My mom and my aunt use to own this market. We only sold groceries and kimchee/banchan. The new owner is a young chef and she brought in hot foods, bentos and innovative and out of this world banchan (Korean side dishes)!!! You must must try! Her bibimbap is better than the restaurants on Maui! And her kimchee fried rice is on point as well as her Korean sushi (kimbap)! Not only do I love coming here because it reminds me of my childhood working here, but I love coming here because everything is so good! There's not that big of a Korean population here on Maui, so finding Korean products/food can be a bit tricky at times. Luckily there are 2 little (& I mean little) markets on Lower Main St. and Maui Oriental Market is one of them. The store stocks a variety of snacks, drinks, sauces, frozen goods, homemade kimchee, noodles, gochujang, miso paste, ya know.. the typical korean seasonings & ingredients. Some of their items are a bit more than other shops, so it's best to compare and make mental notes of which place offers the best deal or the most convenience. The last time I came here was on the night of a friend's bachelorette celebration. We decided to go to a noraebang (karaoke) after dinner. We needed to spice the night up a little so I spontaneously dropped by this shop 'cause I knew they had to have SOJU. Haha. I walked in and BAM! So many to choose from and in different flavors too! Woohoo! I was super happy to see they also had makgeolli (a milky, lightly sparkling rice wine) in varying flavors. Daebak! They were pretty dang cheap, so I picked up a few bottles of each and I was set. Went to pay and I realized I had no shot glasses, no cups... d'oh! I greeted the gentlemen behind the counter with "annyeonghaseyo" and asked him if he had any cups or anything that I could use to drink. He proceeded to open up these boxes and hooked me up with so many shot glasses & bowls (for the makgeolli). I asked him how much it was and he said "I give to you FREE!" Yeeeheee! Multiple kamsahamnidas flowed forth from my mouth that night. Maybe I get lucky whenever I'm out and about, but I love random moments like these. Totally made my night :) read more

It was my first time going here just to see what they sell and I ended up spending about $50 because I was excited to try many of their products that I've never seen before. The store is really narrow, but is filled with foods that you cant find elsewhere on Maui. The owner is super sweet! Once we walked in we were greeted with a smile. She also told us how to cook this one package of noodles we bought. If anyone needs any Korean products I would definitely tell them to go to this store. #SupportLocal read more

This store is about the size of a convenience store and carries a variety of dry goods, cookware, fresh kim chee, Korean cooking ingredients, and snacks. Although there are a handful of small Korean stores in Wailuku, this store is better stocked for prepared vegetable because it has its own commercial kitchen. The Korean couple that runs this store is friendly, helpful, and also speak English. If you are concerned about making a trip here and not finding what you need, call and they will tell you if they have the items you need in stock. read more

You definitely have to stop in to this market. It is now under new ownership as the previous owner's retired but you will truly be happy that you stopped in. Being 100% Korean growing up eating authentic Korean food, I have to say that the food that Mi Jin prepares is top notch. I haven't found a place here since moving to Maui almost 2 years ago from the East Coast but I think I can stop my search. She has the culinary background which makes her food even more authentic. She makes prepared dishes and is planning to expand on that so you have to stop in to see what she has and try for yourself. This is definitely my go to for Korean ingredients and prepared dishes. I haven't been back to Maui in a while but I'm definitely glad I found this place! Being from LA it's often difficult to find any Korean food in Hawaii. But this place has everything that one may need from the amazing homemade kimchi to the delicious Korean snacks that I crave. I was even surprised to see that they had a lot of skin care products that I was looking for! The owners are extremely friendly as well! They asked if I needed any help and then began to engage in friendly conversation about my visit and such. I stopped by here to pick up some ingredients to make spicy rice cake. The owners were very friendly and helped me find ingredients. The store had all the basic korean foods for a good price considering that it's in Maui. I would 100% recommend coming here if you need to find any korean snacks or food. This appears to be the only Korean market in the island of Maui they go by Maui Oriental Market(AKA Seoul Korean Market). We arrived here in Maui for the first time yesterday and we were looking for a Korean market so that we can cook our food at the condo. We were very pleasantly surprised to find majority of Korean ingredients to cook our food: kimchee, denjang, gochujang, fish, garlic, gochugaru, ramen, etc. If you are looking for Korean groceries so that you can cook in your kitchen, this is the only place to go. Eh... We only came here out of curiosity, not because we needed to buy anything. On our way to Waihe'e Beach Park, we saw the Korean writing on the wall of the building so later, on our way back, we stopped by just to take a look around. The neighborhood is shady and the location looks a bit icky (rundown looking building, not in the greatest shape). However, the store is pretty well-stocked with the basic Korean ingredients. I was shocked at the prices but then again, grocery costs (minus things like pineapples and spam) were higher than what I'm used to everywhere on the island - doy, everything is imported. The Korean snacks and groceries I bought from here were very delicious! I got some shrimp chips, Korean dumplings, a delicious mango drink, and kimchi to eat at home. I have to say, the kimchi is especially amazing. The owner told me that they make it themselves. Although it is a very small, family-running business, it is one of the few places on Maui that sells those sorts of products. I was very delighted by the service and the owners of the business were very polite! I would want to come here again to have some more of their Korean goods. read more

We first came here because we were looking for some Asian products to use. This store seemed to be the only Korean supermarket on Maui so we decided to check it out. We stayed in Lahaina so it was a far drive, but in the end it was worth it. So when we first arrived at the store, we noticed some things. The area the store is located in is not as shady as it seemed to be. My friend told me that this was one of the main roads on Maui and it was one of the more populated streets. The store has about 4-5 parking stalls and they are spacious enough to fit in. So if you are wondering why I gave this place 5 stars, the main reason is because of the inside of the store. The store may be small and cramped, but it has a lot of groceries. Ranging from Korean Meat (Samgyupsal) to all sorts of Kimchi, this store had everything we were looking for. Although the price was a bit more than our usual Korean supermarket in California, this was because of the shipping. Saying this again this store has a lot of groceries so there is surely everything that a Korean tourist would need. The service of the store also contributes to the ratings of the store. The service is so nice. The two owners went out of their ways to help us look for what we needed. When we asked for some directions to Haleakala, they happily assisted us and gave us directions. They were super friendly and we had a conversation for about an hour. No matter how busy they seemed, they were always calm and had an overall awesome attitude. I would recommend this store to anyone that is looking for some Asian groceries. This store is loaded with many types of groceries, and the service is awesome. Best homemade Kim chee in town! All the different choices, including cucumber, ika etc. The owners are also really nice people and very appreciative of their customers. They stock a pretty good amount of Korean products at prices that are competitive with Honolulu prices. Plus, they seem to be open almost everyday, which makes it very easy to satisfy my Kim chee cravings! read more

This Korean market is the best market I've ever been to on Maui. Although the location isn't so great, it isn't about what's on the outside, but the inside that counts. Only Korean market in Maui as far as I could determine. Happened to find this on Yelp by accident while looking for Korean restaurants. Drove to the place. The building was run down and scary looking, but once my wife and I entered, we felt better since there was a hadabojji (sorry for the spelling on the Romanization of the Korean word) looking guy who welcomed us. They had the basics of a Korean grocery. Limited compared to any Korean grocery on the mainland, but ok for our needs. Got some snacks and yogurutu (Korean yogurt drink). They also had frozen items, kimchee, ramen, and cookable foods. If you have access to a kitchen while in Maui and want to eat authentic Korean without having to go to a reataurant, I recommend stopping here. Even if you don't have access to a kitchen, if you want some Korean snacks come here. Somewhat more expensive than the mainland, but most everything in Maui is. read more

This is a great Korean Market in Maui. Kim-chi (which I was told is homemade) is one of the best I've tasted. They had plenty of Korean products (even had power converter/adaptor), snacks, and produces. Owners were very nice and told me they've been in business for 15 years! Prices are reasonable as shipping cost is very high to Maui. I would definitely come back here more often to fulfill my Korean food craving. read more

The last time I visited this store was December 2010. I bought house made Kimchi. It was the best Kimchi I have ever tasted among many Korean market brands in Washington and California combined. The owner was very friendly and the store inside was clean and well stocked. I go to Maui every the other year for my timeshare. I am planning to visit this winter, and will buy all Korean ingridients at this store and KIMCHI of course. The price is reasonably higher than mainland because everything in Maui is imported.
