a bunch of individual bottles of Dry Soda for my wedding and offered to order in bulk for me. What else is good, you wonder, as you look at the lone positive review? Well, the donuts are significantly better than safe ways (kind of like everywhere, I admit), they have some yummy carmel scones I've never seen anywhere else, they also have little customer in training kid sized shopping cards (I've been going here so long, I've used those carts), and I find the local aspect really appealing.
