I live in Livermore and I choose to come shop at the Pleasanton location most of the time. I just wanted to leave a message to thank the staff and Taylor for helping me out the other day. After shopping and putting my groceries in my trunk I went to the drivers side to open the door and I fell backwards hitting my head on the concrete curb. I managed to stand up on my own and walk back into the store. Thank you Taylor for staying by my side until my daughter came to pick me up. When he and another staff saw that my head was bleeding they had me sit down, got me paper towels to apply to the wound. Long story short...daughter drove me to ER in Walnut Crwwk, CT scan, overnight stay for observation and another scan in the morning proved no brain bleed and no fractured skull. My local Grocery Outlet located on the corner of Bernal Avenue and Tawny Drive/Vineyard Avenue in Pleasanton is a convenient stop. *The store is clean and well stocked *A variety of goods:cards, plants/succulents, toiletry items, household items, pet supplies, and your typical grocery items *Their wine selection is well stocked and has phenomenal prices *Their staff is friendly and helpful They have your name brand items that are cheaper and there are an assortment of brand labels that are rotated, you may not see the same brand monthly. They have a win what you save incentive; customers can put their receipts in a box with their name, phone number and email. The box is located in the front of the store. There is a drawing once a month and what the customers save they win that amount. I always forget to check out the lower prices for their household and toiletry products. I got my groceries and placed my reusable bag at the end to bag my groceries and the guy who I think is the assistant manager started tossing my groceries to the end of the way. like aggressively enough to notice so I bagged my own groceries and he got bugged that I was taking too long to pay but if you are going to throw my stuff around and have me bag it you can wait until I'm done. he was rude as heck and completely unprofessional he also tossed my plant so hard it broke some of the branches off. read more

Generally, I steer away from GO but this location is my exception. Always well stocked and with great produce - this store always has what I need. I like that I can find brand name items at this location and not to mention the staff is amazing and super friendly. I went in there for deodorant and ended up with a lot more due to the simple price of items. They also discount items close to their BEST BY date and it's usually a couple days - long enough to use for sure. Great store! read more

Going to Grocery Outlet can be like going on a treasure hunt. You never know what special item you may find. The produce section is well stocked and kept clean. You feel like the fruit and vegetables are fresh. The prices are comparable, if not a little lower than other grocery stores. The shelves are well stocked. They have most basic pantry items. They have cereals and ice cream which you don't find in other grocery stores. They have a little library outside the store which the owners keep stocked. They support the local library book sales. Their cashier service is friendly and fast. Place is organized and clean. Their prices are amazingly low. They always have basics salad, mushrooms, apples, milk, bread, chicken, steak, ham, etc but the brands vary. There will be cereal maybe just not the one you want. They also have selection of organic or exotic items that go for much more at boutique stores but at low prices I've tried out several items I keep returning for. Problem is often when they run out of the item they don't offer them again - like squid ink pasta and Frederkson frozen pizza (East coast brand, guessing their debut into west coast stores didn't go well). read more

I had the worst day of my life about a month ago. I was served eviction papers and that barely tipped the scale compared to the other things I had going on. We all have bad days. My daughter needed a few things and I figured I would make a short trip to the GC being it's only a few blocks from my apartment. It was one of those unbearably hot days .. of course my cars ac was not working right .. I got in the car so quick I didn't even remember my shoes. I'm like okay I'm Going to run in grab it and go back.. the heat and sun really affects my brain these days .. I wa diagnosed with lupus so at least now we know why. I'm a single mother I'm disabled and I just needed compassion .. My phone had been shut off that day .. and of course I left my cards and purse at home.. I needed to use the WiFi .. all the employees seemed very unfamiliar with how to use it .. I didn't have service so I couldn't receive the code so I asked if one of the employees could use their phone number to receive the code .. long story short the manager let me use his hot spot.. The old lady that was at the register was done with me before she started my transaction of my few items .. she scoffed at me and after I let her know that the manager who let me use his hot spot said he would again let me use it if it didn't let me use the card on my phone .. she questioned me "really he said that" is a disgusting display of customer service I responded with "no I'm lying" with a good amount of attitude I will admit.. I was so done with the day I needed compassion and I was met with rudeness .. she said she was done and asked me to leave the store I asked if she could just ring the items for my daughter and nothing else she said no they threatened to call the cops and even that same manager who helped me sided with her .. So I left .. this has never happened to me in my life. I have been in customer service since I was 16 and I've dealt with it all.. but I've never experienced the disgusting entitled behavior of this very VERY MATURE woman very much not a minority def not aware of the surrounding areas .. who if anything in my opinion could have turned it to a learning moment but instead .. they left me broken .. without the things my daughter wanted for school.. luckily we are on the free lunch program but I had saved and moved money around to get her these special items and she deserved them . I never raised my voice acted in any sort of erratic nature and truthfully the employee made a much bigger deal than what my presence had created. The worst thing I did was cry in defeat .. bc that's all I could do I called a few days later to be met with the same type of rude behavior when I asked to speak to the head manager or owner. They said he maybe would be in from 10-2 but sometimes doesn't come in and when he does he may be there awhile or not .. and they gave me an email Address but I'm sure they didn't bring this to his attention .. They all seemed to annoyed or (to be nice) were unfamiliar with customer service in general .. I've been there many times in the years since this store opened .. and so many times item were mis marked not in the system etc. Idk what I am expecting from this post really but to be heard .. I'll still be frequenting this store and hope that everyone is there and I'll still be polite .. bc that's what people who work with the public do! Not sure who shit in her cereal but her demeanor is gross and brings down the whole mood of the store .. would love this to be acknowledged by owners but realistically nothing will even happen .. Here's the rest of the story: As a loyal subscriber to the "Tightwad Gazette," I like a good bargain. I met the owner recently, and I decided to check out the bargains. This new store is big, bright, and filled with a huge stash of deals. The first thing I noticed was the gardening items out front--especially the berry plants. I don't have any more room in my garden, so I proceeded inside, where I made my way through the store, purchasing a few items along the way. The best deal I found was a big package of coffee K-Cups, which were cheaper than even Walmart. (I did not want my wife to be biased against a cut-rate store, so I told her they were mislabeled, and actually came from Nordstrom's.) Anyway, I found several other items that were good deals, including seafood, breakfast bars, and dog food. I did not want my dog to be biased against cut-rate dog food, so I told her it was mislabeled, and actually came from Nordstrom's. I then made my way to the friendly cashier, waiting to check me out. There was absolutely zero waiting in line. Attention Walmart shoppers: Please note the difference. I was pretty sure I saved some serious cash today. It's such a good feeling when you get a bargain. After paying for everything, I later discovered I had accidentally left a small item in the bottom of the grocery cart. "Oh no, I have become a shoplifter!" I cried. "What will become of me?" Yes, yes, I was truly sorry, but not sorry enough to go back in the store to pay them 99c. It was just too hot to bother. So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Next time I visit I'll pay you $0.99 extra. By the way, here's the reason I visited this store in the first place. The owner was gracious enough to supply items for searchers looking for the missing runner at Pleasanton Ridge. Nice layout! The meat section is large and very well organized. Prices reasonable. Soaps, vitamins and lotions all nicely displayed and priced for budgets. Frozen section had a lot of name brand goods. Bakery? Where they keep the bread products anyway was nicely done as was the produce department. Now for the best part of the store... Grocery Outlet takes over the space vacated by New Leaf Community Market. it will be great for the community nearby. no more driving down the hill to go shopping. of course the wines will be the biggest sellers. G.O. isn't a full service grocery. it specializes in sourcing manufacturers' oversupply. another description would be items that didn't sell well, had printing errors, etc. i look for chips, snacks at a reduced price. there's a tortilla chip that's always there. sometimes for .99 cents. why paid $3.99? nice to try something new without paying full price. of course some items will taste blah. high end items that doesn't sell well may end up here. it's worth the time to browse the aisles for bargains. read more

Very convenient location, generally great prices. I will say I come here enough that I've been here on all sorts of days and times. The staff is typically friendly. My only negative feelings toward this location are their pricing. There are a couple instances where I feel like they don't actually have good deals, and in the case today I finally felt compelled to write a review. My kids each picked out festive Thanksgiving decor. We added them to the cart and checked out not thinking anything of it. Then as we were walking out the door, I noticed the price stickers were scribbled out. Upon closer inspection it looked like they were selling for $5.99 -- but when I checked my receipt I was charged $6.99 for each, but got a "25% off seasonal" deal... only it's not really a "DEAL" if they are charging more than what it was priced for. read more

3.5 stars IMO. I've been to this Grocery Outlet a few times. It is much cleaner and organized compared to the Livermore location. I wish there was a store closer to San Ramon because this store is in "deep" Pleasanton. A few items that I checked had expiration dates all the way back to February including ice cream. I know certain items are best buy dates; but, a lot were perishable items that were expired over a month. I did find some really good deals and with prices increasing rapidly; it was nice to get a few deals. They have a large wine section; but, I'm not a wine person unless it is Moscato. Next time I'll try to browse their wine section to see their Moscato selection. The cashiers were not very friendly. There was one cashier open and about 5 of us in line. I was the next person (my items were still in the cart) and the male employee called the people behind me. That was slightly irritating because he looked right at me. read more

This was probably my first time ever in a Grocery Outlet. I really didn't know what to expect and apparently I could expect a lot of things: from fresh produce, meat, health bars, to household items such as soap. They seemed to offer items at really competitive price. I loved how on their price tags they included elsewhere's price (on average I presume) to make it easier to see the comparison. The store itself was pretty organized. It was neat, tidy and clean. The isles were wide and spacious so I felt very comfortable shopping there. Parking lot was space so parking wouldn't be an issue at all. One thing I learned when I was in the store was that each Grocery Outlet store was owned and operated by the members of local community and neighborhood, so that was super cool. It makes me definitely want to support them more. read more

So I have been a mostly daily shopper at this Grocery Outlet location. Today I had a handful of items and only two isles were open with shopping carts overflowing with items. A cashier that was not helping customers saw me. Proceeded to walk over to a cash register, did not acknowledge me and went to check others that just happened to walk up to her isle. Be careful and check your receipt because I was over-charged $20 for an item that cost 70cents (it was a single pouch cat treat). After checkout I am walking out of the store thinking my receipt was higher than it should have been. I looked it over and found an $20 charge and no matching item. I was able to get a different associate to give it a second look and start the refund process. I was told that I wasn't able to get the refund put back on my card, instead she said she can only return with cash, which says I was cheated at the register by one of the employees. I love this grocery outlet witch is why I'm leaving 5 stars. The selection and the thoughtfulness of stocking the shelves with exceptional products and the prices of produce is amazing. I love that there are options for non chemical ingredients and they carry many of my favorite brands that are organic and chemical free! I love all the employees there is a guy who works in meat department who is so nice and helpful and stops to ask me if I need help when looking for the Rosie's chickens I want to say his name was David but I think I'm wrong but he was so nice. And the tall cashier guy is so nice and always talks to you. But today sadly is the first time I had a bad experience my cashier was so rude and snappy for no reason and really had a bad attitude and i was trying to bag my groceries and he just stood there with an awful look on his face and acted annoyed that i was not quick enough he rolled his eyes and made a noise and i looked up and he look down at my groceries and up at me like hurry up instead of helping me and there were people behind in line and he just stood there acting annoyed it was so bizarre I tried to look for a name tag but he didn't have one on he was bald with a long gray beard pop belly with a back brace. Grocery Outlet takes my money almost every day and I'm all for it! You'll find me at this place a couple times out of the week, partially because of its great location. They replaced this really expensive grocery store called New Leaf & I'm SOOO glad they did! Great prices, great produce, great produce, great organic selection, great deals and a REALLY clean store. They are SOOO much better than the one in Livermore in my humble opinion. It feels much more upscale and does not feel like a "bargain market" store at all. I just love this place and look forward to seeing what new items are in each time I visit. My only negative feedback is that there have been a few times I've gotten items that were either expired or so close to expiration that when it came time for me to eat it -- I had missed the date. *NOTE TO SELF* AAAAALWAYS check expiration when buying food there!!! Sometimes you have PLENTY of time and sometimes you have until like, tomorrow to use or consume! LOL Also, customer service has been hit or miss. Mostly good but not always. For example, there was one time in particular where I was walking back and forth multiple times clearly looking for an item and 3 workers were huddled in the middle of the store engrossed in a conversation. They saw me, looked at me but didn't think to ask if I needed help ( I actually did). I ended up needing to find someone else to help me but that felt strange. But on the flip side there have been workers who have gone out of their way to help me find items. So it's not been perfect customer service although everyone I have spoken to has it least been nice. I'm a Wholefoods and farmers markets frequent goer and was not sure what to expect from a discount grocery. I went for it is conveniently located. The store was bright, clean and well organized, just opposite to what you would expect from a discount store. They do carry lots of high end stuff that normally would cost a lot more in other stores. Their wine and toy sections have lots of surprisingly good selections. The only thing is that their stuff is very "seasonal"; you don't always get to find the same things again. Really excited when I found out about this place. Been shopping at Grocery Outlet for a while. Livermore has one but it's dirty and Dublin had one but it closed down. This location is really really clean. Great options to shop and really good brands. A definite must shop. I prefer Grocery Outlet over other stores. I will definitely be shopping here from now on. This location is smaller than the Livermore location, but they still have a large amount of quality food and products. They have two outstanding employees, a male and a female working in their wine department. This post is about the owner, Richard. I came in to do returns on some bottles of wine since my Xmas Eve party had to be cancelled due to illness. I didn't know you could not return alcohol and the owner, Richard, was there to tell me this. He explained that the only way I could return the wine is if I opened it and said it was not good. He further said that if I choose to do that, he will never allow me to come into his store again. This incensed me into really wanting to do that. I have literally spent hundreds and hundreds at Grocery Outlet and for Richard to speak to me like that as shocking. The total of my return bottles was about $35. I explained to him that I was very disappointed since I am simply living on SocSec and his response was, "Well if you are only living on SocSec then why are you having a party?". OMG, this is the Owner of the store! My party was a memorial to my mother, and I was left speechless after that. He is not a nice person, and not a kind business owner. I will never shop in his store again and will encourage my friends to continue to only use the Livermore outlet. read more

GO is our go-to for the best deals on everything. This location is clean and well organized and has a great selection. We go in intending to buy some items and always leave with a cart full of stuff because the sales are great! We were sad when the Dublin closed near us. Hope this one stays put. read more

I like Grocery Outlets. They're all a little different but mostly the same. They remind me of Trader Joe's 27 years ago when we went to our first TJ's. There's a lot of name brand product close-outs and failed new products as well as overstock and end of sell by date products. There is also a fair amount of off brand stuff, some good, some crappy. The trick is pick wisely and you can get some great bargains. Produce is usually pretty good and always a bargain. And then there's the wine! So much wine. If you are a wine snob like me, most of it is crap. But finding that rare gem at super bargain has become one of my favorite hobbies. Wineries have overstock of older vintages they want to turn into needed cash so they let it go for pennies on the dollar. Wineries go out of business. And if you're not a wine snob you will find 50-60% of the wine to be very good, 20% good and the rest crap. I buy 3 different bottles per visit and bring them home to taste. If one happens to impress me I go back and get a case before it's gone. All in all a great alternative grocery store that makes for a fun and interesting visit, especially at a GO in your less affluent neighborhoods. read more

I was so happy when this opened in Pleasanton. I never have an exact shopping list because I don't know what they will have sometimes but I love their prices. They do have things that say Safeway don't, like Frosted Flakes with regular and chocolate flavors in it. My grandson loved this so I went back and got two more boxes because they may not carry again. If your on Keto, they have a lot of items, especially the sweetners,, for a great price. If you can be flexible on what your shopping for try this store you will never know what you find there at great prices. read more

This is not how a Store Owner should act and not treat others like they are cattle beneath his feet. I'll continue to shop there but next time I may speak up if I hear it again. I've been shopping at Grocery Outlet stores for many years, anytime there was one relatively nearby. I've never had any complaints as to quality, selection, and value. However, the new store in Pleasanton is a step up. I'm thinking that the primary reason that more people don't shop there is that they really don't even know they're there since there's not that much advertising, or they think it's some kind of a typical cheap "dented can" store. Granted, you will not always find everything that you might be used to buying in the larger super market chains, but you can save literally hundreds of $$ a month if you can be a bit flexible, and you can always make that trip to your regular chain store, if there's a must have that isn't available at the G.O. As their slogan says "shop us first" But, actually, you'll find many unique, upscale products at bargain prices, but often once they're sold out they may not be available for awhile, if ever. Always, a great selection of health food/vegetarian/vegan items, even housewares, and garden supplies, but, if you enjoy wine the selection, and bargains, are unbelievable, always some good buys on the hard stuff, too.....THE END. read more
