With a name like this, I was expecting it to be a hodge-podge 99 cents store, but it wasn't that, nor big. What is it? It's one great Indian market! It's very clean, well presented, and smells good! Fresh produce, spices, rice (great prices), snacks, and frozen foods. Service is very nice and helpful. One thing this is missing is hot foods prepared fresh for take out. What makes an Indian grocery store standout is its quality, freshness and variety of fresh vegetables. Big Bazaar scored 10/10 on that front. It has the best selection of fresh vegetables in the tri valley. It's for this reason alone, it's worth a drive to Danville. They are following COVID precautions and their service has always been exceptional. This is my most fav desi store in east bay. Very clean, well stocked and immaculately organized. Their produce is always fresh and great quality. Cherry on the top is their customer service, the owner is sweet and so very receptive to suggestions. There are no Pakistani stores in the east bay so we requested him to bring some Pakistani snacks and sweets and he very kindly obliged. Lastly they have been great in following covid SOPs, the glass partition between the cashier and customers makes one feel safer. read more

I've never gone to Big Bazaar before and completely forgot this was even here! I'm SO glad my friend recommended me this spot. They rescued me!! When the whole COVID-19 happened, every grocery store was out of lentils. I went to like 3 different stores and couldn't find any. Thankfully Big Bazaar had plenty!! The store is small but has variety of food. They had several different kinds of lentils and brands. The staff was super helpful and kind. There's plenty of parking in the parking lot too. The prices are affordable as well. I highly recommend going here for any of your grocery needs! No crowds of people and they have plenty of food to choose from. read more

I tried to resolve this directly at both the store, and also wrote a note through their website to the owner, however no one has responded and this is a significant issue and worth my time to review, because I have a business helping people prevent or recover from illness, and the quality of a few Items I purchased here I brought to cashier Pam's attention. My intention was to let her know I had purchased chana dal and kabuli chana, and neither softened after soaking and cooking. I tried sprouting the one and it did not sprout. I tried another batch with a pressure cooker and they barely softened. The importance of this was not just that they may have been old and/or sitting too long, but that they had also lost their viability, which means that they provide no nutrients and are indigestible. For someone with cancer, paying for organics and nutrient rich food that is indigestible and nutrient poor creates further challenges if unaware. I was delighted that there were organics available here, and that they were from India, but I felt it was my responsibility to let the owners know this information, thinking they would want to know, but instead Pam told me that I simply did not know how to soak or cook them, and that there was nothing wrong with them. She told me women in India knew how to cook. I explained I was not looking for a refund, just wanting to let her know what I found in those two items. I had bought nearly $200 of various groceries there, and everything seemed to be good, except these and my intention was simply to let her know, since they too were paying for items of that quality, not to blame. I even brought the remaining amounts back, so they could try cooking them for themselves if they wanted to check them. Pam, the cashier named on the receipt was blatantly rude and patronizing, and when I asked her if I could at least dispose of the bags, she told me no, that I could find somewhere else to take them. I prepare ayurvedic spice blends, teach online cooking classes, and refer East Bay clients to specialty stores to find healthy ingredients for recipes. This is NOT a place that I would refer them to, and sadly, many of my clients live across the street and in surrounding areas. read more

Me and my partner come here often whenever we are in the need for great quality vegetables for a lost cost . They also added more organic product options that are healthy and tasty, for a great price. They are always adding new products so it's great to keep trying new items. Best grocery store in the area by far. Much cleaner than other Indian grocery stores. read more

Very disappointed . 3 times I picked stuff that was stale . I gave the lady the input I took kaju barfi On diwali and it was stale, the trail mix I picked was stale. All I needed from her was hearing and making things better. She refused to even acknowledge . Making me feel as if I am being unreasonable . On asking how they have shelf life dates on products she said they have none. Really !! And went on as if am asking something weird. I would expect them to check what item I am saying was bad. I opened the same bag on her shelf and gave it to her . It was stinking . She was still not willing to accept . Unacceptable customer service. Made me ashamed of calling this an Indian store. Grow up guys, learn from other stores . Listen to customer. Never returning to this store. Go somewhere else. read more

What I like about this store is that it is located in the most convenient location - near the Blackhawk mall. The store is nicely kept with fresh vegetables, majority of the grocery items. I was able to find all the items I was looking for. Visited this place three times. There is also some Indian clothes. Great location and well kept - clean. Selection is well thought out, has everything I want most of the time, and prices are reasonable, pretty much the same as further south in Dublin, great especially when one considers that it is a lot closer than going farther south. Owner friendly and helpful. Very convenient for people in Lamorinda, Walnut Creek and upper 680 corridor. I usually combine with a trip to San Ramon Costco. We have to buy min 10/- for running our card or cash only. Bought 2 items from there one is packaged - crispy Punjab cookies - gross smelt stale and were hella stale. Their curry patha literally had 15-20 individual leaves not stems which got brown the very next day. Seems like they separated the leaves and consolidated into snack bags and sold them that's the reason there were no stems. Bought another package of cookies since min was 10/- again had to throw them. Disappointed! read more

I have a Pakistani wedding to attend and went in here to get an idea of Sari colors and costs. The woman who helped me went above and beyond in explaining the appropriate dress for each of the events and what I'd expect to pay for various material quality. She assisted me in choosing colors and draping and gave me input on what looked good. I ended up buying one half Sari there for the Mehndi party. One down two to go.
