Most of the time, Safeway gas stations have the advantage on price compared to others in the area. From what I have researched, this location usually beats the Arco on the north side of town by just a few cents. Unfortunately location of this station is a bit out of the way for me, since I'm usually coming from Cochrane/101 and Arco is a lot closer in my case. I find that i only save 10-20 cents per fill-up if I drive 3 or 4 miles down to Tennant/Monterey and back. For this reason I don't come to this station that often, especially when the Safeway Gas on Cottle Rd in San Jose is a full 10 cents in some cases less than Morgan Hill. Regardless this station still beats most of the lowest independents in town. Unless time or location is an issue, the wait times at this station can be a factor esp during commute hours in morning or afternoon. read more

So my tank is 12.9 gallons. Never once has it ever gone past 12.5 unless it's bone dry when I pull in. I had 15 miles left in the tank. Went to fill up today, wasn't paying attention until the end because I like to guess what the total was, so I look and I was at 13.5 gallons, not sure when my I got half a tank but apparently I did from the last time I filled up a week ago. Something ain't right and their card readers are always broken on the machines. I'd stop going but I shop at Safeway way so much I got like 40 fill ups with $1 off a gallon. read more

One of the few Safeway gas stations and I'm glad to have access to it. It is very competitive to Costco. I believe it is the SAME PRICE as COSTCO gas IF you have a Safeway Club card. But who DOESNT have one? It's free. It gives you 3 cents off, which usually equals COSTCO prices at the time. Of course this varies in the ever fluctuating gas prices these days. BTW, despite a review from last year. SAFEWAY has CHANGED the discount. The only time you get 10 cents off is AFTER YOU SPEND $100 in the MONTH. Meaning your points don't roll over after the month is over. Safeway KNEW $50 was way too easy and way too good of a deal for us. LOL. Nice thing is the points STACK. So if you spend $200 in the month, you get 20 CENTS OFF on your next fill up per gallon. And so on, if you spend $300 in the month. The nice thing this has over Costco is THEY ACCEPT MAJOR CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS. Costco only accepts DEBIT AND AMEX. They also have water/air station free of course--because that is by law. Now my RANT.. I made it. I had 2 miles left in my tank and no wallet when I got here. Luckily this gas station and my friend were there for me. My friend was able to spot me some cash and the gas station was able to spot me some gas. What I liked most about this gas station was that it was not 2 miles further away from where I initially was. Filling my essentially empty tank up with my friend's money was one of the best gas fill ups I've had in a long time. The rush of barely making it, had my endorphins going! Then the relieve of finally getting there and not even paying for my own gas, it was pure bliss. It felt like I was on drugs, until I had to pay my friend back on Venmo. Highly recommend this gas station if you are about to run out of gas and this is the closest gas station to you. read more

on 8/31 I purchased contaminated gas from pump #7 or #11. my car had to be towed. the diagnostic was contaminated gas. it was an expensive out of pocket costs, not worth the dollars savings from rewards. if anyone else had this issue at Safeway gas MH on 8/31 please let me know. read more

This station has gone downhill recently. Now the lines are long and the pumps are problematic. Today pump 5 had the regular RED TAGGED for not being within tolerances! I mean when have you ever seen that? I will only be using this station for emergency fueling going forward. The management at Safeway has no clue how far down this station has fallen. Most affordable gas in town, and good location. The shop is not much of a convenience market, its really small and has a few drinks. Shopping at safeway will gain you a larger discount at the pump. Used to frequently stop here at the butt-crack for gas on my commute to San Jose. This is not directly on my way from my Gilroy starting point, but I would go slightly out of my way to use this station. I would usually roll through at around 5:10am, 10-minutes after their posted opening time. On a few occasions the pumps have still been locked and/or the pumps haven't been turned on. In the past, I would either chose to wait for the worker to get things going 15 minutes after their posted opening time or went to a different location. Today, 06/04/2018, I arrived at 5:09am and the place was a ghost town, all the pumps locked again and not a worker in sight to unlock. This is the last straw, I will no longer make this a frequent stopping point on my morning commute. If this station is supposed to be open at 5am, it should be open and ready to serve it's customers at 5am, not 5:15am or later. read more

I use to only go here. HOWEVER, i will never buy gas here again. I saw that the price was posted with a neon lit sign. Ok good for me, used my credit card as I always do. When i was done my receipt said .10 cents more a gallon. I looked around for any signs showing a service charge and none that i could find. Went inside and they told me it cost .10 cents a gallon to use credit. I asked why there was no sign she said the price per gallon is posted on a card sign. I always stop here when I'm in Morgan Hill. It's some of the cheapest gas around. You can get anywhere from 3 cents off a gallon to more...the most I got once was 40 cents off per gallon. That's a lot!! Prices are excellent but that also means the lines can get long. You are supposed to pull up to the pump and wait behind each station, but people form long lines one car behind another, causing bottlenecks until someone from the crew comes out and directs traffic. I really wish people would figure it out! So the lines are pretty hit or miss. But I still keep coming back b/c you can't beat the prices!! read more

Too high of volume of cars. When they are busy, they make you pull into the lane they want you in which could mean that the pump is on the driver side although your gas nozzle is on the other side. The staff is alright here, the store is rather small, especially considering the volume of patrons they push through here. I drive right past this place every day and go two minutes out of my way to World Gas where the guy working is super nice, they are less busy and the gas is way cheaper! I do stop here occasionally though when I am super rushed and it usually takes me just as long due to the lines and I always end up regretting my decision. read more

The gas discount program is a huge FAIL. I had a 30 cent discount on my Safeway card and tried to use it to fill my SUV. The gas pump wouldn't read my card and the card wasn't registered to my phone number, any more. (Another Safeway problem - multiple cards in the family, one phone number.) I went into the office, the attendant said he could try to read the card but I had to set a dollar limit, meaning I couldn't buy a full tank with the discount. His only solution was to play "Gas Pump Roulette" - try different pumps to find a pump that would read the card. Yeah, Right. Every pump had a line of cars. Like I have all night to buy gas. So I tried to assign a phone number to the card using my cell phone and the Safeway website. That didn't work- the web site kept freezing up and demanded that I reenter all of my personal data. I have better things to do than to deal with a failed gas discount program, failed gas pumps, and a failed web site. So I went down the road to the new discount gas station at the corner of Dunne and Monterey, bought my gas, and put Safeway back into the "Do not shop here" zone. Discount programs are nice but if they don't work, they are useless. read more

The gas prices here are good. Especially with the discounts you get for shopping here. However, the pumps suck! Every time I pump gas, no matter which pump I use, I have to stand there and hold it the entire time. And while I'm holding it, it keeps releasing. They need new pumps! read more

I try to use this gas station as often as possible for several reasons. First off, it's very well lit, even at night. So I feel safe here which is extremely important to me. Next is price. Safeway club cards members or anyone with access to a phone number for one can get a slight discount. Because my family grocery shops at Safeway regularly and we eat too much, we can usually score a giant $1 a gallon discount which helps a lot, whether we are filling an 11 gallon tank or a 24 gallon one. Finally, I love this gas station because it is so large. I think there are 16 total spots you can use to fill up. All of them take cash or card and I think quite a few of them offer diesel, if not all of them. My only complaint is that, although there are a ton of spots, they are typically the busiest gas station in town and everyone on town seems confused about whether or not it's ok to pull up behind someone or just bottle neck it until some moves. So my general rule of thumb for going here is- if there's no line I go. But people get ruthless at this place if you are waiting "wrong." read more

Had trouble yet again getting my rewards this is now the 3rd or 4th time, and with a screaming baby in tow now because pump wont give rewards Robert was condesending and rude! I obviously was having an issue getting my rewards and instead of just helping me and fixing the problem he acusationaly asked questions as if i was an idiot... i left embarassed with no after he announced i had entered the wrong pin in trying to make my purchase inside while being grilled... I like the discount options and the size of the station overall. However I drive a work truck and even though the hoses reach the other side of cars and SUV's they don't reach the other side of my truck so the one way drive is a pain sometimes. other than that its a great station read more
