I bought my $14.99 combo box today . It is a large rectangular box and you can fill in with items of your choice . It is $14.99 . If you buy just one meat item and a medium size paper box is already $12 The self served deli section has fried rice , stir fry egg noodle and hor fun ( rice fiat noodle ) . Many different types of cooked vegetables ( Napa , broccoli, zucchini, egg plants , etc ) and meats ( chicken , beef , fish , shrimp , beef brisket ) tofu , etc . They all taste great and you can stack up a lot more of you put the smaller pieces in the bottom . I bring my own extra containers. After I paid the cashier I put all the salt & pepper fish filet into my own container to keep it dry and fluffy. The batter they use are very tasty and light. It has so much room I have enough food to last me two meals . For the $14.99 combo you must put in some rice and vegetables. Cannot be all meats . That is not hard to arrange . I have includes photos and the prices list for the deli section . They get the first batch of food around 11:00 and then refill once around 2 pm . It's been a while since I've gone here for grocery shopping. And well, I prefer going to other Asian markets. I've noticed they don't carry a lot of the products they used to carry. And they've gotten a lot more pricey. Like some of the buns, fresh or frozen has gone up $2-3. Same with their fresh meat, poultry, and seafood. Selection is not as great and their prices have gone up. The store isn't as organized like before. Also, the smell of dried fish always hits you as soon as you walk in. And still there's the lack of customer service. I'll probably be back only if I'm in need of a particular item, but that's about it. read more

This is the Ranch 99 I have gone to the most so I have a decent amount of experience. Overall the store is a bit dated compared to the new H Mart, it will look underwhelming. I am okay with that. The workers are okay. Parking is okay for the most part but it can get a somewhat difficult during peak hours. The selection of items is pretty vast. They have a good variety and I don't miss much.. The only thing I wish they had but didn't was Thai Basil. I have gone to this place several times and made the same mistake thinking they had it. They have some pretty good deals but you will have to do some searching. My biggest criticism will be their hot foods. The entrees are never fresh. Maybe at the beginning of the day but even when I see them refill them- they still feel old. I have ordered their self serve combo too many times. It haunts my soul how they cannot make fresh entrees. I do enjoy their stewed beef and fried fish though. Those two items are always good. The fish has a better crisp than expected and would be great with just a bit more seasoning. Their orange chicken gets old and the batter starts to fall off. The flavor is alright I guess. Their veggies are fine. A necessary green to your combo. Their eggplant has okay flavor but it's a bit too oily. I love coming to this ranch 99! I come every Sunday and it's never crowded and there are hardly any lines. Veggies and meats are very fresh. They also have a good selection of hot pot broths and sauces. You also get a $2 coupon for any $20 spent, and you can use this at the bakery or at the hot foods bar (boxes are a fixed price so you can pack as much as you want). I was actually impressed with the desserts that the bakery carried, having items like Japanese soufflé cakes, cheese mochi cakes, and crepe cakes. Many of these items I got for free due to the coupons. People are comparing ranch 99 to HMART, but when has HMART ever given you free items?! I prefer ranch 99 over HMART any day. This 99 Ranch location is Dublin's oldest. Now there's like 3 locations in the Dublin Pleasanton area, I guess there really must be a demand for Asian grocery stores out here in the suburbs. Parking can be a pain here on weekends, but midweek mornings are fine. I'm not to much into shopping for groceries and produce or prepping those big fish they sell here, but I do like the ready to eat deli items they have and the bakery as well. The ready to eat deli has a bunch of Chinese food to go and not just the Panda Express kinds stuff, but real Chinese food, some of which I had no idea what it was. I did recognize chicken feet though ... hard to miss that. The food is great and hot and you can just eat right in the indoor dining area or get it to take out. Those ducks hanging in the window are kinda expensive now, but I guess everything has gone up. It really helps if you speak Cantonese here, I don't .... so I just point. I think we are pretty lucky to have 3 Ranch 99s in the area to shop at. It makes it alot less crowded now. This one is the original one in the area. It is a little bit older than the other two. Parking is also not too bad now. The prices are still fairly reasonable and I can pick up all my asian veggies and sauces here that I can't get elsewhere. I like this 99 Ranch. It's always busy and their meat and produce is always fresh, probably due to the higher turnover rate. Nice variety of Asian groceries. Prices are always reasonable with weekly specials. And you get coupons (I think $1 per $20 of purchase) for their Hot Deli section, so you can offset some of your bread, cooked food section cost. However their service has gone down over the years. It's a bit annoying that they no longer help you bag your groceries, unless asked and they'll do it very reluctantly. It was agreed that I'd be cooking crab when meeting up with my pseudo siblings. I'm often requested to make this and immediately I thought of picking up live Dungeness crabs in Oakland Chinatown but was advised they don't have any. In disbelief I then blurted out 99 Ranch Market (99) as a backup plan and the next thing I know we hopped in the car, and we arrived at this 99 in Dublin. As we entered, I grabbed a shopping cart as I pretty much was advised to pick up whatever ingredients I needed to cook as one of my pseudo siblings now live in the "boonies" and to be exact, 4 hours north of Oakland. The produce section was the closest from the entrance, but I made a beeline to the seafood section, and I needed to secure live crabs. As I had anticipated, there were large tanks of live seafood and I saw a whole bunch of Dungeness crabs with a sign of $9.99/lb. Wow, what a deal as I'm used to seeing $15.99/lb+ in Hawaii. There were quite a few elderly Asians shopping in the area hovering over the fish section, but we grabbed a number and waited for our turn. It didn't take long to be assisted. I was advised to prepare for 9 adults, so I asked the staff for 3 large Dungeness crabs. We also saw a tank of live prawns, so we also got 1 1/2 lbs. After securing our seafood, we made it back to the produce section and started to get the standards in Cantonese cooking: garlic, ginger, green onions, and onions. For fresh veggies, my buddy wanted to eat pea sprouts so we got a couple of bags and I also picked up 2 bags of young Chinese broccoli. I was missing shallots and walked around 2x and couldn't find any so one of my siblings suggested I ask one of the staff. He immediately noticed none were displayed so he went back and got a huge sack (25 lbs?) of large shallots. He was so kind to slit the top open and have me select what I needed before putting the rest on display. I then realized I needed some heat and wanted to pick up a few chili peppers or jalapenos, however, they are prepackaged at this 99 and sold in trays. It was less than $2 for a tray of 6 jalapenos so I added that to my cart. Lastly, I needed some Chinese parsley, which were less than a $1 for a large bunch which is cheap in my books. Price was reduced for quick sale. I had picked up live seafood that cost $$$ so I wasn't going to degrade my dish with discolored and wilted ingredients. We also made our way throughout the supermarket and picked up oyster sauce, cornstarch, and assorted beverages, including Japanese chu hai so I added a couple of grapefruit ones. We pretty much had all what we came for, so we headed to the checkout section and to our delight the lines were not long. We paid for our produce and had to bag our own groceries. Overall, a successful shopping experience at this 99 where we purchased what we came for. The layout and appearance of this 99 is well organized and clean. I didn't notice any fishy smell that you sometimes experience when shopping at the seafood section. Bonus points to the friendly male staff who got me my needed shallots for the dishes I was going to cook. read more

Updated review after 8 years: This 99 Ranch somehow gone from my least favorite to my favorite over a span of a few years. Yes, its small and the parking lot is uneven - those haven't changed. What has changed it seems is that they offering consistently high-quality produce (even an organic section!) and I can normally find things in stock. Its also closer to home since I don't have to deal with that ugly 580/680 interchange to get here. Favorite items: 1. Pei Pa Koa - Limit 2 per customer. The quintessential herbal cough/sore throat remedy dating back centuries in China. Thick, viscous, and sweet. Clever mixologists can use this for cocktails. 2. Sweet Potatoes and Purple Yam - the best quality and always good. Better than Whole Foods. 3. Veggies: okra, Chinese eggplant, daikon, iron nagaimo, bok choy, and gai lan. 4. Frozen European Sea Bass fillets. These are thin, skin-on fillets that cook in minutes. 5. Berkshire ground pork and pork collar. 6. Crystal Geyer Water - normally cheapest here, from $0.99/gal to like $1.29:gal. They stock my son's favorite milk too, Horizon Whole DHEA. read more

I have passed by the 99 Ranch Market many times along my commute and finally decided to make a visit after work. As you walk in, you're greeted by a large variety of fresh produce which includes nicely packaged fruit from international sources at varying price points. The selection of apples alone was astonishing which included additional specialty items such as yellow kiwi that are hard to find anywhere else. The store is clean and well-organized, so it was easy to navigate through the many aisles which were filled with authentic Asian ingredients and goods. As you walk towards the far end of the supermarket we found the fresh seafood section which stands out with many types of fish varieties to choose from. I ended up purchasing a few pounds of fresh and reasonably priced Golden Pompano which they prepared and cleaned to grill at home. It was delicious. There is a small bakery section on the opposite end of the establishment with freshly made pastries which were picture perfect and a hot food counter for quick to-go meals which unfortunately I didn't have the time to experience. On our way out, our cashier was kind and helpful making sure we found everything we were looking for. So happy that I found Curvee Puffs on sale from this store today, and it was the curry flavor which is my absolute favorite. It was $0.99 a bag because they were all near expiration date, but I definitely could finish them all well before their expiration date, haha. I ended up buying all of them. Not busy at 6pm on a Thursday night. I came here to buy a few things for kbbq and hotpot with my family. It's not your H Mart but they have the basics like meat, mushrooms, vegetables, broth, and sake. When you walk in, veggies are on the right, meats and seafood in the back, and hot food and breads on the left. They have an aisle dedicated to junk food with all the candy and snacks you probably grew up eating. I do feel like they don't stock up as some items were sold out but we were able to find substitutes for a few things. Parking lot is small and shared with a lot of other businesses in the same plaza. The og... will always be Ranch 99 to me for how I've always heard it from KTSF (pretty sure it's a NorCal thing?). Ever since returning back to the Bay in 2015, this 99 has been my go to. This store definitely had basically everything I would need Asian cuisine wise. My go to for rice has to be the 3 ladies brand, got the whole shelf in the front for slapping to commence (it's a necessity to slap a bag as you walk by...at least for me haha). From tapioca balls (boba) to snacks, groceries of veggies to fresh meat from the butcher behind the counter...and fish too (fresh to fried) - it's a one stop shop for me and many others. Things are always reasonable in price, as to the times... I would exclude specialty snacks and treats from that though. The bakery has fresh white toasts and etc to pick up, 99 Ranch brand items that be bought using store coupon/cash as well (pretty worth to grab a bun as a snack after shopping). As for the hot food section, quick grab n good for dim sum isn't too bad; not dim sum restaurant quality, but it's good to satisfy a craving. For the hot foods, you can pack yourself - never hurts to stuff a to go box full to get your money's worth! Came here yesterday and I think this is the worst 99Ranch in the Tri-Valley area. They were out of stock on a lot of produce. Whatever was available didn't look fresh at all. Some were even damaged/rotten. Customer service was worst/non-existent. The cashier was very rude and lazy. Zero greeting or interaction. Throughout the whole transaction, she did not say a single word. I was still bagging the stuff I got after she had scanned everything but she did not offer to bag the rest of the stuff so I could pay. There was no one else in line so it's not like she's busy or anything. She just stood there staring into the distance while I bagged everything myself. I've seen The Great George F (San Ramon) check-in here and decided to stop in. It wasn't that crowded and I had good social space to shop. There wasn't anything particular I needed except I wanted a roast duck. The typical Chinese deli was empty. No dim sum. Steamer trays with common Cantonese combination plates are available. Char-Shu, Steamed Chicken, and of course, there was Roast Duck. I had a few other items however, I could only pay for my hot food at deli counter. No problem. I go here a lot but mainly for veggies and snacks because of the prices. The veggies are fairly cheap compared to other markets but just require an extra wash before you use consume them; especially the mushrooms. The snacks are plentiful and can get overwhelming, but I usually just go to the middle in between the cash register or the side of the registers. You'll find some of the new goodies there or ones on sale. For those who like the foreign lays this is the place to go for them vs online. Today I got a bag of taro chips, fish flavor, roasted garlic oyster, and crab flavor. I like to try all the flavors to see if they catch the essence of whatever food is on front. I used to love the roasted pork at this market. However, I have endured a very sad experience. I have ordered and saw the lady cut about 2 lbs of roasted pork, S37.09. I was the only customer at that time. IThe lady gave me the box of roasted pork after she cut the roasted pork. We have guess on that evening. When the party began. The roasted pork container was filled with hormone roasted butt meat. No evidence of ribs that I ordered. All my guesses felt terrible. They all known I got the meat from 99 Ranch market at Dublin. Great prices, lots of speciality items you won't find in typical grocery stores. Shopped for items to make a very specific dish, and managed to pick up everything we needed for it. Plenty of parking in the shared parking lot. Layout makes sense, but aisles are a bit small. Does not seem as big as other 99 Ranch Markets in the San Francisco Bay Area, but is still a good size. Has a deli and bakery section if you're hungry. The lines were a bit long for a Friday morning, especially for what seemed to be only a few cars in the parking lot, but maybe that's a good sign. I normally come here to get my Asian produce like vegetables, noodles and dumplings. Luckily, the lines usually aren't long unless it's around Chinese new year time.
