This Safeway location is the only major grocery store that I know of in Florence. It has a Starbucks inside which is nice, and a full-service deli for your convenience. The aisles are wide and easy to shop. Sale items are clearly marked, but beware of the fine print! I used to fall for it, but now I know better. To get the lowest price possible, you have to download the app and load them onto your card. Sometimes, their items can be pricey without coupon savings. I don't normally shop here, but it's the only place around whenever I'm in Florence. I believe they do offer curbside pickup if you place an order online. I've shopped at this Safeway location in Florence multiple times, and unfortunately the deli department where they sell chicken has been consistently disappointing. The biggest issue is the way customers are treated. On several visits, employees in the deli have come across as dismissive and unnecessarily rude. Simple interactions--like asking a question or placing an order--are met with short, irritated responses that make you feel like you're bothering them just by being there. I also have concerns about how items are being weighed and priced. There have been instances where the weights didn't seem accurate, which directly affects what customers are charged. That kind of inconsistency raises serious questions about fairness and trust. I understand that working in retail can be stressful, but that doesn't justify taking it out on customers. Respectful service and accurate pricing are basic expectations. At this point, I avoid the deli here unless I absolutely have to. Management should take a closer look at both customer service and pricing practices in this department. read more

I'll start with the positive. The people I come in contact with, are always nice. And it's conveniently located right on the corner, so when I really need something, I will shop here. But to be honest, I tried to avoid shopping here. Unfortunately, I've been here too many times where they are out of basic things that one would buy from the grocery store. Today they were out of French vanilla creamer and blocks of cream cheese. I did ask someone, but he never came back. These items are not something I would usually buy from Costco or buy in bulk and I'm definitely not someone who likes to go to multiple stores to get the things I need for weekly shopping. The other things I was looking for today were not super basic, but I feel like a good local grocery store would carry them. I usually buy the Pillsbury breakaway chocolate chip cookies here, but they were out. And I was going to buy vitamins, but they didn't carry zinc. I ended up not buying the vitamin D because a use it was a buy one get one free... Looks like I'll be making an extra stop at Fry's today. read more

Why is it such the hardest thing for these people to communicate with their customers in the pharmacy and no pharmacist for two weeks no wonder it's so dysfunctional. You can't get a hold of nobody and when you do you get put on hold to the point where it hangs up on you this is unacceptable. My doctor has called and left voicemails about a prescription that they said they weren't even getting faxes so have them call so then she calls and is able to leave a voicemail but then the next time I need her to call in because they seem to not gotten it. It's too full but when I talk to Robert, Robert says I checked the voicemails all the time I have not received one for you I suggest people start going back to Walgreens. When I moved down to Florence one of my biggest concerns was where I would shop as we are a bit out of the way down here. Fortunately Pulte had the land to have this store built on and leased it to Safeway when they started the Merrill Ranch and Sun City communities, and it's a good thing they did because this area is growing and really needs it's own dedicated store. As far as the store itself goes, this Safeway is friggin awesome! The deli department has great fried chicken and side dishes, the bakery department is totally on point with so many fresh confections and breads baked daily that it's fun just to walk through it to see what they have for sale this time. The store is always well stocked, and clean. The aisles are wide and there are never boxes stacked up in the middle of the rows so it's always easy to get through. There are always more than enough employees to help you and they are very friendly. The high point of this location for me though is the butcher. They always have fresh steaks and a wide variety of seafood and prepared marinated steaks or chicken ready to grill. They have their own cured bacon and the list just goes on and on. The will always be more than happy to custom cut steaks for you or give you cooking tips. I swear I MUST have reviewed this location before now as I have been going here for 3 years and absolutely love this store, but I guess not as I can't find a previous review I may have done. This review is long overdue for me then because I don't often give out five star reviews. It if any place deserves one it's this store. Oh, and the gas at their pumps is reasonable priced and I typically get a lot off by using my perks card when I shop. This Safeway makes shopping a pleasure rather than a dreaded chore. read more

I picked up a new prescription yesterday. I informed the tech it was new. Sal, Pharmacist came over and informed me I just need to read the instructions. In the past he was informed me he sees 800 customers a month. I know he is busy but I don't have to have my prescriptions filled here. I still have questions but if he is working I will NOT pick up a new prescription. The other Pharmacist is absolutely wonderful to work with. read more

I went to the bakery for some sweet treats, I found my favorite Apple fritters varied in size so much some were twice the size of others. I mentioned this to the service counter person and her reply was to select something else. Well at this point I asked her if she cared anymore about her neighbors and felt they should get a fair deal for the price. She seamed agitated and could care less, so I left and went elsewhere. People at Safeway please consider we as your close neighbors can support the store where you work so you have a job or go somewhere else. read more

My family comes here all the time. This Safeway is so clean. The people that work here are so friendly. I called tonight in need of some Lamb shoulder. Tyler who worked in the meat department was so friendly and attentive to what I was asking for. Definitely recommend this Safeway. The bakery department is awesome too! read more

I have finally had it with trying to get prescriptions here! This time waited 3 days to get it filled, was sent two text is was ready & after going down a 2nd time, wait in a long line lonely to be told it still wasn't ready, but the worst is the lack of customer service, talk about bad attitudes, if they don't like helping people they should not be at the register!! read more

I went to your store in Florence, Arizona today for a scheduled flu shot. I stood in line for nearly twenty minutes. When I got to the front I was told I had to go to a different window where there was also a line. At this point there were no other customers behind me. I stood in that other line, at that other window, watching the two empty windows where I'd just been. There were no customers there. I left in frustration. It's absurd that I stood in line for twenty minutes, for a scheduled appointment, only to be went to another line. In addition, there was no signage signifying which line to stand in for flu shots. The only sign visible was advertising the flu shots and it was nearer to the line I'd originally waited in. Asking me to wait in another line when there were two open windows with no customers, after I'd waited for twenty minutes, when I had an appointment, was absurd. read more

First time at this Safeway. Is this a training facility or is this where everybody goes that doesn't care about quality? I spent $348 and got meat I could've picked up off the floor at any butcher shop. Filets full of veins, arteries and large dense fat I make my own jerky and this doesn't even qualify as "Utility" grade. I must say the canned goods were clean and dust free. The check out cashier was friendly and kind. I bagged my own grocery untill I saw 3 baggers standing around with their thumbs (you know the rest). Sorry Safeway. I know that the staff aren't in control over everything, like shipping, when they will receive things etc. I was just really thankful when one of the ladies at the pharmacy called me personally to tell me they ordered the right thing but received the wrong one from the main manufacturer. I tried. I keep going to this store because it's the closest one. I Must like being disappointed. Whoever manages this store, shouldn't. How can you not have inventory stocked on shelves at 8 am on a BUSY HOLIDAY WEEKEND? How can you not have enough inventory to RUN OUT BY 8 AM SATURDAY on a busy holiday weekend? Signs at the door say mask required but 25% of the people are walking in without masks, and nobody stops them to enforce the rule. This has been going on for the past month or two, and is not because of the new CDC guidelines for vaccinated people. It's just the lower income, uneducated idiots, who don't want to get vaccinated, and don't care about spreading Covid to others. And Safeway doesn't seem to care. Clean store, verity of fresh fruits and vegetables, with friendly staff and all the other items you might need.

There are three things that drop this review from five stars to three. 1) The evening manager. The older one that started nights within this last year. He is unprofessional, rude to employees in front of customer (happened 3 times now in front of me), and rude to customers (he was VERY disrespectful to my husband). All the other managers and evening people are always wonderful. It is just him. 2) Mold in the berries. This just crushes me. My family of five LOVE blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Unfortunately, more often than not there is mold in the container. 3) The bakery uses the moldy berries. With our love affair with berries, you know we hit the bakery every time. This is just self punishment unfortunately. Found mold on these too. Stay away from these three aspects and this location is the best grocery store in the valley. I thought I would go to Safeway with all the construction on Hunt and save myself some traffic stress. Checked out the local ad. One item that I really wanted and was advertised in an oversized ad, was not available. I was told they haven't been getting this order. Well thanks. Nice looking new store (6 years now) Rent was subsidised for 3 years +/- so store could exist, while fledgling. Mentioned to the new store manager (Steve) that the Men's bathroom urinals we're stained, smells of outhouse, needs to be cleaned and sanitized, "I'm on it, thanks" said he...Nothing done! Safeway is down the street from us, so convenient and quick to get there. There prices are a little high so we don't do our large grocery runs there but we do go when we need something quick. The staff is great when we go, always during the day. They are friendly and helpful. We don't know each other by names but they know me by my boys lol. They always say hi and talk to them when we go in. read more

I would never review a supermarket really but this store is so nice, neat and clean and it has a huge selection of products. I do wish they had the natural/organic stuff in one area instead of mixed in throughout the supermarket though. What made me write this review though is that I've never been to a supermarket where every time I've gone there more than one employee has said hello, and asked me if I needed help finding something. I've had that at other types of stores like clothing, electronic or dept stores but never a supermarket. Very good customer service indeed! read more

The pharmacy unfortunately is not up to par. I sent a request in two days ago to get my prescription filled and it was not ready today two days later. Asked to wait ten minutes then was only given 7 pills as they said they did not have enough. When I asked to talk to the pharmacist he blamed the holidays. I could believe this, if it wasn't the third time this had happened to our family. Unfortunately it is the only pharmacy near us for several people in our community so there is no desire to change for them. In fact when I said we would be changing pharmacists, the pharmacist just said okay and walked away. So very sad. read more

Worst Safeway I ever shopped, of which I've been shopping at since 1979. This particular Safeway discriminates openly against those who are disabled. In May 2018, I was yelled at and insulted by Customer Service Karen, who accused me of making her act crazy. All I asked was to find out where the products where which were to be honored through the Monopoly Game coupon. These products were apparently scattered throughout the store, some either sold out, or placed somewhere else in the store, but not where they are listed on the aisles. When I asked if another employee can show me around quickly to their locations, this woman literally lost her you-know-what, saying that it was my fault that she was having a melt down, then going to the extent of dehumanizing one of her superiors in mid-level management. I did call corporate to inform of this incident. The regional manager called me to apologize and offer me a $15 gift card for my inconvenience. A gift card is nice, but what I wanted was to be assured that the situation would not happen again, should I want to shop there. I am disabled and my anxiety can be quite tormenting to deal with, and because of this situation, when I walk into this Safeway, I always feel like I have to be on alert. IDK what Safeway's thing is with her, but apparently they've received numerous complaints about Karen, yet she's still working in the same position at customer service when she's far from being the customer service type. So I backed off shopping so much at this particular Safeway for awhile. There was still one incident that happened afterwards with Karen, involving my son, who has high functioning asperger's. Although my son did not handle his situation that well when he last shopped there, Karen said some accusatory things to my son, which could have been left out. All she did was inflame my son further. I had to speak to PJ about that incident who helped to smooth it over, but not without Karen giving her smirks. Again, I still have no clue why Safeway chooses to maintain employment with someone so smug and rude. Then today was my last straw with them. I was blocked from making my purchase today by Asst. Manager Steve, unless of course I wanted to pay full price for what I had on sale. I explained to him that I clicked on all the coupon savings from my computer at home, which some didn't appear to be honored. I also pointed out that a 50% off item in the meat section was not honored correctly. Steve insisted that he could not help me unless I had the Safeway app downloaded on my phone so he can view that I actually did click on certain coupons. I explained I can only download the coupons at home, and I cannot print out the coupons, as I am under a HP program that only limits me to 15 pages a month. The coupons are 8+ pages, and I'm already near max for copies this month. He told me that he was sorry, but then he can't help me. I receive SSDI which is not enough for me to afford the latest smartphones. My phone is a very old smartphone with antiquated technology, plus it has low memory. So not only can I NOT download the app, as my phone's technology does not meet the specifications of the app, I don't have enough available memory on my phone so that it can function properly if I put one more app on it. So how can a disabled person shop at this Safeway and still have sale items honored when they are unable to download the app, or afford a new and advanced smartphone? Answer: They can't. read more

This store was on the downhill for a little while. Seemed that every time purchased something here I was overcharged substantially. That has since changed. The staff is always very polite, helpful, and appears to take pride in their jobs. I have talked to management in the past when overcharged, they take care of it without hassle. I do recommend verifying your being charged for the correct produce, they tend to get that incorrect often. Breakfast sandwiches are excellent, Deli is clean, and store is well stocked. This place is really neat and clean every time I go in to shop, however I never really do too much shopping here due to the prices and produce. It's closer to my house so I stop here if I need one or 2 items but I never go grocery shopping here when I'm fully stocking my fridge and pantry. The prices are some of the more expensive out of all the competing grocery stores in the area. Every time I go here for any kind of leafy greens such as lettuce, spinach or collards I'm always disappointed. They are always brown and soggy looking and almost never fresh. read more

The store is always very clean. It looks like it should be model for other Safeway's. They always have really good prices on their meat. I love Safeway's soups so I was glad to find this store. I drive 12 miles past Walmart and Fry's to get here. I used to grocery shop at Walmart, but I found that the low prices aren't worth the other crap I have to put up with like kids running around unattended and the rudeness of customers. This Safeway is always clean and parking is not a problem. They have a great place to sit and eat and watch the news. Restrooms are always clean and the Starbucks inside is great. I even opened a new account at the US Bank inside. My son loves their choice of vegetables. In fact, we picked cauliflower that looked questionable, and the manager came over right away and let us choose a replacement for free. This is the kind of service that is outstanding. I'm willing to pay a little more for the choice of products and the quality of service. The atmosphere is always pleasant and the store always clean. It's worth the 12 mile commute! read more

I love this store and the manager is always friendly and says hi. The clerks are friendly for the most part. I drive out of my way to stop at this store wherever I am in the area. There is a nice area by Starbucks to sit and enjoy the fresh soups in the front. Chicken jumbalaya and chicken noodle are the best choices. There are also nice premade sandwiches as well. read more
