While on vacation my luggage was stolen out of my rental car in the parking lot while I ran inside to purchase sunscreen. Management was nice and looked at surveillance but it was poor quality and far away.. Just trying to get word out, I noticed on police reports that another car also experienced theft on the same day last October. First and only trip to Maui ever. Never again. read more

Check your receipts!! They double charged an item. Not a big deal.... but, the only other time I had this issue was at the Maui Lani Safeway..... Other than that, the new location is nice, big, and clean! Pharm, Starbucks, and BOH inside. read more

My friend invited me for lunch he picked up the surf and turkey sandwiches at the kihei location. He instructed the gal to put all the fixings except pickles in mine. He asked her what kind of cheese she put in and was informed it was cheddar. My friend is blind. He said they felt light. She didn't put any thing except 2 slices of bacon meat a alittle smear of avocado. read more

We waited at the deli for 5 minutes without anyone coming up to assist, when we finally asked the sushi counter employee he went back to get someone and then we waited another 5 minutes. Stephen helped us and was painfully, painfully slow. It was like he was actually trying to move in slow motion. It took him over 20 minutes to get us 3 samples and 5 items. Total time standing at the deli was about half an hour. It was terrible. The checkout woman was incredibly nice and speedy though! read more

Got a sandwich for lunch at work. Once I got to work I realize the sandwich did not have any meat on it it was supposed to have meat. Took it back at the end of the day and they did nothing about it. They said it was impossible. I am not a liar this happened very disappointing with this customer service I left my Safeway card at the customer service desk, i'm so disappointed they're willing to lose a customer over a sandwich. read more

I heard Foodland poke was good but I got it confused with Safeway and ordered poke here. I asked if I could have three different poke (with different prices per lb) in one container to be more environmentally friendly. They said that was fine so I got about 1/3 lb of each. I didn't notice until after checkout that they just weighed the total weight at the most expensive poke price so I ended up paying some $8 more than I would have had they weighed each at its proper price. If weighing each in one container was so difficult I would have asked for three separate containers. Or they could have used the second price as a median/average for all three. So in the end I substantially overpaid for the wrong poke and would not recommend to others. read more

Super nice new store! I hope they keep it that way! We went in near midnight...nice employees and the "security" lady was very helpful too. We did see a elderly local man steal a pack of ramen... at 12cent a pack I really don't think Safeway will go broke! I was going to offer to purchase it for him however it not my place to "catch a thief". The employees here should feel very lucky to have a nice new store! Please keep it clean and tidy! read more

While on a vacation in Maui we decided to grab a few items from this particular store. I went to the self check out lane which I've done several times before in the past. (Not at this location)They all work the same. A young lady came over to see if I needed help, I politely smiled and said no thank you. Thinking to myself wow what great customer service she had....OH NO!!!!After paying CASH for my items, I retrieved my receipt and proceeded out the door to the car. Seconds later a voice was saying ma'am ma'am ma'am you did not pay for your food. The machine show your card declined. With a confused look on my face I said I'm unsure how that would be, I paid cash and here is my receipt. She said, I'm sorry I did see you pay cash...I was embarrassed to a point she would come after me yelling ma'am like I was a thief. I truly believe in this case it had a lot to do with ethnicity. I will NEVER visit this location again. read more

Just moved to the island and ordered groceries to be delivered. I'm only 15 mins away by car but since I just moved here I can't leave my home. They were supposed to be delivered this morning and it's now night. They're 9 hours late and no one picks up the phone. I called the corporate grocery delivery help line and an inquiry was supposedly made to the driver to contact me but that was now 2 hours ago. I understand things might be over whelming right now but I'm failing to understand how I get notified at 8am that my groceries are bought and my money is gone and it's now 11 hours later and it's not delivered yet. read more

Came here for vacation. A local recommended this new Safeway and it didn't disappoint. It's huge and clean. Lots of stuff to choose from. I was especially recommended it's Poke, from the meat department. Wow lots of selections. Just get like 1/2lb of each to taste, quite an experience. read more

If you haven't been to the new Safeway in Kahului yet, you should stop by. It's clean and bright and the Isles are wide. There's a nice sign to greet you as you walk in the door, plus another above the juices that say Aloha.The fresh produce is displayed nicely, with a lot to choose from. The store restrooms are connected to the Starbucks and are typical of a Starbucks restroom....large and clean. My only complaint is the there are only 2 cart return racks way in the back of the parking lot and one hidden by a low wall against the front of the store. Other than that, it was a delight shopping there today. I can't forget to mention the employees were all very cheerful and helpful. read more

Great setup and variety of products and signage. Nice to items 5.00 or less, Starbucks located inside has nice seating area, wide aisles, I really like the designation of "the cafe" and "boars head" areas and other food stations. Great job Safeway. Would like to see more items at $5.00 or less. read more
