I ordered 5 bags of Fresh Pet cat food for my picky eater that will not eat canned wet food. I had a virus and could not get out of town to shop. I looked online and ordered from Safeway in Dixon, Ca. My cat absolutely wasn't eating it. Every morning I would find dried up uneaten food. I discovered the food was spoiled. I threw the remaining bags away. I called Dixon Safeway only to be told I had to call Corporate. They told me Zi would be refunded the $64.00 I spent, that never happened I was told the second time by , Corporate to contact the local Safeway I've never heard back from them. They essentially stole ,$64.00 and sold me spoiled food. What if my cat had gotten sick,,? What has happened to customer service? I don't shop there, I live in Winters and do not go to Dixon. At this point , I furious with Safeway, Corporate and Fresh Pet for not making this good. I loved the convenience of ordering online, but I won't do this again.. read more

I have lived in Dixon since 2001. Safeway has always been my go-to grocery store. I love going in and knowing the cashiers and seeing friends while I'm shopping. The cashiers are always friendly and attentive to me. Even though it is part of a corporation, there is still the small town-feel to the store. While I don't often buy groceries at full price here, their sale prices are worth not driving across town to Walmart. read more

They need work on food safety every time I go to deli to get sandwiches they never change their gloves. They use same gloves to make sandwiches even watching them grabbing stuff out of freezer, moving boxes, or utensils. They grab the meat and and sticking their hand and veggies with same gloves they don't put on a pair new ones read more

I have lived in Dixon, CA and shopped at Safeway for over twenty years. So, you can imagine my joy and relief for their new delivery service. But, there is a problem escalating with the Shoppers /Packers for online orders checking for quality control. For example, I have received rotten cantaloupe, expired cream, and just yesterday's delivery arrived with expired and molded cheese. I order groceries to be delivered to my house frequently, and more than once, I have experienced either expired, molded, and rotten items. I have limited mobility and really enjoy the new delivery service. So, please make sure the people shopping/packing the groceries pay better attention to the freshness of the food being delivered. read more

I love shopping at Safeway but I will NEVER order home delivery again. They have no control over their delivery service. I placed an order to be delivered between 3pm and 5pm. My order was ready before 3pm. The time is 4:18pm and I'm still waiting for the driver to come to Safeway so my order can be delivered. My order finally arrived at 4:50pm. Is this the most filthy Safeway in California? Right next to the bakery and pharmacy are the two restrooms. I shop here about 2-3 times a month (I've stopped now). The bathrooms are always the worst with no care or cleaning. Safeway overall isn't a quality market chain. Poorly managed and intentionally overcharging its customer base but the restrooms are inexcusable next to food and medicine. Foods such as diary are often EXPIRED per dates and not rotated. I stopped by the Safeway because I had to charge my Tesla and we're moving across the state. Once I walk through Safeway, a cashier was really friendly as she guided me in the correct direction I needed to go after that the kids and I grabbed a snack to eat as we continue our Road trip. At self check out a cashier named Stuart was very kind and generous, and his customer service was on point. I felt bad because I was in a hurry and he was trying to do a price match because I saw a different price and I only had a certain amount at that point to have spent on the kids, but instead of price matching he ended up paying for our snacks and I just really want to give a shout out to him. *** This is more of a tip than a review*** I live by the Mayfair fairgrounds/ Dixon HS so I'm not too far from Safeway. I went to pick up my cake which was ready and sitting out on the baking rack, waiting to be boxed. If you order a buttercream frosted cake and the weather is above 80*, bring a cooler or something to put the cake in on the ride home because blasting A/C and pointing all vents towards the passenger seat will not help. Unfortunately, the $27.99 cake did not survive the 10 minute ride home. I decided to "just go with it" because what else could I have done at this point? Would refrigerating it have let the frosting stiffen up more before pick up? Maybe. The cake was beautiful when I initially saw it. Although the cake wasn't aesthetically pleasing after the ride home, the taste was still on point. Overall, the store is clean and the customer service has been professional. There's barely any fresh seafood in the meat department- most of the seafood can be found in the freezer section. Sometimes, stock can be hit or miss but I consider that more of a supply chain / availability issue. read more

Went here to get a bouquet. Picked some flowers off the shelf thinking that would be an easier way to describe what I wanted. Asked the florist to put the flowers together with some baby's breath as one bigger bouquet. She got out a calculator and started adding up the prices of the individual flowers I had picked out ($30), then said she "thinks" she's "supposed to double it for the labor" and "it's also extra for baby's breath but I don't know how much." So she guessed she could put together $30 worth of flowers for me for about $70. What??? Super dishonest, rude, and unhelpful. For the last couple years, I've had issues with advertised discounts not working at the register and many of the cashiers treat me like it's my fault when I bring up discrepancies and ask them to be corrected. read more

I went in to Safeway to buy flowers for my mom to take to VA cemetery as I have done many times before. I usually spend about 17-20$ for bouquet. There were no signs posted with the cost of the bouquet and I assumed it would be appx. the same. I went to check out and was shocked to see it cost 48.00$ I went back to floral department because I was sure that was wrong. There were 3 people working only one who was doing and they said price was right and they were too busy to post price. I had already had stems trimmed so I could not get a refund. I was livid!!! This review is for the incompetent management, not the store itself. I've been to this store many times and had no issues until now, thus an extra star. On Tuesday 4/25/2023 I put $20 into the CA Lottery Machine located at this store. First I pressed the $5 Poker scratcher on the touch screen, but the ticket did not come out. Figured these tickets were sold out, so I pressed another $5 scratcher and nothing came out again. Thinking that the third time was the charm, I pressed for a different ticket and got one $5 scratcher. Assuming I still have $15 left, I tried going for a different scratcher, only to be notified I have only $5 left. So in case you are not following; I was charged for the tickets I did not get. At that point, I went to the register and asked someone to come help with the machine malfunction. A younger gentleman came out a few minutes later and had a hard time understanding what I was trying to explain to him. The machine charged $10 for tickets I did not get. It should really not be hard to comprehend. He kept on telling me how I only have $5 left and that's all he could refund. Finally, after explaining for 5th time, he seemed to get it and said he would talk to someone and told me to wait there by the machine. 15 minutes (!) later, he comes out with someone (who I presume would be his supervisor) and they both start explaining that I only have $5 left and that they will give me back $5, but a person who handles the lottery is not there and how she will call me the next day. They asked me to write my name and number on Post-It (LOL), and Shanice (sorry if I didn't get the name right) will call me on Wednesday. Reluctantly, I took my $5 leftover and gave them the benefit of the doubt. 5 days later, no one reached out-as suspected. Since neither of the two staff I dealt with left me their contact info or gave their names, there is no one I can turn to. The Safeway website does not list the store manager's email or phone number. I hate leaving bad reviews for local businesses, but this one left a bitter taste in my mouth. It is obvious that the customer does not come first here and the staff is in need of some serious training on how to handle situations like these. I will not go broke because of lost $10, but I will surely be more careful when using automated systems at this store from now on. read more

I love the personnel at this Safeway. They are always so friendly and helpful. Overall, the quality of the merchandise and selection is good. I want to give a head up to folks about the meat department, though. Take a look t this tri-tip. Hidden beneath the lovely red meat displayed under the cellophane was a whopping chunk of fat! I have shopped at Dixon Ca Safeway for 40 years. I will say that I have never met a bad employee! I would like to say tho that one of the newer young ladies is especially good. I have to share how disappointed I was with my experience at Safeway today. During checkout I asked the cashier if I could speak with someone regarding all the buy 2 get 3 free type of "deals", as I find it frustrating having to spend more to save money, and find places to store it all in my home. Heidi, the front end manager, was my cashier. She told me there was nothing she could do. I told her I understand, and still wanted to know who I could talk to. Heidi told me to call the customer service number on the bottom of the receipt. The more we talk, the louder she gets. We get to the point where I punch in my phone number and pay, and there is a survey on the screen. I give it a zero, as I honestly cannot recommend anyone shop at this store. Heidi then proceeds to announce to everyone that I gave a zero and that will bring down the stores score and affect everyone. As I was leaving she said, maybe next time I can make you happy and give you some better prices. I don't understand how asking a simple and fair question can get such an unkind and uncaring response from a customer service lead. I don't expect anyone to be treated with such rudeness and certainly won't let this go without letting people know how poorly the staff treat their customers! read more

People here are genuinely nice and the bathrooms are super clean! Per usual, this Safeway also partners with Wells Fargo for your banking needs. I like how people are working hard to keep this place tidy. But if there's nothing left to do - don't feel pressured to "pretend" to work. Breaks are necessary for efficiency. read more

I just tried to buy a 16 piece fried chicken. After waiting 5 minutes, (one person was getting a sandwich) a woman finally came out of the back to "help" me. She said there wasn't enough. I asked what that means. She ignored me and proceeded to add roasted chicken to the bucket. Then she put 8 pieces of thighs and no breasts in the bucket. I told her of her mistake. She said there weren't any breast despite there clearly being at least 6 right in front of me next to the glass. She insisted those were thighs despite them being twice the size of the thighs she put in the bucket. I told her to forget it and left the store without doing the other shopping I planned. Why would I pay more at Safeway to be treated like crap by their employees? Now I understand why this Safeway always looks empty. I'm going to Walmart. read more

I'm only complaining about the lack of customer service I received from a cashier named Kira that checked me out today when I visited the store. When it was my turn for Kira to ring me out, she didn't greet me and she didn't seem very friendly. The young lady that bagged my groceries was very friendly and I only wish I could have gotten her name to say thank you. When Kira completed my transaction, I thanked her and the nice young lady for for the service given and Kira said nothing to me yet again but the young lady thanked me and wished me a happy weekend. I've complained about this deli before because of the way one of the employees treated us. This one is because I can't believe that this rude,rude lady still works here!! Luckily for my husband and I we had one of the younger kids helping us but while waiting for our lunch meat one poor lady got treated so rudely by the older short lady!! The rude one had just gotten off work and was standing outside the deli near us and a lady walked up to her and asked " do you have this " and the rude one didn't even look at her and said very rudely " I'm off". A great place to have curbside pickup if you want expired food. A recent order had not one but two items that had expired. One that day and one that was over a week old. Trying to reach a human that gives a @#%@ about the quality of their customer service is another not fun experience. This is a nice store. Good selection and good prices. If you are local and join, there are a lot of bargains to be had. Pleasant shopping experience with friendly and helpful people. Good deli and bakery and wide choices in produce. Conveniently located for the community and in a small strip mall with other useful businesses. I like it very much. This review is strictly for the Deli department. I have been going to this grocery store since 2017, the staff has been great but the deli staff. First, it was one lady who would ignore you for a good 10-20 mins. before helping, I figured it was because she was short-staffed. After my other encounters and listening to my mother's encounters and now seeing from my own eyes I see that the older ladies in the deli have a problem with colored people. I've written two yelp reviews in my life. Only when I'm disappointed beyond words. I literally just got a sandwich there ... 1) I cannot believe how long it takes them to greet the customer and to make a damn sandwich. 2) the sandwich was so sloppily put together ...it shows extreme lack of care. Maybe this place needs new management? When I went to eat the sandwich ... she had drowned it in mayo and didn't bother to wrap in clean paper so mayo was smeared across the whole outer part of the sandwich when she rolled it up.
