It's Saturday evening 6pm. The store is crowded obviously do to the time, but that doesn't stop Safeway from only running just 2 registers with lines literally down the isles. After 25 minutes in line about 3 of us asked to speak with a manager on duty to address the problem with no staff. We were told no manager was available. How does Safeway think they can charge the crazy prices they do and have Zero customer service. I want the manager fired and some big wigs from corporate to take a look at this ongoing problem with Safeway in Dublin,Ca. This is continuously the worst Safeway in the Bay Area. My local spot for grocery shopping and it's gets the job done. The selection is vast and the pricing is decent to great. Customer service is good to above average imo. I would give it 5 stars but the wait line at checkout can be long and getting another cashier in to help out is a hit or miss at times. read more

Want the best deals in town? Shop where all the seniors go. The restaurants, shops and stores they frequent are sure to be value oriented. They know the difficulty of earning a dollar and have to make that social security check last till the end of the month. As they grace us in abundance with their presence at this fine facility they may also tend to block aisles and move at a snails pace right in front of you. If your in a hurry I wouldn't come here. Its a much slower process than other similar stores. Long waits at the cashier and heaven forbid you get stuck behind one of those coupon shoppers that hold up the line for an additional 10 minutes. Even getting out of the parking lot a hassle. Got stuck from an older person walking in the middle of the road as though they were an automobile. Seniors... bless their hearts. At times I've got a little foot tapping New Yorker in me. Sometimes I'm in a rush and I happened to come at one of those times. I briskly dodge and navigate around said seniors as I grab my necessities: donuts and distilled water. Nearby Whole Foods noticeably has a younger demographic that demand the best products and service. There you may find aloof 20 - 30 something year olds staring at their phone walking into traffic as they go about their hectic day. At WF I don't think I ever saw somebody over the age of 65 shopping -- so it appears that the needs of seniors were overlooked and neglected there. How can we allow this to happen to the good people that put in their time before us? We have financially trapped seniors into having to deal with 2nd class treatment from a lesser store. If you wanna save a buck Safeway is a great option if you don't value your free time. From what I remember the distilled water was 4/$5 and my car's radiator will never know that it didn't come from WF. read more

I'm starting to prefer the self check over the check stands. What happened to human interaction? At least the machine talks to me and greets me. The checkers here won't even bother to say the casual "Hi" or "How are you?" I thought this is included in the cashier's training guide book. Even though they don't like giving good customer service at least they keep the store clean. Everything that I need is always stocked and organized. If you're someone that enjoys the silent treatment this is the store for you. The addition of the gas station here is also another plus. This post is overdue, I have been meaning to get on here and rave about my girl Beverly in the deli department!!! I came in last minute needing a sandwich platter for a work event thinking they had them premade. I guess they don't do those anymore and you have to order them at least a day ahead of time. I explained my situation to Beverly and she and her team created the sandwich platter in all of 20 minutes and really saved the day for me. She is awesome and Safeway in Dublin is lucky to have her. It's one of the new modern Safeways with a Jamba Juice inside and wood floors in the produce floral section. Overall clean inside. I like how they have self serve check out areas. I wish they left more room between the middle displays. If the second self serve register was open there wasn't enough room to fit two shopping carts in the aisle. We had to pick up our items to squeeze by the shopping cart at the first self serve register to get to the second register and abandon the cart for after she left. Safeway gas station across the parking lot too. I didn't experience any problems so I'm not sure why the rating is only two stars right now. read more

When it comes to big companies screwing over the little people, Safeway can be added to the list. On December 14, 2020 we purchased 3 E-Bay gift cards for $100 each to lend to a friend that we thought was in distress until we went to her home and found out it was a scam. Within 30 minutes we returned the unused gift cards to Safeway only to find out that they would not refund our purchase. They told us we had to contact E-Bay to get the cards canceled and once E-Bay returned the $300 to Safeway they would refund our $300. We followed the procedures and E-Bay canceled the card and refunded to Safeway within two days, yet here on December 30, 2020 Safeway is yet to refund our $300. Per my discussion with a Safeway phone representative, the refund to Safeway was confirmed but our refund from Safeway my take 3 to 5 weeks because their accounting department needs time. In a world of technology I know this is a bunch of bull and they're just taking advantage of the situation but what can you do? NEVER EVER BUY ANOTHER GIFT CARD and don't be so quick to help a friend that can't pick up the phone and talk to you. Live and Learn! read more

Despite the low rating I have not had any issues with this store. I just moved to the area a few months ago and this is the only grocery store I shop at. Customer service is good, I have interacted with numerous employees in all areas (deli, customer service, bakery, meat) and have not seen any negative attitudes. I interacted with someone from the meat counter who had a very nice and friendly attitude and seemed like a genuinely good human being. No complaints, I shop here multiple times a week and also pick up Amazon deliveries. Everything seems well stocked, fruits and veggies are fresh. read more

Not sure why the average rating is so low but I really like this location. I take one star off because the parking lot scares me ( like, will I get hit while walking back to my car kind of scary) but that is about it. Items are logically located and service is super friendly. I can usually find someone that works here to get an item off of the top shelf for my short self which is rare in my hood. I usually jump up and down in San Leandro until 1) I successfully hit down the item I want and catch it amazingling while no one is there to witness the phenomena 2) a tall person grabs the item for me or 3) a tall person grabs my item and runs (and in my mind that person looks around and laughs). I would give this place three stars instead of four but the butcher/meat area bumps them up because service is perfect and suggestions for ways to cook the meat help me make the best meal for my fam. read more

I just moved it from the Gas Station page where it had accidentally been filed. ***** This is a very clean and very well stocked store and I would give it five stars except for two major problems. For each I've deducted a star. 1. The people working the meat department are not very well informed and are very very lazy. Once, we asked a question about some of the cuts of meat and they acted like we were bothering them, and could not answer the question. Then another time we asked for some shrimp from their display counter and the person working there told us no, since he said there was already some shrimp pre-packaged on the shelf. The pre-packaged stuff looked kind of old and had an expiration date that made it seem like it had been there a while. We clearly wanted the fresh looking shrimp in the display case but he refused to help us and we didn't want to push it. 2. The people working there, and this includes management, are oblivious to blocking the aisles. It's often impossible to move a cart around because of regular mid-day stocking, during which they leave large pallets in the middle of the floor. This is acceptable during the night shift but not at 11am. Also, maybe because of the store's proximity to the headquarters in nearby Pleasanton, there are always large crowds of employees blocking access to the shelfs. They seem to be having meetings or training sessions in the aisles. Most of them are dressed in business attire, and they are reluctant to move out of the way when customers need to get a certain item. They are very polite, but at the same time they are very slow to move and often make it seem as if the customers are getting in THEIR way. I love this store most of the time, but because they make it seem like we are bothering them by shopping there, we mostly shop at nearby Sprouts or at Lucky in San Ramon. No one is waiting at the customer service help desk, so customers stand around waiting for quite a while before someone shows up. I stood around waiting for a while before anybody came up to help me. I am astonished you cannot do an anonymous Club card. They insist upon getting your personal information. This strikes me as very unreasonable. In some stores, you don't actually need to give personal information. Why in the world would I agree to give my personal shopping information to anyone? Also, you cannot actually sign up for the loyalty card at the check stand. You actually have to go up to the customer service desk to get this card created. At most other stores, the check or can do it for you very rapidly. But not here. I checked with the customer service desk to see if this was true. I finally gave up and walked away since is taking so long to get some help. read more

This grocery store is fine. It is large and has a huge selection. It has also been recently remodeled and has lit shelves in the drug area. This store also has a Jamba nice right up front. They have the usual tech sandwich line and sushi. To the other comments below, sometimes things do go out of stock. This is a busy store, it's very convenient of the freeway, next to Target, and off Dublin Blvd. The key is not to expect everything to still be there of you go at the late side of a rush or before they restock. The parking is the same, plentiful as long as you don't go at the same time everyone else does. Even then I've always been able to park somewhere. Even if you do go when it's busy it's no worse than any other slammed grocery store. read more

I was at this store trying to buy pre-cut fruits, but the store was stocking them when I was in. Instead of waiting I ended up buying ice cream, and Haagen Daaz was on sale. When I tried scanning the digital coupon on my App, it wouldn't take it. I took a picture and was in line to pay. Long story short, when the sale price didn't take cashier asked me to show her my App. Took my phone away from me to scroll through and explained there is a problem with the app and told me to call the number while I had the picture of the digital coupon. When I opted to go to Customer Care, the lady at the customer care did the same thing. I know we are in much better place with COVID, but I still wear my mask when I go to the grocery store because I did catch COVID after being fully vaccinated. To have my personal phone taken away two times, by two different people, then touching it, just doesn't make one feel comfortable, let alone the ridiculous experience I had over three containers of ice cream purchase. Ended up returning them at the Customer Care counter and wouldn't recommend this store to anyone. read more

This Safeway isn't too bad... I mean, it's true that this store only has a maximum of two workers at a time but it does the job. I hardly come here and see the place packed anyway. Every corner of the store has a worker in it, though, so that's nice. This store is always well-stocked. Across the street is their gas station, which offers gas at a great deal! Pharmacists at pharmacy have become extremely rude lately... I drop off my prescription 2 to 3 days in advanced and still when I come in to pick it up they have not prepared it. In this specific case, I dropped of my prescription 8/26/2020. I spoke the the pharmacist on 8/28/2020 and they ensured my my medication would be ready the following day. Still, I get here and am waiting 20+ minutes for them to fill the prescription. There is no explanation or apology on their end, just "yeah.. we need 15 minutes to get your prescriptions ready." read more

Two stars because they have a few really awesome employees. I've lived in the are for about a year and shop here a lot and they always greet me and have pleasant conversation with me. I do have a gripe... recently I've noticed their selection of fresh fruits and veggies have been looking pretty sad lately. They are selling produce that's OVER ripe and nearly ready to go bad. Bummer for someone like me who likes to keep fresh stuff in the kitchen. And for the prices... just not worth it. I hope they fix it soon. I pulled into the parking spot for orders to be delivered to our cars, then called to have them bring it out. We made this order a few days ago for a manager's meeting we were having in San Leandro. Jessica T came out to say they were having a problem with pulling my order, then she looked and saw it was for platters, we can't pull that & it's going to be 20 minutes. I, of course, flipped out. I know it was not her fault but she also didn't know how important this meeting was and for me not to have any hiccups. I didn't know for a few minutes what I was going to do, then Jessica T came up with a way to fix the problem. I was THRILLED with Jessica 's outstanding customer service! Thank You Jessica you rock! I happened to be in the Dublin area, and needed to pick-up some groceries before heading home. Boy am I glad to know that there exists a Safeway where questionable characters aren't running amok. I actually felt safe going around with my kid in this Safeway. Everything was in stock, and call us cheesy, but we were amazed by the special display stands this particular location put up in the wine/deli/bakery section. Management put work into this store's aesthetic, and patrons respect that. I will definitely be returning to this Safeway if I am ever in town again! read more

safeway personnel always are friendly and willing to assist. the deli departments in livermore, dublin and pleasanton wish to accomodate: however, over and over they seem to be unfamiliar with the weighing and cutting of meats. with the equipment changing,i have been unable for about 2 yrs to be given a 'number' which will assist the individual in cutting meat or cheese the way i have asked. i do explain as thoroughly and give feedback when the cut is too thin or mostly too thick. the deli meat i have received has been too thick for my use. today the individual indicated she didn't know the correct way in which to use the equipment. we enjoy having the opportunity to buy deli meat but the experience is generally unsuccessful and expensive due to receiving meat that is entirely too thick. read more

I went into the checkout line on July 2 and the conveyor belt was disgusting; it was wet and had white powder along the entire length of the belt. The cashier (I think his name is Jay) tells me I can put my items on the belt, to which I responded that the belt is dirty so I will just hand him my items. He does not offer to clean the belt, has an attitude that I am handing him the times and at every opportunity throws my items across the scanner. It appears he had been allowed to get away with this negative attitude for far too long. And since I am sure nothing will change, I will take my business back to Trader Joe's where I don't have to experience the nastiness. read more

It's honestly embarrassing how few check stands this store has open regardless of time of day. I cringe when I see the lone clerk doing all they can to get the lines down. The line is literally all the way to the back of the store and curves around at the pharmacy. 1 check stand open (#8), no help or manager in sight as the automatic message over the store speakers claims that we are all valued customers. Well despite how terrible this Safeway has been for the 8 years I have been coming here I will continue shopping here due to how close it is to my place(walking distance). That being said, this place is a total disaster & the Management has know idea how to train, follow-up and educate the staff which shows in their poor attitude. From top to bottom especially the meat department , very rude and they could care less I have heard them use profane language and the looks they give wow. The work environment is hostile and unacceptable. There are a few good apples, especially the produce department. It is very apparent that this Safeway is not and has not been under a mature, professional & well trained seasoned management crew. read more

Safeway is never my top choice to shop for groceries as it is very expensive compared to the other grocery stores. However I do Occasionally get sandwiches from the deli until today I've never had trouble. So today I asked for a large veggie but the lady ended up cutting my sandwich making into two 6 inches. As she's building my sandwich on one of the sandwich I asked her to put chipotle sauce but no cheese. After she's done wrapping my sandwich she puts two stickers on and I was going to pay, I was being charged for two sandwiches rather than one which is more. At cash register I'm told I need to go back to the deli and get the correct tags. So I leave the line and go back to the deli the lady who made my sandwich tells me that I got two completely different sandwiches. Wait what?? Im confused... How is the two different sandwiches??? Both are veggies. And if you tell me because I put cheese on half and different sauce, I've done that plenty of time. No one has ever charged me anything.
